Am one of those that fervently believe that there are better ways of dealing with one"s woman (be it a wife or just ordinary  grin  girl friend) assaulting her is not one of them except as an act of self defense  grin. therefore the act by the Deji should not be condoned. The woman too should not be spared.

Now, on the other hand, one would one would want to think, what could have made the Deji, an oba for that matter, descended so low? hmm! i hold that a good and virtuous woman would or should always at all times bring out the best in man. Going by that, the woman is a "terrible" woman! and a bad influence on the Oba!

long time ago when i was a kid, i learnt early when there is an altercation between a woman and the man, and the woman is  terribly wrong in the  matter that resulted to the altercation, and the man as a result raise his hand against her,the man automatically becomes the wrong party, this used to piss me off! and it still does as far as this Deji's case is concerned.Nobody seems to be looking at what the woman might have done to draw such violent reaction from the Oba, hence you see the women folks rising in support of their kind not minding to ask her "ore what did u to him? u cheated? slept with his friends or defrauded using his name as a bait ? but nobody gives a damn! The Oba has many wives, i know an oba is entitle to an household of wives, how come he just woked up one day and my office as an oba be damned, and assaulted her?

If am to adjudicate in the matter i would not spared one party and leave the matter!

my take.
I have read all your posts so far and find no sense in them!

How can you justify a man beating his wife at all not to talk in PUBLIC? Which means you can do the same and give useless excuses. This act alone shows he has no self control and not capable of ruling a town. If he is invited into a family dispute what will be his advise? Wont he order the man to beat his wife too?

Where comes his leadership when he can give reasons for beating his wife? Anyway, thank God he has been removed and arrested and the installation of another Deji of Akure is underway, lesson for others.

KAYD007, you need to grow!

He is lying against the woman to justify his action but whatever the case may be, is he supposed to be caught beating his wife even in the hidden less public fight? Thank God for the angry mob who beat him, remove his cap and destroyed his jeep.

If he, seen as the leader of the town do this, how then does he advise another man from beating his wife.

You are right but from the story, this isnt there first time of eating the meal and if the ewedu is the prob, why didnt it affect the entire family of 16?
FoodFamily Loses Five Kids After Amala by oludashmi(op): 9:32am On May 19, 2010
Residents of Ayegunle-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State were shocked yesterday when five children of a family died after eating a cassava meal popularly known as Lafun.

The father of the deceased children, Mr. Kayode Ogunlusi, who regained consciousness after medical attention, told reporters in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, that his family of 16 ate the food with ewedu soup on Sunday night.

He said shortly after eating the food, the children’s stomachs started rumbling.

The family is made up of the father, two wives and 12 children.

The wives’ names are Peju and Abigail.

The senior wife, Peju, who is expecting her eighth child, lost five children.

The names of the dead children are Iyabo, Rotimi, Pelumi, Abigail and Ade.

Also affected is Ogunlusi’s nephew, who is in critical condition in the hospital.

A dog, which ate out of the food, also died.

Peju was said to have prepared the ewedu soup.

Iyabo, the first child of the family, prepared the Lafun.

A source, who pleaded for anonymity, said residents were shocked when the children started vomiting and complaining of stomach trouble.

He said three children were first rushed to the General Hospital in Ijero-Ekiti, but were transferred to the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, where they died.

The remaining two children died yesterday morning.

Ogunlusi, who spoke at the accident and emergency ward of the hospital, said it was Peju who first complained of stomach cramps after which she vomited.

The children, he said, were rushed to the hospital one after the other.

Ogunlusi said: "The ewedu soup was prepared by Peju, who is my first wife. The lafun was prepared by Iyabo around 8pm.

"We all ate, but about 4am the following day, Peju started vomiting.

"After we took care of her at about 10am, Iyabo too complained of stomach ache. I took her to a private hospital, but she was not responding. Within a short period, she and her mother could not talk again. I, therefore, rushed them to the general hospital."

