Domestic violence comes with fines, and light sentences, attempted murder is a much heavier charge and comes with a heavier penalty, cos the curlpit is capable of murder. Leaving such person to roam freely on the street is very dangerous cos you're endangering the lives of the public. Therefore she should be jailed.

She'll fake a an emotional cry in court and request for the custody of her kids, leaving you broke, depressed and suicidal. As if that's not enough, you will be instructed by the court to send a specified amount of money monthly to her for the upkeep of kids you won't be allowed to see as often as you would have wanted.

You can't bring her family into the picture: She can become very insultive and abusive at a time you sincerely seek the affection a wife would easily provide. And since you didn't officially marry her you can't involve her family when problems begin to erupt. She'll make your life miserable, cheat openly, steal from you, destroy your valuables, lock you up with police...etc.

She can never be loyal: As crazy as you think marriage is, believe me there are great marriages out there. A baby mama can never play the role of a loving wife cos she owes you nothing. You'll keep feeling that empitness in you. She can never be faithful, cos she'll keep telling herself that after all you guys aren't married, so when financially loaded guys start showing up, she'll easily cheat cos nothing is binding you guys and even dump their kids on you. It's going to be a lose lose situation for you.

It will eventually wear off with time...don't worry yourself much. Just eat well (3 square meals) and drink lots of water. You'll begin to pass it out as sweat, urine and feces till it completely leaves your system.

Isn't she working, why can't she use her December salary and bonus to get herself those things on that list? What's the purpose of working if you can't use your income to take care of yourself? Or doesn't she have any plans on what to use her own personal money for?

Let's even assume that the guy grants her request, what does he get from her as a Christmas gift as well aside fornication, or aren't we qualified to receive gifts from girls?

Marriage in Igbo land depends on the family like you rightfully stated.

If you're marrying from a greedy family, it will take God's divine intervention for you not to loose your patience with them.

I've been to a wedding where the groom literally walked out cos of excessive billing he said he isn't doing again. Worse of it all was that his supposed in-laws were even mocking him telling him that he's not man enough to get married that what is he doing here.

It was the cries of his bride to be and her mum and some other direct female relatives that brought him back.

So my brother it just depends on the family and most especially if the girls father is still alive. Cos if her father is alive there are some nonsense he wouldn't tolerate cos he knows that any financial burden he places on you, his daughter would bear it as well.

But if it's all these useless uncles who don't even care about the girls welfare, they'll try to use her marriage as a route to escape poverty thereby billing you heartlessly.
