rayralph: Justwise, I speak for Glasgow alone. Students with families are getting council houses. Heck, a single lady got 2 bed bedroom within 2 months( a miracle) after applying. I got one too. I know about 5 other families(applied) staying in council houses( housing association apartments), newly built sef. Now this is interesting... So tell me this..what was the reason for giving you and some other people you mentioned council house on student visa? Homelessness, domestic violence? |

rayralph: You’re just capping with confidence. Stop misleading people. Council house/social housing is NOT public funds. It’s not free. It’s low cost housing offered to low income earners. We’ve discussed this issue months ago.
The bolded is NOT misleading. I suggested housing association cos it’s easier to get an apartment from them compared to the local council. Seem you’re not familiar with this topic and you just wanna jump on it. Council houses are subsidize by tax payers so its a public fund. Someone on student visa is not eligible. |

BorisJohnson: Hello my country people, especially those living in Scotland. I have a quick question.
Can a tier 4 visa (student) get allocated a council/social housing (Housing association) house please? And does anyone know ANY tier-4 visa holder who has been able to successfully apply for a Council house (especially in Scotland)?
Thank you for your help. Key pointsLocal authority officers working in frontline services need to be able to understand how a person’s immigration status affects their entitlement to benefits and other services, in order to ensure that people receive all of the services they are entitled to, establish correct referral routes, and take any necessary steps to alleviate destitution.
People who have ‘no recourse to public funds’ (NRPF) will not be able to access most social security benefits, homelessness assistance and a local authority allocation of social housing, but in some cases may be able to receive accommodation and financial support from social services. Even when a person’s immigration status does not prevent them from accessing social security benefits, they may experience problems obtaining these, for example, because they do not meet other eligibility criteria linked to their residency in the UK, they cannot evidence the length of their residence in the UK, or because their entitlements are misunderstood.
In most cases, establishing a pathway out of destitution will involve accessing specialist immigration advice. It is a criminal offence to provide immigration advice that is specific to a person’s matter unless the adviser is a member of the appropriate regulatory bodies for solicitors and barristers, or is an immigration adviser regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC). Local authorities must therefore ensure that staff do not provide immigration advice to individuals unless they are accredited to do so with the OISC, and should consider establishing lists of local regulated immigration advice services to signpost people to.

jamesy212: Hello guys, I don't mean to discourage anyone here but came across this comment on a Reddit thread and thought I should get thoughts of those currently studying in UK
If she really wishes to study then don't come to the UK. The University's that are not in the Russel group are just to give an economic boost to the country and nothing else. Education sector is a very huge source of income to the country, both the fees and visa fees justifies this. Most of the University programs are not accredited and the teaching is horrible. During your studies you would find getting a job in UK is a bit difficult, unless you are interested in working in care homes. After your studies, the chances of getting a job are minimal unless you have previous experience in the field. (If you do have previous experience in the field, you might really be able to say whether the course is terrible or not). Then there is PSW, post study work permit, the chances for your PSW application getting rejected is extremely high considering the current state, this had happened a few years before and many students were forced to leave the country as there were a lot many candidates than the country could accommodate. You cannot stay in the country without a PSW unless you have been sponsored to work by some company, which would be highly unlikely. I am not sure about this but I have also heard that your time in UK under PSW will not be considered for Residency.
Then there are other issues with the living conditions, say you have rented out an apartment. Utility providers like gas, electricity and water is definitely going to eat you up with their direct debit and stuff like that. People don't come to collect your readings, they setup an estimated reading, which could usually be way off the charts, your attempt to submit actual readings might possibly go in vain. Health care sector is overloaded, if under chances you wanted to visit your GP, you can't, standard waiting time for emergency services is over five hours. You can't get a discounted bus card if you are above a certain age.
The common people here are pretty nice to you, or at least the ones whom you might meet during your studies. However, people in higher posts, might treat you different, you might get a hint of this if you approach the University dean with a complaint. Then comes the visa conditions, it must be ensured that you follow the visa conditions strictly, else you will be deported without any considerations, particularly if your fees had been paid in full. You shouldn't exceed your weekly working hours, and even if you excel in your studies, not meeting visa conditions is the easiest way to get kicked out. If you are looking forward to work, enjoying your time without a gun to your head, possibly settle down in a new country and has never been lucky your entire life, I wouldn't suggest the UK The person that wrote this has never lived in the UK or failed to achieve anything here then blame everything else apart from him/herself. |

