If tribunal finds the election valid...only a dumb would think Supreme Court will remove the President on technicality....equal powers before the law. IN SUMMARY.. If the APC agreed that Shettima was nominated on an earlier date,, (which was supposed to coincide with the last possible date for his nomination, without which Tinubu gets disqualified), then Shettima would go in for double nomination.. And then, if they agreed that Shettima was nominated on a later date, then, Tinubu must already had been disqualified,, being that his 14-days for replacing the resigned place-holder had already elapsed long time ago. |

I never said Igbos alone are the problem. I spoke from personal experiences and cited specific situations. Even today, I still did business with my Igbo brother/tenant in Ibadan. They are doing well with their businesses. Still, today one complained about how Igbos fixed Festac and Yorubas want it back. I think the issue is of mindset. I didn’t join issues with the guy cos I’m sure he said that knowing I’m a detribalized person. I wanted to use the opportunity to educate him but decided it wasn’t my place at that time. We need to get away from this group is trying to do this to us … or see us as problem and intentionally try to integrate.
Poor people and people going through a lot look for others to blame. Both sides must be cautious of this and work to assimilate. Why can’t Igbos hire more Yorubas…be their godfathers and godmothers….it happens abroad. Why can’t Igbos give Yoruba scholarships…and Fulanis…provide pipe borne water not when you live there but as gifts to humanity.
Other ethnic groups might feel that the reciprocity isn’t being done. Instead of saying they don’t want us…listen and adjust because even among Igbos there are no clear consensus on cessation from the Union or unity or love in Igboland, so should we agree for our brothers and sisters to return to bloodshed and watch from afar? I opposed Yoruba Nation for the same reason because it is madness to think creating a nation of tribes will solve anything when even those major tribes have many minor tribes, cultures and different traditions. We must intentionally love and work hard to unite ourselves…in doing more, we find peace and love. Ask yourself, what would Jesus do?
E
I strongly believe that a complete division of Nigeria will solve the many differences. We are too diverse and different to peacefully work together with one goal.
Take a look at Europe, the countries are made up of people of similar cultural heritage; similar language or dialect, similar religion, etc. This reduces disagreements and suspicion and give leadership a more easier task.
Forcing Nigeria to remain as one based on US or any other diverse country that aren't predominantly blacks is a waste. Blacks have different mentality, reasoning and compassion.
Since Igbos are the problem and the troublemakers in Nigeria as established by you in all your comments; they don't respect their host, they don't abide by the laws of their host, they try to take over their host rights or any other reasons you gave, don't you think it is better to cut them off from the Nigerian union so that they will stop being a clog in the wheel of Nigeria's development and progress?
This was what Malaysians did with Singaporeans to restore peace and together both Malaysia and Singapore are doing very well apart, why can't we follow similar pathway instead of always complaining about this particular Igbo people that have refused to change their evil ways by letting them go their separate ways for peace to reign? Why is it so difficult to let go of a hinderance, a troublemaker, a waste pipe, a barren group from a union, so that the union can be peaceful and productive for the good ones init?[/quote] |

You are suggesting amputation to treat a small wound. If US didn’t split into two even after a civil war on slavery, I see no need for Nigeria to split up. You respect your host..something all Nigerians do in other countries. If aYoruba man moves to SE, assimilate and be a part. Our children abroad master the host expectations and become like them…they dress like them, eat, attend similar schools, events, parties and so on. Igbo can’t be in Yoruba land and be separate…their own markets, area, their own leaders governed by some leaders from faraway SE. You don’t trust this way. A word is enough for the wise…Integrate and be truly united if truly you have found a new home…act like it. franchasofficia: The only way to solve tribalism issue in Nigeria to a great level is through peaceful division of Nigeria to smaller nations with people of similar or closer cultural, religious traits as one nation like it is done in Europe, so that every tribe can carry their burden and not blame others for their woes and so that if Igbos still decide to be living in Southwest or North or any other region, they would go there with a visa or something and will know that they are in a foreign land and if they fail to abide by the laws of the Yoruba country or Northern country or whichever country, they get prosecuted as foreigners.
But unfortunately when Igbos suggest this as a peaceful way to settle the age long tribal wars and supremacy battle in Nigeria, Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis still stand against it and even use state security to victimize and subdue Igbos for trying to peacefully secede from Nigeria for peace to reign. Its a very crazy situation.
Honestly the way I see this, it will get to a time every Nigerian will beg for Nigeria to divide, which remains the best solution for peace and communal progress to reign in Nigeria cos no love is lost between Nigerian tribes. |

