I am in a dilemma and I need advice on what to do.
A bit of background about myself: I am a 29 years only child from a very poor background. I work for an IT firm which i joined in 2019 as a graduate trainee.
My total income is around 490k (400k from main job, 90k from a writing side gig).
My challenge: Recently, My host have told me to look for my accommodation and I have been searching for houses. Unfortunately, the places closer to my places of work is expensive.
I work in VI and the cheapest mini flat I have seen in close vicinity is 1.2M at Ajah.
I also have have a building project I am undertaking in the village that is at roofing stage and my parents have been pressuring me to settle down as the only child.
My dilemma is this, If i go for the house at Ajah, it will eat a bulk of my savings, thereby making it impossible for me to complete the building project or even start the process of settling down.
If I go for a cheaper but farer location, I will be spending more time in traffic.
Please, how do I manage this?
Search for a mini flat on mainland prefarable around palm Grove area or Bariga
Its close to the Island and live there So that you can pack out from where you are presently, your just have tried so much for you
Or search any where you choose but try mainland they are quite cheaper
As for your building project, it will be placed on hold so that you can get your accommodation and then plan to marry
After eh above two things are settled You can save towards the village project and continue from where you stopped

Well! U ask about the place I was hustling while in school.... I would have love to go back but my place has been taken cos someone else has taken over, I was into teaching.

Hello! Guys ..... I'm in a depress state right now cos life as been so tough and miserable for me. Sometimes I feel like just taking my life. This is how it goes..... My Dad has always been promising me heaven and earth while I was still immatured and I nurture that in mind thinking there is no need for me to stress myself since my Dad is well connected. I rounded up my Degree program at school since last year and till date I have not been given my result due to some issues from d school.... So Dad ask me to come home that he has a job for me, as in . So I transported myself home by the time I got home I discovered there was no work anyway and ever since then I was left stranded till dis very moment. Dad was never at home to see what I was going through for d past 9month I've been at home. It got to a point that my step mother that's not up to a year that my Dad got married to is now giving me attitude saying I've over stayed my welcome. I have an elder brother who would be rounding up soon in school, so Dad ask him to comeover without any plan for him... So I told him not to come. so that he won't end up just like me, we happen to stay in 1 sef con which has just a parlor and a single room and we are 4children/adult ( cos I and my brother are no longer kid anymore) in d family and I can't imagine us staying in same roof in a remote environment in which u can't work to get means of income., Sometimes I Dodge my neighbors just to avoid them from unnecessary misjudgment. Growing up life was smooth for us all as i came from a family of 5 and i was the second to the last born,my family was middle class so we lived quite a comfortable life which was short lived by the passing away of my father and ever since life has been one hell of a hardship after another. shortly after the death of my father we left lagos for our village and that was the start of all our hardship. I was just 9 years old at that time and for whatever reason my mum took it upon herself to make me suffer as she would deliberately starve me for up to 3 weeks and even deny me entry into our own home for no tangible reason,so right from age 9 i started hustling for food like most street and homeless children do and mind you we had all sorts of food at home and any time i was at home she would tie me up and give me bloody beatings and sometimes i would go unconscious as a result of those beatings as she used to hit me with anything her hands could hold even metal bars.....so i started avoiding home by all means as it was the last place on earth i could really call home and now I'm around 27 years of age and i don't want anything to do with her as anytime i remember her i would feel really sad and my heart heavy asl.i can go months without hearing from her as we now live in different states.....and she still lives in my head rent free as i always remember her before i go to sleep crying.i try to preoccupy myself with learning useful skills like programming but funds are my major hindrance but i still bust my ass every day to make a decent living and make sure i give my kids the life they deserve full of love and happiness........... I got posted to a location yesterday as a security guard 24 hours shift, when i got there i met 2 colleagues on duty. Everything was normal nothing will make you think this guy is gay, normal dude cool haircut, probably in the late twenties, black, he's from the north. I noticed one thing tho he spent time on video call chatting with his guy and they both spoke hausa for long which i didn't even understand a bit. The way out is to either endure and forget about it

