spyder880:Lots of sense in your analysis. I agree. It provides an avenue for open air relaxation and watch events happening outside from the comfort of your home. Very valid points. Very very convincing. However, a well-designed roof tops does it for me. But Bros o, this design you posted here, even with the pillars, looks so beautiful. I wouldn't mind this modern design with pillars. Well done. |
InvertedHammer:Na the matter wey me and my woman take quarrel. Most Nigerians fancy these pillars and believed that the pillars makes the house looks elegant. Far from it. My build is a typical contemporary build with mono pitch roof. But my woman, with her Nigerian mentality, believes that all the houses in Nigeria must have those pillars. Modern architecture don't come with pillars. Usually, it is not the fault of the Architect. It is the client that mostly request the presence of those pillars and high roof |
They should go and arrest his parents. Those without means and not ready to train their kids should have no business with procreation. There are consequences to the society for every child born. Nigerians should stop bringing more idiots and thieves into the world. |
Chest beaters up there spewing rubbish. Some of them will never go near that airport or fly plane in their life. Most people here that involve in all these ethnic vitriolic and banters are low life people, struggling and distanced from realities of life. They think that people are jealous of their little achievements and gets overtly excited over little things. Some up there have already started playing ethnic card for a project that is developmental, a common good and available to anyone to use, irrespective of his location or tribe. We have to outgrow certain sentiments in this country. Our thinking and mentality sometimes could be crude and archaic. |
Just saw two columns of trailers, loaded with herders and horses along kingsway roady, ikoyi going God's no where. I don't know what is happening. |
I wished Bishop Okogie was his superior. Priests in the East gets away with a lot of misconducts. You can't try any nonsense under Okogie or Adewale Martins. 5 years suspension awaits you and if you do more gragra na to tell Pope to derobe you immediately. No time for rubbish. Imagine a priest in a Roman Catholic church behaving like a war lord with militia followers. Enugu Bishop has been a weaklin where Mbaka is and it has come to hunt him back. |
I am not hating but celebrating being a citizen of another country on social media smacks of inferiority complex. This is very common with Nigerians and African players. Mikel Obi did same when he got his UK passport. I was thinking that with their exposure and status, they should maintain some level of dignified silence in things like this. Everything is about God in Nigeria and for Nigerians and that's why our religious leaders are taken advantage and playing mind games with us. As someone asked above, whether God works with Portuguese immigration. In sane countries, things works properly and you don't need one divine miracle to get what belongs to you, unlike here that we keep calling and invoking divine spirit to intercede on our behalf because of man made problems we brought unto ourselves. |
I don't like doing business with family and friends and neighbours. I prefer to deal with a stranger, even if I met the person online. In case of any Bleep up from the person, I would be able to go broke with the person. But once na family or neighbour, it would always be difficult to explore more radical and brutal ways of dealing with the issue. You shouldn't have returned the car. Pay all the duties and registration, count your loses and move on. I don't like being dragged behind by transactions that have gone wrong. I will count my pains and losses and learn from there and take it behind me. Trust me, this incidence will keep disturbing you and you would always be thinking on what to do next. These issues have ways of weighing one down. So, find a way to get past it and not to prolong it even further and save yourself unnecessary stress and BP. The stress of being a Nigerian and living in Nigeria is already too much. |
The project may be about contracts after all. Before you knew it, we will be told that N500bn were spent on the project without any good intention. Contracts would likely be awarded to cronies. I did NIN under Obasonjo with huge budgetary approval and my card is now useless, despite the stress we went through. Now, government is repeating the same process. The only data capturing exercise that was done in this country with good result was BVN. Just because it was championed by the private sector. If government was to have handled that BVN, it would still have failed. |
I support this move but implementation of laws has become a difficult task in Nigeria. Just like someone said, banning Okada will also help but the problem with Nigeria is that some people will misinterpret it and say that their people are being targeted by the ban and would threaten the nation and further retaliate. I blame Ambode for this Okada menace. Fashola did a good job by banning them and there was decency on the road but Ambode just kept mute and the thing went beyond control. Banning okada now will be disastrous for the state with great difficulty. |
Oba Otudeko won't go down without a fight. Regarded as the doyen of the banking sector and a boardroom strategist. He has finally come to his end and I heard that the man is a boardroom bully. I admire him sha. A lengthy court war is brewing. Lawyers will soon cash out big time. |
