@Sagamite, even when a dishonourable fellow performs a honourable act; it acts is still deemed honourable. For every crime you can accuse GEJ same or similar accusation can be made against any of the ruling class in both APC & PDP. In this same Nigeria IBB annulled what is considered the freest election in Nigeria, today same IBB is accorded respect and walks freely in Naija. In 2011 we were all witnesses to the bloodshed's following the election, there was no way BuharI could have won that election, even Tinubu on numerous occasions and even of recent alluded to it; which as we have seen today the then failed alliance between ACN & CPC then, which was restated and morphed to APC with a stronger ACN ( more governors) produced the required result, yet hundreds of innocent people murdered in Buhari''s name or in pursuit of his cause; not a word from the General; he choose to look the other way, GEJ said his ambition is not worth the blood of any person; by doing this he has kept his word, avoided an avoidable crisis for the country. He could have chosen to do otherwise tonight, we may not know if he had, how it would have ended for him; but I can tell you it would have been worse for ordinary Nigerians on the street.

And we are supposed to believe you gave this moniker to FFK from the goodness of your heart. You guy's are a disgrace both APC and PDP tool'such on this site. All lacking in intergrity, what's the difference between your guy's and your cronies in power? Nada. Please ensure that your next monitor reads something like NairalandAPC00 so people can identify and place your partisan opinions expressed, same goes for your PDP colleagues. Nice try at social engineering, trust Nigeriana to tilt towards the negative flavour.

Amosun will win the governorship election due to his performance but I sincerely doubt that it will translate to victory for APC in the presidential election. With GEJ going round the southwest if he cuts a deal like he did with Tinubu in 2011; with the Osoba's camp, Dimeji's camp and with the support of the existing PDP; APC cannot win Ogun.

You guys are all shameless including the attention-seeking 'ashewo' called Aye Dee who is just 'chopping' GEJ's dollar FFK and Okupe-style. I can't blame you guys for not understanding the meaning of jet lag because non of you have ever sat in a plane let alone travelled anywhere in one. Buhari arrived Nigeria yesterday on a flight from the UK and he is allowed, as all travellers of all age, to take it easy for a day or so after arriving from a long flight because of jet lag. Anyway, the OP is a village illiterate and the same chap who claimed a BA commercial flight "sneaked" Buhari into Nigeria. Not surprised to see he is here showing his ignorance while other unexposed villager egg him on. At least Aye Dee has flown in a Plane before but , as with every mercenary connected to campaigning for GEJ, he prefers to deceive ill-exposed Olodo Villagers like the OP. Pathetic to see you laughable villager singing and dancing for the oppressors who have ensured that you have never flown in a plane at your age.
http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/may/19/how-recover-from-jet-lag
Stop trying to be clever by half; the honest truth is Buhari is Old hence require more recovery time; Presidents are expected to work round the clock; He has been away resting for 10 days, arriving yesterday morning on most likely on first class , it is smacks of B.S to suggest jet lag being the sole reason he is unable to join in a solidarity March in his honour considering if we are to go by what you guys say ten's of thousands of those marching are doing so on empty stomach. Don't make seem like we all take 2 days to recover from 6 hours flight even in economy, especially when we have the biggest battle of our life at hand.

Both parties know once election I'd over case will die a natural death. Tinubu knows this; AIT knows it, this case most likely won't be heard in court until after election anyway so it's a face saving move by Tinubu. For those saying that AIT would be made to reveal who the sponsor are; who will make them ? The court's ? Will AIT not request the court's to instruct lagos state government to open its books on its dealings in the past 16 years, you and me know it will not make palatable reading for Tinubu and Co. Some of this allegations are weighty and some involving physical entities and assets in plain view, nobody will handover almost 1Billion dollars, without fighting hard...except of course you are one of those naive enough to think Tinubu is squeaky clean. The most I have seen on this board is people comparing level of corruption, good start at least we know that this guy's to an extent are all the same.

Like you and your God father Tinubu promised - Blue & Green line light railway; Fourth Mainland Bridge; Modernised Public Schools; u guys are all the same -- same difference Fashola -Tinubu - Jonathan. If after 16 years of APC rule in lagos, things can be only said to have slightly improved; then we need Agbaje PDP in lagos and Buhari as president; so the next set of clowns that are in power know that its either they perform or get booted out.
Your government for the revenue generated internally and federal allocation have performed below avarage; when you compare and contrast with the likes of Amaechi - government (6yrs whilst in was still in PDP and prior to Politics taking control of his senses) or 3years of Amosun in Ogun state.