WetinUGain: Nigeria banks will not be penalised for a document presented by a third party, what can be done is confirmation and verification and there are 100 ways embassies can do the confirmation.
Nigeria banks are highly regulated, aside confirmation of statement of accounts, there are other things being done with embassies.
On what you presented, those are cooperative and esusu banks in India and mainly based in the rural and semi urban areas, confirmation of statement might be difficult and they might not even have the resource to do the verification. Abeg, they are not to be equated to our commercial banks.
If you have evidence of UKVI blacklisting regulated and quoted commercial banks or DMBs anywhere in d world, even in India and Pakistan, will be interested in it. I want to say this to you as politely as I can. Read and comprehend before posting or ask questions rather assumptions. |

Ameryx: Hi all, I think I need a bit of encouragement. I moved to the UK on a student visa in December. Before relocating, I was doing quite well back home. Earned around 2-3m monthly profit after expenses from my business. In fact, I wanted to reward myself with a Range Rover Evoque (about 13m) then but Nigeria was in a bad state and I used up my savings to fund my relocation. I landed with high hopes, about £4000 in cash. The reason for my earlier statements is not to brag, but to show you that I was doing well, and I just felt coming here would be saner. I loved it here whenever I travel for vacation, so I was without doubt that life here would be easier.
To my main aim of writing, I think I am depressed. I could not find a job in my first 3 months here. The only job available that most students were doing was care, and I wasnt vaccinated, so I could not start. I eventually started in March and the job gives me a mental breakdown each time. I am on my feet for 11 hours, and get sent around by staff who feel they are better than agency workers, I get hit by residents, I have been racially abused several times ,I did it for 2 months and I had to quit.
I have looked for warehouse jobs, not been lucky. Even customer care work, they reject because of my visa status. I am fast losing it, there is so much my brain can take as a woman. Does anyone know how else I can get a job, I stay in Bradford, so anything around Leeds is fine. I can even work in Manchester if the pay is okay. Please help. You are going through changes so it’s not going to be easy considering your position before coming here. You definitely can pull through this because you have what it takes. Just like you I started my life here in Bradford and it was hell on earth, spent 6yrs in that city and I walked through tramps to survive but guess what? It’s history now. I visited practically every job agencies in that city to register with them and I got my first job as a student through that method. Abused? Yes I received loads but I keep going because I needed that money for my school fees, rent and bills. Never give up, you are there already and will come out even stronger. The UK does things to people who digs in. |

That was how some unscrupulous and mischievous Nigerians posted in a telegram group that Globus bank has issue with UKVI due to POF, but i used Globus bank for my dependents and they got their visa last month This happened few years ago in India, no NIgerian bank has been blacklisted yet but the embassy has the right to do that https://www.thehindubusinessline.com/economy/UK-blacklists-2000-Indian-banks-from-student-visa-process/article20352927.eceAs of November 24 this year, around 1,940 banks — mostly cooperative ones — have been named as “financial institutions that do not satisfactorily verify financial statements,” according to the UK Border Agency. Babababy: The issue of bank statements is literally straight forward but in the Nigerian context, its almost rocket science. We do have a lot of people using built accounts, and bank officers have been cashing out on students going to the UK. It is what it is. The onus is to tell people the truth and consequences of using such accounts. Whatever we say wont make it stop, Nigeria is at a certain brink and people are desperate. I believe everyone here is an adult, and people should be able to take responsibility for their actions or inactions. A good fraction of people on this platform are using built account, to deny this is equal to living in Disneyland. The job here is to educate people on consequences, you might be caught and banned. If you dont get caught, you will struggle in the UK, It is extremely difficult without saved funds.
That been said, we have had a few cases of misjudgement from UKVI about statements, and a handful of people have been able to reverse it, a case study is on Part 6,October 12 by @Ezriela. I have attached screen shots.
UKVI doesn't get it right all the time . They are humans after all . Things we say or do here will make a difference, yes it will not stop it completely but it will reduce it. The worst is to do nothing or to give excuses for those committing this fraudulent act. Lets be honest here, majority of Nigerians like cutting corners, looking for a way to gain any system, so it got little or nothing to do with the current situation in Nigeria. The case you used to support your argument is not a perfect example because the initial mistake was from the bank. There is so much we can do here to reduce the number of people using untouchable, simply reporting such post will go a long way |

I studied Business Admin as my first degree and I applied for MSc. Computer science, am I doing anything wrong? I sent emails to some of the schools and their response was that they have so many applications they are dealing with and they have prioritized applications from agents.
I'm worried I might not meet up with the September resumption date. Please I need advise on how to move forward with this.
Thanks! You don't need an agent to get an admission, its the simplest thing to do, if you do then you might as well pay the same agent to do your course work for you. Later you will come back here to blame the agent for messing up your application |
