i thought people develop at difference paces. why the time limit?
8 years is a lot of time. I am not saying they have to get married within a year but they should know where they are going especially when we are talking to people in their late 20s to early 30s. She needs to value herself enough to move on

So I am assuming you live in the US or UK. Why are you still responsible for them financially. You obviously have some guilt. Get rid of the guilt and enjoy your life. You don't owe anybody anything

People's future dashed to pieces. So sad. I remember when New Benin market got burned and people were crying over their money they left in their shops. I can't believe that people still do that even now. Could it be that they are afraid that banks will close down and they will lose their hard earned cash? My heart goes out to them

So you are treating an STD already. I really do not know what to say to you. The man is mentally and emotionally abusive. He has already given you and STD. Please make sure you get your regular pap smears because cervical cancer is not respecter of person and he obviously is not using protection. You cannot detect HPV from a blood test. I am not one of those persons that think you must die in a marriage.

AdamuW:
I've tried my best not to contribute to this thread because it seems to me that most commenting have their mind made up already. For me this situation is so sensitive and complex I need concrete evidence before coming to conclusions. With sentiments running so high, it's easy for the public to be manipulated by various power groups via the media.

For example, everyone is taking what Jang said as fact and assuming that the military are not telling the truth because of some religious or political bias within ranks. If so why did the military take action during the boko haram incidents? Weren't those muslims they wiped out when they quelled the situation? I don't know who is telling the truth at the moment. It could be Jang or the military. But don't forget that Jang has a lot to gain by diverting attention to the military because the Nigerian public hate them so much. Jang is not some innocent teenager. He's a seasoned politician.

What I do know is that there are those in power who are able to put stop to the current cycle of needless killing. But for reasons best known to them, they aren't. And the public has to be very careful not to be manipulated by them. We need grown up thinking here.
Apply common sense to what you just posted and come back and post
Family › Re: Are Nigerian Men This Brutal? Why Would A Man Kill His Wife? by Outstrip(f): 8:33pm On Mar 11, 2010
JustGood:
I dont see any media describe it as "American men" when an American does anything so silly. It is always reported as "a man", not an American. Anytime it involves a Nigerian, why must we tag it with the nationality in order to make it look consigned to Nigerian men?
If someone is involved in evil and American, the media does not report it as an American man but if it a Nigerian, we blow it up and make it sound like it is exclusive to Nigerians.
I am not saying we should not state facts but we should not let it be lop-sided against ourselves unwittingly either.
I don't see why it should be a problem. It might not be you but it is many other Nigerian men doing it. Did you see the list. Are Nigerians the only married men in the US. The fact that they all made the news should even tell you how shocking it was. We hear about the Americans that kill their spouses and those ones even make bigger news to them here. Many of these women stay because they don't want people to say she left after he "trained" her in school as if she is a dog. Even some that left were not spared. The men still came after them and killed them after the divorce. I know this article is long but I have even read more than these ones and these are not the only pictures even. Some of the "luckier" ones left in time and escaped with their lives but not without scars for life. These kinds of facts should be approached head on. It should not be prettied up

There are a few books you can read that can prepare you. If you were in the states I would have found some for you. I think he finds you sexy anyway so just be yourself. Relax and enjoy yourself. If you are tense it can ruin it for the both of you.

This is really good for African women to read. Typically Africans do not save for the future and in a society that is not "women empowerment" friendly the need is there to wake up our sisters who leave it to their "men" to provide for their future

That army commander did not say what he did to stop the problem. He did not deny getting the call from the governor. All he talks about is that it was not only his job. This man could not even work as a a lower level civilian employee anywhere else in the world with that attitude to his job. Has he seen the evil that happened in Jos? WHAT DID YOU DO MR COMMANDER. Even if nobody else did anything. What did you do. Did you send in a batallion of soldiers in on Saturday night as soon as you got the call from the governor. Did you call the your fellow people in charge (the head of the so called airforce and navy) to discuss how you can stop these demon possessed agents of darkness from killing innocent babies. Ehn? What did you command Mr commander

Please do us all a favor. I would love for some of these abusive men here to post their resumes. Let us see what you filed in taxes last year also. LOL. Let us see what you have to offer. Give us your exes phone numbers so we can verify that you met her emotional needs and that you have more than 3 inches to offer. LMAO. This is pathetic. Why are you here whining like a 2 year old baby. There are certain things that separate the men from the boys. You men seek out women like this. That's the truth. You are afraid to seek out a more independent woman because you are afraid that you cannot handle it. There are men like you that were born and raised in Nigeria that have independent wives and they are happy and proud of it. If you are here whining that you got a girl with sagging boobs, wide vagina, no job, no money, no good manners don't you think you have a problem? Only you with a girl with all those attributes all the time. Even if God was mad at you

Some nigerian guys and their uslessness sha. Those of you who have the ones that eat your money deserve those ones. Period. Coming here talking crap about Nigerian women meanwhile their wives are paying their bills and feeding their families back home. You boys really need to shut it up already. The fact that you can only attract an ashewo shows that you simply are not man enough to handle the real thing. No Nigerian woman who can pay her bills and yours will settle for someone who is lazy, not driven, abusive, and simply unprepared for life. Why don't you search yourself.