Poor choice; I think Mr Osinbajo is just a stop gap Tinubu candidate; It is possible he has already even signed a post dated resignation letter; to step down for Tinubu after election; remember Pastor Bakare was requested to do the same in 2011; Tinubu would not trust Amaechi to comply to such directive. If I was Buhari I would have gone for Amaechi; apart from having name recognition; he is a Christian and from South-South; in the south west my poster will be Buhari - Rotimi; Rotimi is also a Yoruba name; and in the SouthEast Buhari - Amaechi -also an Igbo name. Ticks all the boxes except the Tinubu beholden box; so it shows whether PDP or APC it is not about us; but about them.

Will the pregnancy affect her visa or studies?
Or is it best for her to defer her admission? Can she cope in the uk with pregnancy as a postgraduate student?
She has paid her full tuition fee and she's got more than enough for her living expenses. She is uber worried, she really wants to start january. Pls advice
Its best she comes now;reason being that if she defers she should say goodbye 2 post grad or when exactly will she be able to leave her young child to come study; not a fan of seperating babies from their mum when they are weeks or few month old..So l would suggest she comes; starts in Jan, if shes due in summer;she should get her hubby to come visit closer to her delivery; and since funds is not an issue she would find a creche -which may not be expensive as she wont be in school 9-5; also try to be stay close to relatives or seeing theres a huge Naija/african community she should start making friends. It gonna be difficult but its doable.

I hardly comment on tribalistic threads, but reading comments of socalled nigerians here, I sincerely hope that this is not representative of the nigerian populace. Are all the Sabo's in the southwest headed by Yorubas?
In other time with Tinubu's daughter installation some goons here justified her imposition that she was democractically elected by market people and was not imposed by the Oba or lagos state gov; this now begs the question was the disputed baba Oloja elected by 99% of the market traders. We should always remember that we always tend to expect to be treated equally when we are in a foreign country and quick shout racism or descrimination when we are not; comments above shows that we are guilty or what we tend to accuse others of; if an Igbo or Hausa person can be given chieftancy title by Oba's why then cant they be elected as baba Oloja.

What will be another masterstroke is for APC to throw its weight behind APGA's candidate seeing that in this state,APGA is the senior party, it will be a test for the socalled merger and if this happens then, we might take them abit more seriously, and could in effect open door for APC acceptability in the SE.

My brother, say what you will about me but my full time devotion to the loftiest ideals of respecting the human rights and entitlement of others means, as I do here, I have spoken when it has not been popular to do so. I will never compromise what I believe in to please anyone here. Being fair to others is something I hold sacrosanct.

If you want to understand why I speak here while you think it is best I am silent so those who cannot deal with their own emotionally compromised psyche are not able to judge me negatively, then look at how I spoke below in defence of the ambition of the son of Abacha who was a dictator I despised.

I am not here to be a 'likes' champion or to woo the majority in the crowd by saying what is populist. If I stay true to what I believe in and even convince one person to be similar in standing up for what they believe is fair and equitable, even in the face of lynch mob persecution, then I consider my membership here worthwhile. I please my own conscience knowing I stood up for what I believe in instead of being a poster who wants to be all things to all men and all women here.

The word "hypocrisy" is thrown around with casual aplomb here so look at how I spoke below, when the lynch mob convened against the son of Abacha and when it would have been prudent to say nothing if I am whorishly about seeking 'likes', to note I am only being consistent speaking here. Thank god past posts remain to separate those who will always go with the crow and those who commit to being principled even when it is unpopular to be that way. My views below are from 2009. I am no different today in being dedicated to speaking in defence of the right of others. It was Abacha's son then, it is Tinubu's daughter today. One thing unites them both. They have the fundamental rights to test their popularity for any position they are interested in. Let stakeholders judge them.

All this permutations sef..na wa 2015 is gonna be interesting, all becos GEJ is messing up.. To the GEJ goons here please tell ur boss he is messing up big time. GEJ can put 2015 out of contest in the next 15 months by doing the following:
1. Trains - Purchase 4 fast trains that would do lagos - Abuja in 6-8 hours (based on the distance 1126km/ train speed upto 160km/hr) total cost is around £10 million, note this trains are not top of the range but are diesel DMU's and a huge improvement from what we currently have.

2. Commencement of the construction of the 2nd Niger bridge..actual physical structures not paper or artist impressions

3. Fixing of strategic Federal highways e.g Apapa- Oshodi, Lagos- lbadan and others in the SE SS NW NE even if it is just 1 or 2 strategic federal highway in each region

4. Power-significant progress is being made in regards to transmission.. if this progress can be accelerated and generation increased significantly between now and next 15months.

5. National ldentity card - we have the solution in place; the system and technology required for this are already in place in nigeria and making adjustments will cost less than £5million and definately can be delivered in 15months and the government can even recoup it cost with the right idea.. .. keeping this close to my chest
All the above are achievable if the will is there and in the time frame..failure on GEJ part to achieve visible and sinificant sucess and progress rest solely on his shoulders and he has no business contesting and in that case APC fielding anybody against him would win.

