fergie001: Perhaps,u live abroad or attended a corona or the likes where a school bus comes 2 pick U.This punishment is absurd but watering flowers and d likes.then expect your assembly to be empty cos we will water d flowers endlessly. These punishments are necessary and non-negotiable though I must agree not some wicked ones, but flogging,pick-pin,etc....reset d brain.Who knows d refusal of all these sef has made sanity depart d system when these boys and girls get 2 secondary schools and d likes. I understand your argument but I disagree. Corporal punishment is not more effective than watering flowers because watering flower denies the child something he values - his playtime with his classmates. That is the PUNISHMENT in it. And these are just examples. There are other creative ways. The truth, which you people refuse to consider, is that corporal punishment has not worked because our schools are for the most part turning out cultists, runs girls, election riggers, ritualists and treasury looters. Alamieyeseigha, Odili, Obasanjo and the rest of them all went through these schools where corporal punishment held sway. Obama, Cameron and others went to schools where punishment amounted to watering flowers. Go figure. |

TonyeBarcanista: No wonder kids of 19th and 20th century are more disciplined than some of our 21st century kids. Why do you say so? Do you have any proof? Anecdotal or statistical, anything resembling proof will do. |
Education › Re: How Students Are Punished In Cameroon For Coming Late To School by JuanDeDios: 11:17am On Nov 05, 2016 |
TonyeBarcanista: Discipline does not mean anti-dignity. No wonder kids of these days misbehaves.
In those days, kids won't be sitting while elder is standing. Mbanu! The kid will stand up for the elder, while the elder will lap him/her.
If you don't want your child to kneel down, then make sure s/he is always punctual. No two ways about it!
Otherwise, Na yourself you de do Nobody is saying there shouldn't be discipline but there are better ways. It is okay to stipulate a penalty for coming late but it doesn't have to be this or flogging. What happens to cleaning a classroom or watering flowers when his mates are enjoying their break period? Or something of that sort? To use your choice of words, it should not be "anti-dignity" like this here clearly is. When Nigerians go on and on about the usefulness of corporal punishment and "African upbringing", I always ask them if we are turning out better adults than societies that have abolished corporal punishment. We are clearly not. It's not about kids standing up for adults to sit or kneeling down to greet - you are adopting a very parochial approach to the matter. It's about things that social imperatives, humanistic ideals and lasting values that contribute to nation building and human development. In any case, children still stand up for their elders in the rural areas, and if you choose to live in urban areas you have to accept some of the things that come with that. |

TonyeBarcanista: What is barbaric here? It is discipline my Dear OP. Some of us experienced it while in primary school. For some of us it was kneel down + flogging.
Yes, it made lots of kids understand the importance of punctuality. You need to upgrade your thought process. Yes, this was normal when we were kids, but times have changed. Societies now place a lot of importance on the dignity of the human person and the humane treatment of kids. To address your "discipline" mantra, there is no proof that children who are made to pass through corporal and inhuman punishment turn out better. Compare Nigerians of my generation with people who grew up in societies where there was no corporal punishment and tell me we are better people. Nobody does this to my child. |

It is a situation whereby you KNOW you are dreaming and then exert come CONTROL over the flow of the dream. For example, when it starts, you can decide, "I want fly from Oshodi to Cape Town at 800kmh" and you will see your enjoying the flight. You can decide to eat any food you want or go on a date with Beyonce. There's an excellent book on it I came across years back but I can't recall it now. But there are books on it in this link and you can also read up on the subject in that website and learn more through Google. And you don't have to believe any spiritual stuff. Lucid dreaming has a scientific basis, even though there may well be a spiritual side to it. http://www.world-of-lucid-dreaming.com/bestselling-books-on-lucid-dreaming.html |

PAGAN9JA: Ah in that case the Oba must pay those rxpenses That's the only point I'm making. I have respect for the oba and for any of our traditions that does not harm anyone. If the oba even said you can inter the corpse but no loud music and partying while his own coronation and partying are going, I would just shrug and bother about something else. But it appears they're saying you should do what you like with your dead but don't bury it. This is strange and I'm surprised it's coming from a king who has had so much exposure. |

He brought his family ,mother and father to come and beg the oba but the deed has been done. he was later removed as the administrator of the state .Onyearugbulem died suddenly in a hotel room in Kaduna..let me stop there.. Navy Commander Anthony Onyearugbulem suspended Omo N'Oba and heaven did not fall. Please show me the lie in that. What you have written is a cocktails of tall tales, conjectures and unverified stories. What you're really saying is that the Oba or the Benin people used juju on the Commander. Well, that is a matter of belief and I can't deny you your right to yours. But I am not aware, and I don't believe, that the Commander saw any coffins in his office. People miscarry every day, including today. Administrators got redeployed often back then - note he was not fired from the Navy, just redeployed. Or can you show that he served a significantly shorter term than the other milads we had? And his death had nothing to do with the oba; some of the milads we had are also dead and they didn't encounter any oba. But I think you're really saying behind all this "grammar" is that it is okay for the oba to stop you people from burying your dead. Alright. Carry go. It's your funeral, not mine. |

Their vehicles generally have unflattering titles and backstories. With many being pulled out from Hurricane Sandy and such. So what's the alternative to the auctions if you want to buy from the USA? |

OlajumokeBread: Those guys are pushing salvaged cars down to Africa
Those cars are fuccking cheap, i was wondering why their cars are so cheap till i found out why
Those cars they ship to Africa are useless because it's has a salvaged rebuilt title and cars with salvaged title are damaged cars which was severely damaged and the insurance company pays off the owner, once the insurance company pays the owner, they dump those cars at the boneyard, the auction sites will go there and start selling those cars and shipping them out of the USA to Africa
No one in the USA will buy those cars, or even pay more than $300 to buy it
A salvaged title 2010 Range Rover will not be above $1000
I wanted to buy cars from them but they refused to sell to me because i live in the USA because they know the games they play Can you explain a bit more? The cars imported seem to be doing fine in Nigeria. |
