Rooneyboy: Right on point man.So Rooneyboy you CHICKENED out of FGCID ? Na wa for you. Spent six years in that shit hole and really was the biulding block of all that I am now. And considering I schooled at a time when the Seniors and Juniors hostel was combined !!! it was really somethin else |
Love is comparable to death It grips, it holds, it takes You're confused, you're lost You fight, you fall You wish, you're worn Take me where you will Blow me when I stand still See through me and steal my thoughts You can have all, yes, I'll fall Like death you can take me Take me until am no more But even though I lose all I'll forever retain my purity. |
ojofree: So you had your mobile phone switched on during the flight.Guy, I switched on the phone as we touched the ground. Which was a full five hours (4 pm) after the initial flight was supposed to take off (10 am). I believe since the flight had been cancelled before we got to the airport, we should have gotten the alert immediately to enable us replan |
This guys put me through some terrible ish today. Got to Sokoto airport, only to be told that the flight I had already booked had been cancelled. Thank God they refunded immediately but that left us with the inconvenience of having to do the sokoto-abuja-lagos connection. Costing like an extra 15k in hard earned cash and ensuring I spent an extra 3 hrs on the trip. Terrible experience really. And to think that the apology text only got to my phone when I was about to land in lag. |
Its called 'lick it and stop asking funny questions' ![]() Just jokin , I think we used to call it awin back then |
Sisi_Kill: Commercial trucks with the tilting back....Tipping backs. . .ya know tippersThanks, nice going back in time. by the way, you mean your grandma's clique regarded someone with two tippers as low class ? Then her circle must have been really well to do, lucky you. (I'll definitely love to see dem pix) Papa always told me about how all his siblings and parents had to go to work to raise enough to pay for his education |
Sisi_Kill: On a slightly funny note, I remember my great grandmother regaling us with stories about dating and courtship in the old days and then went on to say how one of her mates married one man, even though he only had two tippers (apparently that was low class) now tell me how that is different from what some ladies do today?Sisi Kill, please what are 'tippers' |
Sisi_Kill: Believers of what. . .I feel you sister. And by the way, my 1000th Post on Nland is a response to sisi kill's posting. Now that's cool |
DeAdvocate: TOTAL BULLSHIT.Don't mind him. He's one leopard who can never change his spots. Posting hypocritical jargon all over the net. So if I am a muslim or Budha. I am not permitted to marry ba ? This sounds sick How in the world are these guys different from Boko Haram when they don't realise the need to respect and have regard for other people's opinions and way of life. Even the holy bible which they claim to follow make reference to the 'Husbands' and/or 'wife' of people who were not Christian showing that one way or the other even God recognizes those union |
DEFINITELY NO most of the times. For some its just an OCD ! |
Tgirl4real: Christianity is actually a religion as it has some ordinances of worship. In James, christianity is being described as a pure n true religion. Will get d scripture later.@Tgirl, I appreciate your post so far but I must say that true Christianity is indeed not a religion The salvation of souls and the redemptive work of Christ on the cross is not restricted by religious barriers. God has no religion. Jesus in his earth walk was in all intent and purpose a Judaist by religion. Paul both before and after is conversion was a phariseee (sect) of Judaism. The centurion related with God but we have no idea of his religion. What I am trying to point out is this - The goal of Christ was to bring an end to the religious order (the neccessity of Religion has a pathway to God) - Matt 11 v 13, John 14v6 I personally do not have a religion by choice but I believe in Christ. You might choose to have a religion but it has little or nothing to do with the Kingdom. You mentioned the James reference to religion, it is noteworthy that the greek for religion in that passage is thrēskeia - which has more to do with religious observance and ceremonies and not "Eusebeia - which denotes true godliness and real relationship with God. James certainly wasn't referring to Christianity in James 1v27 |
Though I saw the 'lesbian' and the 'she' in the report. . . but then I still need to ask, Is this male or female ? If ever there is a time to make an exception for lesbianism. I guess this case should fit !!!!! |
The man is saying the truth. Most peeps here are very young. The older you get, the more you realise that the body can't take the kind of battering it receives while you were younger |
No need to fret. There is probably nothing supernatural about your experience. There is a term for what you've experienced and it was dealt with extensively at some point on NL. Its actually a 'protective mechanism' in the body that ensures your physical body is not awake before your brain, Hence there are times when you feel mentally aware but can't just seem to respond physical. As though you're been bogged down by a force from the outside. Just do a little research and you'll find out that its something that has occured to about 80% of people at least once in their lifetime |
@Mukina, long time. Please do you still support arsenal ? |
somebody: Ikanium, so glad to hear you are settled in school. I also sent you an email - been meaning to send one. I think kulyie's suggestion about selling recharge cards is a good one but of course it has to be what you are comfortable with. Anyways you have my private email now so we can stay in touch. Take care! Thanks Somebody, youre a wonderful person. However, I don't understand what you mean by comfortable - maybe I'm not getting you clearly but I think the issue of comfort should be thrown out of the window. As long as it is not criminal or dubious, I think the OP should just go out there and any profitable work he can lay is hands on. |
I appreciate all those who have helped so far. That's wonderful. But I still feel we need to get to another very important part, and that is IKANIUM - go and get a job, get a job. I assume you are over 18. Wash cars, cook food, computer centre attendant, whatever. I am not here to ridicule you as I will never give an advice that I wouldn't have applied if I were in your shoes. This life is a long journey, there is a limit to how far you can get appealing to sympathy. (I am not suggesting you r lying or scamming) but dude I have seen a lot and have come to believe success is for fighters. I know of success people who started by selling corn, of someone who traded in second clothing, did bricklaying to educate themselves Begging should always be a very last resort in anything you do. My two cents |