Aliyu..should just shut up... These guys should quit acting as if they take action for the benefit of Nigeria..nope the only reason why Aliyu and his cohorts supported GEJ was because of their own Presidential ambition becos if Atiku had worn and ended up spending a term or two Aliyu and his cohorts have no ground to want to contest the presidential ticket in PDP in say 2019, so the dolt should quit speaking as if he is the mouthpiece of the north..if GEJ who I believe is currently a big failure should decide to renege on whatever promise he made in past due to his own ambition its his business and its in keeping with the style of 99% of our elected officials as they renege on their promises to Nigerians, so Aliyu and cohort got served and are welcome to join us ordinary nigerians that his ilks continually renege on their promises.

Gbawe:

You are generally correct in my opinion. If Buhari does not run then it will almost automatically be Ribadu. The problem is that most Nigerians are simply too sentimental and biased to be visionary or adept at solutions-provision. They speak based on what they want to happen rather than what is feasibly likely to happen. Right on this forum, I defended Ribadu's brave choice of running in 2011 when many here came out with the usual "Ribadu too much of a newby to run" garbage.

I told folks it was strategically clever of Ribadu to contest because even if he does not win he will have done his future chances good since he gains the visibility and "experienced" Presidential candidate status that will mean he will have stolen a March on the likes of El Rufai, Sanusi et al for the future.

Now, in the minds of many, it is naturally Ribadu if not Buhari. This is a general lesson about planning and thinking long term. Ribadu has participated in a Presidential election as a candidate. That, in itself, means he is in a stratosphere that automatically makes stakeholders respect him and view his choice as viable and electorally 'superior'.
The guy upped his CV big time, even after the election he gained more respect by blowing the lid open on the corruption in the oil sector, also the jailing of lbori and the subsequent revelation of from the CBN that the $15Million bribe did exist all enhanced his standing especially when viewed in our parlance where the so called Mr Integrity was caught in a web of $600k. Moreover if Buhari decides not to run..l hope he does the right thing and back Ribadu who agreed to stepdown for him in the failed 2011 alliance..l sincerely doubt if they will choose Tambuwal who as speaker has done nada to improve the lots of nigerians as their candidate l would rather continue with GEJ which would be a shame.

For the opposition to win, assuming gej contests, they will need GMB and a VP from either SS(Rotimi Ameachi) or SE(Ngige). The above combination resolves the issue of muslim-muslim ticket. I dont see the point of Fashola as VP; as other regions may read it as a backdoor to power for the SW after 8yrs of Obj, would rather see him as a possible Senate President. Jonathan cant win the SW with ACN govs in place and neither is his VP a south westerner and GMB will beat him in the north. The opposition will be making a very big mistake if they choose to ignore both the SS and SE, as I dont see how you can beat a man without attacking his strong base.

aribisala0:
Instead Instead of what?

Is giving out land integration? In order to answer that question one should ask what benefits are anticipated from integration. Integration afterall is not some gratuitous and nebulous end like nirvana or heaven there must be a reason.
For start Integration should have a vision and can cover

Security e.g share information logistics
Infrastucture : Joint planning budgeting and contracting e.g planning the aviation needs, health needs rail needs etc could have a regional focus in terms of envisioning and delivery
Excess capacity in a sector in one state could be anticipated and diverted to others either tactically or strategically this could mean a single ministry/department e.g for agriculture with synergies across states . Doctors may travel from state to state to carry out planned operations like cataracts hernias e.g
Environmental/Natural disaster management

There is today more integration in the EU than bewteen Nigerian states
Businesses have been forming partnerships for ever so there is no big deal to "integration" The key ideas are optimization and synergizing there is no evidence that a gift is in anyway an integration strategy and Ogun state have not foreclosed on Akwa Ibom(a state with whom they have no integration vision) buying land for agriculture so we must conclude that if it is truly about integration then agriculture is just a front since Lagos has littele agriculture expertise compared to Plateau or Nassarawa states.

Thank God, not everyone is like this dude below, @ Sokera read above and learn. Nigerians enjoy jumping on the bandwagon of any mantra - now its Regional Integration, we had vision 2020 - without questioning or investigating what it portends. AribisalaO - what you stated above is an indication of what regional Integration should be about.. not some frivolous land allocation. Its sad that when someone criticizes an ACN policy or plan, your immediately become a pessimist. Same lagos state has been known to deport other yoruba's to their state of origin, now the only thing that has changed its those state has now become govern by ACN and we are now being sold a dubious mantra of regional integration, little wonder Mimiko raised the question that can regional integration only be achieved based on ACN party affiliation.
I am pro regional integration and most sympathetic to ACN in comparison to any other nigerian political party, but I would not allow such to becloud my judgement @ Sokera you have a lot to learn.

