I am sorry to say this, as I’m not used to abusing anybody. But this time, I’ll say it’s foolishness to ascribe #EndSARS protest to political influence. Mr. Adesina, I was beaten mercilessly by men of SARS in 2016 for speaking my mind. Are you saying that my agitation to end SARS was politically motivated? Did anybody tell you that I belong to any political party? Please, do not aggravate an already tensed polity. We have come to realize that it is better for you (people at the federal level) to keep quiet rather than say anything about the crises we have found ourselves. I think our governors should be empowered to treat security issues. |
Why will a country be on fire and the president is nowhere to be found? The president is even mute! When he had a meeting with his ministers (FEC meeting) he said nothing about #LekkiMassacre of 20.10.2020. President Muhammadu Buhari’s silence is killing this nation politically and economically. He needs to speak and act swiftly. In acting, he should be just and fair! We need a restoration of civility in Nigeria. |
The Nigerian Army disrespected the Nigerian Flag. The Lekki protesters were peaceful, they sat down on the floor and waved hundreds of the Nigerian flag, yet the bullets rained on them. |
This is terrible. The videos show peaceful protest. So, why will the police take this brutal and inhuman action against peaceful protesters? Come to think of it, this is even in Abuja, the Head Quarters of the Nigeria Police, the place where the Inspector General of Police stayed to release the caution against SARS. Yet, it is the police in Abuja that is taking this inhuman action. The truth be told, SARS is like a pandemic. I am not a yahoo boy, I do not dress roughly, I do not keep dread locks, I do not have tattoos (none of the mentioned is a reason for SARS irresponsible actions), but in 2016, I was beaten mercilessly by 6 SARS officers (who used a commercial bus) for excusing them for me to pass on a road. These me used guns on my knees, gave me terrible knocks on my neck and tried to bring me down to the mud. I ended up in hospital the next day. Fortunately, the medical assessment showed that I had no internal bleeding or fracture (though I had terrible pains). Interestingly, when I went to the police station in the area to complain, the policemen claimed that the men of SARS were not from their station. |
These are pictures without words, but what they depict need not words to interpret them. In fact, the pictures themselves could be heard like sounds from a collection of mega speakers. |
Hmm! Does it make sense that people in Saudi Arabia live better lives than Nigerians? Does it make sense that Saudi Arabians have better, committed, truthful and trustworthy political leaders than Nigeria? Abeg! Abeg!! Abeg!!! I'm saying "abeg" because I don't want to talk too much. Make we just acknowledge sey today na 1 October 2020, that is 60 years after Nigerian gain independence. All the talk of "taking 100 million people out of poverty", "PDP 16 years of misrule", etc keep surfacing during such broadcasts. No let me talk plenty today o! |
This is unfortunate. In fact, it is an irresponsible act. Come to think of it, he is a lawyer. Thinking further, he is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. In conclusion, it is a shameful act from someone who ought to know better and in a position to advise/advocate against this act. To the people of Ondo, if you like, sell your votes for N200 notes thrown at you. If you sell your votes on that basis, do not complain later that the governor is not working. While I am not advocating that you should vote or not vote for Akeredolu, just ensure that your votes is not predicated on the 200 naira or any note thrown at you or tossed in the air for you to pick. Let your conscience be the voice you will listen as you cast your votes. Good luck to the people of Ondo State. |
Gov. Wike of Rivers State does not mince words. If he says he is going to carry out a project, be rest assured, he will do it. He will even visit the sites to ensure that the work is going on as expected. If the guy says he will not do a project, it is difficult, if not impossible to lure him into doing that project. The project that readily comes to mind is the Amaechi's mono rail project, which Gov. Wike and a lot of Port Harcourt people see as a useless and less thought out project. |
Inasmuch as Gov. Obaseki may be saying the truth, if I have the opportunity to advise him, I'll tell him to leave the past and focus on the future. He should go back and check the list of promises he made during his campaign tours and manifestos and start carrying out the promises. He should please not bother about the areas that voted him or not. He should just fulfil his campaign promises across the state. Gov. Obaseki is currently a symbol of hope for the Nigerian electorates. The hope of the Nigerian electorates will be complete when the governor performs according to his promises. Please governor, leave issues of Tinubu and Oshiomhole alone. Let the people decide their political fate. Just focus on governance. |
