This is tragic. Developments like this reflect the impotence of the federal govt in living up to its functions. With all the monies, the govt throws around; what stops it from setting up a committee to look into ways of injecting stimulus packages or life jackets to ailing banks in these times? What's the CBN governor doing? Does he think at all? |
It's called Insecurity. |

I experienced exactly this sometime in the year 2001. Fresh out of Youth Service and after long months of fruitless job searches, i was in Owerri when my Uncle sent me a link for a Bank job exam in PH. The exam was set at 12 noon on a wednesday or so. From Owerri to PH was like an hour long drive; so i planned to set out that money, finish the exam and come back same day in the evening or at most, night. And so, the day came and i set out. On getting to the venue, i saw a huge crowd of applicants like me. Some met old school mates and they got chatting. I saw few familiar faces as well, but then all man were too tensed to do too much catch up. We all sat waiting for 12noon. For the exam. 12noon turned to 1pm. 1pm turned to 2pm, and 3pm. No show. It turned to 5pm and 6pm. Very disorganised bank. I think it was ETB bank then. We were all worried but couldn't leave. At this late hour, they came and told us there was some problem and the exam would be held the next day. I wondered how shallow they could be, believing everyone lived in PH. I looked outside, it was already dark. People began to leave, following the announcement. Some made up to follow their friends to their houses and come back the next day. I knew nobody i could follow home. ( How do you convince a total stranger to shelter you within few mins?) I begin beg anyone i ran into. None worked. I ran out and took a bike, with his help i found some cheap mosquito infested hotel and slept in. Terrible. That was my last card( My TFare back to Owerri) The next day i came.back to the venue and finally wrote the exam. All through the exam, i kept wondering how i would go back home to Owerri. As i narrated my ordeal to some guy after the exam, i didn't know there was this young lady who listened in as i spoke. From behind, she came up and said, " I will help you with the Tfare." I was struck. I was more than grateful and stuttered thanks in various languages to her. I managed to have her phone number which she wrote down on a piece of paper and gave to me. I was yet to own a phone as GSM was new and i was broke. I made it home close to midnight that day. I couldn't forget that lady and held onto her phone number for a long time. And one day, as i sat outside to wash my clothes; our dog playfully picked on my wallet and rolled with it. I can't tell how it's teeth snapped on the paper, on the very lady's numbers on the paper. As much as i stared into it, i realized i couldn't place the numbers again. I beat that dog like mad that day. I beat myself too, knowing it was my first fck up. |
donstefano8:Cool. I hope the short Calabar guy has stopped cat fish pepper soup. Not at all healthy. |

Cowards die a thousand deaths before they die. A soldier dies but once. This man is a bonafide coward. They've sacked you (1st death) Will they kill you in your house if you admit you celebrated the man's death? |

No original ideas that translates the realities of the region. This is how fake Nigerian leaders are. It's obvious he's copying what's going on in the US. Because US governors have decided to start opening their states, slowly based on their koro statistics; you in Ogun just woke up and decided to join the queue. I don't get this stupidity. |