People are here lashing at the woman and forgetting how stupid Nigerians could be. Someone already pointed it out that we should not under estimate the stupidity of Nigerian electorates. Those that will vote are not online and don't read all these twitter messages or follow up with happenings in the country. Those that sees the stupidity of Nigerian politicians and follow up with the current happenings are the ones that will not vote. What an irony of a nation!! |
Nawao. Though I respect Pfizer but capitalism is fast taking over this pandemic. I was shocked when I heard the Pfizer CEO said people would have to take additional dose, making it three doses. Astrazeneca came and said that people would have to be taken the shots yearly to create the required immunity. All na money dem dey find. This one came out now with tablets. |
n3xt:Nice staircase. Good ideas I got here. I can use this kind of plant/flower holder to act as protector for the first five risers/steps of my staircase instead of handrails. This idea in the picture looks great. I can now do railings for the upper part of the staircase. This makes more sense to me. At least, I have windows by the staircase to provide the needed sunlight to the plants. N3xt, Is that planter beside the staircase concrete or wooden? |
celnozdoors:How much is that white 3 ft door? |
Land plenty for North. We haven't utilised this precious resources well in Nigeria because of insecurity. Imagine what a South African white farmer or a Dutch farmer could do with 16 hectares of land. |
bixton:The whole of forces avenue, William Jumbo, Moscow road, Herbert macaulay, Amadi flat, Nzimiro, Lagos, Ernest Ikoli, Government house/ secretariat areas. I visit PH regularly and very familiar with old GRA. |
This guy is one of the major billionaires in the property and real estate sector. For a man of his calibre, I am sure he has all the documents but government is bent on using him to show example. |
BrabusNG:Quite correct. The drainage system in Lagos is not good. Wike did a fantastic job within the whole of old GRA. I don't know of other areas in PH. You won't see any stagnant water anywhere on the road and the drainage system are all underground. You could hear water flow underground if you walk around after heavy downpour. |
BrabusNG:This man!! I agreed biko. Experience trumps certificates. Some are parading lot of certifications, yet, one Baba Lati could still take them to the cleaners when it comes to the real thing. Drop picture of this french drains make we see. Sure, we will install rain gutters but you know Ajah and Lekki axis well as torrential rains could be unforgiven in those areas. To be sincere, I haven't seen much build in that axis with natural grass lawns or walkways. It is only in PH that I saw lot of homes with lawns without stagnant water retention issues, especially in the old GRA area of PH. Most homes there have well maintained lawns without stagnant waters. |
EgunMogaji2:I saw the one posted by emmadejust. Those ones with key, moveable joints and screws that you could open and push to the end of the walls makes more sense. Some Ghanians artisans did something like that and posted on you tube. |
BrabusNG:N3xt, how are you going to channel water out of that walkways with grasses and concrete walk ways? This is exactly what I have and want but I was told that it would be difficult for water, especially after heavy rains to flow out from that side walk ways and back yard with grasses, especially in areas pruned to flooding and high water table like lekki. It is only when you have concrete floors, interlocking or stamped concrete that rain water could be able to flow out well from the compound and channelled to the outside gutter. I hate the sight of stagnant waters after heavy downpours in a compound and I wouldn't want waters settling on grass lawns after heavy downpours. |
emmadejust:Nice one emmadejust. Which means there must be bolt or key luck to be used?? |
EgunMogaji2:Oga Egun, you still don't want to show us this openable burglary. I understand the security risk involve in showing this in a public forum but it could be cropped out just to see it. I am interested in the openable burglary thing for windows. |
n3xt:But you were still able to produce a replica of that door naa |
Just find a way of disconnecting yourself from dependency on Nigerian government. We now provide our own electricity via generators, inverter and solar, pay estate security for our security, build our own houses, send our children to private schools, buy cars to help with our transportation, dig borehole for water and pay heavily to have meals on our table. |
Nigerians and their stupid religion fanatics. See how OP is saying this as if that was an achievement. Somewhere in Asia or America, an inventor would post a picture of him in his garage, cracking his brain to come up with something. Years later, he would post picture of himself and his invention. Here in Nigeria, we glorify ourselves with religion. Something that should be private. OP, I am not interested if you are a born again or not. I am interested in your contribution to humanity. |
The Aboki trailer driver never take him weed for morning. If to say him don take him weed, hehehe, na crushing mode him go de |