My younger bro has been a thorn in our flesh even before my dad died. My late dad kept complaining about him. Bad friends, taking drugs and living an immoral life. This continued and affected his academics and he dropped out from the university.

safarifarms: I don't have problems with my turkey getting broody and sitting on their eggs. In fact I'm surprised at hearing this issue you guys are complaining about. I think what should likely be the problem is lack of suitable egg brooding spot for the birds. Chickens and turkeys like small secluded places where they could have some kind of privacy for laying and hatching eggs. So you need to make such places available for your birds.
My main parent stock turkeys are in an uncompleted building room. The toilet of the room is where they used to lay and hatch. I'd partitioned the space into two so that at least 2 can conveniently brood and hatch at a time. However, after having some nasty experience of 3 of them choosing to use one of the 2 spots to lay and brood together which resulted in a costly mess, I'd stopped allowing them to hatch. What I simply did is to close the door to the toilet and pick the eggs the next morning. At the initial time one still went broody and I'll have to lift it in the morning to remove the eggs. Then I began to monitor and pick the eggs each day, but now even when I pick the eggs the next day, they don't go broody again.
The turkeys that I have outside in semi-free range are getting broody and hatching without issues. Only challenge I do have with them is them laying eggs carelessly in wrong places. Like their sleeping pen, the floor of the outside place where their feeders are and one time they even laid eggs in the open between pineapple stands. I went to find 7 rain soaked eggs.
When they lay in wrong places I keep picking the eggs till they realize that the place is not safe and change (hopefully to designated places or some other place that I find okay to allow them. And to help get them to use designated places, I'll place at least an egg there and sometimes take the hen that is currently laying to show the spot with the egg (if I could identify). They'll most likely learn.
So I believe it's all about a convenient brooding spot for them.

They were more focus on the fact that he comes from a neighboring village from us and that he was a doctor. (Meanwhile he’s actually a nurse, but he told them, that he was a doctor, he also never mentioned to them that he was married and had a child, before they decided to introduce him to me)
So we eventually started talking on WhatsApp, he saw some of my pictures already and he was mesmerized. In fact he was already kind of making me his wife in that moment. So one day he called me and we were just talking,and I heard like a toddler crying so bad and needed his attention, I asked him who was that , he told me it was his daughter, there was this awkward silence for almost five minutes of us not saying anything, so I told him I’ll call him back. I called my mother that day and was mad as hell, that they didn’t disclose such information to me, but from my mother’s reaction she had no idea, and she was also mad and she told me, she will call me back, so she could verify from my uncle, since that’s his friend. Even my uncle too had no idea. To cut the whole story short, he later called me the next day on a video call, and he started telling me about his wife( Yes! She’s still his wife, because I don’t think he has divorced her yet)and how abusive she was, and how he tried to make it work, but she was so crazy and stuff like that. That he’s actually trying to get shared custody of the child. That he’s no longer married to her. I was not really having it, because I just felt like he wasn’t being honest with certain things and on top of that his wife is still in the picture, and I don’t know if I want to settle for that. Also he just turned 40, and I’m 25. So the age gap is too much for me. Also I have not met him in real life, cause he stays in a different state from me, my family still wanted me to be open minded until I see him in person, then I could make a decision if I want him or not. He always sends me pictures of his daughter, and he recently sent me one with his first wife and daughter, I was surprised that he did, and he said he wanted to show me the daughter instead. I still felt like I didn’t need to see a picture of her. I started seeing the red flags of him that I couldn’t settle with. Also the way he talked about the wife was vulgar, and I felt like he didn’t need to tell me about her in that manner.
Now the most recent thing he started doing was sending me random stuff about marriage to my WhatsApp. I usually glance at it,and don’t reply, cause I don’t know why he’s sending me that. If one cannot afford a tomahawk steak, then go for new york strip cut as an alternative. Nigerians need to learn how to sew their clothes not according to their size but according to their cloth. If the material is not big enough to sew an agbada style, instead of going about naked, sew an ordinary shirt and trouser which is just common sense.