When contacted on her hospital bed, Peju was shocked to learn that Iyabo was dead.

She was yet to learn that four other children have also died as the news was kept away from her at press time.

Abigail, the junior wife, was also receiving treatment at the hospital.

Head of the emergency unit of the hospital, Dr Olusoji Abidemi, said the cause of the incident might be food poisoning.

He said: "The cassava might not be properly processed and when food, especially cassava, is not properly prepared, it could be poisonous."

Abidemi urged the people to always process food properly before eating.

He said Iyabo was brought dead to the hospital.

The remaining children, according to him, died yesterday morning.

This is very pathetic. May God comfort the mother especially as she is yet to know she has lost five children. But how did it affect 5 out of the 16 who ate the food?

Joagbaje:
babaearly,

Sin does not have effect on our our spirit. The bible call them works of the FLESH.

Galatians 5:19
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Sin can be difined as Dominion of the flesh or dominion of the senses. A man That is still battling with sin has not come to full comprehension of his nature . He is a babe or carnal . God wants us to grow into perfection. A carnal christian is born again but he still finds himself yield to fleshly desires. Even though God has made provision to forgive him for any mess, He needs to grow out of that level. by walking in the spirit.

Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

But if he finds himself in a mess, he is still  the son of God in a mess period!. He should just get out of it.and God wipes him clean. He is not a sinner.

No child of God wants to sin. Every child of God wants to please God.If a Christian falls into a mistake, dont rejoice over him. help restore him rather. If you become too judgemental over a fault of another Christian, one day you will fall into a bigger mess.Your lack of mercy will boomerang.

Galatians 6:1
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Keep on sinning and growing in the spirit, You hear? Infact back every sin up with a bible verse.
What if the Christian sinner does not realise the sin committed or he just overlooked it? What if he did not ask for forgiveness and death captures him, is he not going to be regarded as a sinner at judgement? A Christian sinner remains with his spots if he does not go back to God.

It is not as if I am righteous, capital NO, but the truth is that I know when I commit sin and I like to quickly settle with my God. I cant say because I still commit sin knowingly or unknowingly now justify committing sin as a born-again, God forbid!

Anyway, with all I have said from the first page, I rest my case on this issue. He that has ear let him hear. No matter how long we talk, those who will agree will and those who wont will not. Infact if Jesus comes down today and give heaven for free, majority will still deliberately refuse it.

sonofpeace, you are welcome

Committing a sin doesn't make a Christian a sinner. .I bellieve thats the discourse.
Thats what man gets when he seeks his own righteousness. . no wonder God spoke thru Isaiah that this righteousness by the law is as filthy rag. But Thru Christ, we have been introduced to another righteousness which is by faith and its an inherent gift to anyone in Christ. Man can not help himself, if he could, there wouldn't have been a need for Jesus to show up on earth to die in our stead. We were helpless but thank God He sent us help. Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. God step on mount sinai and it was called a Holy mount. The area of the burning bush was called Holy because God showed up there. The bush did not fast the mount did not pray, all Abraham had to do was to believe in God who calls those things that be not as tho they were. There are no middle grounds, either u are righteous or not. .no 90% holiness or righteousness.
lysaa, pls read my posts on pages 1 and 2.

You were referring to David in one of your posts of how he committed sins and God still called him a man after his heart abi? Good!! It is easy to mention people like David and Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, infact it is easier to mention people like Jesus when he was on earth BUT can you pay 1% of the prices they pay?

Have you ever danced like David in the street such that people thought you were insane? Have you ever sacrificed like David did unto God (infact you cant) with all you have (maybe your entire salary for months to the poor or orphanage)? Have you ever tried sacrificing your baby or one of your brothers for God before? Have you ever declared  fasting for weeks all because of thanksgiving? Have you ever prayed like Jesus did such that the sweat that came out of you was like blood even on the ground? Have you ever been thrown into a boiling oil all because of Jesus before? Have you ever been persecuted in your family and home town before all because of what you stand for? Have you ever heed to God's command like Moses did and was highly used for the Isrealites/Nigeria (Moses is the meekest man on earth)? Infact the questions from the lives of David, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Jesus, Paul etc is unending.

