yewit37486:I have addressed this already. It is difficult for me Yoruba not to be tribalistic towards majority of Igbos presently, even a detribalized person. I know for a fact that I am not tribalkstic because I am interceding for your tribe and trusting God concerning you and yours, as many as will come to receive God's Mercy to see that it is not only enough to call the name of Jesus, but to do His will by departing from iniquity. Until you see yourselves as Christians frist before Igbo, you are not worthy to follow Jesus Christ. Until you become loyal to God first and begin to look on to Jesus Christ as the Author and Finisher of your faith, you will keep being loyal to your tribe and working against God where your tribe errs. 3 things Igbos need to change; 1. God resists the proud. So pray for the spirit of humility because your culture and tradition teaches you to be proud and even proud of your pride. This is infact evident in how you exhibit superiority complex over other tribes. 2. Love of Money. I don't need to elaborate on this. As much as every person and tribe is prone to this, your tribe and culture instills and institutionalised this in most of you. We know Contentment is God's Will, not love of money. 3. Idolatry. So many igbos are still affiliated with their gods in their home towns even after professing to give their lives to Christ. Also there is the Catholicism idolatry. Majority of igbos are catholics. If you were to be instrospective, you will know that I have studied and carefully observed the strengths and weaknesses of the Igbos as I have done some other tribes, including Yorubas. When I see Yorubas and other tribes manifesting pride and other vices peculiar to the tribe, I like wise minister to them accordingly. In fact I was at a point more ashamed of Yoruba's than Igbos. Until I realised the difference is simple; Yoruba tribe teaches Humility, however that humility can become perverted and instead of instilling humility it does the opposite. I hope you will receive this and not think I'm attacking igbos. I am hoping you will be the Light in your family and circle of influence by God's grace. |
yewit37486:The Word of God which is the basis of my posts accomplishes innumerable purposes according to God's will. 2Tim.3.16 - All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 2Tim.3.17 - that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. It can be to preach the gospel of salvation to sinners. It can be to encourage believers. It can be to confront unrepentant sinners. It can be to even woe Pharisees and saduccess (false teachers/prophets/ministers). You can't confine the Word of God to suit your pleasure. It is meant to illumiinate you to your blind-spots and cause you to repent. To help you seek the only One who can help you. To transform you as you follow and obey Christ with the right heart. As long as what I post aligns with God's Word, it is God's Will. Where you err, be humble to receive correction. Matt.10.34 - "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. Matt.10.35 - For I have come to "set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; Matt.10.36 - and "a man's enemies will be those of his own household.' Matt.10.37 - He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. I hope this answers your question. |
yewit37486:Old testament was about the chosen tribe of Israel against every other tribe. Jesus Christ was sent strictly to the lost sheep of Israel (Jews) He only healed the few Gentiles (non-Jews) whose faith He found astounding. We are the Gentiles. We only received God's Grace because Jesus Christ has now died for all of us to receive Grace to become the Tribe of God as many as Believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Who humble themselves to obey and do God's will. Whoever walks against God's will, those who fall under such category whether Yoruba or Igbo or Jew or Gentile, will suffer the same fate/consequences of anyone who goes against God's will. As long as you're anti-God's Will that makes you anti-Christ. As long as you're proud, that makes God resist you. The question you should rather ask yourself, is your tribe teaching and spurring you to do God's will or to disobey God's will? God bless you. |
yewit37486:It's not about me sir. it's about God's will. However and Whatever God wills, I follow. |
yewit37486:If I had agreed with you that Yorubas are tribalistic, would that have made me a better Christian to you? I speak the Truth as gracefully as God's Grace permits. While every tribe has the tendency to be tribalistic and truly are. The majority of the Igbo demographic have been tribalized beyond human repair. Only God can intervene now. |
rintileri:Every thing he said here is the truth. Though I perceive Igbos would have learnt their lesson before 20 years time. Igbos presently have remained stuck in the same cycle of hurt and anger since Biafra and have refused to allow themselves heal properly. Unfortunately, the superiority complex is a by-product of an ethnic heritage that has been institutionalised in your culture and nature. It is simoly Pride. God resists the proud. But how can one agree that God is fighting or resisting them because they carry a nature/spirit that God hates? May God please intervene and have Mercy on Igbos. It is painful to watch a people so gifted yet so resisted. When I meet the very few detribalized Igbos who are humble and honor others, I am truly amazed how they did it because only God takes that away from a person. |
