Ododua Festival not Ekaladerhan Festival or Izoduwa or Imadoduwa festival
This tells you that the binis only recently invented the Ekaladerhan - Odùduwà connection and it has no place in Bini traditions |

On topic, I disagree with you though. Igbo been mentioned here are those in Southern Ondo state. These are the people that have relationship with with Obatala. I believe you know the history more than I do, and should see it from the Obatala angle. im doing good bro. You've been away from the culture section and how are you? You are completely right... In Yoruba history it's the Ùgbó people of Ondo State that is connected to Obawinrin, Obamakin and Obatala.. Not Igbo of South East But the Ọọ̀ni is on to a new agenda in a bid to foster peace and unity he is adding Igbos of SE to this Yoruba narrative Of course its historical bullshitt but many of the Ọọ̀ni's advisers are serious about this |

FOLYKAZE: Dont mind that fool. I have activated ignore button on his mention.
That some people don't brag or make noise about relationship with Jew doesn't the belief is not outthere.
Ugbo people founded the first Yorubanized Christianity. C/S mount Zion has it headquarter in Igbonla (a town in Ugbo kingdom). And they practise Judaism, primarily mosaic Christianity. The church was founded by Oba Zion Lene who is a son of Ugbo land. They believe they are Jew. I know this because I was a member...snr cherubim. One funny thing is that they are Yoruba first because attaching with Jew.
Definitely Ooni is referring to Ugbo people and dont these Beast of no Nations. actually the Ọọ̀ni is really referring to Igbos of South East. Same way he says Idena (a guard:a Person) is Eden.. Like wtf! That's what he is being made to believe by some advisers, some of whom I know, with the Ọba adeyeye himself never being well educated before becoming Ọọ̀ni |

RealKingDavid: According to the bible, Israel is made up of twelve tribes but the tribes of Judah and Levi and Benjamin all stand under the kingdom of Judah, while the other nine tribes form to make the kingdom of Israel So the kingdoms of Judah and Israel were separated until the kingdom of Israel (the nine tribes) were carried away captives to all corners of the earth.. There's no country today that you won't find at least one family of Israel and Judah Few years after Isreal was carried away captive, Judah was also carried captive by King of Babylon. After 70 years the kingdom of Judah was released to go back to their land and build up the waste places... They rebuilt the temple even in troubled times , the temple was built and Jesus was born , after Jesus was killed the temple was burnt with fire again and will not be built again till Jesus comes back. Note that the kingdom of Isreal are still in captivity even till this day. The kingdom of Judah are the remnant of Isreal that stills lives in their land even till this day. The Yoruba people don't even know about this truth but your leaders know, some of your prophets know but won't say the truth. But very soon the truth will be exposed when the two witnesses start their ministry in the city of Jerusalem FYI : Jerusalem is Lagos state And as for Igbo tribe and Hausa Tribes the book of Ezekiel has already explained that .
“And I will turn again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them;” Ezekiel 16:53 ASV sorry but this is the truth and you'll know very soon this one is another mad man |

People like this one are the problem and reason you think the narrative changed. These type of people have been very loud and due to either a clinic condition or sinister agenda have been making mecca claims for so long, but such claims are private and have nothing to do with what we received from our ancestors. Both bini and mecca claims don't add up nor are they traditional The traditional narrative has always connected Odùduwà to Oke-ora |

