Travel › Lagos-Ibadan Rail Passengers To Pay ₦6000 For First Class Tickets by lozanni(op): 10:28am On Dec 05, 2020 |
Passengers to pay N6,000 for first class tickets on Lagos-Ibadan rail, says FG The Federal Government has approved passengers’ charges on the new Lagos-Ibadan rail standard gauge which would commence operation in January, 2021.
Passengers on first class seats will pay N6, 000, the government added.
It noted that other passengers will be charged N3,000 for economy seat and N5,000 for business class as it is done on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, made the disclosure during the inauguration of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) in Abuja yesterday.
The theme for the 2nd Annual Summit was “Building Sustainable Transport Infrastructure in Nigeria: Opportunities, Innovations and Technologies.”
Amaechi said: “I have received the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the Lagos/Ibadan rail project by January 2021 which will make Nigerians see the way the standard gauge railway looks like.
“Today, I approved the charges on passengers from Lagos to Ibadan. We just transfer how we charged from Abuja to Kaduna.
“We charge N3,000 per economy seat, N5,000 for business class and N6,000 for first class. The same is applicable to Lagos to Ibadan.
“It should have started running by now before Mr President inaugurates it by January, 2021”
The minister said there had been tremendous changes in most of the air terminals, saying that the Minister of Aviation would inform the public of the completion of the Lagos/Kano terminal.
Amaechi promised that the ministry would collaborate with CIOTA to enable them achieve their objectives.
The minister said CIOTA’s role was critical to the growth of transportation in Nigeria, adding that the country had advanced a lot in the area of transportation. https://thenationonlineng.net/passengers-to-pay-n6000-for-first-class-tickets-on-lagos-ibadan-rail-says-fg/amp/

Their generation is cursed. Governance is a vast continum in the lives of people. When Peter Obi became Governor, the state's infrastructure were badly dilapidated, so he had to focus so much on this side of governance because you can not attract investments to any state with poor or non existent infrastructures. Peter Obi also cut down on the cost of governance and transfered the savings to education and industrialization of the state. I remember in an interview PO granted once, he said he left behind a lot of savings for the state with the hope that his successor will continue from where he stopped by providing other infrastructure like power, economic diversification and attraction of both local and foreign investors to the state. The only place I will fault him is that he did not groom a worthy successor who shared similar economic and political ideals with himself, so that the successor would have continued from where he stopped. |

doggedfighter: So true but messed it up by handing over to Willie. Now the state is at a standstill. Peter Obi did a good job in Anambra state, but I felt he should have mentored people who served with him during his eight years as Governor and whom he knew were in agreement with his Political philosophy. If he had done this, it would have been easy for him to pick a worthy successor to himself, who would have continued his laudable programs, rather than bringing in an outsider he did not really know too well, politically. The above method, I believe was adopted by Tinubu, in Lagos State, when he brought in a worthy successor in the person of Fashola who continued from where Tinubu stopped in the governance of the state. |

Well in my own opinion, my candid advice is for anyone intending to win is to win in silence n let success makes the noise. Even after the noise have been made it is important to ensure you stay away from Toxic friends cuz you fit go cash ur money n they'd still kill you for not giving them enough out of it
That being said, I noticed Barbaric act as these are perpetrated by mostly SS/SE guys, that's why ion keep those guys as friends esp SE folks You made a very good suggestion in your first paragraph, then spoilt it by going Xenophobic in the next paragraph. Xisnin: Chairman Mao was an absolute failure. He killed nearly 30 million people just to return the Chinese to the farms. China's success began by diverging from Mao's failed policies. His successor was replaced because he is seen as another crazy airbag. The father of the Chinese economic miracle is Deng Xiaoping and not the murderous Mao.
Nigeria needs sacrifice but not to try out failed economic policies. Even today, China cannot feed itself and that is not a bad thing. This is quite true, I watched a chinese documentary where the government admitted that Mao's policies were not working and that the country's economic turnaround started under Deng Xiaoping who opined that if communist economic policies were not working for the country that the economic policies that works should be pursued, regardless of the country's political inclination. The above meant that freedom was given to individual entrepreneurs to produce ,market and make profit from their businesses, which created billionaires and millionaires in the country in the period between the late 1970s' to the present time. It also exposed chinese businesses to the world as being purely driven by rationality and practicality and caused the world to patronise them in great number which led to their being very wealthy. NB: A personal example - I needed to supply an item to a school in Nigeria within three months, a relative helped me make enquires from a British supplier who stated it was only possible to get such supplies in about 12 months time. I , however got a chinese supplier who was able to supply them within two months ! |

