Bluffly:Very true... it's like the entire country is turning into a bunch of touts. ![]() |
All because of a phone?! They burnt a whole human being to death, Just because of a phone that may be less than 30 euro? We don't really have a country anymore... things are degenerating daily. |
I wish we would have serious reporting in this country. All we have are the usual unintelligible shouts at stopped car, a commentator who's laughing, all without verification, a back story, or witness accounts. If it is indeed true, then he should face murder charges, and FGN should do the most they can - even within the bounds of "immunity". Unfortunately, in this land where cows have greater rights than humans (especially if said human is not Fulani), we should not be surprised if nothing happens. Also unfortunately - as happens in this country - we will have noise, threats of fire and brimstone, but sure enough within two weeks, nobody (apart from family) will remember the deceased. |
I praise the receiver... it requires a lot of strength and character to collect those slaps and not fight back. I feel sorry for the giver actually... she's done her worst, yet didn't really accomplish anything, but show how weak she is internally. |
I'm usually first to praise the captain, but there appears to have been some issues here. Caveat, I'm writing this from the comfort of my office on the ground, not in an airplane in turbulent air. 1 - bad weather and poor visibility were the cause of the hard landing. Captain should have aborted since the final approach wasn't stabilized and vertical velocity was too high. 2 - the hard landing caused the tire strut to break. The tire didn't burst, and there are pictures of it fully intact in the bushes. https://twitter.com/thecableng/status/1153710666236256256 3 - thankfully nobody was hurt, but the pilot should be sent for more training... there are pilots who have landed safely in worse conditions. 4 - Air Peace should write off this plane now. Hard landings have a way of causing mid-air accidents in later flights. Even if it flies well for 100, an accident can occur at the 101st that will be traced to this event. Lookup JAL 123, a fatal accident traced to an earlier hard landing 7 years earlier. 5 - international runway needs to be repaired ASAP, properly cleared of debris; and domestic runway should be extended and widened. |
Lawan said Amaechi, being a former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, was a lawmaker and thus should be protected from questioning. This is so wrong... Amaechi was, but is not currently a lawmaker. He is currently being screened to be (re)instated as a minister, and questions should be asked about his suitability and past performance. They can still speed-up his confirmation but at least let there be due process. I really tire for our leaders, doing the wrong things then wondering why other countries are much better than ours. |
Funmmyastic: Gforce2019: Skelewu:People insulting Mr. Eazi na wa for una oh. How many of you can hold a confam babe like Temi? You think it's easy to maintain a relationship with women in Nigeria these days, especially celebrities, especially if she has her own money? Most guys would have fscked up by now. The guy works hard, has not been shown to chase women, paves his own path, and is proving he does not need her wealth, unlike a few hungry Nigerian men I know ![]() I wish them continued happiness together. |
Rubicon67:He will need to show Immigration he is in Nigeria legally (after all he has UK passport without a visa in it, so how come)...? a current Nigerian passport will be easiest way to answer those questions without long stories. |
danberg:As others have said: travel with your UK passport, show Nigeria passport when prompted for visa. Flip things in Nigeria: show your Nigerian passport, then UK passport when prompted. However, please DO NOT use your expired Nigerian passport. Legally an expired passport is an invalid travel document. You might be able to get by, but if an official decides to use you as an example, you will soon discover that theory and practice are two different things. I'm not sure the advice that you need only your UK passport to depart is valid, because you need to show that you're in Nigeria legally (either as a citizen, or as a visitor). Don't get fuzzy with this because Immigration can be funny. |
You know what happens in ![]() Good job though... let's see if this fervor lasts after this rainy season |
krattoss:Unfortunately, we cannot. No country develops without taking full control of its power situation, and if we keep "buying development projects" from others, we will never get to that stage. Every few years there's a power deal to buy, but nothing about training and developing our workforce to maintain or to replace. They are buying power to solve yesterday's power crisis and so in 5-10 years we'll be buying equipment to solve today's power crisis. I've spent most of my 40 years dealing with epileptic power supply - learning how to pour fuel from jerrycan into generator from 7 years old. And I'm still doing so now. We haven't solved the issue of clean running water... nuclear is perhaps 50 years in the future, and even then it will be installed by foreign engineers. India just launched their own rocket to moon today - all indigenous parts, from the rocket engine to the computers to the radios. 5 years from now we'll still be launching pencil factories. SMH.