Yet you call their names and their rewards as if it is popcorn and groundnut. you relate with their likes as if it is a childs play. Better study your bible and see it the way it is meant to mean not the way you want it to mean.

Image123:
If the christian has the nature of God(righteousness), then it's logic that he should be sinLESS. God does not sin once in a while. The purpose Jesus came was to save us from sin, not to make us free to sin.
Is it possible to be a carbon copy of your dad in total appearance but people still call you a naughty person because of your character?

Well dear your answer is not biblical. Considering the parable of the Ten Virgins. The 5 lost out of the feast becoz of the were not prepare jst like a half washed dish is still unprepared to be used. Such preaching from pastors like C.O are the reason why many christians today live with sins, becoz they believe once saved  is saved forever even though they keep leaving in sin and call it a mistake. We are aware there are sins of omissions but you find out that this christians are really living in a sin of commission. The person you see as a well known sinner might repent today, sudenly die tml and will make it to heaven jst like the theif by his right hand. The so called born again christian can sin today and die tml but face the everlasting damantion jst like Judas did.

So sister, What matter is not what you were or what you have been, but what you are at the time you are being called back home.

My brother God has given us his word upon which the  gospel should be based. So i dont need God to come down again to tell me what is is right or wrong.

You still don't get my question. My question was: What are the difference btw a Prodigal son(as all have sinned) and a former Prodigal son that was forgiven but he later sinned/trespassed against his father? Are the two not the same in sight of their father? What makes the forgiven son more righteous than the Prodigal son?
Oh sorry! now I understand.

It is the case of two used plates, both dirty. One was washed but a traces of oil now found on it and the other not washed at all, dirty in and out. The two plates are dirty before the owner BUT the one that was formerly washed could need only a tissue to wipe off the small oil or just clean with a finger tip and then dip it in a clean water and it becomes new again.

But the dirty and unwashed plate needs more than that, 1. its needs to be seen a an eyesore to the kitchen, 2. a confession that the plate is dirty and needs to be washed, 3. it needs the soap, 4. sponge, 5. clean water, 6. an handkerchief. Such is the relationship between a sinner who is yet to repent and that who has repented but found himself in sin.

The forgiven son is more righteous than the unforgiven son because he has confessed his sins, his pasts are forgotten and he now has a new nature like a newly born baby who is yet to commit sins but the unforgiven has a long way to go because he still lives like he doesnt exist in the sight of God not to talk of been renewed. The righteous will easily ask for true forgiveness and God forgives him because of the nature he wears, the true confession he once made at the cross and the blood upon him signifies he was once chosen.

Now if a visitor comes into the house unexpectedly and needs to be served, and the oil on the clean plate has not been washed, the host/owner of the kitchen wont be able to serve him with either the unwashed plate or the clean but stained plate, he will push them both aside because they are no good for his visitor.

Means, if as at the time Jesus comes, the Christian sinner has not confessed and asked for forgiveness and also forgive his offenders, sorry ooo, he is in no way better than the ever unrepentant sinner. They will be pushed in the same place cos they are no good for the visitor.

I hope I tried to answer you?

I commend your illustration, it was really splendid but i guess you missed the answer to your illustration. If a man's son could disobey him without any remorse or rependance the son automatically disowed himself from his father. From what i know about the creation of man everybody were created/made by one person(Almighty God) but according to Romans 3:23 all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. And if that is true, what is the difference btw the prodigal son(unbeliever) and the forgiven prodigal (that disobeyed his father)? Mind you both of them were of the same father.
Thanks.

