bawomolo:
see shakara of the century. Your grandma with her 20 kids didn't need any housemaid grin
That was her choice and this is my choice. My grandmother's choice to let her husband marry a second wife and treat her like a second class citizen sent her to an early grave.
Family › Re: Coping With A Pushy Neighbour by Outstrip(f): 6:35pm On Oct 28, 2009
I understand the need to be gentle with her but get the hell out of town. Why is she walking into your bedroom and asking to take your baby out of the house. My mother does not even walk into my bedroom and even when she does when my husband is at work she would usually knock and is never there when I am not. If the woman cannot understand then it is too bad. As for your child be careful. Children have gone missing this way. I can tell you stories upon stories. If she is this emotionally attached to your family then she might start wishing that it were hers. I am not saying sh eis bad but she is too attached for you not to be firm.

Why would I do that? Oh because he does housework. Whatever. We both run our home. I still carry most of the house work but technically he pays most of the bills. I have no problem with that but I will never put myself in a situation where I feel like I am a single mother. If I wanted to do it all on my own then I could have stayed single and had children and raise them on my own in my own house. I am not chained to my husband and he is not chained to me. He has learned to be strong were I am weak and I have learned to be strong where he is weak. There is no jumping going on here

All of you saying the woman should go half on the household forget that she is married to the typical Nigerian man. If she says here that the man does housework and changes diapers and every once in a while goes to the market then I can say that it is fair. If the man wants to do Oga then he must do what comes with doing Oga. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. You can't eat your cake and have it. I personally will not put one penny towards anything if the man does not help me maintain the home. He will pay for the everything including a maid if I decide I need one. It does not matter how much she makes. Now this is just my two cent. My home is different. I don't care what he pays for in the home he has to help out too. Luckily for the most part I do not have to do any of that. It is not unusual for my husband to come home from work and actually cook dinner.

She has a baby. 15,000.00 ke? How much does he make because the baby alone will need more than half of that for the month. If the man makes enough money I will suggest you cook his soup without salt and any meat and then tell him you ran out of money before you could buy the salt or meat

I know a lot of females that have gay male friends and even is a few cases their best friends are gay men. So I don't know why that is being used to 'prove' her gayness or lack thereof. I think Missy is gay. What's her face (the girl that used to date Bill Maher and claimed she slept with half of hollywood) says that she and Missy had sex.

You need to keep him away from the children until he is ready to help himself. Does someone have to tell you this? He needs to leave that house until he comes to his senses. Alchohol is not an excuse for his behavior.
Family › Re: URGENT!!!Help Regarding Her Deceased Dad's Properties by Outstrip(f): 10:55pm On Oct 26, 2009
Was he sick and his wife was not even around to care for him or did he just die unexpectedly. You need to be quick and wise. It is sad that you have to deal with this instead of mourning your dad. No matter what you do you need to let them know that you are just as entitled to whatever your father had as his son. You will have to pay for school fees and you can't let them steal that from you

I think it is rude. The best she can do is have friends hang around and watch if it is someone that she met for example online. If she just has to have a friend she needs to let the guy know
Family › Re: Who Knows Better, the Mother Or The Wife by Outstrip(f): 2:13am On Oct 26, 2009
There is no reason why a mother should know her son even more than a girlfriend. If he is a boy under 16 then yes otherwise most mothers have no clue. By the time most women marry a man they already know more than the mother may ever know. If the mother knows as much as the wife then the wife is in trouble because that man will be hard to respect when mommy is so involved
Family › Re: Family Issues by Outstrip(f): 11:46pm On Oct 23, 2009
I don't know but maybe I will start a thread on this and try to see if I can finally understand why a lot of African parents are just so overbearing. No matter how I try to understand them. My parents included. A childhood friend of mine is going through a thing now and I was talking to my mom about it. His first marriage to a girl from Nigeria did not work and his family pretty much set the whole thing up. He is not considering marrying another one from NIgeria again and I am so irritated but my own mother is like what is the big deal. Why can't older family choose for him. My parents honestly feel like they have the right to ultimately decide who marries who. Unfortunately for them they have 5 kids and every single one of us is head strong. I will never forget the pressure they put on my sister and her husband and how stressful it was for them. My parents did not even show up for the wedding and they were only 15 minutes away. It was a big happy wedding and everybody knew about it because my sister and her husband waited 2 years for them to come around. I cried that whole day. I gave my parents a piece of my mind. I know they were dissappointed that we all stood behind my sister and her husband but I felt they needed to learn a lesson. So for my mom to even say that parents should be allowed to choose pissed me off. It's like "Mom did you even learn anything from the past". My sister and her husband have a wonderful marriage. My mother just came back to the states to spend 6 months and were is she staying? With my sister and husband. Her husband won't have it any other way. He treats my mother like he does not even treat his own mom. His mother calls my mom when she is in Nigeria all the time. Just a wonderful family and if we(the kids and even a few of my parents friends) had not made a stand my sister would have missed out on a wonderful man.

Igarra. I guess you have to show her that you are different and that an igbo man will not guarantee that her daughter will have a happy marriage.

Family › Re: Has Your Mom Ever Embarrassed You In Front Of Your Friends? by Outstrip(f): 6:50pm On Oct 21, 2009
My mom would have done any of those things. The funny thing is that they did not think it was embarrassing most times. Maybe this is why we tend to be tougher skinned than oyibos. The yabbis alone from your own parents will be worse than any you could get in school.

I had a similar story too with taking off my clothes. I had chicken pox and I discovered it while I was at church. When we got home my mom went and got calamine lotion and we had people from church at our house. She wanted me to take off my clothes in front of everybody so she could put it on me. I not only had breasts at the time I even had pubic hair. I was looking at her like WTF and all the oversabi church members felt it was their place to make comments like "outstrip of yesterday" or "outstrip of 1978 hahahaha". I still did not take off my clothes. She had to come in the bedroom to do it

Your husband has waited 2 monthshuh? He tried o. My husband was breathing down my neck at 5 weeks 6 days and 23 hrs. He practically had an alarm set. Now that he has waited 2 months I hope he will not think it is war and attack it. He will have to be gentle for a while. LOL.

Don't you think it should be the other way? When you are in someones house you obey their rules and it does not matter how old you are. It's just good manners
Romance › Re: Since I Met Her, I 've Been Having Bad Luck by Outstrip(f): 3:20pm On Oct 21, 2009
You can never be a man until you learn to take responsibility. The number of threads lately about a woman being responsible for a man's failure is just crazy. It should even make you feel stupid to even think like that. How many times have you had a woman down on her luck blaming the man she is in a relationship with for being a spirit or having bad luck. They just keep keeping on and learning from their mistakes. The men just come up here and waaah waaaaaaaaah waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah like a baby then turn around and demand respect.
