Computers › Re: Is Tablet Pc's Taking Laptops Out Of Fashion? by lastpage: 3:31am On Jun 21, 2012
With the advent of Tablet PC's and various computer hardware manufacturers joining the band wagon. Microsoft being the latest of them with it's "surface" tablet computers.
Seems buying or owning a laptop isn't any longer the in thing.
I personally no longer use my laptop. It packed up and i didn't even bother to fix it. I hope to replace it with a tablet PC.
So what do you think? Is it no longer fashionable to own or use a laptop for business and personal use. What are the pros and cons of using a Tablet PC?
If your Laptop can pack-up and you dont even bother, then you my bruvda, is just an "ordinary Browser"!
As in someone who uses the Laptop to do "very basic things", the same sort of things that a Tablet is well suited for!

Take it from me, despite adequate back-up, some "serious users" will have a heart attack, if their Laptop was to 'pack-up.

Am talking about Coders, Programmers, web-designers, e.t.c.........people who use a Laptop as a tool of work, not just for browsing nairaland! grin grin

Show me a "Tablet" that has quad-core i7 processor, 2TB hard drive, 8GB RAM, L6 Cache, e.t.c .......and l will agree with you that Tablets are taking over!
Thing is, not everyone needs a Laptop
....just like not everyone needs a smart-phone, if all you do is "call and receive" like my Granny in the village!

PStylish: @OP
I'm highly disappointed.
Do you really want to sit down and be spoonfed by your girlfriend or wife?
I see many women almost singlehandedly sustaining their husbands' (his personal needs) and families' needs nowadays.
Its natural for any real man to aspire 2 meet his family's (not d wife alone's) needs.
The bible says that a man that cannot provide for his household is worse than an infidel.
No matter how rich I become, no woman be it gf or wife can make an ATM machine of me.
Come on wise up!!!
If you are going to "accept and respect" Biblical quotes on something, then you MUST do same in ALL THINGS!
Now did the same BIBLE not say:
1.) A man is the "head" of his family?
2.) That a woman is A HELPER (NOT an EQUAL!) to her husband?

See, if we all respect and abide by "The Word", things would be very easy to manage! wink wink

We cant "pick and choose", only where and what suits our position.

BTW: There is nothing wrong in working your socks-off, for your wife......The only problem is if you have "an ingrate" for a wife......and from the days of the garden of Eden, that has been the way of women (God dont blame me, blame my husband! huh )....at least most women sha

shymmex: So, I just checked the time - and it's 6.30am.. It's time to do a little reflection, before I hit my bed, and sleep for 4hrs (this has been my daily routine for the past 6months). Which means; I basically work my butts off for 18hrs daily, just to be an alpha male..

And the answer I keep getting is women, women, and women.. We as men work hard everyday, but the funniest thing is that - we do it for the ladies.. We dress nice for them; look nice for them; work our butts off for them; plan ahead for them; and when we chase money, fame, and good life, we also do it for them. Yet, most of these women don't even appreciate what we go through because of them smh..

It's a sad world - and I'm pissed!

**Heads to bed in anger**

Good night and good morning! angry

PS: My eyes are blurry, don't mind my incoherent rants. grin
I always say it that "women are smarter than men...........on the average"!
They know how to pretend a lot!

*You are working for them (they know it), yet they keep complaining that they are "doing all the work" for you!

*When it suits women, you are "the man" (you are supposed to be stronger) but at other times, YOU ARE BOTH EQUAL! huh

*When you are working your socks off and making money, they call you names like "darling and sweetheart" but when situation changes and the money does not flow as usual, you become names like "lame ass, lazy bum, wretched man, useless man e.t.c".

*And if things get worse for you, they start looking for the next man with a "deeper pocket"!........of course it starts with a litany of "complaints" as we often on Nairaland!
*Those in the Western World are even worse........small problem with their husband like these, the next thing is how to eject him from the house and make him fund their lavish life style!
That is how deep the "I love you sweetheart" goes!
Well, until men start getting and acting smart enough not to put their happiness in any woman ........ just until then, they would continue to work very hard and die young wink wink
Imagine some "men" even claiming they were created to work and be slaves" to women! shocked huh

Car Talk › Re: Can One Ever Jumpstart An Automatic Car Just Like A Manual Car? by lastpage:
Fhemmmy: Auto rides do not do a "Push me to Start" thing.
You will need teh jump cable to connect a good battery to your dead battery and one time will respond, however, it means you cant turn off the engine if the battery is really bad, else, you will have to jump start it again. . .

and make sure you know the radio code cos you will have to use it to code the radio once you change your battery.

Good luck
The black bolded above IS NOT TRUE Sir!

Even as of yesterday, l still jump-started my Automatic Avensis
(my kids left the back inner lights on for over twelve hours and it wont start by itself) and l have done this a few times.
At no time did l have to "recode" the Radio.
The worst that happened was that my "stored local radio stations" needed to be stored again.
And that does not require any codes.

Maybe you're referring to old models of Automatics (like pre 2002) sha or did l get you wrong?

Lastpage!

BTW: I would recommend to anyone that drives an automatic Transmission car to have in his/her car ALWAYS:
1.) Jump Cables

also,
Electronic battery charger that you can plug to an A/C outlet.

If my battery runs flat at home and l dont have access to another car's battery to jump-start it, l recharge it myself using number 2.
With number one, all you need is a good samaritan to spare you one minute (at anywhere) and you are good to go,

Odunnu: Wow! Wow! Wow! Thanx code. Its eyeopening. So instead of 'forbiding the discussion on Islam' like he said, he decided to give them a 'joint'. Now I represent Christians here and asking nicely, i'm not threatning nobody but I do hope its attended to.
You See!