The difference btw the prodigal son (unbeliever) and the forgiven prodigal son (that once disobeyed his father), is that one felt remorseful and guilty then returned to the father while the other never felt he did anything wrong or may even know he is doing something wrong but thinks, oh! daddy understands I cant help but continue being a bad child to him. Not knowing that daddy will never understand anything for him but daddy will strictly take him for what he can see him doing.

For if a child was able to stop his bad character, nothing stops the second from taking the same decision

The BIBLE says, ''the soul that sinneth shall die''. ''the wages of sin is death''. Some of these pastors are only trying to reframe the word of God in other to suit their congregation, remember that God can't be mocked.

For God's sake, how can a man of God say such a ridiculous statement. So even a man in the faith caught sleeping with another man's wife is not a sinner, God! help us in this end time.

Good talk!
Some so-called pastors will still tell you that a Christian caught sleeping with a lady not his wife is still a Christian and they will even back it up with a verse that suits their mission.

Beware of the end time which is now, cos 99% of pastors now tell people what they want to hear not the truth cos the people wont stay should they say the truth. That is why the bible is made available for all so that you wont have your pastor as an excuse before God and you can ask the Holy Spirit for interpretation if you are confused instead of meeting people who will compound your prob.

I am not surprised that Christians have a verse to back-up every sin they want to hide under and make themselves self-righteous. Afterall, a pastor once said few Christians will make heaven using the bible and majority will make hell using the same bible. Everyone is free to twist it to his own satisfaction.

You did not read verse 4 of 1John 2, Once one compromises Gods standard and principles that person is automatically a sinner but maybe not condemn unto death(1John 5:17) and know ye therefore that the sin unto death are sins against the holy spirit (which leds to retrobate spirit) while the sin not unto death are sins committed but not against the holy spirit(which can be forgiven if the person in question ask God for forgiveness while on earth) but can lead one into eternal death(Romans 8:13). I have this question for you, What if that your so called believer-sinner did not ask for forgiveness, what will be his fate if he eventually die?
Good question!

Take a look at this scenario, you have a father who gives you all you want and has promised to will his entire property to you IF you continue to be an obedient child. But suddenly, you were led astray by friends and started misbehaving, he called on you to dismember yourself from the bad group but you were reluctant to do so, this brought a communication gap between you and him and you never settled that with him till his death.

Even though you have his genes in you which makes him your biological father, do you expect to have his property? NO!! Because having his property is with a clause or a condition, IF. Or will you say a Christian who died while fighting on the street will make heaven? He will be judged by his last doing even though his beginning was good, how about his end?

Many Christians will end up in the unexpected cos of a rift they never settled with God while on earth even though they might be prophesying and speaking in different tongues but have forgotten that the unforgiven sin remains uncleansed.

In a nutshell, a Christian who sins is still a Christian but with a stain on his white robe which will fish him out and prevent him from dining with the stainless at the occasion.

RomanceRe: Do Nigerians Always Marry Each Other? by oludashmi(f): 11:17am On Apr 28, 2010
marabout:
My sister,  like many have already mentioned, one cannot generalise. What is sure is that it takes some effort to live with someone from a different culture in addition to the efforts that a relationship/marriage requires irrespective of who you marry.  You have to ask yourself if you want to make such extra effort. If you do, wonderful.

It is a bit like a Nigerian going to study in China. You have to first learn Chinese before you can start the studies proper. I have dated ladies of various nationalities. Prejudice and racism in most of their families was horrendous.

There was one funny case where I took a caucasion ex-girlfriend on holiday to several European countries. We returned to London and she phoned her mother in "Middle England" telling her how much she enjoyed Europe and how wonderfully I showed her round several European cities. She was very careful not to reveal to her mother that I am black person for fear that she might have a heart attack! All that on the eve of the millenium.  When the relationship ended, that was it. No more foreigners.

Believe me, despite our modern individualism, we still do need the support of our friends and families in marriage, especially when sometimes the couple have difficulties.

