NOL2dworld:Abeg... with the kind of hunger in the land and abject callousness of our leaders, we should be thankful they got some job and not turned to kidnapping or rituals. |
I tried not to say anything in this matter, but for NANS to support the repression of protest... they too should not complain when DSS locks them up. "First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - Because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me." - Martin Niemöller TheGoodJoe:From 1999, we have an orderly way to change government. Not topple, but change. Every four years. Nigerians decided to elect, then re-elect PMB against better judgement. They didn't even show love to any of the third-party candidates. If youths had come together and cast their vote (not for PMB, not for Atiku), we might be saying a different thing. They refused, and now social media is full of online warriors. Unless we want to descend into anarchy, have to wait another 3.5 years, and hopefully make better choices. |
NOL2dworld:So the fact that they employ people is not adding value to the economy? |
Abeg free the guy. He was just collecting back his contituency project. Abi the senator bought those watches with legally earned money? ![]() |
A black man continues his shopping after picking up a toy gun bought at Walmart. Police shoot him instantly without even instructing him to drop his weapon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shooting_of_John_Crawford_III White man kills 20 people at Walmart and is taken into custody without a single shot fired by police. RIP to those who died, but I can only see the racial injustice ![]() For all the rhetoric about immigrants from sh1thole countries, Mexicans, Muslims etc, it turns out the real terrorists are caucasian men, and they've been given a license by their commander in chief. Their agenda: Make America White Again. |
BlackfireX:We're talking about the modern nomenclature of SS, SE, etc, and you bring in Eastern Region - whose first capital was Calabar (then Enugu, then Umuahia). If we're going to go by old nomenclature, we can go all the way back to when Benin City was in Western Region - whose capital was Ibadan, and use that to inform today's talk. However, in today's Nigeria, SE consists of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo - none of which have a coastline, for the purposes of this discussion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geopolitical_zones_of_Nigeria https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igboland

Concentrate on building a lasting marriage. A quiet ceremony with just parents and family would work just fine. |
BlackfireX:Er... from Wiki: (especially of a country) almost or entirely surrounded by land; having no coastline or seaport. Landlocked countries may have a river that they can use (usually through another country). Technically, you can't go from sea to SE without going through the Niger via SS. Same thing if Kogi wanted to be a country or region... the landlocked definition would still apply even though it touches the two main rivers. TundeBricklayer:It is, unless you're imagining that Rivers and Akwa Ibom are part of SE, or that having a river means you're not landlocked. You typically need a coastline or seaport to be considered non-landlocked, according to the definition. |
TOP NOTCH! Thanks OP for making this aerial view. |
Reference:I agree with your post, and I like your explanation: basically we're using the cheapest method and don't have much imagination. It's the same with some of our "state of the art" hospitals that look like private bungalows. |
bigpicture001:Build for the local conditions. Do you know how much that river swells in rainy season. If they use fewer pillars and the bridge fails, people will come back here complaining about bad engineering. |
If you search the news, there are several articles with more details: she unbuckled her belt, forced opened the door, and after a 5-minute struggle with passenger and pilot who tried to restrain her, exited the plane. The event is being ruled as suicide, with speculations about stress-related mental health.