God bless our darling President Muhammadu Buhari and his AMIABLE Vice President PROF YEMI OSINBAJO as they take our country to a New and better place. Slow and steady we will get to the land flowing with milk and honey.
What milk and honey? How is this different from previous governments? From Ironsi on down, their sole accomplishment: enrich the West (and now China) by exchanging crude oil for foreign machines and ideas, while depriving youths of their own country from contributing meaningfully. No vision - and certainly no continuity - to ensure that we can make our own things within a definable period of time. I'm sure 10 years from now we will still applaud the government of the day for once again buying more machines using the money given to us in exchange for crude oil we don't even know how to extract. Sorry my tone is so bitter, but I'm realizing that I will never - in my life time - see anything to be proud of in this country. |
NiggasInParis:"With not a single lesson learned..." does that not imply that I, the reader, did not learn anything? There's nothing in the book most people can't intuit: decide to run a business, find a niche, be good at it, pour profits into it, and sweat the little details. There's no special sauce that makes his book stand-out among many other business books, and I found his back-patting off-putting. Yes, he is a successful business man (as are several hundred thousand in this country), and there're a lot of anecdotes about his process, but I still maintain that: "I've read it, with not a single lesson learned". |
Aidejay:Not necessarily. The scenario is: a small retailer bought 10-20 copies of the book from the publisher/distributer. Then they have many means of selling the book: in their own physical store, at an online marketplace, or even at car-park. |
Sigh... people, including Mr. Alabi don't seem to understand the concept of "online mall, with 10,000 vendors". To wit (from Wikipedia, which is also consistent with what I've read elsewhere): "Jumia is an e-commerce platform for electronics, fashion, and more. The platform consists of a marketplace, which connects sellers with consumers; a logistics service, which enables the shipment and delivery of packages from sellers to consumers; and a payment service, which facilitates transactions among participants active and Jumia's platform in selected markets." Which means any vendor who wants to sell their products on Jumia is able to without Jumia having to license or even have initial possession of such material in stock. They offer logistics to pick up from seller, then deliver. The same is true of Amazon and (was?) of Konga. Oh, and the book, I've read it. It was OK and mildly entertaining, but mostly self-aggrandizing, with not a single lesson learned. Since I know that the guy is smart, I'm sure he already knows, so I imagine this is a good way to invite traffic and free promotion for his book. |
FlutterDollar99:You can just send to your own bank account in home country... don't need to involve family at all. Ideally use it to buy treasuries or timed deposits so some bank employee doesn't start getting ideas. |
It's still there. You just have to move it/sell it, as long as the money and property are legally yours. Now, depending on the country (e.g. India), one might need to be a national to purchase property - if this was done under pretext, then the property is forfeit. |
Mikora:Na so na ![]() |
Why are people shocked? It happens in nature, and we've certainly seen it in humans (e.g. conjoined twins). Sometimes when a single egg splits, it doesn't split entirely, and the two soft pieces grow and eventually turn into two solid entities joined at some point. My people perish for lack of knowledge and would have attributed this natural phenomenon (albeit infrequent) to supernatural forces. |
Funny enough, using a fictional body of work to make logical arguments is actually fallacy. How can you argue that a fictional being is in control of a person who says those beings are fictional? If you can believe in angels, devils, God, and so on, please don't tell somebody else not to believe in Sango and Ogun, or in Ala and Amadioha. It wasn't too long ago that Christians were bloodthirsty with their fancy torture devices for anybody who doubted the validity of their beliefs. Islam is 700 years younger, and still in its fervent period. Once humanity goes through a few more hundred years of religious killings over imaginary beings, we might finally see the fading embers of religious beliefs. |
