So the oranges and water is what is giving you a serious wedgie. I don't care if they were selling used condoms. They were under the protection of their parents. Empty barrell. Who cares if I have been in the US for 150 years. It is a choice. A CHOICE. I am a citizen of the god damn  world. If you don't like it then hug a flipping transformer. There is such a thing as an inferior human being and you are the poster child.

I see children in brooklyn, new york during the summer helping their parents selling cold water and oranges, It wasn't child abuse cos it happened in the western world but we cry foul when we see it in naija, We should stop being a western world lamination.
Are you serious? You are comparing a lemonade stand or children with their parents with this. This is the problem with Nigerians. Who do you think you are harming by lying to yourself. Who will fail if you choose to accept that your bad behavior is not acceptable. Do you think it will pull the wool over the eyes of people or do you think it will improve your sense of self to lie shamelessly to yourself. Please in your life strive for the best. Don't make excuses for people being useless and being a failure. It does not help anyone. Haba. Why should children make a living for their parents. Babies for that matter. Do you see their parents walking by their side and even if the parents are right there they should carry that tray on their own head. Good Lawd. I tire

Okay let's be optimistic. Can somebody name one city in Nigeria that is nice to live in. We can rule out Lagos, Ibadan, Benin City. Any city at all. I need some reassurance this morning

Many reasons. She could have been raised in a home where that was the norm. She could have been abused as a child and has no sense of self worth.

Their parents should be locked it cages like animals. In that country were ritual killings in style. What easy access for all kinds of evil people. Those children have probably seen more trauma than a 30 year old in other countries. Useless parents. Why is her father not hawking the moinmoin.

At the risk of sounding "uncool" I don't get why you have to write like this. Replacing "BUT" with "BUH". Why? It's a three letter word anyway why not just type the actual word. What is the point. I don't want to sound mean but it makes someone look like they are not serious. I am sure you are a nice person but no one over the age of 21 should be narrating a story and write that way. Just had to get it off my chest  grin

He said release them or charge them. I guess the reasoning here is if you have nothing to charge them for why keep them. This is a serious matter. If you cannot charge them with a crime it means that the real criminals are out there. The other thing is if they are being held for terrorist act where does the governor have a say. Shouldn't they be in a federal prison?

Mmmh I will agree and disagree with the two points above respectively. Here goes

I feel on you the part about some people not being able to speak their native dialect. I cringe mentally when I come across such people and they say it out loud with no remorse as if it is a thing of pride.

What I find even more appaling is the youngsters (4 - 10 yrs old) who can speak english with all the oyinbo accent and slangs yet they can't say a single word in their dialect.

A father can demand for a house in the village but with the outrageous sum public servants are paid that house can be built without the need for looting.

All in all I think our parents didn't do a bad job at all, however the current crop of parents we have may be the ones overlooking certain crucial things. The quest for money to provide a good quality of life for their children may be taking it's toll on them
Nobody should demand anything from anybody

FamilyRe: Should I Be A Second Wife?help: by Outstrip(f): 5:53pm On Aug 29, 2011
You mean "should I be a home wrecker?" That is exactly what you are should you do it to this woman. It does not matter if his wife says it is okay. There is no woman on this earth that would not rather have her husband to herself. Even the ones that were raised with that view give in because they feel it is their husbands house and it shows they are good wives. Part of that slave mentality that archaic Nigerian families like to keep their females in. Even if it was eating her to death she will not show it to the man especially since he seems to live in the states. Some women would rather die than let people hear that they are divorced. You need to leave married men alone. God will not bless you with another womans husband.

grin  grin  grin  Gone are the days when men where men. Apologies to the few real men out there. I mean someone is here telling the woman to go and search for a job for the man that sits at home all day. If he spends the 8 hours a day that the woman spends working looking for a job we will not even be having this conversation. In fact if she came here and says that the man has been working at mcdonalds for the past three years and she feels it is beneath her we would have told her to go eat poo poo. I wonder what the bare minimum of head of household is these days if this is the advice someone gives to a working mother and wife.

Kayy the idea that an 18 year old will not marry a man that is not already made is just plain ridiculous. Many of us married our husbands when they had nothing and a woman that works for as many years as this poster has worked with no real support from her husband is most likely not a gold digger. As a matter of fact her age when he married her worked in his favor. He could feed her all the bull in the world and she would take it while he forgets that one day she will mature and see that this is not right. Anyway my hope is that she reads everyone opinion and decides how she will discuss it with him. If he is smart he will get a job washing dishes tomorrow if that is all that is available to him.
Dude, you are missing outstrips' point. That you compare OP's husband to your dad. . .your HARDWORKING father is an insult to dear daddy. Your father didn't sit at home playing peek-a-boo on facebook, he took care of his children, he supported your mom and he looked for ways to get himself back on track. If OP's husband was half. . . a quarter of the man your dad was, she won't be here today.