bukatyne: I type as the idea flows.I was trying to read it but it was a bit difficult without the paragraphs, hence my comments. I appreciate your taking the criticism in good faith though, its a rare trait amongst Nlanders |
alaoeri: Op please what do u mean by period?Period is that time when a woman who is still in school attends classes. We have different types of period. Chemistry period, Maths period, Biology period e.t.c. It is a painful time for many women especially those not academic inclined. As the OP pointed out they are difficult to cheer up, depressed and sometimes rude like those girls who shun alaoeri in class. The OP didn't know this until he got married and unfortunately his wife is still in school. But as some respondents pointed out there is hope when she starts bearing kids, mothers are generally more intelligent and academic inclined hence they tend to have less painful periods. Hope this clears you ignorance ? any more questions ? |
bukatyne: The problem which was reinforced with this thread is that a lot of people don't know what marriage means. Imagine guys saying 'if you don't do A B C, I will replace you with a willing 1000 and 1 girls begging outside' It shows the guy doesn't know what it means and that's why marriage crumbles daily. The moment you feel your partner is replaceable with a click of your fingers, please don't marry her because you will replace her one day. I am not saying girls shouldn't reciprocate the guy's love because they are 'irreplaceable', but men should get to a point they say 'i want to live the rest of my live with YOU and YOU ALONE!'; 'We have the same vision and we would help each other to achieve it'; 'Being with you gives me the strength to carry on daily'; 'With the few times we have spent together, you have added value to my life' etc. How can a man tell me that 'if you leave, another girl would walk in bla bla bla?' He is telling me that I don't add value to his life. He is telling me that I'm not special to him. He's telling me that he doesn't have any drive or desire to be with me for the rest of his life. Why then is he in the relationship? What is motivating him to be with me daily; since I'm not worth it? This is reason enough for me to quit a relationship and look for a man who would value me and feel my presence in his life. When I am referring to a man's love, I'm not talking of BB, Brazillian hair, club and Mr. Biggs; I referring to a man who knows you well enough to know your dreams, desires and support them; a man that loves you enough to merge your visions with his; a man that is a solid support in times of problems; a man you can lean on and cry when sad; a man that is your greatest fan and support; a man whose warm embrace makes you forget all your worries in the world. It's well. bukatyne: You still didn't read the quote you just posted. That was not my first comment on this thread. I had commented to the issue of chores previously. I posted that comment because some guys were saying 'if she doesn't do chores, a thousand and one women are knocking etc'.Have you ever heard of that wonderful invention called 'paragraphs' ? and please, typing from your phone is not an excuse |
The OP shadrach77 was right, I've had the same fears too. And Manibud, you must be one intelligent fellow. That your post was so so on point Kudos ! |
How many people noticed that since Idowuogbo posted her profile pix she has been making a lot of sense ? ![]() I guess Nairaland should have a rule insisting on profile pix so that we can all be making sensible comments all the time ![]() |
Well done guys, This is not supposed to be a joke. Seriously, I saw a lady on the picture in the Kim Kadarshian thread, in a blue shirt/dress. Standing right behind Kim as she arrived in Lagos that looks a lot like Omawunmi. Please, those that know the lady in question should confirm if she is or is not the one so that we can clarify |
Jarus: many people don't know how this works.I understand your points but I personally feel the criteria should be changed so that the rankings will be a truer reflection of reality. England above Italy, Ecuador above Brazil, Mali above Nigeria sounds truly weird |
VillageBoi: Thanks for your post. First of all I'm not really sure what exact point you were trying to make. Secondly as an 'audience member' I have and will retain the right to yab Hollywood, Nollywood, the gazillion whatever-woods and any other industry I want. Are you going to tell me you are not aware of the amount of yabbing 'The Titanic' got? You're taking too serious bro I don't watch movies so I don't really care one bit about any of the woods , Holly, nolly, bolly, kanny, golly . . . (insert the rest here) Wether to criticize them or refrain is left to you. N.B. - that quip about the oscars should have made my intentions clear |
I think its quite clear that GT pays interest on saving when you withdraw 4 times or less in a month. The last time I received an interest was sometimes in November 2012, about 3K or so |
@Villageboi, sisi_kill et others, You guys are blaming Nollywood ba ? Okay now, am gonna link you to a film that will 'shut ya all up' if you haven't seen the trailer yet. It was produced by Ugandans and got about 11 oscar nominations, winning eight. As you can see, it has over a million youtube videos Its called 'WHO KILLED THE CAPTAIN ALEX' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BymeLkZ7GqM I wonder if anyone will have the 'mouth' to criticize nollywood after watching this . . . . walalalalala . .action |
prairie: In ur mind now u have made sense *sighs* somebody tell me wat to do with this kid........sheesh!After going thru some parts of this thread again, I can categorically say the best thing is to ignore . . . . . The hardest thing in life is telling ppl when you think they don't measure up and for some, they just make things even worse . . . When people are unable to hold a discussion or entertain contrary thoughts without resorting to insults and what have you, it makes you wonder what they might look like in real life ![]() Judging by the number of respondent she's traded blows with , on a benign trade as this, you can only shake your head . . . |
@freecocoa, Don't you think its her own way of 'transitioning'. As in she prolly realised she can't be 'the GIRL from destiny child forever'. I guess a 50 yr old Beyonce performing as mrs carter, twenty years on, will definitely be better than what Maddonna is presently putting us thru. |