I have read people's opinions regarding this issue. MMotimo, n3xt, dongc, dixton etc. Your comments have been noted. I need to clear the issue on the N120K additional costs. I couldn't get back my refund from hslbroker when I requested for it, neither did I take delivery of the windows as at when due. Even if hslbroker had told me that I would pay additional 300k for the windows, I would still have "deceptively" agreed. Giving Monkey a cup of water is not the problem. The problem is collecting back the cup. You have to outsmart it, beat it to its own game or at very worst, be at par with it to collect back your cup. This was exactly the strategy I employed. MMotimo noted that strategy in his comments. HSLbroker was duly informed of the additional costs of transportation and nets I was about to pay Adedward. My windows were supposed to come with sliding nets as earlier agreed with hslbroker but he went ahead to instruct Adedward to do fixed nets, which were cheaper. I knew that waiting for him to mobilize Adedward to do sliding nets would be tough. I had to give Adedward the N40K to do the nets, which I also informed hslbroker. On the transportation cost, he paid only N20k to Adedeward, which was not enough to move the goods to Ajah as the initial money I paid hslbroker was inclusive of transportation to my site within seven days. I had to advance Adedward another N10K, which is to the knowledge of HSLbroker. I told him he should ensure he mobilized Adedward to move the windows, but the funds were not forthcoming from hslbroker. When I finally got the windows, they were made of "thick imported materials" as against "tower" as agreed with hslbroker. I raised it with him, he did not say anything. I raised it also with Adedward, he said what hslbroker gave him could only do windows made of "thick imported materials" as at that time and that doing windows with "tower" would be more expensive. This was something that could have been avoided if my windows were done as at when due and agreed. On the issue that I displayed the windows here for people to see, which proved my acceptance of the windows. My brother, that display was at the behest of hslbroker. He requested that I show case the windows as a way of somehow "white washing" his already battered image, which I later got to know. Some discerning minds in this forum got the message that I was trying to "white wash" or do a mini PR for hslbroker. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I did him that favor not to be seen as a stumbling block to his business, which is somehow, against business ethics. The "thick imported materials" made windows have started to show signs of weariness, bending, twisting compare to my other windows made of tower and EBM. The question now is: hslbroker said I owe him N120K. I spent additional N50k on services he ought to have paid himself, which means, I now "owe" him N70K. Is the N70K sufficient to compensate me for taken delivery of far lower quality " thick imported material" made windows as against "tower" made windows paid for and agreed with hslboker? If I had rejected the windows for not meeting up with specifications, trust me, I wouldn't be able to get refund from hslbroker, neither would I be able to get "tower" made windows from him. I didn't include the 25k I gave Adedward for fixing the broken windows as that was my own way of supporting him to fix the windows, which hslbroker did not cause. So, I did not attribute that cost to hslbroker. Hslbroker sent me pictures of his sick body, with something that looked like malignant tumors on his skins. I have not met hslbroker before in person and I wouldn't know if the pictures were real, as his integrity and character are unreliable. I wanted to share the pictures for people that have met him to confirm if he was the one and actually sick, but the pictures were too graphic that I had to delete them from my whatsapp. As humans, sometimes, compassion trumps logic and I may be compelled to send something to him as a way of supporting his recovery, count my losses and move on. Not because he was right. These were windows that I could have taken delivery at N300K, with tower material made and now being asked by hslbroker for additional money on the premise that I "agreed" his additional costs and he still delivered below our agreed specifications. |
Pride everywhere! I would love to run into a former colleague that is now far more successful than me. So OP, you want to run into a colleague that is in the same league as you? |
And some people were busy lambasting the OP that posted the pictures of University of Cape Coast, saying that OAU have more structures than UCC. My people, it is not about gigantic ugly looking structures. It is about decency, civility, cleanliness and access to basic things like portable pipe born water, electricity, pedestrian walkways,, functional laundry rooms for students and decent hostels. All these are lacking in a typical Nigerian University. I enjoyed all these basic amenities as a student in UK and felt a sense of fulfillment for schooling there. I sympathize with Nigerian students as schooling here is very hellish and I don't intend to send any of my kids to public universities in Nigeria. Environment matters in education, especially higher education and studying in a conducive and civil environment and surrounding is very important. |
hslbroker2:To be sincere, I wanted to ignore you because I knew it would amount to this rubbish and dirtiness. Who is Ibibison? I don't even know the person. What link has this to do with what we are saying? I hope you are not mistaken me? If you are in doubt, ask Adedward what was paid to him. Bro, please bye. |