Weedfree: DUDE where did u learn how to read I wrote a flute that was used during the coronation of Awujale is still being used in Ethiopia. There is one account about the olu iwa given is daughter to oduduwa but that would mean ife is older when it is not check. And I do read history of ijebu and oral account in fact I am friends with one of the ruling family's in ijebu land who also told me of is own history which doesn't correspond to what u are saying. So from ur account ife owodaiye is actually owodaiye on them where was it located cause I can tell u where the Ijebu own is located. Osinumise migrated to ijebu ode with Ajebu and Olode. But if u check the list of past and present Awujales in ijebu land it goes as follows OLU IWA OSHI OBANTA MONIGBUWA And goes on, the list mentioned olu iwa as an ijebu king not a title. Get ur facts straight and don t be ignorant. Wtf is this one still saying? Oga move along If you want to learn history go through the pains of studying, buy books and travel, involve in the traditions of the people not just sit behind a computer screen and Google ijebu and argue based on the first few articles(without sources nor authors) That's idiotic and you keep regurgitating the same nonsense about Ethiopia I should get my facts straight? Olu iwa is the ruler the Negede orit's (the first wave of Ethiopians that first arrive in africa) and olu iwa is older than oduduwa because the fifth Awujale not the first helped restore oduduwa sight which was stated by the Awujale. Dartilo: Lets b realistic here yoruba founded benin,y don't u keep mute if u don't know what to say... Before the second dynasty in benin there were Ogiso kings meaning gods of the sky and about 36rule Benin before oranmiyan came lets imagine each of the ogiso rule ten yrs each that equal 360 of ogiso rule,so therefore benin has been in existence bfor Oduduwa existed...
Oduduwa was a benin prince and heir to the throne in benin, but he was forcefully banish from benin and for the fear of it's life he ran along with it's followers to a place e called ile ife(i ran and i escape in benin language) on getting there he claim its identity as a son of a king a descendant of ogiso(god's of the sky)and they tot he fell from the sky and he chose a new name as Izoduwa(meaning i hve chose my path of prosperity in benin)now corrupted as oduduwa....
To set d record straight ryt from time immemorial ile ife has always been a small town, did ile ife conquer benin to mke oranmiyan king in benin...
After the death of the last ogiso know as ogiso owodo in benin, there was a civil war in benin different people wanted power so the five kings maker decided to look for the banish prince oduduwa of benin..Now oduduwa was now old so he sent it's son oranmiyan, oranmiyan met the war and oranmiyan never enter benin bcoz he was scared of being assasinated out of anger her left and called the city ubini meaning land of anger and he went to oyo....
Now in Oyo oranmiyan was said to be a great warror that he single handedly conquer the people he met there and made himself Alafin... Now my question :why did he not singlehandedly conquer benin,or was it because he knew this were his people or he is a coward dat just ran away...
Why will benin run to ife to giv dem king since ife didn't colonize dem and since odudwa was d first oni and benin had36 ogiso already.... All this are simple logic Oduduwa is from Oke-ora not Igodomigodo(now called Bini) |

A 35-year old man, Mr, Paul Nosakhare, has told an Oredo Magistrate Court of how he caught his newly married wife, Stella Maris Alegbe, with his Pastor, Joseph Igwemoh, Head of the Global Influence Ministry.
Pastor Igwemoh was last year arraigned on two count charges bothering on abduction and act likely to cause breach of peace was accused of sleeping with Stella inside his church.
At the resumed hearing of the case, Paul, during cross examination told the court he served as an Assistant Pastor to the suspect before the sexual scandal broke out.
Paul said he met Stella through Pastor Igwemoh and they courted for four years before they got married on March 24, 2018.
He said marriage lasted only three months as his wife moved out in July after the Pastor rented an apartment for her.
He stated that Pastor Igwemoh warned them not to have sexual intercourse until proper marriage is done while they were courting.
Paul said his wife denied him sex on the first and second night of their wedding which was conducted by Igwemoh.
According to his statement on oath before the court: ”I reported my wife refusal for me to have sex with her to my pastor who invited us to his office and advised both of us to be using condom for the period of three months.
“I was puzzled but I did not say anything because he is my pastor.
“There was a day I returned Pastor’s car to him in the church. I met one Pastor Comfort who told me Pastor was inside the office. After knocking severally, the Pastor refused to open the door but he switched off the light.
“After five minutes, I saw my wife coming out of Pastor’s office ruffled and sweating profusely. Pastor came out of the office and was wearing boxers and singlet.
“On June 17th, I went to the Pastor’s office and met my wife. The pastor was lying down in the bed while my wife was sitting on the floor very close to the Pastor.
“I asked my wife to follow me home but she to say saying she has not finished with the pastor. She returned home at 7pm.”
Paul said all efforts for him to make the marriage work failed as his wife moved out on July 6th, 2018.
Presiding Magistrate, I.U. Iyioha adjourned further hearing to March 21, 2019.