Tamarinda:What matters then is not the money but the true sense of value you have and you project. When men and women get this, they will be content when broke and rich but will certainly not be poor and ashamed. When you're valuable, who dares to disrespect you? Whoever does, has lost the value you bring into their life. And they may never get it elsewhere. Value can be spiritual virtues and character. Or talent, skill, connection and also money that sets you apart and makes you worthy of respect even without you seeking for it. How blessed it is to be both spiritually and materially valuable. |
Love The chain reaction, the chemical precursors that signal the offset of an emotion designed specifically to overwhelm logic and reason. An emotion that is already blindening you from the simple and obvious truth (of the realistic illusion of our world). Hope The quintessential human delusion (unrealistic certainty) and simultaneously the source of our greatest strength and greatest weakness. -The Architect. #TheMatrix So much deep maxims in The Matrix. It answers a lot of the confusion between a Realist/Pragmatist and a Believer/Dogmatist. Yet both are right. One from the physical realm - Realists. The other from the spiritual realm- Believer. |
jonnieoneng:This, they do not yet understand because they do not listen to reason. |
boltwings:These are Catholicism apologists attempting to deny the obvious idolatry perpetrated by the church. I say it is obvious because everyone else knows it is idolatry. Even ex-Catholics know this. Only those who are loyalists to the church do not and in fact may not see it so. I asked to hear and know your own definition and perception of idolatry because if you actually do check the actual meaning of idolatry and understand it without trying to explain it away defensively, you won't only stop the idolatry but you will seek forgiveness. Now I've also visited and worshipped at Catholic churches with sone friends and as much as I wanted to believe I was wrong and people were wrong about the idolatry, it was inexcusable. 1. First, you pray to God through Holy Mary. This already defeats the purpose of Jesus tearing the veil of the temple and opening the direct access between every human being and God through Jesus Christ and no other name. Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between Man and God. Excuses of only appealing to Holy Mary to pray for you is just a manipulative device of the enemy to euthanize you into idolatry. 2. Also you have statues of Mary where certain prayers are specifically prayed. This is clearly idolatry, no excuses. 3. You shared in your post that you only felt at peace when you got the crucifix. Do you still need anyone to tell you that you believe in material things, graven images before you can believe your prayer is answered? What more proof of idolatry do you need? Now I do not believe in condemning any church completely as I know that God infact can be worshipped in Spirit and Truth any where as long as one obeys his commands as spelt out in the Word of God (not your special Bible but the 66 books). I believe the Charismatics movement of the Catholic Church is God's divine answer if you wish to remain a Cathoiic. But if possible, you may need to deconstruct the whole idolatry from yourself by trying a different church and make a fair judgment by yourself. Your spiritual life is central and determinant of every other partof your life. That you were born into a religion or denomination should not deny you of your power/right of choice to seek a personal encounter with the Almighty God, the creator of the Heaven and Earth. I pray that Grace and Mercy of God is multiplied to you. |
fr3do:You only saw what was going on in the West but your eyes were blind to what was going on in the East ba? It's one thing to lie and be repentant but to build a lifestyle out of lying has to be studied. You obidients will make a perfect Guinea pig. |
Wealthoptulent:Butterflies have the most beautiful metamorphosis I have seen in nature. Just so beautiful. |
yoniehuin:Thanks for this. This is what I meant that detribalization has to be simultaneously married with genuine civilization- not having hidden agenda or ulterior motives. Our rich heritage is a blessing. But not all is blessing. We must therefore know what to preserve and what to discard for that which is better- on a personal level and as much as possible, on a corporate/collective level. |
HonNL:This is to officially announce that I have ported from Manchester United to Manchester City. This is the greatest betrayal from a Manchester fan. But sorry I'm not even sorry. ![]() ManUTD needs a major overhauling. On Pep Guardiola's mandate I now stand. |
