Poster I have taken it upon myself to keep repeating this till you acknowledge you have heard me. Any doctor here will understand why the emphasis. People go to all manner of stupid places looking for pastors and prophets and herbalists to cure what your family is experiencing only to finally destroy any chances of full recovery.

Poster please go to a Federal Neuropsychiatrist hospital New Heaven Enugh. The earlier you go the better the prognosis. Please. You are in Onitsha, drive down to Federal Neuropsychiatrist Hospital New Heaven Enugu on Monday. Don't make the mistake of going with all these herbal and spiritual solutions.

These are very stupid ideas. That many people are saying it's spiritual doesn't make it true. A lot of people are ignorant and daft! I am pleading with you. That young man is NOT under any attack. Your family is NOT under any curse or attack. Just like diabetics run in some families, this condition is also familial. Please start early to save that young man.

Consultant Neuropsychiatrists will manage this case very well and your brother will be whatever he wants to be so long as he takes his medications. The earlier you commence treatment the better the management.

Please in God's name DO NOT patronize all these prophets, pastors, herbal nonsense. This is a normal case. It's familial. Positive history from your mother's side. It is NOT a curse. It is NOT an attack.

It is a purely medical condition
My brother, the level of our reasoning in this country is pathetic. And we say Buhari is the problem. I think Seun should hide those useless comments on the front page suggesting the matter is spiritual. It actually make us appear foolish to the world. You can imagine other sensible sites like quota and Reddit, when questions are asked you see intelligent response, but a common Schizophrenia, a disease that can be managed is what Nigerians are displaying their foolishness to the world. Ah! God! Why do we even bother to go to school in this part of the world if after schooling we still act like cave men.
I just wonder what Nigerians would say when they encounter more complex mental disorders like MPD.
And once again Seun those comments are an embarrassment to Nigeria as a nation. Please do something.
HealthRe: Help! My Younger Brother Is Going Mad by gaddafe(m): 4:58pm On May 08, 2021
Mrskillz1:
I am from a family of three. I have two brothers. One older and the other younger than me so I'm the only girl in my family.

I grew up seeing my Mom mad.
By my teen age, I got admission into Nnamdi Azikiwe University alongside my elder brother who was to study Engineering. By the time I was in my finals, my brother was getting ready for IT. One day, his roommate sent for me, he said they couldn't sleep the night before because my brother was talking to himself. Before we knew what was happening, my brother was getting violent and so we took him home and he never got back to finish school.
I proceeded with my education and finished. Went for NYSC. While serving the nation, My Mom died. When I got home, she'd been buried.
But my brother was still mad.

I later got job, took my brother to a Psychiatric hospital and the doctor after examining him said he is Schizophrenic. He was asked to stay in the hospital.
I paid. He then stayed there for one month. When I came to visit him, he pleaded with me to take him home that he didn't like it there.

So I took him home. Every month, I buy drugs for him and he gets injected. He usually puts up a fight but with the help of my younger brother, neighbors and a certain nurse, he receives the injection, forcefully and against his will.
Often times, he pleads with me not to inject him, the very time I obliged him, he scattered things, didn't allow the neighborhood sleep, talked throughout some nights and wouldn't eat sometimes. He looked really sick then but with the injection, one will hardly know he's not normal.
I told him that I won't let him miss his injection ever again.

Now, on Monday, my younger brother woke up and was unusually quiet. He normally wakes up and begins to play music with his phone or he will turn to football channel and watch until I leave for work. But I didn't go to work on Monday and I noticed he was quiet, then I asked him why he's quiet. He didn't respond. After some hours, I asked my Dad if he feels he's okay, My Dad said that he wants to be quiet and that I should let him be.

Then, that night, around 4am, my brother began to talk. He was shouting and some of the things he said were not coherent. He talked out of point. I and my Dad, with my elder brother surrounded him and I couldn't help crying when my Dad was cautioning him to keep quiet and he refused.
Neighbours thought it was my elder brother's voice they'd heard that night but by the time they heard in the morning that it was my younger brother, they visited my Dad in the evening. By then, my brother was still talking and even burnt his clothes yesterday.
My Dad got a few guys to chain him because he was violent yesterday when I left the house.
I know the problem is spiritual. I have prayed, fasted for my elder brother and now this!
I'm so unhappy.