Do you know why it was easy for your mom to rush home everyday and tell your dad "Ma ronu"? She saw his EFFORTS, she knew he would "Ronu" because he was not a LAZY MAN and he took PRIDE in being seen as the family provider. Your parents are PARTNERS, from your own words, you can see the give and take aspects of their relationship. How on earth can you degrade what they had. . have to the level of what OP and her husband have? Major insult!

I swear, sometimes it is better not to say anything at all than say something that indirectly sullies a beautiful thing (In this case. . .your parent's marriage)
Ahh Sisikill thank you. Maybe I was not speaking english.

@ outsrip,

thing is there are loads of people that think they own or rather control some sections on this forum, feel they have tailored made amswers to questions and situations, belive in their perfect way of expressing themselves, i believe if u read thru wat i posted on there i never told the poster wat to neither did i advise her to take a step, all i said was" if u were my sister", she is not , so she has every right to make a decision that suits her very well, i dont know wat is between both husband and wife, all i did was to make her understand if she feels she has done so much, she's passing thru hell, some have done better, some have passed thru worse, and in the end, they worked together.

In your mind, to feel u are right by rendering insults to my dad only shows the kind of person you are, you wouldnt live with someone like him fine, but thank God he has a reasoning person who lived along and helped him thru, they're both happy, enjoying the benefit of their hardwork and they respect eachother as husband and wife, so u are you to dictate what is right or wrong to him, i belive this is about giving advice to the op, so you should do that and not try to dissect and scrutinise watever i have posted. i repeat you dont know him so have no right to insult him cos i havent done that to any one. ok.
Why don't you go back and read what you wrote. I cautioned you on comparing this man to your dad. never did I insult your father. Go back and read it then be mad at yourself. I guess at the end of the day you are so totally clueless if you wrote what you wrote and came back and said I insulted your father. Nonsense
FamilyRe: Advice Pls by Outstrip(f): 1:16am On Aug 28, 2011
Please your epistle is too long. What you have chosen to ignore is that this man is jobless by choice. He does not want to work because the jobs he has found are beneath him. He is not responsible. The child goes to child care so it is not like he is saving the family money when it comes to child care. You cannot compare your fathers situation one bit to this man. As a matter of fact it is an insult to you dad to even do that. If you have to flip hamburgers for a while then so be it. No excuses please. He needs to wake up and be a man. Period.

FamilyRe: Husbands Are To Be Blamed For Non-provision Of A Male Issue In The Family! by Outstrip(f): 7:32pm On Aug 26, 2011
You simply can't blame men for everything. many of the men with this mentality have it because their wives are just as daft. Some women who know will even sit there and beg their in laws to give herone more chance to have a son so that the man does not try with another woman. I say Nigerian men are only as bad as Nigerian women let them be.
FamilyRe: Advice Pls by Outstrip(f): 7:29pm On Aug 26, 2011
You created the monster. Sorry to tell you so. Why would you pay back people that he owes. He does not want to work because the job is beneath him? Someone that cannot buy tissue paper to wipe his bum is talking about a job being beneath him. You have a child to raise. if you choose to be a single mother just make that decision with honesty. It will not be easy but many women are forced to do it all the time. Keep the relationship with the child and his dad as healthy as possible. Don't deny him access to his child especially since he is very close to the child. As for the facebook comment I can definitely see why he would be jealous but after you explain to him and reassure him that should have been the end of that discussion.

I just watched a case of murder on Crime Channel where the husband confessed to killing his wife to the Police. He was released because there was no evidence linking him to the crime and his story didn't add up. The actual killer was caught much later. The husband STILL confessed in court but the DA convinced the court he was not the killer. The man was not insane, but for some reason believed he killed his wife. What would have happened to him if he was in Nigeria? smiley
Saw something similar on Dr Phil last week also. The man basically had a thought disorder. he confessed that he killed a woman and another time killed a man and a woman he met at a bar. The FBI could not find the body of the woman he claimed he dumped. The worst part was that the man cannot for sure say if he really did it because he has two sets of memories of what happened. In one he actually helped the woman on the side of the road fix her tire and in the other memory he actually killed the woman and carried her body into the woods. Now you tell me if someone had such a disorder in Nigeria what their options would be. By the time their family and spiritualists that they all go to finish with them they will even be seeing visions of killing their own parents even if their parents died of natural causes