This is a sensitive discourse that I trust God to help us have an honest and balanced discussion over. To begin with, it is important to have the actual definition of some component words; 1. Tribe: (Noun) a. A socially, ethnically, or politically cohesive group of people. b. A society larger than a band but smaller than a state. c. (Zoology) A group of apes who live and work together. 2. Detribalize: (Verb) To cause (the members of a tribe) to lose their tribal culture. Detribalization will therefore be the process and methodology involved in getting or causing a people to lose their tribal culture. However this definition sounds rather negative on its own, it is therefore necessary and of utmost import that it is simultaneously married with civilization- true civilization without hidden agenda and ulterior motives. 3. Civilization: a. (Noun) An organized culture encompassing many communities, often on the scale of a nation or a people; a stage or system of social, political or technical development. b. (Proper Noun) Collectively, those people of the world considered to have a high standard of behavior and / or a high level of development. Nigeria as a country is a mishmash and pot-pourri of diverse tribes with their unique and diverse cultural identities and heritage jouned together as a result of colonisation, amalgamation and civilisation. It is important to establish that our match-making (amalgamation) was an unholy matrimony. It was either non-consensual and or manipulative. This is clearly as a result of the innate greed of both our ancestors and our colonists. We can not blame the colonists without ascribing due blame to our ancestors. This unholy matrimony gave birth to distrust and rivalry between the major tribes of the country especially the Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. There are so many versions of the story of our history as a country- Nigeria, depending on whose side of the story you listen to. However there is always the Truth. The Hausas have their perspective which they hold true. The Yorubas have their perspective which they hold true. The igbos like wise have their perspective which they hold true. Like wise the other tribes have their perspectives which they hold true. On this note, it is important to personally do an unbiased study and research on this history with a view to unlearn and relearn, setting aside our matural emotions and sentiments. It is advisable to listen and learn the perspective of others as well. And try to understand why they actually do not see from your perspective. This is the first step to our individual and collective detribalization. Loyalty is the crux of Tribalism and it's antithesis, Detribalisation. It is our need to be loyal to our tribe that fuels our tribalism. It will like wise be our need to be Loyal to the Truth that will fuel our detribalization. You will either become more loyal to your tribe or less loyal to your tribe. The culmination of it all is Cosmopolitalism. The idea that all of humanity belongs to a single moral community. When we realise that we are all Humans First before we began to form smaller units that grew into bigger units and became divided over the years, we will also come to realise, we are one big divided family. We have simply inherited family feuds and inter-tribal grievances and the cycles has continued from genelation to generation manifesting in various forms- racism, tribalism, xenophobia, etc. By God's grace, our generation will break this vicious cycle and make a difference, for the sake of God and our posterity in Jesus name. Amen

iammo:You need a change of heart/soul. Every thing you should hate is what you love. And some day you going to be a father. Is this the type of children you plan to raise and churn into society? Who is responsible for your irresponsibility? 1. Your parents? 2. Your siblings? 3. Your friends? 4. Media/Entertainment? You need to change your circle of friends first of all and your mindset about life and apparently a lot of things. God have mercy on whatever is left of your soul. |
Fujiyama:I truly appreciate your kind of person. You seem very emotionally balanced. The truth is it is difficult especially at this point in time judging by antecedents, precedents and recent incidents, not to be tribalustic towards the Igbos even for someone who considers themselves detribalised. And if you're being honest, you will agree with this. |
Fujiyama:And what is my true color? Pray tell sir. |
"Have you ever stood and stared at it, marvelled at its Beauty, its Genius? Billions of people just living out their lives.. Oblivious." -Agent Smith (he needs no introduction) #TheMatrix |
001Lotion:He has proven by this singular act that he carries the Igbo spirit. 1. He has desecrated the Yoruba gods and heritage. 2. He has displayed pride. Pride they say comes before fall. Unless these are not true monarchs. As much as a believer now believes and worships the one True God, he is still obligated to give honor to whom it is due- especially the established authorities. Jesus Christ and apostles could wipe out the Roman King and other leaders but they honored them. I believe this is meant to expose certain things concerning our human traditions and heritage as tribes. We need to Know that even our ethnic and tribal affiliations have to be subjected to the Word of God. You can't be tribalistic if you're a believer. Yet Obidients are tribalistic. Even those who were not tribalistic have been made to react tribalistically. God help and save us all. |