This is the second case of Peregrine Falcon that flew from a nordic country to Nigeria, that am reading about.
The first one got trapped somewhere in Adamawa state, but was rescued by a zoologist who through the ring on its leg was able to trace the European owner.
Its possible that the birds come to Nigeria to nest during the harsh European winter and return back there in the Spring season.
Nigerian Ornithologists (Bird Experts) should help out here with studies on the migration patterns of such birds. |
Politics › Re: #EndSARS: CNN Clarifies Its Tweet About ''38'' Nigerians Killed by lozanni(m): 3:08pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
Vaughanlanrewaj: I stated here before that heads will roll at CNN.
That was a horrible report. Nigeria will sue them if they don't apologise and do more than this infantile recant.
Perhaps they still think it is joke.
How on earth can you state that 36 people were shot dead by soldiers without being at the scene and in the face of very credible question still hanging in the air "if soldiers killed even 1 person with their bullets, let alone 36 or 78 according to alleged lie by Switch, did soldiers kill all their friends, families, colleagues, neighbours, pastors/imams,boyfriends,girlfriends etc too?
All the revenue CNN generated on those days from the online traffic and on TV viewership while beaming that fake news must be demanded as damages and used to take care of victims of police brutality, victims of the carnage and those their fake news further destroyed. The request for the damages must co-copy HE Donald Trump, the Republic Party and CBS.
Amnesty international must receive their own letter too while Lagos State Government must investigate the audio of IPOB leader instructing and commanding his IPOB members to burn down Lagos and establish the nexus between the audio and the coordinated arson in Lagos. If found culpable, he should be reported to ICC and Interpol and other international bodies and prosecuted in absentia if he does not turn himself in.
If HE Sanwo Olu does not investigate this IPOB leader audio telling people to burn down Lagos, Lagosians, indigenes and Association of Lagos indigenes like the Lagos State Council of Obas and others should sue the government for not doing its job and compel the government to investigate the whole audio and movement of youths from the South East to join the protest in Lagos when same protest was going on in the South East!
This injustice against Lagos and Lagosians will not be permitted.
It is completely despicable that someone will tell people to go burn down Lagos and still not be charged by now. It is enabling him to commit more crime or someone else to wake up someday and instruct people to go burn down Abuja or Onitsha or Kaduna or PH or Benin and those places get burnt and we carry on as if we can't enforce our own laws. #Justice for Lagos and victims of the carnage in Lagos
I think they were reckless and their shoddy coverage will eventually make heads roll in CNN. Heads will roll just like the last time they paid some people to act like MEND until they got busted.
They were absolutely reckless especially after HE Trump called them fake news media for 4 years.
This damning verdict by this independent body of journalists is just the beginning. They were not even at the scene yet ignored the report of those credible media houses present at the scene.
Yet they are grandstanding.
CNN used some of the fake creatives that IPOB leader and his followers used to distract while they allegedly carry out the instruction of their leader to cowardly burn down Lagos. You are equally guilty of spreading lies, just as you are accusing CNN of doing. I dont think there was an audio from IPOB, telling their members to infiltrate the protest in Lagos. In a period of uncertainty like this, 5th columnists will usually try to infiltrate the rank and file of people protesting for enforcement of their fundamental human rights by trying to create division among them; in this case playing the tribal cards of East against the West which people will easily fall for given the primordial suspicion that exists between them. As a matter of fact, the Army spokesperson at the Lagos State judicial panel of enquiry reported that it was the Igbo businesses that suffered the most loss during the recent Lagos riots. The above shows that everyone suffered losses when hoodlums who were out to steal and destroy property unfortunately hijacked the formerly peaceful protest. I advise that we all should be very discerning about unsubstantiated news reports we receive and also remain focused on our desired objectives of proper police reform and good governance. |

Brilliant words but the message is lost on the youths. You can imagine if we all rally support for a presidential candidate the way they campaign for bbnaija laycon. Such movement will be unstoppable but nay, we prefer queing behind Atiku, Buhari and co and afterwards regurgitate the book of lamentation on the state of the Nation.
In my opinion we deserve our leaders, what am I even saying, Are they imported! Are they not part of the masses.
Las las we go dey alright Celebrities have a huge role to play in awakening the political consciousness of the great number of youths we have. The youths look up to them in so many ways as their role models and will easily follow their footsteps in anything the celebrities do or advise the youths to do. I have been following the Facebook stories of American superstars like Hally Berry, Usher etc and the way they have been asking their followers if they have registered to vote in the November 2020 Presidential election, you will think they (the celebrities) were being paid to do so ! However, am sure they are not being paid, but are just very political conscious and then encourage their fans to be so too. |
