PoliticsRe: Gov. Ajimobi Of Oyo State Has Integrity Issues? by Guk: 4:14pm On Jun 24, 2011
I know its easy to make judgement on a forum like this. Its advisable to be cautious since we are relying on newspaper report and not court record.

I have had 3 experiences with a particular bank as follows:

(1) My account officer withdrew money from my account without a cheque leaf when i was away from the country. He was not aware that i could receive SMS alert via roaming way back about 7 years ago. I called him & he apologised & confessed that he needed to pay back some money he was owing. It was when i returned that i gave him a cheque leaf to regualrise it & collect my money back.

(2) We made a number of deposits at Ikeja branch over a period of a week. I was in V.I & decided to raise a draft based on our perceived balance based on deposits made. Alas, a couple of deposits never entered our account. The teller who collected them kept the monies aside for reasons best known to her. Anyway, it was resolved in the "family affair" way & we were able to raise the draft.

(3) End of October/Begining of November a few years ago, the bank changed software & peoples' account were showing incorrect balances. One day, they called me that my account was in debit, that they mistakenly paid someone 300k, even when 300k was not in my account but by my record, there was 300k. I asked for a printout but the so called 300k was not reflected. They have begged me to repay the 300k but since i cannot see it on the statement, i wasnt sure they were not playing tricks. So, since i have not paid back, am i lacking integrity?? I believe not as they are yet to prove to me that there wasnt money in my account when they honored that 300k.
HealthRe: Pastor Adeboye Builds N100m Cancer Screening And Prevention Center by Guk: 10:35am On Jun 20, 2011
For the benefit of the uninformed, the Centre was conceived and put in place by a collection of RCCG Parishes under the Umbrella called "RCCG Apapa Family". Pastor Adeboye was merely invited to dedicate and declare the place open.

The background to this: On staurday the 8th day of January 2011, Pastor Adeboye addressed all RCCG pastors who were present at a meeting (Thousands were there) & asked them to go back to their respective communities they were located in and implement projects that will impact each community as a way of tocuhing the communities positively. This is just one of the many that has come out of that meeting within half a year.

Please also be aware that the "RCCG Apapa Family" has been feeding the poor free of chargeall over lagos for nothing less than 10 years through a medium called "A Can Can Make A Difference" The soup kitchen is off Barracks Tejuosho road Stadium Surulere. Volunteers are always needed. Give up some internet time & go help out. You can also google what other church missions and NGOs are doing to positively impact peoples live & sign up. The Lord shall ask you what you did in future

FashionRe: Who’s Behind Dame Goodluck Jonathan Stunning Look? by Guk: 1:37pm On Jun 16, 2011
Good for the Makeover Artists i.e Photographer(s); Dresser(s); Make Up Artist(s). More money for their labour & High profile reference for their CVs. Governors' wives are waiting for you.

Unneeded publicity for the 1st family at this point in time.

Inappropraite message being conveyed to the public at such a time like this. (Throwing yourselves on glossy pages in flamboyant apparel when 1 square meals are hard to come across is inappropraite. Nigeria needs a well articulated welfarist system & not adhoc executive wives' pet project inaugurated in designer gear from head to toenails) "emperor Nero played the fiddle while Rome was burning"

Thie is still a carry over from the jamboree of electioneering campaign where they had more money than activities. (A war chest running into hundreds of billions was made available to GEJ to procure president)

At this point in time in Nigeria, i would gladly accept a "Mother Theresa" looking 1st Lady speaking in her native dialect & or pidgin english & bn translated than a megalomanic easily impressionable Dame

PoliticsRe: Lagos Tenancy Bill Passed To Fashola For Signing by Guk: 4:41pm On May 30, 2011
It good to pass a reasonable bill but senseless to do so without finding the root cause of the situation.

You might have noticed that Landlords in Lekki down to Ajah axis are asking for just one years renthuh
Whats the reason?? Supply outstrips Demand & if the trend continues, they will begi to take 6 months &
might eventually lead to allowing people live in your unoccupied buildings free of charge.

No law brought that about but the age long economic law of demand and supply.