mrvitalis:Abi now... what a jokester. Show me any of the solar streetlights still working after 6 months. And even when there's CCTV what will happen? Police will monitor it and only review the footage after the fact. They will not pre-empt attacks, provide assistance, or even use it to track the perpetrators. |
Quiet before the storm. BTW why are they rocking the flag of Palestine? |
I give that bike two weeks or less. Tire will burst (no money to replace), and sand will enter everywhere. Las las somebody will pieces it for parts, that is if it's not stolen. Good charity work, so one can't blame the donor for trying. |
sassysure:100% agree with you! Yes, there are exceptions and that's to be expected: US and Japan get hurricanes and typhoons and you see the rare case of flood. But they, like any developed country have managed to keep flooding to a minimum. In Nigeria every rainy season is an occasion for flooding in every city, daily, and you've outlined the causes. |
writefreely:Heh, you do have a knack for engaging comments ![]() |
This comical joke called Nigeria: since 1914 till now: take resources in the South, and develop the North, in the name of "promoting unity". Yet how many leaders from North has really tried to develop that region? If they were serious, it would have been a prosperous place, but instead of education and industries, they opt for oppression and religion. ![]() Normally, I'm a level headed person, so let me not say things I can't take back. |
Very good... the YouTube income won't last, so parlay that into real estate income. |
Fine gehs plenty for this world I tell you, and VK is looking scrumptious. Chai the one thing I will miss after death is looking and sampling some of nature's greatest gifts. ![]() |
People no dey get sense. They said be careful because a lot of ponmo is treated with chemicals and illegally diverted. People are there shouting "NO... I will eat it." Then they will complain about kidney failure and blame it on village people. ![]() |
It's not the turn of any region to do anything. Let all potential candidates come forth, convince their political parties, and convince the population. All this insistence that one part must produce this or that, and we the sheeple will be supporting them. Once they get in, they show they are united in looting and bad governance, no matter origin. It does not matter to the dying patient or the starving child what part the president is from. |
Noel1:When it's no longer called Nigeria. Haters, pls argue with your phone. |
My only fear is that if people associate the flop with Afro{beats/pop/house}, it will slow adoption and future collaborations. |
efemena5050:Er... the poster child for cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin) varied from $12,927 to $9,422 in the past month, and hit as low as $3,147 less than 6 months ago. Not to mention its peak at $19,650 early 2018. How's that for proof of volatility? Imagine if the dollar or yen varied so much. You can't have a currency jumping all over the place if it wants to replace more stable fiat currencies. If the most visible type of cryptocurrency is so unstable, how will the general public be convinced to trust cryptos? There is also lots of fragmentation (many different coins and exchanges with different values). Large financial institutions and companies (e.g. JPM Chase, Facebook) are issuing their own, defeating the very ethos of "decentralized", since it just means that large companies will own the very thing that's supposed to be ownerless. Trading in cryptos, like any other speculation, should be done by those who are fully aware of the risk. I can't in good faith advice somebody who's saving for their house, retirement, or children's education to put their money into crypto. It really has no inherent value, and since there's no government that pledges to defend it, it will continue to suffer from swings. There are those who make money from trading it, but that's little comfort to somebody who needs to be sure that the #4M they put in it last month will still be there at year's end.

I'm not a fan of fiat money issued by governments, and welcome the dominance of currency whose value is determined by decentralized agreement among peers. My only issue with cryptos is their instability. How can I hold money when I'm not sure how much bread it will buy from week to week? Forget the investing/speculating part. Just hold a coin, and what it can purchase fluctuates from day to day. Unless it becomes ultrastable it really has no chance of becoming a defacto currency. |
There's no such thing as PDP or APC. Only money and amnesty. I can't tell who is from what side of the carpet again with all their crisscrossing. It's funny they're poking fun at each other, - and we're supposed to take their jibes seriously. Meanwhile when it suits him, Ngige and co will decamp to the same party they are abusing, and we'll be here shouting "8 years of"... vs "4 years of"... Camp, decamp, recamp... that's the life of a Nigerian politician, |
blesskewe: Kingrexyl:Buhari also didn't relent... ![]() I'm just sayin'... Ijeleigbo:Very true... that was what I was thinking... a degree won't do him much good here, especially in the field of medicine, so it's likely he's looking for abroad opportunities.... another smart Nigerian leaving this sh1thole. He should leave as soon as possible before tragedy of herdsmen, stray bullet, okada, container falling, fake medicine, or falling live wire meets him. |
UNCONFIRMED... at least the topic has that. People are reacting to UNCONFIRMED speculation. Not confirmed reports. |
kernniejay:I would like to see this chap get prosecuted, but since this is Nigeria, as long as you're connected and in good favor with those in power nothing will happen to you, whether Indian, American, Chinese, or Nigerian. I suppose Senator Abbo was singled out for discipline, but notice he is a small boy, Christian, from Adamawa, of the opposition party. |
IK... why na? See correct nnunu. ![]() |
