ItzNas:You didn't get me properly. I said getting there is usually competitive. I cant remember saying that the pay of all those NGOs are higher than that of UN. I merely listed other NGOs and INGOs one could apply to instead of waiting for UN. With experience in those NGOs, one could leverage on that and apply to UN. Note also that UN tries to balance nationalities in their staffing composition. Masters degree gives an edge over others when it comes to INGOs and UN. That's the fact. But experience is the most sought after qualification. Bro, it would be difficult to enter through the global talent program without masters or proven cognate experience, which are mainly for recent graduates with exceptional results. |
You don't get hired by UN easily except if you are lucky to enter through their global talent program which is very competitive. There are international agencies, working in the humanitarian sector in Nigeria, paying more than UN. Deepen your skills in Data analysis, Monitoring and evaluation, Report writing and graphics, Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Development and conflict management. Masters degree is a must as it gives you an edge. The sector is fiercely competitive and you have to show strong competitive advantage over other candidates. Search for job with the following organisations in Nigeria: USAID British Council Danish refugee council; Norwegian refugee council Plan international Palladium RTI Ford foundation Christian aid Caritas German development cooperation European union and ECOWAS Creative associates Medicine san frontiers INTERSOS Save the children Family Health International (FHI) Association for Reproductive Health and Family (ARFH) Clinton Health Foundation World Bank International Finance Corporation Islamic Development Bank International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) Catholic Relief Service (CRS) Panagora Development Alternative Initiative (DAI) Coffey Society for Family Health (SFH) MSI There are many others that I can't remember again. You need to horn your skills with these organisation to make your path to UN easier. Also note that not all these agencies pays more than UN, but they provide more easy route. UN agencies hardly recruit people without development and humanitarian experiences. Don't underestimate the importance of being multilingual. Learn foreign languages like french and German. German development cooperation or medicine san frontiers will take someone fluent in German or French, as the the case may be than someone that is monolingual. That's why most francophone countries are more represented in international organisations than anglophone countries. Those from french speaking countries learns English as a second language while those from English speaking countries hardly learns french or any other language. You have to also be good with the work of UN and it's agencies around the world. Agencies of UN include the following: UNICEF FAO WFP UNDP UNESCO International Organisation for Migration (IOM) United Nations Organisation for Drugs and Crime WHO Getting into these agencies are not easy. |
The despondency and loss of hope among the youth is legendary. The country is loosing her finest. Economic survival comes first before any other thing |
Nobody should disturb the VP biko. The VP takes order from the presidency. He can't just go on official function without the presidency approval. Since his boss didn't attend and didn't want to send him,my guy just respected himself and kept quiet. |
Bro, join Navy biko. Leave all these business wanna be owners and my freedom gang. Nigeria's business environment is un forgiven. I have seen well-planned businesses went under. I am a witness. |
EgunMogaji2:Very neat workstation you got there, unlike what we normally see here with dirts, spilled black oil on the floor, scraps and waste everywhere. Thumbs up. You are representing your exposure very well. Please, inculcate that neatness and orderliness in other artisans working for you. |
Well done guys! KMPG, PWC, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, Accenture, Microsoft, Anderson, Access bank, Zenith bank, Eni Spa, AFDB etc are all waiting for you as they want them graduates to be less than 24, with first class. |
I fear to have confrontation with people that handles work tools - farmers, butchers, mechanics, welders, carpenters, forknisers, plumbers, mason, iron benders and factory workers. Some of them do have serious anger problem and using offensive weapons is always easy for them under slightest provocation. |
kopell:Each to his own. I used to be a fan when I was still growing up in the East then. Anybody that built then with those front pillars were hailed and the building do look imposing then. But right now, my taste and perception has changed based on vast exposure and my understanding of what contemporary builds are made of. |
Why Rivers state high court where judgement could be bought and sold. I was expecting to hear Federal high court. Wike is in control of judiciary in Rivers state. I am not supporting the federal government but I don't trust that judgement. Moreover, States high court don't adjudicate on things relating to federal government. I stand to be corrected. |
EgunMogaji2:I tell you. Everybody is mounting this type in my area. I initially went for the usual checkered plate design but this has caught my attention and I have caught the bug, but still undecided. |
Horlardorjah:Other reasons for that kind of gate is to allow free flow of air and not to allow the build to look like a prison, brings out the beauty of the building, allows the occupants to see the person at the gate from their balcony, allows neighbours to see what is happening in the compound as a form of security. It is not for the prying eyes of the passersby to see what is happening within your compound. That's my own take and how I would design mine. |
Nice gesture. We don't take nature and environment serious in this part of the world. The problem with parks In Lagos is insecurity. Go and sit down there to enjoy your self. You will see some hoodlums with dreads moving around the place. If you are a home owner, plant trees, put ornamental flower plants everywhere. Plant canopy shade trees instead of using all these steel and aluminium. Put live flower and plants in most part of your interiors. You will always breath quality air and feel good. I don't know about you, but once I am in a green park, with trees, birds whistling, good vegetation, I tend to think better and have more recollection of thoughts. It also helps in relieving stress. I love my village and I always cherish opportunity to visit and stroll down through low level rainforest and feel nature at its best. |