Watch out for hotels rate crash too becos soon, it will be cheaper to stay in a hotel on the Island than rent
PoliticsRe: Emir Tongue Lashes Vice President Over Lateness To Palace by Guk: 1:09pm On May 24, 2011
A number of reactions here show that basic Etiquette is lacking in their conduct in life.

No matter what position you occupy, you are not above etiquette. It shows respect;
it shows your attitude; it shows your disposition & approach to things you ar involved in
whether big or small.

If you give someone an appointment for 10am & cant make it; phone, apologise & choose
another time that is mutually acceptable. Is there any big deal in that?? If you dont, then
you deserve whatever reprimand you get. Simple!!!

There is no political; religious; tribal undertone to this, its just plain & simple etiquette & respect
BusinessRe: Island Power Project (Lagos) To Generate 10MW by Guk: 9:07am On May 24, 2011
Pls note that my inferences are relying on the facts provided.

This project & other such in Lagos state is a typical BEST PRACTICE WORKAROUND  because at the moment, your state IPP is meant to feed into the National Grid & enjoyed by all, but unfortunately, that hasnt had much effect so what Lagos has done & is doing is akin to a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

This is possible on small scales in Nigeria today and should serve as temp measures.

For those who do not know or are not observant, Broad street lagos  & some of it environs dont have NEPA electric poles but underground cables so this 10MW IPP is serving as a BIG GENERATOR thereby circumventing but not contravening the law that your IPP has to be connected to National Grid.

This is a simple model that can and should be encouraged and replicated & its not rocket science. NLNG provides the same to Bonny town & i think Finima. Something similar has operated in Rayfield in Jos for at least a decade.

We should be solution providers & not waste preciuos time arguing & criticising, but learn, be provoked & seek to improve on what others have done. So, how can this be introduced to our neighbourhood?? Thats what should be on our minds & thus form our action plan

Environmentally, it takes scores of emission out of circulation
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Directs Dangote, Others To Crash Cement Prices Within 30 Days by Guk: 2:08pm On May 17, 2011
Permit me pls. That directive is an insult. Who do they think they are foolinghuh Economics 101, you cant decree Demand & Supply.

Mistake 101: GEJ persists in his gaffes. I want this man to succeed but he needs to help himself quickly by going back to school for simple management principles. They can give him evenong lesson at the BQ at Aso Rock.

The body language of Dangote & Rabiu (SAMAD) said it all. & am seriously hoping Dangote did not say 6,000 trucks were recently losthuh as that will say a lot about how his business is run!!

Anyway, its all a charade & by the way, who weighs cement after he/she purchases ithuh The price might come down & the weight might also reduce to 48kg, if it does, who do we report to??

Mistakes have already bn made, GEJ, lets look for intelligent solutions pls!
CrimeRe: Stabbed (nigerian) Teen Was Killed For His Phone by Guk: 5:14pm On May 16, 2011
Whilst not derogatory, we need to think through our replies before we post them. A couple of posters have reacted that whats the High Commission's business in this; whats Nigerian govt in this.

Its a pity that as Nigerians, we have developed an i dont care attitude towards ourselves therefore our expectations of our leaders to us is ZERO. Some of the respondents possibly live in the UK but unfortuantely UK has not rubbed off them. The High Commision is what it is because we do not demand the desired from them.

How can we have a High commission somewhere & you say whats their business with British born Nigerians. What is the High Commission there for. The FCO (Foreign & Commonwealth Office) provides their citizens all over the world with security & situation reports. Do ourshuh The Oyinbo man provides crime information about its own country internally and that helps me in choosing which areas to avoid.

Our next generation is been wiped out with violence & we say its their problem becos of where they live.

The question, what can the Nigerian govt do, is what makes our govt react slowly in evacuating us in troubled areas
CrimeRe: Stabbed (nigerian) Teen Was Killed For His Phone by Guk: 2:23pm On May 16, 2011
Root cause(s) of these deaths need to be looked into, too many too often.
At least half a dozen teenage Nigerians have died from such violence in London in 2011 alone.
What is the Niagerian High Commission doing?
What is Bianca Ojukwu, Special Adviser to GEJ on Diaspora doing?
What is Abike Dabiri, Chairperson, House Commitee on Diaspora doing?