When I was younger, I was rather idealistic and naive, preaching that race, culture and skin colour don't matter. In an ideal world, it shouldn't matter. But the world is not ideal.

It becomes more difficult with time when the man wants to go back home for good and become an elder. If he's from an aristocratic family, chances are he will have to return home when his father dies especially if he's the senior son. The foreign lady may decide that she doesn't want to go.

This is not to discourage anyone but just speaking from my own experience. It works for some, it doesn't work for some. My parents were never against marrying a foreigner but I decided against it after my experience. Going by the experience of those around me over the years, the success rate is quite low. Well experience is the teacher. No venture, no success. Bonne Chance!
Well said!!

Like they say, 'blood is thicker than water', your background or culture will always be you no matter where you go. Some Nigerians still marry foreigners but the chances of a lasting marriage is LOW.

I lost N40000 to Diamond bank Plc at the HQ in Adeola Hopewell, after 3 months of come back, we are still investigating, all sort of story and arrogance in its highest you can't imagine, I stopped going. NOTE that I used a Diamond Bank card and at the HQ which shouldnt have taken more than 48hrs.

I tried withdrawing N40000 but the machine didn't dispense, then called on the security to explain and he advised that I insert my card to see if I had been debited which I did confirmed that I had been debited. He advised that I should insert a number of time and I did 2 more times before he said I should go into the banking hall and complain.

There, I was told it will be reversed within 24 hrs, and I went to the machine again to check if the money could come but not. I kept going, It went on and on till I met the Regional Manager (East) Alex Chichi Alozie - the most arrogant, carefree, rude, and non-challant banker the world has ever produced. He was worse than his staff - each time I go there, he keeps me for at least 3 hrs waiting without showing face. I have since then disliked the bank and can never do anything with it again. Funny enough, several other pple were making the same set of complains all ended up leaving the money with the bank.

Too many pple are complaining of Diamond Bank this days, even recently about their internal way of frauding customers via ATM so BEWARE
BusinessRe: Gtbank: The Most Trusted Bank? by oludashmi(f): 3:20pm On Mar 22, 2010
And for those who says it is diamond bank, I used to say that too until they robbed me at the HQ in Adeola hopewell, they have no customer relations starting from their East Regional Manager Alex Chichi Alozie to every other staff that were trying to cover the fraud committed by the ATM controlling department (they call them the banking police). No courtesy, no manner and very arrogant!!

Keep your money with diamond bank for 3 years and if no fraud is committed at all I can assure you that no kobo will be added to it, which is the no 1 fraud. So many pple have complained of this and their ATM internal fraud. The truth is that these new generation banks are only good for business transaction NOT for heavy account deposit or holding.

So, don't just try to exonerate any bank cos once you fall into their hands, you will be more than disappointed.

For all those mentioning GTBank as the best bank makes me laugh. GTBank holds the highest customer account balance fraud in Nigeria (says Lawyers because most customers seeks advice after being robbed by the same bank).

their staff have committed the highest number of electronic bank robbery in Nigeria and did u notice that they are the only bank who charge customers extra penalty for withdrawing N60k and below in their banking hall (which is totally illegal)? that is because they wanted you to keep withdrawing through ATM so that they can continue stealing your money and lying that your money got missing when you did your last ATM transaction.

they know you can't sue them because the money to be spent charging them to court will be much more than the money missing in your account. see? they are full of scam shits! its better you bank with other banks because all these guys wants is your money. that is why they did enough to make depositing so easy but withdrawing very difficult. pls do not fall to their scam trick just because you deposited quickly. one of their staff was caught recently transferring a customer's acct details into his custom made ATM card. pls be careful of GTBank! most customers are moving their money out of that bank cos they are too full of money controversies

Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Christians Celebrate Birthdays? by oludashmi(f): 11:37am On Aug 25, 2009
@ Abuzola,

Which school did you attend and who were your teachers especially your English teacher (if you ever attended one)? All your replies are not annoying but irritating.