michlins:It would look nice. Not putting the pan in the middle per say but a little bit up so that anyone standing in front of the gate will still not be able to peep except if the person bends or jump. The pan should be able to block direct prying eyes from passers by but still create see through up and down the gate. |
EgunMogaji2:Baba Egun, I am not a fan of local doors but I will still take locally produced hardwood doors over low quality Turkish imported. Even those local hardwood front doors are not cheap. Good ones goes from 300k and above. The artisan that did my handrails begged that I should allow him do the back exit door for me. I showed him the design I wanted and he delivered something close. Though it lacked some fine finishing I would have loved but I still accepted it. Since it will just be at the back of the house, nothing spoil
|
affable4:This is what disgusts me about most Nigerians. Complain about a governor, people will come hard on you to go and complain about your own State Governor. When people from the East complain about a governor in the West, all hell will be let loosed. Same with when some one from the west points out something wrong in the East, everyone from that region would shout him down. Then you keep thinking how we would grow as a nation. We should be objective and independent minded in our thinking. |
uncleteeh:Very correct. I wanted to ask the difference between a Welder and an Iron bender. My Structural Engineer goofed big time when I was building as I wasn't around when the building started up to decking level. It was when we were about to do the decking that I called a seasoned iron bender, with a lot of construction experiences under his belt, to do the iron works for me. On getting to my site, because of some structural defects he saw, he advised places that we needed to put hidden beams, open beams and other reinforcement amendments to support the integrity of the building in certain places of the decking that were not in the structural plan as the building is a lengthy one. My "COREN" registered structural Engineer agreed with him completely. That was how the building was saved. Since then, I had relied on the iron bender for certain things pertaining to the building. |
Next generation gone with mama. Life. I love nature. Would have studied the snake and the egg. This is the kind of thing Simon Keys of NatGeo likes. |
Definitely, outsiders out of ameoba will always compliments you more than your partners. My wife experiences that compliments a lot from outsiders. It doesn't mean that I don't compliment her. When I give her money to buy fine wears and she goes out with her friends, she would always get compliments. If your husband is doing his job very well, please don't stress him so much about this part of responsibility. |
He should consider getting Sadio Mane from Liverpool. The guy is no more happy with Klopp and Chelsea should discuss his availability. |
The same people rubbing the oil will soon accuse him of rape and indecent assault. God save him he is not black. |
uncleteeh:As Egun normally say, you can't buy class. What you thought to be out of fashion may be his own pride. Each Aboki to his own kettle. |
sgtponzihater1:Nice point. Global standard is good but the basic foundation of formation are still necessary. Not withstanding the problems we have, there are still valuable lessons we usually learn as a Nigerians and I wouldn't want that to be lost on them. |
EgunMogaji2:Apt. I went to see a tiler recommended to me by a friend where he was working in someone's house. Looking at the house, I knew money was not a problem to the owner. But the kind of finishing, mismatched tiling and irrelevant things but highly expensive I saw made me to shook my head. See poor choices everywhere. I knew immediately that the owner paid good money for ugliness. I thought to myself that at least he should have consulted an interior decorator or visit Internet to see some modern designs considering the fact that money wasn't his problem. |
We deserve the kind of leadership we have. Why are people lamenting? Didn't we vote in Buhari not once but twice.? It seems we have very short memory in this country. We are all waiting for 2023 to vote in another disaster. I don comot hand for Nigeria matter. |
Poor goat and its unborn kid. I am sure its pregnancy could not allow it to struggle with the python. That's why danger should never come near a pregnant woman. Escaping or trying to struggle for an escape is usually risky. RIP to you poor goat. You couldn't give life to the fruit of your womb. Sorry you had to succumb to the realities of life. |
Lexusgs430:Devotion in the midst of massive corruption. Nigeria is an irony of a country. They use that devotion to deceive the gullible to present the place as a place of high moral standard. Double standards in everything and the citizens have also bought this double standards in their ways of life. The endemic corruption within the immigration service is mind boggling. |
Never knew that government could place emphasis on landscaping when constructing a building. Looks like a typical scottish countryside to me with beautiful green scenery. I could stay in this kind of place all day meditating, reading, thinking, relaxing and even sleeping. I love nature. I miss Scotland. |
Esseite:Excellent. There is no happiness without family and friends. I cherish my immediate and extended families so much, including the friendship I have built over the years. I stayed in UK for two and half years but just could not enjoy myself because of loneliness and boredom. We have to join hands together to salvage this country. Many middle class have left the country. Go to Lekki phase one and VI and see some empty houses that the owners and their families have relocated and put Aboki there to be maintaining the compound. |
My annoyance is that Agberos and danfo will later occupy half of that road and be loading passengers by the road, creating further traffic. Nigeria's problem get Web. Go to Ajah and see the nonsense Agberos, destitute and street urchins have converted the road and under the bridge into. |
The most efficient and effective between the two. My Ogas did it well then when I was in the banking sector. The one seen as more productive and efficient will always command superiority over his mate of the same cadre. |