nairavsdollars: Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and co-chairman of APC Presidential Campaign Council spoke with journalists in Alausa, Ikeja after voting in last Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections on the chances of his party and other issues. TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI brings the excerpts:
How would you assess the election so far?
It is peaceful. So far; so good. It demonstrated the resilience of Nigerians. We are using one of the best and difficult ways to select our representatives. Even democracy is not the easiest project to manage; it is not the easiest system to maintain, but with resilience and strong determination, we are getting there and we are making progress. This morning (Saturday) I can say within this polling unit and some other ones that I have passed through, they are doing well.
How would you describe the comportment of the electorate who trooped out to cast their votes?
I commend them because despite the fact that the elections were postponed last week Saturday, they were still excited and ready to cast their votes despite the postponement. There could be frustration and disappointment at one point or the other. But we could see that it was not deliberate. We could see that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as the umpire, gave us very good briefing throughout the week; giving us progress report. That is taking response to bullet. That is being open; that is being honest. We must move ahead; that is what we need in Nigeria and in a democratic society.
If the people of Nigeria vote out your party, what would you do?
I will say we will accept it; that is peoples’ verdict; that is their decision. Any democrats that cannot accept the results of free and fair elections, is not worthy of the name. You must be able to accept the results of a free and fair election.
What is your hope? Do you think you can win this election?
My hope and determination and for my party is that we are winning.
What gives you the confidence?
Because we have the support of the people. Look back and look at our rallies alone, that is an indication of who have the populace; the ordinary people. We are not talking about the elite; the rich. We are talking about ordinary farmers, traders, artisans and the common men. We are talking about parents whose children are feeding now at least once a day. We are talking about those people. They have to be grateful and still continue with him.
If the opposition rejects the result, what happens?
They are not democrats. They don’t believe in value and philosophy; you will see their desperation and they cannot claim to be democrats.
There have been complaints about logistics in some areas of Lagos State. Are you satisfied with the performance of INEC?
I am satisfied with what INEC is doing so far. You don’t drive yourself like a vehicle. You can easily develop fuel pomp problem on the highway. It is something that is mechanic. INEC said it experienced bad weather last week. I fly a lot. I have come to a situation where I got to an airport in this country and after spending two hours, we could not land. You cannot but accept nature. That one is beyond you.
There are allegations that your party is planning to rig the election. For example, there are pictures online that surface about bullion vans coming out of your premises?
Bullion vans; are they ballot papers? Where am I voting now?
There are allegations that those bullion vans carry money or ballot to rig election?
Is it my money or government money? I don’t work for government. I am not in the agencies of government. And let anybody come out to say I have taken any contracts from the government of President Muhammadu Buhari or All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last four years. They should prove it. I am on my own and I am committed to my party. So, even if I have money to spend in my premises; what is your headache? If I don’t represent any agency of government and I have money to spend, can’t is spend it? If I have money and give it to the people free of charge as long as it is not to buy votes. You are talking of yesterday; so who are those watching my house and seeing bullion vans; they must be mischief-makers. They are lazy people and liars.
How would you describe the electoral process in Nigeria?
None of you became adult suddenly in one day. Without the advent of science and technology, you wait until the delivery before you can even identify the sex of a child. In your home, to raise your children and to even organise your kitchen and your living room, it takes time, perseverance, tolerance, endurance, consistency and strong determination, that we have adopted in democracy and that we want it to grow. So, we leave with the hate and pains, peace and value of it and then, we would move on. https://www.independent.ng/those-who-reject-election-results-are-not-democrats-tinubu/ Buhari is the chief of rejecting election results.. goalernestman: The Powerful Kingdom in Nigeria and first Empire recognized by foreign traders was (Ubini) Edo Kingdom. The Edo King captured many towns such as Eko which is now Lagos and also captured Ijebu and Edo Kingdom was stretched from Ijebu and Lagos to Republic of Darhomey which is now change to Republic of Benin. Respect for the priestly functions of the Oni of Ife was a crucial factor in the evolution of Yoruba ethnicity. The Ife model of government was adept and derived its military strength from its cavalry forces, which established hegemony over the adjacent Nupe and the Borgu kingdoms and thereby developed trade routes farther to the north.
Edoland established a community in the Yoruba-speaking area east of Ubini before becoming a dependency of Benin Kingdom at the beginning of the 14th century. By the 15th century it became an independent trading power, blocking Ife's access to the coastal ports as Oyo had cut off the mother city from the savanna. Political and religious authority resided in the oba (king) who according to tradition was descended from the Ogiso dynasty in Benin Kingdom. Benin, which may have housed much inhabitants at its height, spread over large square km that were enclosed by concentric rings of earthworks. By the late 15th century Edo Kingdom was in contact with Portugal who discovered an Empire of great men with civilization and resources (palm oil, ivory, cotton etc.) which was traded through a trade of import and export of natural resources which has been part of Edo culture. At its apogee in the 16th and 17th centuries, Edo encompassed parts of southeastern Yorubaland, and the western parts of the present Delta State. there's no way to even respond to this I thought bini empire stretched over all of Africa up till oyinbo land? Is that not what you tell yourselves? |