Should these people not even be arrested on the spot for spewing this nonsense. Even if these things were being said about Islam are you a freaking wild animal that you are talking about killing people. WTF. You people really need to stop. I just saw pictures of dead children in Jos hacked to pieces all lying right by the dead bodies of their mothers. These people should be arrested right away for even suggesting terrorism. This is crazy people. This is crazy. There is fire on the mountain and the freaking people in charge are bleeping sleeping. This is so frustrating. Get your ass up and make an example of these people who made this statement to the media. Use this opportunity. Nigeria is at war but people are walking around there like it is not their problem.

Anyway my mom happened to walk in on us one day watching the fresh prince of Bel Air and she thought Will was so funny so one evening she walks in the living room and was like let's watch "french prince".
We all cracked up laughing at her then my dad trying to defend his wife ran out of the bedroom and was like oh I know what she was trying to say. It is "french beans". Needless to say we laughed until we were all hurting. How we went from Fresh Prince of Bel Air to french beans is beyond me
Romance › Re: Is Cheating The Worst Relationship Vice? by Outstrip(f): 9:07pm On Mar 06, 2010
Cheating is abuse. It is lying. It is saying that your spouse is not good enough. It is disrespectful. It is everything that you mentioned and more. I am not talking about someone who cheats and is repentant and works to restore their relationship. I am talking about the ones who cheat and cheat and cheat and feel like they are entitled to it. Only an immature person will say cheating is not a big deal. It is not just the act.

Uhm, uhm, I don't know why some people are so myopic in their views. Why dnt u just put yourselves in my shoes. Anyways, i own my life and whatever i think is right,i will do. For those who reasoned with me, thank u.
myopichuh? If you only wanted to hear the views of people that will reason with you why come here. What you are doing is the same as rape. That girl is not mentally or emotionally capable to make the kinds of decisions you are trying to convince her to make. You are trying to ruin her life. Your plan is to have sex with her and then later when you find somebody she will be 15 or 16 and has been introduced to a world of sex that she should not even be thinking about. By the time she is 27 (God forbid) and she has had 10 partners and 5 abortions it will be people like you who will say that she is used up. You are selfish, stubborn, and a criminal. Leave that child alone.
Fashion › Re: His And Hers Shirt Buttons. by Outstrip(f): 3:59am On Mar 06, 2010
Men's shirts button left over right following cloth and leather armor design. Left hand being primarily your defensive hand holding either a shield or dagger, right holding your main weapon, so your stance was turned - left forward slightly. Seams were placed so pointed weapons would glance off instead piercing through, so left over right for a center seam makes sense. If it was right over left, a blade could easily get caught and puncture through. Early shirts followed the left over right design because men would be used to seams being this way. Women's clothing is opposite, but the reason isn't clear. The prevailing theory is that men dressed themselves, while women were dressed by a maid, so the buttons were reversed to make the job easier on the maid. Another theory points to a more medieval mindset that women were inferior, so their buttons were done up with the left hand instead of the right, reinforcing inferiority. Although, my favorite theory is having opposite seam directions makes it easier to UnCloth your mate while standing face to face, and who doesn't love a knocking boots theory. In the centuries since, men's and women's clothing has become closer and closer in style - women's blouses being almost identical to white men's shirts, except for the button seam. It's one of the oldest holdovers from earlier eras. It's not that awkward or hard to button a shirt the other way, and women could easily make the switch, but after centuries of right over left, it's just convenience and familiarity that continues the tradition.

Phone/email friends for about 7 years
Finally met in Chicago the day the war in Iraq started (memorable eh)
Left Chicago and we kept being friends but he started acting all possessive and jealous even though I was in a relationship
Broke up with my ex and he did not waste time after that

He proposed over the fourth of July weekend and we had not even dated for a year. He tricked me that he was going to New York and I was so pissed that he was not coming to Chicago to spend it with me. It kind of crossed my mind that he was up to something because when he thinks he is being clever he gets this sound in his voice that just seems suspicious.
Needless to say my phone rings hours later and he said come to the door. He came in and we sat on the stairs excitedly talking and out of no where he got out this ring and said will you marry me. After checking that it was white gold, at least 2 carats in diamonds and the right setting, I said yes LOL