Thanks for your response. I am glad you acknowledged some of the bad practices. Some of these have created a dent in trust. Tenants dragging issues with landlords to court. When 4 people rent and bring 20 more people because landlord does not live with them, it feels like an invasion too but people keep quiet in frustration. Abroad, that is how it feels to the Americans shouting illegal immigrants even to children born and raised in the USA. Because I am a teacher, I have intentionally made it my duty to improve African-Blacks relationship by explaining why we congregate. Igbos might not drag Obas in Lagos but elect Eze and other local chieftainsy titles in Yoruba land. I was watching this morning on AriseNews and they asked President Alaba Market of Electronics about his relationship with Iyaloga Lagos....he said...Alaba is an international market and Iyaloja is for tomato and local sellers. Iyaloga is the head of all markets in Lagos the reported tried to tell him...he said we have our own people and leadership. This is how Igbos create problems for themselves in Yoruba land. He said our father, Ohanaeze Ndigbo came to see the demolition which made us happy and met with the Gov. Is that really necessary and what power does he have in Yoruba land? He said committee set up by Lagos Govt doesn't include them so he wants to dictate for Lagos. Now people wonder...can yorubas be this bold in Igbo land? While I get your frustration...even well educated yorubas are NOW seeing the tribalism and ethnicity and unlike the past when they focus on justice, equity and freedom for all...they now feel they have been fooled and you would hardly see condemnation of Lagos leadership now. Peter Obi isn't helping fighting a Yoruba President either and always congratulating Igbo indegenes. SADLY THE BOAT MIGHT HAVE SAILED AND THESE RELATIONSHIP MIGHT HAVE BEEN IRREVOCABLY DAMAGED. Unless you put yourself in the position of the Host, you will always see yourself as a victim in the host state. “Until the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter.” franchasofficia: First I must thank you for your awesome comment and civility in your comment, I really appreciate that, well done sir.
That issue of some Igbo tenants bringing in more occupants in their flat after renting a flat as maybe a family of 5 is mostly common among traders who have servants known in Igbo dialect as "umu boi". I understand its a bad practice, I also condemn the act cos I believe the Oga ought to rent a house for his extra servants, not bringing 3 to 5 grown up boys into a single flat, its completely bad.
But this does not in any way mean disrespecting Lagos indigenes or their host because such Igbo tenants that bring extra occupants to their flats as his servants or boys also do same to Igbo landlords and other tribes' landlords, not just to Yoruba landlords only.
The only way Yorubas could claim Igbos don't respect their Lagos host is if Igbos do gather and invade a community in Lagos to forcefully or violently chase them out and take over their land and refuse to vacate just as Fulani herdsmen do to Yorubas in many Yoruba communities yet I have never heard Yorubas cry about this or condemn it except when Igboho challenged them 2 years ago.
Neither have Igbos ever dragged Oba title with Lagosians in Lagos. No Igbo have even contested to become Lagos Governor, all the contestants Lagos APC always tag Igbo are all bonafide Yoruba sons.
Before it was Jimi Agbaje they tagged Igbo, this year it was GRV, who knows who will be next, maybe Bola Tinubu's grandson with some Igbo blood in decades to come? Or maybe Femi Fani Kayode's sons from his Igbo wife, who knows who will be the next target of their ethnic profiling politics?
Now on the issue of giving back to Lagos community that helped in making me who I am today, I employ Yorubas, near my office, there are two Yoruba aged women (around 60 to 70) who own petty shops near my office, I do always give them things every festive period and they always call me their son. Our relationship is so cordial to the extent that there was a time I traveled and didn't come to work for like a month, when I returned they came to my personal office to ask me what happened that they had been asking about me.
I also once gave back to the community I did my NYSC in Osun state, though it was once but I planning to start something sustainable there soon by God's grace.
As for Lagos, I had a bigger plans before the election, since after the last governorship election in Lagos, I started having a rethink out of fear. I have been so skeptical of Lagos. Not just me but a lot of other Igbo friends and colleagues who even own bigger properties in Lagos have already started thinking of selling them off out of fear of the unknown.
Before now, most Igbos see Lagos as their second home, including the ones staying abroad but honestly the last election has put serious fear and discomfort in the hearts of most Igbos about Lagos. |