goalernestman: Portuguese traders were said to be the first set of explorers that found Calabar as a safe haven for commercial activities. Their arrival which later attracted other European explorers, brought about the commercial and religious boom that brought Calabar to fame.
The old Residency building
Mudiaga Affe
Calabar, the capital of Cross River State in today’s 21st century Nigeria was before 1914 the capital of the Southern Protectorate. It lost the status to Lagos when the southern and northern protectorates were merged to become what is today known as Nigeria.
Despite losing the status over 100 years ago, relics and tales of a former capital still abound in the ‘Paradise City’.
One of the most prominent edifices that will remind any tourist of the city as a capital city is the ‘Old Residency’, otherwise known as ‘Government House’ which has now become a national monument.
The Old Residency building, originally known as ‘Government House’ was fabricated in Britain in 1884 and erected at old Calabar to accommodate British administration of the Niger Coast Territories.
The edifice, which was renovated in 1986 by the National Museum and Monument, was declared a national monument (No. 20) in 1959. It was the seat of the Oil Rivers and Niger Coast Protectorates and the Protectorate of Southern Nigeria (after 1914) of the resident of the old Calabar province.
In the 1950s, the building served as a ministerial guest house and after the Nigerian civil war, it accommodated the then South Eastern State of Nigeria.
Portuguese traders were said to be the first set of explorers that found Calabar as a safe haven for commercial activities. Their arrival which later attracted other European explorers, brought about the commercial and religious boom that brought Calabar to fame.
While the commercial aspect of the European exploration may have gone into extinction following dilapidated buildings of United African Company, John Holt, Yamaha, among others that are scattered around the Bay Side axis of Calabar, the religious facet has survived for over a century with exponential expansion.
During the era of slave trade, the Calabar waterways was a major exporting route used by the European traders. It is on record that out of the 2, 579, 400 slaves that were traded out of Africa between 1690 and 1807, about 31.1 per cent of them emanated from bight of benin Calabar
and also recorded that the first visit of the European to Nigeria was in calaba in 1486 AD, and the first king that sign agreement for them to enable them trade with ss se sw nigeria was oba eware . OK All kinds of minds on nairaland British occupation and colonial activities have nothing to do with the issue of European first visit, neither does the Transatlantic slave trade I'm genuinely interested in your source of calabar being the first place visited by the Portuguese You see the emboldened part? 1. Provide a reliable source on this 1486 dated visit to calabar 2. Lagos was already visited in 1472 and written about in some detail by the Portuguese https://afrolegends.com/2015/01/14/why-the-name-lagos/As at this time Eko as a kingdom wasn't even established 3. According to how well the ọba of benin kinglist has been dated 1486 was during the reign of Ọba Ozolua, and would be nice to have your source on this treaty 4. SS, SW, SE Nigeria in 1486 |

