Women politics could be very trivial.Have u ever worked in a school or hospital, women dominated work environment? It feels like a mental home some times.Just my observations.
lol. what makes it trivial? maybe It is just more important to them. I notice the same as well.
women do discuss politics. but mostly on things that matter more to them. and especially among themselves.
that's why with more women working in male dominated work environments, the more politics they will be involved in.

mainstream politics, on the other hand, is a predominantly male sport. I don't see how it changes anybody's life if Tinubu did or did not forge certificate. lol
EducationRe: Pictures Of A Primary School In Nigeria by Jenifa1: 9:36pm On Nov 12, 2011
na today? there are worse than that in Lagos.

but to be honest, a lot of times, schools abroad aren't much better (esp public schools in US).
Not in terms of infrastructure but in terms of actual education.

Tosinville:
A closest friend of mine in Nigeria is in indonesia now, he told me yesternight that there was a german woman who came for tourism and they end up hooking up though she's a husband in Germany, after some weeks of nice koboko the lady pay his house rent for 6months, take him out for shopping etc before going back to germany, he says indonesia women also do that though they're not rich but they still care but a black woman will expect to pay her or 4 her needs for each fluid u drop on her.

A german woman date my friend for some months & later told him few days before her departure that she only came to indonesia for tourism and though she has a husband in germany, tell me how's he a gigolo there or sex slave?
your friend is a male prostitute. plain and simple.
If a married woman is taking you shopping and paying your rent in exchange for sex, you are not a man. You are a boy. a boy toy. a prostitute.
stop cheapening yourself. grow up and be a man!

sex tourism is very common by the way. If you have never heard of it.

1. I am in shape. Round is a shape.

1. After making your order at McDonald's (or Mr. Biggs), and the waitress asks "is that all?", please say YES. Don't go on ordering more than you can eat at the moment or for your sisters, brothers and friends at home. Be considerate.

SAFO:
So does the woman feel like she is owned? It sounds almost like modern day slavery. I assume this bride price goes to the parents of the bride correct?
You know I've never thought of it as a "sale" until I heard this argument.
I always thought that the husband paid the bride's family to show that he is capable of providing for his family. basically to prove himself. The more he pays for bride price, the more convinced the bride's family is that this man is capable of taking care of their daughter.

this is the same way I see engagement rings. the guy buys an expensive one to prove himself as financially capable. grin

at least that's the way I see it.

Its only natural and it happens everywhere in the world. Most women dont like Politics.

You want to test it Give your mom, sister, gf or wife a TV remote control and you would never see her watching CNN or any other Political news channel guess where she would be on?

MTV, Fashion TV or some reality shows.

While most guys would watch News, Movies and maybe Sports
something I notice is if more women are hosting serious type shows, women will watch it.
ex funmi iyanda, oprah etc.

yeah men are more into sports while women are more into fashion lol
BusinessRe: Google Trader Nigeria To Compete With Dealfish, Tradestable, Nairalist by Jenifa1: 4:34pm On Nov 10, 2011
I believe Seun had a deal with google to retire Nairalist, and also to help promote Google Trader. I'm positive this is what happened, cos I cannot understand why he would be the first to come on here and announce to us that the new site is finally up. Again, he might very well be the administrator of Google Trader for all we know.
I agree.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Ladies Shy Away From Politics & Political Discussions? by Jenifa1: 4:31pm On Nov 10, 2011
ekt-bear,

you make a good point that it might be partially due to "fundamental gender differences"
but I still think that women could be more involved if gender expectations weren't so rigid. Countries where these expectations are less rigid have more female participation.
PoliticsRe: Why Do Ladies Shy Away From Politics & Political Discussions? by Jenifa1: 4:39am On Nov 10, 2011
"I promised women a 35 per cent slot in my cabinet and I fulfilled that vow, because it is my desire to ensure a level playing field in Nigeria by heading an administration where ethnicity, gender and religion do not hinder qualified persons from fulfilling their potential. It is also the reason I ordered the admission of women to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) a first in Nigeria. Women should brace up to be all they want to be in life as this administration will be an enabler of your progress"

-Goodluck Jonathan

. . .Yet, the women in Jonathan's cabinet are more of the same: political appointees brought on to fill the quota.

-------------------

In Nigeria, the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2007 passed a law against indecent dressing. The press and the public condemned the massive arrest of girls and women by the police on the streets of Lagos over what was termed as indecent dressing which resulted in victims illegally detained, allegedly violated and their money extorted. The law was eventually scraped.

http://thelawyerschronicle.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55:indecent-dressing&catid=35:focus-on-the-law&Itemid=53

----

just so it doesn't sound like i'm making things up from thin air.
there really is an existing quota for females in politics. and this quota is set up by UNDP a UN arm.
and Nigerian  (lagos ,a state not under sharia) legislature did have a law that banned women from wearing certain clothing.
90 women were arrested for "indecent dressing" in one case. infact there is a topic on Nairaland about it.
so, isale-gan, my post and argument may have sounded bizarre to you but it really is based on concrete stuff on gender politics in nigeria.

ok i'm out.
PoliticsRe: We Need Newspapers Like 234next In Nigeria. Too Much Is At Stake. by Jenifa1: 4:31am On Nov 10, 2011
We started with the basic premise that we would provide news and informed opinion fairly and accurately to the public, based on the best judgment of the editors and none other, uninfluenced by money, political or other affiliation.
all newspapers always start out on that premise. It just never lasts long before they succumb.