I hope people realize this is what industrialized countries do: each cow has a tag that identifies it, and in many cases is used to track birth details, lineage (parents), the farm it was born, etc, so that if anything happens with a product (even after it has turned to hamburger, bone meal, gelatin, or milk used to create yogurt), they can trace the problem to its origin. That's how they traced an outbreak of salmonella to a few dairy farms in one state. http://www.cidrap.umn.edu/news-perspective/2018/04/investigators-trace-2016-17-salmonella-outbreak-dairy-cows |
Very good point. I hope more Africans will open their eyes. |
AutoReportNG:I predict some people might start using mud or marker to cover their plates :-) |
Oh boy, that's like 2 months mortgage payment right there abroad. Or more than enough to do very solid foundation on a large duplex. |
GOFRONT:If you are flown first class into Lagos, and have a luxury car pick you up directly, and are put in luxury hotels, and go to luxury venues, you too would think everything in Nigeria is beautiful. When you are provided only the best food and services, and you hobnob only with the moneyed crowd, and you stay in some billionaire's tree-lined estate in Ikoyi, Lekki, or even VI, Nigeria is very very sweet, so I can imagine that's her perception since that's all she was exposed to. |
And in spite of so many positions being occupied by Fulani, the country is going down the tubes. It would be a different matter if one was seeing visible improvement. Well, hopefully there's still a country in a few years |
Which kind of cheap motherfscker puts only N10 inside charm? The gods won't accept anything less than N20k in this Buhari era ![]() |
LLMG:Before you flame me, consider that we live in a country where the news is often sensationalized, unverified, and subsequently countered. What I'm saying is we have had armed robbers disguised as several other things in recent past, and people claiming things that aren't true. In the context of the current anti-Fulani hysteria (up to and including a pastor claiming Fulani agenda on passports), it makes sense to pause and let the investigations conclude... though this is Nigeria and nobody has time to do things properly. I'm not saying herdsmen don't kill or kidnap - or that they didn't kill this woman, but you have to wonder in the context of news like: https://www.nairaland.com/5240884/pastor-adewuyi-adegoke-kidnaps-self The case was originally blamed on herdsmen. https://www.nairaland.com/4334463/fake-picture-trending-whatsapp-fulani Original picture was from an unfortunate robbery in 2010, yet used to fan the flames of blame on Fulani in 2018 https://www.nairaland.com/4336034/not-attacked-fulani-herdsmen-god https://www.nairaland.com/4327827/how-edo-pdp-made-me GIG motors says a claim they were attacked by herdsmen was false And please see this to strengthen your skepticism: https://www.nairaland.com/4591520/fake-news-nigerias-herder-crisis Oh, I'm from Asaba, in case it gives you any guidance on how to process my posts. |
VisioDirect:Please let's stop the division talk. It's not as if Biafra won't have kidnappers, fake food & drugs, or armed robbers. Or Oduduwa won't have specialists in skull mining, money ritual, or organized fraud. There's no single part of this country that is secure and 100% safe. There's no single section that doesn't have its criminal elements. We've seen armed robbers dressed as police, SARS, soldiers, mechanics, sexy women, pastors, NEPA officials, and now as herdsmen. Who knows what the real identity of these latest killers are, but as usual our law enforcement is reactive and never investigative, so all we have are speculations. |
FearGodinall:Yet, like I always say, Nigerians voted for him. Twice. At some point you have to stop abusing Buhari and look at the process and the thinking that got him there. |
emeijeh:You need a minimum height for the 'chute to fully deploy and catch air to slow you down. As the plane crashed shortly after takeoff... AkeNathan:The plane was falling faster than anybody could survive. Imagine someone falling from 5th floor... velocity by the time they hit the ground would kill them. No matter how you jump "at the last moment", it won't really change your downward speed. |
Racoon:Where in the news did you see Fulani? Everywhere people are saying: "Fulani this", "Fulani that"... The news clearly stated armed robbers/kidnapper, and without any shred of evidence, people start throwing Fulani into the mix. |