How can you say Christianity is different from Christian?

Dude, christian = christlike, or are you a pagan ? Mr poster said birthday is the practice of the pagan so why later on christians adopting it and even implying it on jesus, christmas
Also, from your statement in quote above, it shows you are just "Mr Poster's" follower, you dont know what you are typing at all.

Secondly, do you celebrate your birthday? If yes, why or did Mohammed said you 'Abozola' should celebrate his birthday?

darqly:
@ Abuzola and your pseudonym freelinks- That you have an opinion doesn't mean its a FACT. Why do you feel the need to force your beliefs down EVERYONE's throat? Why do christians celebrate their birthdays? the question should have been why do PEOPLE celebrate their birthdays because the last time i checked PAGANS, MUSLIMS, JEWS, CHRISTIANS, ATHEISTS, THE WHOLE SHEBANG celebrate their birthdays angry

Lest I forget, aren't you in your period of fast? Don't be expending your meagre energy levels online.

Bi Salaam grin
Dont mind the guy and his master 'the poster'.

What meagre energy does he have? Is he even fasting at all and if he is, is he missing more than lunch?
Christianity EtcRe: Why Do Christians Celebrate Birthdays? by oludashmi(f): 3:44pm On Aug 24, 2009
Comingo:
Is birthday keeping a good thing in Christianity? did Christ tell us to celebrate our "date of birth" and his also?

lets look at the Birthday occurences in the Bible and how they turned out.

The first account is in Genesis. Pharaoh, the Egyptian king, celebrated his birthday by executing his chief baker (Gen. 40:1-23). God gave Joseph special understanding of a dream by Pharaoh’s butler and baker, that the baker would lose his life three days after Joseph interpreted the dream. Joseph understood that Pharaoh would use this occasion—his own birthday party—to put his baker to death. As the dream had foretold, the baker was hung at the party.

In the second account, the New Testament figure Herod the tetrarch reluctantly ordered the beheading of John the Baptist (Matt. 14:3-11). Notice verse six: “But when Herod’s birthday was kept…” During the dancing and merry-making at his birthday party, Herod got carried away and eventually made a promise that he did not want to keep. As a result, a great servant of God lost his life.

so really what do Christians mean when they celebrate birthdays?
It is not a matter of religion but the fact that you thank God for adding another year to your life.

At the same time, if 2 or more people did something wrong on their birthdays according to the bible, does that mean you should not celebrate your birthday or does it mean you too should do likewise on your birthday?

You are asking where Jesus commanded us to celebrate birthday and I will like you to note where Jesus commanded us not to celebrate it. If someone dies of a motor accident, does that mean we should all not board a vehicle again or if someone dies as a result of collapse building, does that mean we should not leave in buildings any longer?

Nothing concerns God with your birthday, the most important thing is that the name of God is glorified any day any time and even on your birthday.

My dear, you are still very young and have plentiful of time ahead of you. I don't know you nor the guy but I can a sure you that both of you are lusting after each other due to the familiarity and closeness you shared while at home.

If you give him a chance, mark today's date, you will regret it cos he will eventually tell you that you are related and can't go further but that is not until he has had his goal on you. This of cos will make you hate him most in the world but it will be too late.

Also, be careful, cos chatting with someone and typing emotional words are not always real, that is why many white guyz fall prey of yahoo boys thinking they really want them and when the yahoo boys have reached their goal, they turn them off and take another person.

One million and one nice, caring and lovely friend-husband are waiting ahead of you. Have a nice day and face your studies.

I will keep it as simple as possible but UNIQUE. Society wedding does not guarantee lasting union and it doesn't trick me anyway. I will prefer to use my money to expand my business.

That is why I am thinking of (not concluded) registry to reception cos if it happens to be church wedding, it will be bigger than my expectation cos of our (I and my partner) church audiences, family members and friends.