Can someone suggest a place I can take my two brothers to so they can be cured, please.
My sister I don't know the kind of advice you must have have received before this but I want you to know this: IT IS NOT A SPIRITUAL PROBLEM. Why did I say this? My brother suffered from Schizophrenia in 2008 and yes it is as you have explained. The sickness is what we call pure madness in Nigeria. In my brother's case he was given drugs and not injection. I think you guys should have insisted on drugs instead. Till date my brother still uses his drugs and if you are not close to my family you might not know he is suffering from such ailment even if you see him. How was he cured?

I cannot start typing the story here cause that's a long story. Very long story but let me be brief. It was later discovered it was not a spiritual problem but medical. We had prayed, fasted, moved from one hospital to another. It appeared many Nigerian doctors don't understand the sickness. Some will tell us it's serious typhoid. And after spending heavily sometimes the figures running to millions before we realise it's bullshit. We moved from one spiritual home to another. I visited native doctors (or witch doctor, whatever you call it), various pastors and everything I think I could do. I was mentally drained. It was then I came to this conclusion.
1. There might be no God.
2. The pastor's we have in Nigeria are fake. You would not know this until you are in serious issues like this
3. Science is based on trial and error. You can't even be sure if the medicine you are given will cure your disease or kill you. I actually prayed before he took any drug or injection.

The solution came when a lady (family friend) visited us. She had heard of my brother's condition and came. This lady prayed, everyone joined her in prayers, speaking in tongues and all that. Before she told us her son who is a neurologist and works with the same General Hospital we had visited severally had his private hospital. We went there and this was his diagnosis:

It appeared that in my brother's case, it was a result of how he was delivered at birth. The neurologist requested to speak with the doctor that delivered him and he questioned him. Thankfully the man was still alive. But note that my brother was 18 years by then. My brother was delivered through ceserea operation and some complications led to what he was facing. In my brother's case the Schizophrenia case was more serious than your brother's case because mine usually suffers from seizures from time to time. Note my brother also suffered from serious convulsion when he was younger which was a sign that he would suffer from Schizophrenia in the future but because we were ignorant we took it as normal.

Please this is just a tip of what I passed through. If you were to meet me one on one, I would have told you more than this. Believe me when I say it's just a tip. The main reason I'm telling you this is to encourage you to channel you energy on the medical aspect and forget about anything spiritual for now. There is no road there. I have been through this so I know many friends and family will tell you it's spiritual. Just to fulfill all righteousness you can join them in any spiritual activity they ask you to do but don't allow the activity add stress to your sick brother. For example bathe him naked in the night or make him fast for days. The solution is in MEDICINE. Don't be deceived. I really pity for your brother cause he has passed through a lot from your story. Don't leave him in any psychiatric hospital alone. You wouldn't like what happen to people there. Stay with him and keep Praying. If there is a God, he would answer your prayers.

But I'm mainly taking about our everyday life
in our everyday life it's useful. Everyone will not live the same life. For example, because of the nature of the job of a pastor he might be needing the knowledge from the Bible and English in his everyday life another person might be needing something else like a programmer will tell you how important calculus is to his field.

I've been a mathematics teacher for some years now and I think one major problem pupils face in maths is that they don't even know how and what they study will be applied in a real life situation.

I don't blame you for reasoning this way. it is a reflection of the quality of education you received.

PoliticsRe: The Buhari Regime Lack Money For Weapons & Additional Military Manpower by gaddafe(m): 5:12pm On May 02, 2021
@Elbinawi. The cause of Nigeria's insecurity is not lack of weapons but lack of wisdom from Buhari himself.

A man without hands don't go about looking for trouble. It was Buhari himself that made the situation this bad.

Now let me give you an example. The endsars protest went bizarre because the president felt there was no need to address the people when the protest was still at it's infancy. A simple thing as addressing the public created a huge problem.

Another example is the south east problem. When Buhari came to power, he started calling them 5% and all manner of rubbish, telling them he cannot negotiate with an unarmed group. Now that they are armed I hope he can now negotiate with them?

The insecurity in Nigeria is not due to lack of weapons but just a case of stupidity from the C in C. He thought he had enough soldiers to fight from all fronts. What a stupid assumption. There are a lot of examples to give. I can go on and on.