Rayban25:You clearly had a traumatic past and still experiencing a traumatic present. Better own up and seek help now before you have an even more traumatic future. Your triggers pass kalashnikov. |
KiNg0G:The most painful for me has to be Sauce Kid aka Sinzu. |
garriAndsugar:This table you're shaking will collapse on your head. Even Chimamanda as passionate as she is with PO knows better that even with their disagreement on the election, he has earned and deserves our honor. Your next line of comments will determine if you're wise or foolish though. The choice is yours. |
omolola100:Some disappointments are but blessings in disguise. |
Skyview01:This is great. My dad is a great man, very responsible and honorable man. He was however self-righteous and this affected his parenting and so much and created a gulf between us. By God's grace that is being settled and will end in testimony. He taught us religion instead of leading us to personal encounter with Christ. By God's grace I hope to lead my children to have a personal encounter with God and be filled with the Holy Spirit. This is my heartiest heart cry and so help me God. It is such a beautiful sight to see young kids and teens who have personal relationship with God. They excel in virtually all they do and know how God leads them through life. |
AmandaPrecious:Thanks for your candour. This is the challenge with logical and intelligent believers. I've been there. But it is the stage of growing your Spirit over your Mind. Your Mind needed to be subjected to the Word of God. That's what the Gift of Faith is. You were going through a transition process. It is a test that was meant to grow your faith in God. There was reason(s) you believed God. That was your justifiable reason. But you needed more reasons and more tangible reason as time and maturity necessitated. Can you remember what you wanted and if God has now met that need? |
AmandaPrecious:But you do agree with the fact that I don't have to agree with you right? An argument can some times be inconclusive. I suppose this falls under such category. Which was the position of the excerpt from the abstract of the article you referenced. Let's agree to disagree. If you're looking for verifiable facts, do a survey from mothers as I have done. Now I believe I have answered your questions to a good capacity. Surprised you evaded mine after accusing me of evasion. 1. Why did you stop believing in God? 2. Did you or your parents serve God at some point? |
Some times, I watch movies to learn a thing or two. And some times to unlearn. Here's my top 5 all time most inspiring movies and why; 1. The Matrix I can't thank the Wachowski brothers (now sisters) enough. This movie checks all the right boxes for me- Sci-fi, Action, Romance and more. And certainly helped me understand the idea of multi-verse better. 2. Acrimony This has to be my Tyler Perry's favorite. It's definitely one of my favorite tragi-comedies. The script is so puzzling and still gets men and women polarized. 3. Avengers It's difficult not to love Avengers franchise as a man. I mean growing up from wishing to have a hero and growing up to wanting to be a hero to your fam. It also helped to understand egos-clashing and how to manage a room full of talents. 4. Finding Forrester This is a great movie that helped me want to be a writer. Teaches how inspiration is not in too much thinking. Just let it flow. Besides, it features my second favorite James Bond- Sean Connery. 5. Paul, The Apostle This brings the books of Apostle Paul to life. As a believer, Passion of Christ is Great but this took it home for me. One of the few movies that made me weep. Feel free to share yours! |
Smile4mee01:The bane of this generation. You're lucky that you have come to this realization. Acknowledging and Identification of a problem is the primary step to the solution. While I won't advise you to quit it finally, I will suggest you take a long break. It has become an addiction and you have to fight it just like you would fight any other addiction. If not because my job necessitates the use of SM, I had planned to also take another long break. But I have developed some measure of control over it. Take a long break as long especially if your means of livelihood will not be drastically impaired. Long break could be 3 months to 1 year depending on when you realize you're not as interested in it any more. By the time you return you will likely have a more productive use of it. Cos like most things, it really is a Gift or a Curse, depending on your mastery and control over it. More important than taking the break is what fills your time during the break. You have to replace the time with a productive endeavor. That is up to you, but I will suggest you build yourself spiritually through knowing Christ personally. Other things begin to add up. God bless you. |
isan:He probably didn't. But certainly it's against his profession's ethics. His lack of self-control has cost him all the cost of his education plus possible jail time. Life is easier when you follow Divine order. |
SalamRushdie:How can Obidients be this disobedient? No be juju be dat? Cos bible talk am say rebellion is a sin as witchcraft. |