goalernestman: but when they came to Nigeria they saw benin make an agreement with benin give them control over the south west east of Nigeria the only kingdom benin could not give them control over was dahomey because it was another kingdom of it own, they traded with benin Nigeria then in 400 years. i can give u evidence of this.
the first place they visited in nigeria was calaba who direct them to [ nigeria city benin benin then] oba of benin telling them is the emperor of Nigeria benin then in 14th century. they came to meet oba ewara who was recorded by Portuguese and benin as the first king of nigeria to meet the European Please give the evidence then cus right now it is quite an interesting thing you are making up here Never have i read of Calabar being the first place in Nigeria visited by Europeans, can you provide your source to that? and when the Omonoba was ever referred to as emperor of Nigeria one would think Nigeria was a colonial creation, i didn't know Oba Ewuare was already emperor of Nigeria |

goalernestman: there was no biafra and they were bight of biafra, if there was no biafra was kingdom was there in present day Cameroon from 1400 years to 1900 years ago. europen first came to west africa in 14th century meaning 1400 years ago and they meet Ghana Dahomey Benin biafra. if this kingdom is not what they meet why not bring your fact. Ehn it is because there is no evidence of a Biafra. There's absolutely no fact to be brought European maps are not authorities on African history, they were full of errors and non existing kingdoms while omitting existing ones |

goalernestman: do you see igbo in what i post. in European record of west Africa there was no igbo or yoruba, only 1 Dahomey present day Benin 2 Benin who have bight of benin named to a ocean that flows below it, present day Nigeria 3 biafra present day Cameroon. note i never mention igbo kingdom My point was there is no historical biafra in that part of africa. And that already establishes a huge error in the map. Not in Igboland nor in modern Cameroon |

goalernestman: British account of west Africa from 14 century to 19 century 1. That's clearly Portuguese not British, the Portuguese seemed to confuse west - east a lot... So if any kingdom of Biafra existed it would have been further west, possibly referring to the Biafada people 2. Biafra isn't even an igbo word nor did such a name exist amongst igbos historically.. If you want to claim Biafra was an ancient igbo kingdom what modern state did this kingdom constitute? Who are the modern descendants of this kingdom? Tell us about this kingdom 3. If huge errors can already be established at first glance, I wonder what other errors are in early European maps |

steveosaz: First of all, this thread was opened by a fool for the exclusive pleasure of idiots. These are people with no sense of history who are basically crude manufacturers of history. One of them made this observation
To which one of the ignorant fools had this moronic response
...and then this completely unfortunate pig who is totally unconcerned about unraveling his chequered history but strangely has an inexplicable interest in the story of others. That's classical Yoruba hypocrisy in action being demonstrated by a yorubastard! Like I've said, you are only using the fact that majority yorubas lack traditional knowledge and don't visit Ifẹ̀ The evidence of Odùduwà's origin is littered in everything that has to do with the man in question... While many of the chiefs still play mystery around it (as is traditional to do so) once you know what you're looking for you will see it clearly in festivals and even the Ọọ̀ni coronation To conclude... Odùduwà was a native Yoruba man not Edo |

OrlandoOwoh: This question is a corollary of the submission of Musiwa in a question related to the name, asked in a thread in the politics section. According to Musiwa, whose submission I buttressed after questioning some elderly people, the name doesn't have a meaning. If you break it into "oba" and "sanjo", the meaning you get makes you cast some doubt: Oba (king) and sanjo (to reward something good done to). While it's common for 'ordinary' people to reward each other it's doubtful and unheard of that an oba rewards the way 'ordindary' people do. What do you think? The "oba" in the name I believe refers to Obaluaye |

xolomonstrides: Why leave exposed research and follow the unexposed. Well that he blended well does not mean he spoke the same language. The white man came to Nigeria and they blended well. that post was actually years ago. I possess more knowledge on the matter now Shortly put... Odùduwà did not come from igodomigodo If you want research, check out Odùduwà's connections to oke-ora and the Obadio lineage |