Why can't we patronize Made in Nigeria vehicles? Must we consistently send out cash to other countries all in the name of acting big? Why can't companies buy Made in Nigerian cars for their employees? I don't commend Nigerians that spend this stupendous amount of money on foreign products that are readily available in Nigeria. So, pardon me. I did not bother to read the story. |
Even the Nigerian Police need to be commended. For the first time, the police acted independently and allowed the people to exercise their franchise without intimidation or molestation. For the first time, the Police prevented ballot box snatching unlike in the past that the police aided or indeed carried out the ballot box snatching. I hope that the current IGP will ensures that his men continue to exhibit such professionalism displayed during the Edo election. I also hope that this professionalism will also be exhibited on the streets by the Nigerian Police. So, please let's also commend the Nigerian Police! |
Dear Nigerians, the Edo Election is not a party thing o! It is the PEOPLE's thing. The people voted for a man of their choice and stood by him. |
I congratulate the people of Edo for being resilient. They were not cowed by the lies of the so-called godfathers of Nigerian politics. They held their own and defended their votes. They obviously rejected the advances made at them to sell their votes and consciences. The Edo people are indeed examples of how Nigerian electorates should be. I wish the doggedness of the Edo people in this Edo Election will serve as a reference point for all Nigerian electorates at every election in Nigeria. Vote according to your conscience and damn the moneybags and godfathers. I also commend INEC and the security personnel. While following the elections, I kept asking myself what had happened to these people (security personnel) that they were acting independent and allowing the people to freely exercise their franchise. I was particularly shocked that they thwarted ballot box snatching. I asked myself if this was an election in Nigeria. I pray that whatever engineered this noninterference and display of independence by INEC and the security person should continue in this country. We the people need to take back our own, which is the right to choose our leaders. |
Why must we continue to be shouting "One Nigeria", but using clandestine means to split the Nigerian Bar Association (obviously along tribal/regional lines)? |
Is Malami's action not a clandestine ploy for the NewNBA to actualize their goal? Obviously, the courts have recognized the use of NBA stamp by lawyers on court processes filed in court, and this has yielded good results. Fake lawyers have been identified through the implementation of the NBA stamp use. I think the AGF's action is to ensure that the NewNBA can be formed and functional without the need for their members to use the stamp. If this conspiracy theory is correct, then I'm sorry to say, it has opened up the space again for fake lawyers. This is appalling!!! |
Do that which will make you have clear conscience. If assisting will clear your conscience and make you happy, please do not hesitate to assist. This is particularly so, where you are able to assist. If you think not assisting someone in need will clear your conscience, well, don't assist. But you note I said "someone in need". But going by what you have written, I think you are able to assist and your assistance will keep your mind at peace. |
I think computer-based exams with staggered questions for all students should be the way. These days, participating in exam malpractice is like a thing of pride. SMH for the future. |
Peter Odili is a former governor of Rivers State but he’s not an Ikwerre man. |
Do you mean power shift from APC to PDP? I do not understand. Well, what concerns me with political parties in Nigeria? The only obligation I have is to know that by Nigerian law, there should be political parties and an elected person must be of a political party. Otherwise, I would not have bothered with the name of any political party in Nigeria. Political parties without identifiable ideologies. |
Sluggishster United!!! |
In my opinion, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the cause of Man U’s defeat yesterday. He dropped his formidable FA Cup team and relied on inexperience players as well as an overworked De Gea. I think he was even ashamed to replace De Gea with Romero when De Gea made his first blunder. Ighalo that was hungry was made to stay starved on the bench until his entrance became irrelevant. It is unfortunate. Solskjaer has the opportunity to go above Leicester. Hope he takes the full opportunity without any compromise. |