Politics / Re: Gov Amosun Allocates 500 Hectares Of Land To Lagos State by Moves: 12:27am On Oct 26, 2012
This is totally wrong in my opinion based on what we know from the report.
1, Lagos State should have paid market price for this lands if they required the land, even though I don't support it.
2, It is not a good deal for Lagos state as some may think, especially in the nigerian parlance where anything can be sacrificed on the alter of politics, if the next gov is not ACN, his 1st point of call will be to revoke this land (Gov Amosun -did likewise to lands allocated by that basta..rd Gbenga Daniel)
3, It is funny how we tend to switch sides based on party affiliations, if GEJ did this the ACN goons here will start shouting the mantra "govt has no business in business" but ACN its regional integration. As someone stated earlier, lagos state has no track record in Agri Business, why invest in such a project in another state when you have projects and needs begging to be met in your domain, in saner clime we should be asking for his resignation as the money he is spending is ours.
4. As a Lagosian do I want our tax money used to create wealth and jobs in another state all in the name of regional integration whilst lagos state thousands of jobless people, roads filled with pot holes, 4th mainland bridge, traffic congestion and the list is endless. If Fashola is lacking in ideas of what next to do to secure the future of the state, he should invest in green technology making use of ocean and wind within his territory to generate energy..which will benefit lagos and create jobs for people in his domain.
5. And for those that will come up with this is a "PPP" rhetoric, will why is Lagos state involved, Ogun state has enough intellectuals in her govt cabinet to source PPP for her projects.
6. And if this is what Regional Integration is about then am glad Ondo state is not on board, investing in agriculture in another state is not regional integration.

@ Jarus, you idea is noble and I hope you are able to see it through; If I may suggest a topic- can we discuss or debate if Nigeria should be remain as it is or should we split the country. I know people may say it is controversial, but if you were to take a poll of topics in the politics section, it would be evident that a high percentage of the topics relates to this question.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Okays Sovereign National Conference, SNC To Take Off Next Year by Moves: 11:22am On Oct 01, 2012
Gbawe:

I certainly agree but let me add that it is a sincere SNC that is long overdue. Not a cynical show like what we saw under OBJ when our former President attempted to use the conference to surreptitiously sneak in his third term agenda.

The PDP can never convene a sincere SNC where suggested solutions will be holistically accepted and made law. They, as a Party, are too much about the central looting of Nigeria's wealth to ever accept the decentralisation and devolution of power an SNC would naturally favour. GEJ is just using vacuous populism to buy time. We see him regularly doing the opposite of what can transform Nigeria instantly.

This cannot be the man who will deliver a sincere SNC because he is the same chap, when it was entirely the wrong thing to do, who pandered to cronyism and showed he is not part of the solution by conceding our refineries into possibly the most corrupt and incompetent hands on Earth for the next 2 years. I.e the NNPC. That move alone ensures that efforts to make Nigeria refines its crude endowment ,optimally, is dead for the next 2 years. When a President is obviously sabotaging his own nation that brazenly, what more needs to be seen for us to understand we are at the mercy of another Oligarchic crew?

GEJ is simply another President leading for the Oligarchic takeover of Nigeria. A sincere SNC cannot come from such a character. His economic team is full of those who owe billions yet never stop bidding to control and corner State assets for themselves. I can bet any money that Otedola, Dangote et al will "win" the bids for Nigerian refineries in future.
@ Gbawe... What do you mean by a sincere SNC? sincerity on whose part? I know it is the job of opposition to criticize everything GEJ does, but the same opposition were clamoring for SNC, GEJ and the Senate are now buying into the Idea. IMO all GEJ has to do is to convene the SNC, the sincerity of purpose or outcome depends on the Nigerian people, their representatives, House of Rep and Senate which at the last check includes opposition party members (ACN, CPC ANPP, APGA et al).
In regards to the Oligarch, you conveniently excluded Tinubu and other opposition goons... Nigeria cannot move forward if we the youth continuously view and take positions on matters of national and economic interest based on ethnic, regional or party affiliations. Otedola and Dangote are known businessmen whose wealth are easily attributed to the business dealings regardless of whatever misgivings you and I may have about their business dealings whilst Tinubu is a known politician (a smart and astute one) and his wealth is attributed to his political activities.

The crux of his statement is government money cannot be stolen without a government accomplice(PPPRA) catch the government agent responsible and the rest will fall into place. The amount embezzled from the government coffers is too large an amount not to leave traces. I choose to read his comments as saying 'Mr President, If you want to get to the bottom of this issue, it can be done in a week, all that is required is the WILL'. Having this WILL is what is required to solve half of the country's problem especially when you read about countries like Georgia. All that is required is the WILL from the presidency.