PoliticsRe: Is The Fg Really Serious About Improving Power Supply? by Guk: 9:40pm On May 09, 2011
Whilst one is hopeful, we should also hold our leaders accountable. It is saddening that they can blow trumpet that Multi Billions =N= spent to generate 375MW. Thats just enough to power 156,250 electric kettles & d VP is proud to blow grammar on TV about it. We are not serious, we spend too much to achieve little things & he was also proud to say the WHole President & C in C will commission in in 6 months time. Ask how much the visit of the VP & President has & will cost Nigeria. Such ceremonies shld be left to local govt chairman. Absolutely nothing to celebrate. My fear is GEJ will empty d treasury to actualise ds promise.

But on a positive note, lets be hopeful
PoliticsRe: Imo State Supplementary Election Results And Proceedings by Guk: 12:17pm On May 07, 2011
Ikedi Ohakim you were not listening in elementary school when they taught you "Pride goes before a Fall".

You had been perpetuating your own downfall since when you became governor. Your impunity was glaring when not long after you became gov, you came to Lagos & on your way to the Airport on a sunday morning, you watched as you security men beat up a woman who was driving from church for daring to be slow on the road in front of u.

Sometime thereafter, you did similar to a Catholic priest in Imo state. On both occassions, you found it unheard of for a gov to apologise. Your arrogance had no limits & you boasted without substance.

I hope you sit back & look at where things went wrong & seek to correct them for the future. \

GEJ might in sympathy give you a ministerial or ambassadorial position but please take it easy, gra gra dosent always prevail

PoliticsRe: Official Results Of Presidential Election: By INEC by Guk: 11:09am On Apr 18, 2011
Congratulations President Goodluck Jonathan though you still have to prove to us that you are the change we desire. Your antecedents don't point to that, but we give you the benefit of doubt.

You made a promise to leave in 2015, dont let the curse of the poisoned chalice of Aso rock corrupt you because you shall be encouraged by sychopahants to seek another term & the devil inside you might just wake up at that time.

What do we expect from you: Provide the enabling environment that will produce more change agents like CBN gov & INEC Chairman so that 21st century proven personalities like Rivers Gov Rotimi Amaechi; Lagos Gov Fashola & Jigawa Gov Lamido can become our President or VP come 2015. Those 3 come readily to mind as those who can turn Nigeria around and give Nigerians the pride of place in the committee of nations.

We dont expect that you will succeed in tackling Power & Petroleum products because you cannot move against those who bankrolled your elections but rather you shall handover the resources of the nation to them & the common man will be further impoverished, its simple commosense

Make no mistake, you are a president of convinience
PoliticsRe: Jega Offers To Resign, Jonathan Rejects; Resignation Amounts To Treason – Agf by Guk: 2:55pm On Apr 04, 2011
Those who are feeling pity for Jega or commending him for been real or transparent have it all wrong, infact its the opposite like (a) Concealing material facts (b) Publicity hugging (seem more on TV than elsewhere) (c) Unlearned (d)Showboating (e) I dont care attitude

Jega went before NCS & FEC on Wednesday to say INEC was ready when he knew materials had not arrived.

Jega had a press conference on Friday 1st of April & declared that INEC was ready

He lacks the managerial & administrative capacity to handle such a task. Organising elections in Nigeria is a Humongous Logistics nightmare & i say he is Unlearned because there were lessons from the challenges; failures & success of the registration exercise that he did not learn from and apply this time around.

Nothing was learnt from Delta rerun of January becos the process of voting at the polling centre is cumbersome. On being accredited, why couldnt we be given our voters card and go & vote immediately and have the right hand thumb nai printed in orange?

Lack of Stakeholder analysis and stakeholder management

Lack of awareness of impact of postponement to the economy

I dont care attitude because practically every polling both had some many people who couldnt find their names during accreditation but as far as INEC was concerned, we told you to come and cross check your names after registration, you didnt, so is it our business?? Once INEC noticed that names of those who registered vastly varies from their accreditation list, they shld have carried out an awareness campaign for people to come for verification