This is the problem with this country......where everything is defined by "Religion" but NOTHING GOOD is done by the Practitioners of same Religion!
Why should Seun's life be threatened by any Muslim?
Why are MUSLIMS so prone to violence and so eager to use it?
Why must he be blackmailed into creating a Muslim Section?
How are we supposed to live together, if we keep threatening each other?
.....And why cant Seun "stand his ground", if his conscience bears witness to him, that he is right in not allowing Religious/Islamic Fanaticism?

There lies the problem of this country; Even corruption started from Religion: when Prophets refuse to say/preach the truth and stand by it.

Instead of everyone using their strength and energy to improve "real things" and help their fellow mwn, they are squabbling of "I am a Muslim/Christian and my religion is better"!

Christianity Etc › Re: Christianity For Christians. by lastpage: 6:20am On Jun 11, 2012
Hmmmmmm....Nigerians and their penchant for "Religion" ....without any modicum of spirituality!

Why must you have a separate section?
Did Jesus have a separate country?
Did he seclude himself?
Did he segregate when dispensing salvation?
Did he not ask that "ALL" come unto him?
Did he castigate others?

Did Christ not ask us to be an example, in tolerance and accommodation of others?
Did Christ not ask us to "Let our light shine so well, that others might wonder and give glory to our father in heaven"?

How can you be all the above when you cant even tolerate the presence or dissenting comments (words only) of others?
I think the problem of the Poster is pure and simple "FANATICISM"!

It is the same Fanaticism exhibited by Muslims who created their own section, just for only Muslims, to be moderated by a Muslim!

It is this same Fanaticism exhibited by Muslims who slaughtered a man (like a chicken!) because he converted from Islam to Christianity!
See the link here: http://www.raymondibrahim.com/11798/graphic-video-tunisian-muslims-slaughter-convert

We need to grow-up and stop "acting or fighting on God's behalf".
God is too big for "any religion" to fight on his behalf!

People should keep their religion (or the fanaticism!) to themselves.

Christianity Etc › Muslim Slaughter Man Who Converted ( Gruesome, Watch With Caution) by lastpage(op):
As a liberal mined person, l've always defended all religions but with each occurrence of dastardly acts like this, year-in, year-out, and the seemingly tacit support (expressed in form of keeping mute instead of speaking strongly against such acts), my belief that "Islam is a religion of peace" get punctured!"

For one, Islam was "planted" aggressively, using the sword and blood of those who dont fancy the religion.
While we might excuse the behavior of the founders of Islam as "ignorance and of period gone-by", that they still practice the same barbarism till today, gives the impression that it is nothing but a devilish and blood-thirsty religion.

Just watch the video and you can judge which kind of Gawd, on whose behalf, this kind of evil is being done.
http://www.raymondibrahim.com/11798/graphic-video-tunisian-muslims-slaughter-convert
(again, be warned: This video is very graphic!)

While all religion may have one or two deviants, the fact that the Quoran openly advocates that those who "see the light" and convert away from Islam should be murdered, speaks volume.
Is it by force that someone must share your belief?
Why are Muslims so violent?
Does the founder, Prophet Muhammad know that his religion would be found out as a farce and thus rejected eventually?
Why deprive people that freedom of choice, borne out of research and conviction? Why order they must be slaughtered, simply because they decide to exercise their God-given right to choose how they worship the same God?

Seems the non-violent Muslims are an exception from the rule and you can count such on the fingers of one hand!

The non-violent few among the Muslims need to re-think their belief, come on board and lets do away with these blood-thirsty religion.
The United Nations must classify such slaughter of those who convert away from Islam to other religions, as a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY and any perpetrator dealt with accordingly.

BTW: The aim of the Post is to encourage every one, Muslim or not, to stand up against this kind of inhumanity and barbarism, in the name of religion!

When people like me were on the streets risking our lives to fight for MKO, your type were hiding under their beds, paralysed with fear.
We faced live bullets, armoured cars and extremely powerful teargas dropped from helicopters that exploded with the sound of a bomb.
When we were patrolling and organising along the railway line (Oshodi to Iddo), along Western Avenue, Ikorodu Road etc; where were reptiles like you?

Today, you have the guts to tell me about Yoruba and the SW; and then turn around to spit on MKO. I find your type thoroughly despicable.
Abeegi, go siddon joor!
BEEF of all people? huh
Every Tom, Dike and Harry sef dey claim "Democracy struggle" over the internet! sad sad

Okay, show us PROOF of all you posted above.

Which University did you attend and graduate from, if any at all?

BTW: From the way you are gloating over the name change, it is very evident that you're one of those mental failures who could not attain UNILAG cut-off points in other to Qualify to be a student and eventual product of that esteemed Institution and your likes are very glad for the " Downgrade" that the change of name brings to the legacy of that institution. You are so bitter with your peers who called themselves "Akokites" and you will crawl even in the gutter to make sure that this dumb move comes to stay!
Unfortunately, even Unilag undergraduates are in the process of schooling your paymaster in the art of "use of Power".
He swallowed his vomit by going abegging at the NASS! grin

If GEJ was a product of that school, l am sure 100% he will not change the name............he does not know the value of-course!

Dont effing phuck with Akokites, we are the best of our equals! kiss kiss

Well, henceforth, it is worthy to "pay attention" to VIP movement and avoid boarding a plane around their "tight" schedule!

At least it will save somebody the STRESS of staying airborne for such long periods, doing nothing!
Especially in our "Molue-Aircrafts"!

Can they please publish their schedule so we can "respect" their movement?
Hmmm......na wa O!