This is a clarion call for the people of Nigeria to look before they leap. When the days of election come, PLEASE, PLEASE and PLEASE vote persons of integrity into those elective offices. The elected ones should then appoint persons of integrity into ministries, departments and agencies. If we the people do not do that, we will not have the right to complain when these things play out. Oh Nigeria! Where goeth thou! |
Hope PDP has learnt lessons from the past o!? In as much as Obaseki is keen on continuing as the governor of Edo State, I’m not sure he picked the governorship form of the PDP within time. I’m not sure he’s screened by the PDP. So, PDP has to tread cautiously. Otherwise, if he picks the PDP ticket and wins the state election, APC and/or the current PDP aspirants may smile to the courts. |
sarrki:Limitation of terms to two terms regarded as “a breach of fundamental rights”? What is wrong with us in this country? Must someone be used to be a clog in the wheel of our progress? Is it now that we are counting down to 2023 that an individual will attend court to look for an extension of time for presidents and governors? I hope the courts are not used as ready tools? They need to stand for the people of this country. Even the country of democracy, the USA, has not said two term is a breach of the president’s fundamental rights. Abeg, “honourable?”, don’t heat up the polity. We have seen this before. That is, if you know your history. |
Let me add mine. Please, for the sake of LOVE, do not proceed. However, proceed if you HATE your wife, as she may be crying all day everyday after giving birth to an SS child. Proceed if you HATE yourself, because, you will be crying all day everyday and be regretting the date of your wedding. Proceed if you HATE your unborn children, because you may see them in pains everyday and you will be helpless. Mind you giving birth to SS children is an avenue to avoidable spending. My brother, children are blessings. They are not to be punished intentionally for no fault of their. PLEASE, PLEASE, if you truly love you fiancé, make her your friend and marry an AA spouse. Meanwhile, let’s love all, including SS. They deserved to be loved. |
What else will I say? It is unfortunate! This is not a general election. Kano State should not compete to have the highest number of Covid-19 patients in Nigeria. |
May this be true because the wastage in governance in Nigeria is over the roof, unimaginable and despicable. |
Kano governor's request for President Buhari to relax the lockdown just 3 days after the president's directive speaks volumes. I explains why people threw social distancing to the winds with less abandon. How can a state that would have overtaken Lagos State as the epicenter of Covid-19 (if proper tests at carried out) be asking for relaxation of lockdown directive. This explains why football competition and prayers with large gatherings were held and the governor did nothing. May God forgive us for choosing the kind of leaders we have, and help us to amend our ways. May He also deliver us from this current pandemic. |
Oga Kwakwanso, thank you for your concern. It is laudable. But one thing I need to say in response is that Kano State is clamoring to be the epicenter of the virus in a few days, not months, as you said. If NCDC commences testing in Kano State tomorrow, I’m afraid, Lagos State confirmed positive case number may be a toy. Kano people have displayed a high level of ineptitude and carelessness during this Covid-19 era. I must say that it is unfortunate. More unfortunate is that their attitude could put unprecedented pressure on our medical personnel and facilities. Kano people and government, I beg you, have pity on our medical personnel. Stay safe and at home, so that they can also have time to rest and be with their family. President Buhari, I join Oga Kwankwanso to also beg you to intervene. |
Unfortunate! What I see in Kano is disbelief and ignorance. Why will people throng a place to pray for the dead, and organize a corona football competition when there is a virus that is biting hard? Well, I think they see the jingles and adverts on corona virus as a political thing. What can I say, even the Governor wears COVID-19 cap, as if it is a political campaign. The way I see it, the ineptitude of the Kano people towards this current pandemic may overwhelm the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19, the NCDC and the doctors to a point that they may give up and only pray for a vaccine to come out and be widely administered. On a serious note EVERYBODY IN KANO MUST BE ON COMPULSORY LOCKDOWN. The President urgently needs to make a nationwide broadcast and put the military on the streets of Kano to ensure compliance. Otherwise, Nigeria as a whole should just forget the containment of the virus and pray for the vaccine to be out. |
We do not advocate that you should flog them. What you should do is simple. All the persons have be identified. It means you know those that flouted the stay-at-home directive of the President. Prosecute them as Funke Akindele was prosecuted and let them be sentenced. |