While I feel your pain and I have Igbos as friends and even have agents that are Igbos and so on. I think in trying to explain yourself, you also highlight some issues. Your estate leader was or is Igbo for 6yrs and you served under him. Some people feel like when Igbos get to power, they only bring their own under them ...not sure if i will find yorubas or fulanis as mentees at Alaba market. Instead they would rather bring someone from afar state. I've rented to many Igbos..I know landlords that won't because of their actions...they might pay rent but 1 occupant becomes 6. All of these exert pressures on resources. This is why you had attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, on Foreigners in USA and so on...because the locals feel diminished in their own land. Now, there is a solution. Intentional desire to work across tribes and tribal sentiments. Let Igbos like you create scholarships for Yoruba because Lagos has been good to you...Build affordable housing for orphans and help widows in SW where you have made your money...it should not all be personal wealth, accolades, chieftaincy titles in your village and massive mansions where you hardly go to...it might sound like a generalization...but I don't mean it so. You have to be intentional and understand your host...then you can reverse the misconception and misunderstanding.
franchasofficia: Is this bitter rant necessary? You made a beautiful post but spoilt it with this unnecessary bitter comment.
I am Igbo, a reputable man from my community is Femi Otedola's close friend and ally right from the time of Goodluck. He was among the people that mediated for Otedola when he was bankrupt and Goodluck bailed him. He visited Otedola almost monthly in Ghana where Femi was spending most of his time then until Goodluck came to power and bailed him. He is Igbo, he is closer to Femi Otedola than you that's same tribe with Femi Otedola.
My point is, only poor wretched and bitter people carry tribalism on their head like gala even when there is no need to.
I lived in Lagos for years, Lagos favored me a lot. I owe Lagos state tribute for my life's success. I cherish Lagos even more than my own state. I never wished Lagos bad, in fact I once wished Lagos could become a megacity like Paris, reason I supported a change in government in Lagos so Lagos can achieve its full potentias. I never for once disrespected Lagos and will never do. I paid all my levies and dues and even tax to Lagos state government. I contributed in my community development in Lagos because I was once a committee member of my LCDA and estate. We ensured we had adequate security. The chairman of my estate landlord and tenants association for over 6 years was an Igbo man.
Many of you go about spreading falsehood about Igbos and causing unjustified hatred for Igbos by falsely lying that Igbos don't honor or respect their host and I keep wondering how? This worthless claim only come to limelight every 4 years in Lagos that its election time that Lagos APC use the tactics to deceive bigots like you to vote for them and attack Igbos yet you refuse to use your wisdom.
Tell me categorically how Igbos disrespect Lagos indigenes in Lagos?
Don't start that Lagos is a no man's land mantra cos it was a positive slang started by a Yoruba man who was Lagos Governor and some Igbos used it to explain how welcoming Lagos is to everybody without discrimination. Never for once did Igbos contest to become Oba in Lagos? Have Igbos ever attacked Lagosians in a bid to snatch and take over their lands like Fulani herdsmen do to you, yet you never for once condemned Fulani tribe for that.
God and divinity will judge people like you. Be careful in life, life is deeper than internet fun and cruise catching cos u are causing heavy hatred and distortion of truth with the potential of causing genocide and ethnic civil war.
What crime did Igbos commit in 2023? That Peter Obi an Igbo man contested for Nigeria's President? First time Igbos massively supported an Igbo Presidential candidate after Igbos supported Presidential candidates from other tribes; Shagari (Hausa), Obasanjo (Yoruba), Yaradua (Fulani), Goodluck (Ijaw), Atiku (Fulani) yet you guys have been going on rampage just because Igbos supported an overqualified and competent Igbo Presidential candidate for once.
Be honest, if it was Igbos that produced Obasanjo from 1999 to 2006, Osinbajo from 2015 to 2023, and still insisted they must produce next President in 2023, how will Yorubas and Hausa-Fulanis have reacted to it? You guys would have told the whole world how greedy, heartless and arrogant Igbos are and how greedy Igbos are trying to dominate Nigeria by not allowing other Southern tribes to produce President.
God is watching you all, sorrow may endure for the night but joy will definitely come in the morning, you all will live to see what the Lord can do |

Last week, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos Ministry of Transportation, Abdulhafiz Toriola, disclosed this. He stated that this certificate would help vehicle owners and the government assure the integrity of all vehicles registered on the National Vehicle and Identification Scheme database and track car theft and recovery of stolen vehicles. MasterTeeUSA: There are so many reasons why this is good. It is like car registration
1. You cannot steal a vehicle and go for Proof of Ownership. If the car has been declared wanted, you are going to be in big trouble. 2. If a car is sold, the new owner will be forced to get his own proof of ownership and justify the purchase. 3. This is done in sane countries...in Maryland USA, I think its biannually 4. It can also be used to enforce...Police can ask for Proof of Ownership and verify the documents with NIN/IDs 5. Even if you try to repaint or change a stolen vehicle, you will still need to have proof of sale and submit documents for Proof of Ownership
Yes, is it extra tax on the people that have vehicles...yes, but it will also provide JOBS JOBS JOBS and open up another way to generate revenues to pay those workers.
Like I told someone before...US/UK pay so many different taxes, and that is how they are also able to provide so many different types of jobs or contracts.
US Military spending alone is greater than almost all countries combined...You have Haliburton, GE, Boeing, Amazon, Google...all of them get Govt contracts. You have IRS and officers that collect and enforce taxation. You have Federal Police, different from State Police and Local Govt or County Police and you also have City Police...State Highway Police and so on. Govt pays for all of them and use the same taxes...FireHouse and workers in every few streets, Medicaid for elderly which opened job opportunities that people run to...Nursing, Doctor and so on. Even IT and CyberSecurity is due to Govt spending.
So if you want more jobs private or public, you must take and distribute. Rich people that have 10 cars will have to pay N10,000 per year...which is nothing to them.
I support this move for all of the reasons above. If you cannot pay N1000 per year, you should not be driving please and thank you. |