Well, we cannot just give up and not try. I go to museums wherever I go. Including 9ja and I see people there too. Do we close airports, shopping malls, bus garages and other places because one might be kidnapped or killed? I think not.

All aspects of Nigerian economy are underutilised including finance, manufacturing, tourism, mining, education and agriculture. Despite herdsmen killing farmers, we cannot give up our cocoa, plantain or oil palm plantations or stop farming altogether. That would be defeatist.
Benin can begin to push tourism with cultural festivals, the moat, artwork and the New museum in the offing. Waiting for monthly oil money allocation from Abuja as it is now is not sustainable.
Thailand has tourism police /volunteers who patrol tourist spots. They don't have two heads or 4 hands in Thailand. We can do same.
My answer to your last sentence is "why have we not done it"?
Nobody is saying we should shut down the country because of killings. but what you're saying is like putting the cart before the horse. It is not rubbish but you cannot be developing tourism when there is insecurity everywhere. Let's face it, there is no country that really makes money from tourism from the local population. You have to attract foreigners.
If you tell yourself the truth, do you think foreigners will be willing to visit Nigeria even if we gather all the sculptures in the world here? Even we who are citizens here are afraid to move around not to talk of foreigners.

For example "doctor who" is a series we watched back in 1992 or 1993 if I'm not mistaken. You can't compare that with Prison break and Smallville that aired recently.
FamilyRe: How Do I Instill Boldness And Confidence In My Daughters? by gaddafe(m): 6:36am On May 01, 2021
Hemanwel:
Good morning dear nairalanders!

I have two daughters: one will be 3 years old later in the year and the other will be 1 next month. I noticed that my first daughter is too timid. She gets easily frightened by her peers. She is quiet. She will allow just anybody to carry her - even those whom she is older and bigger than - without any resistance.

I really don't like these attributes about her. I want her to have the boldness to resist some of these things. I want her to be aggressive. I want her to grow up having confidence in doing things her way.
I also wish to instill that in the second child. Thank you!
If you have spare time keep reading various stories for her. stories you know she would like. And please don't try changing her. You would be shocked when she changes because she will definitely change. At the age of 12 to 16 most children become quite aggressive especially the male. It is at this stage she will be needing constant advice. For now please let her and help her enjoy her childhood. Please these type of playing is very important for their sanity in later life

Dude, if you go to top museums of the world like Louvre in Paris, you will know how millions go to see Mona Lisa. Copies of Mona Lisa are everywhere but nobody cares about them. Try to understand how art and culture works regarding paintings, sculpture and other art works. You cannot compare a copy of Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh, or works by Michelangelo to cheap copies.
Oga the reason people visit Paris to see those sculptures is because Paris is safe. If you're told there is a high chance of you being kidnapped in Paris, will you still go there? Are our museums currently loaded with fake materials? How many people visit our museum to see the other original materials we have? This adventure will be a fruitless one. And as someone already said above that the few ones they've returned have been converted to private property. expect something like this

They have produced lots of the stolen ones, using pictures from museums across the world. But copy nor be original. Some are centuries old and very valuable. They are are heritage.
What is actually different from the copy and the original? is it not the same person that did the copy and original? How much have the so called copy generated for the state so far? Don't get me wrong I'm also happy about the development but it's really not worth the effort considering the numerous challenges facing us now

How many Nigerians visit Museums here in Nigeria? These artefacts will just be wasting in our museums except for the few private schools students who will visit to see them in the Museums during excursions. If not that they were stolen, I would have preferred them being borrowed to these countries where the artefacts will generate funds for the real owners of these artefacts. Tourism in Nigeria doesnt sell, the security, political and economic conditions of the country don't encourage tourism embarassed
The main question I have with this development is that "is it that the Benin can no longer produce these artifact that were stolen?"

When you go to Igun in Benin City these guys are talented and can still produce these stuffs. Why didn't they produce the exact types that were stolen? and keep it in the museum so we see how much it can generate before embarking on this useless adventure.

I call it a useless adventure because with insecurity everywhere there is no way tourism can create profit. Traveling on our federal highways require serious fasting and prayers. How many international tourist are ready to become prayer warriors because they want to see a useless bronze sculpture?
