Please am begging you, don't 'tame' this intelligent girl as other responders have been suggesting. She's just natural curious and has a good ability to express herself.

Teach her social skills as she grows up but don't let her lose her confidence and feel as though being smart and expressive is something to be punished.

Don't you see kiddies program in this clime where seemingly intelligent kids just freeze whenever they are in front of the cameras. its due to years and years of being shut up when trying to express themselves up until they psychologically feel suppressed when adults are around
FamilyRe: My Husband Says I Am The Cause Of His Problem by pak: 1:13am On Nov 14, 2014
Apart from the issue of physical abuse - from both parties - that's a major, major red flag - I'd say patience is very critical. Am not married yet but in my relationship, one of the most important thing I've learnt is patience. Your marraige is still young and I wish you best of luck.

Also, work on the your ability to communicate your feeling without hurting each other. Learn the right approach, the right time to bring up the certain issues.

Time fails me but I would have provided bios of the underlisted and searched for pix online to spice up the thread, however these are other notable mentions amongst the almost forgotten 'greats' of Nigerian football especially in the 80's when I was a growing football addict.

Victor Igbinoba
Andrew Uwe
Kayode Keshinro
Andrew Aikhomogbe
Lemmy Issa
Jide Oguntuwase
Bawa Abdulahi
Sam Elijah
DImeji Lawal
Christopher Nwosu
Adeolu Adekola
Etim Esin (Okocha's Forbearer)
Chris Ohenhen
Segun Fetuga
Yisa Shofoluwa (The prototype of the modern left wing back who was scorned back then for displaying flair instead of grit as a defender)
Bright Omokaro and Ademola Adeshina (Butchers)
David Ngodigha
Ishaya Jatau
Friday Elaho
Friday Ekpo (paved way for the okocha/oliseh generation)

That's all for now folks

PHILIP OSONDU – The Most Valuable player U16 world cup

1987, Philip Osondu was named Most Valuable player at the FIFA U16 World Cup. At the time, he was 16 years old. When he first got invited to the Eagles in 1981, Philip Osondu was in the same team but both got dropped after the first phase of camping before qualifiers for the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup began.
However, Osondu, after a sparkling performance at the U16 World Cup in 1987, was signed on by Anderlecht and was supposed to be a player for the future. He managed to play in the U20 World Cup in two years (1989) as an 18 year old, but two years later, Osondu could no longer play football actively. After he left Andelecht, he started selling African fabrics at the airport in Brussels and later on became a cleaner in the same airport.
Hate to be the spoil sport but it was so obvious that Osondu was some sort of fraud.
Best player in the u-17 world cup at the age of 16 in 1987 but got invited to the green eagles camp in 1981 ostensibly at the age of 10 shocked
No wonder, In a complete football article by Segun Odegbami in 1988, while assessing the gains of Nigeria Football the previous year (1987), made the phrase 'if Philip Ziazia Osondu is under 17 then my grandfather is under 30 !!'.
(The bright spark of that article was when he talked about an emerging talent within the ranks of Shooting Stars who he suggested was good enough to bypass the Junior eagles and move straight to the seniors - his name ? Mutiu Adepoju. Less than a decade later, he was proved absolutely right !)

There is yet no evidence that the OP's account of events is true but for corp members posted to Langtang, caution should be your watchword, enjoy the friendliness of the locals but don't take anything for granted

nex: A friend of mine, who was a Nairalander got involved in a car crash earlier in the year, I went to see him in LASUTH, and cried a lot during that period because of the state of that hospital. People were coming in and they were just being left at the reception to die.

Well, eventually, @BibiKing1 as he was known on Nairaland, passed away as bold, and full of smiles as he's always been, cracking jokes, and giving out orders like a Mafia boss. Yeah, I cried from February till April, but I'm doing okay now.

He's one of the best human beings I ever met. He meant this country well, but I guess feelings are not usually mutual. He regularly wrote of how bad the roads were, and was eventually maimed by them.

If indeed you have been molested as an adult male. I (and am sure the whole of nairaland) might want to know more about it. It might help someone out there by learning how to handle such scenario.

FamilyRe: So, What About When Women Abuse Men? by pak:
The issue of men being beaten by their wife (or molested shocked) sounds extreme to me but I think overall, men undergoing abuse is an issue, a lot of men suffer emotional and psychological abuse.

Men have a more physical nature and in an age where it is totally frowned at and unacceptable (and rightly so) to be physical in a confrontation on the family front (or relationships). Most men end up suffering in silence.

Most introverts are particularly vulnerable. Women have been conditioned from an early age to battle emotionally, (either by nature or nurture) not so for men. Its easy to hear of ladies who have not spoken to their roommates for a week due to one minor issue or the other but men just don't toe that line.

Personally, for me over time, my way of checking people's excesses is by exercising my right to walk away from them. But going into relationships, you realise that you just can't keep walking away and there seems to be a battle between trying to make things work by consistently bending and trying to just stand where you are and allowing your partner to take the walk if she wants to.

At this rate, I can sadly assure you that the case of abusive women/abused men will continue to be on the rise. Judging by the statistics from the UK, (alarmingly at about 40%), it is quite clear that most abused victims are male already in the UK because the reality is that a major percentage of men will never speak up in instances of abuse
It is generally seen as wimpish to be abused as a man but to now talk about it or report it makes you 'double wimpish'. No man wants to be the greatest wuss in the world.

As a kid my dad left home, to live on his own, didn't remarry, didn't go into any other relationship that we knew of. Just decided to be on his. Looking back and based on the little I have come to know, I am 100% percent sure he felt abused and decided to take the walk. So yes, male abuse has always been an issue lying under the surface. And I can imagine how difficult back then it would have been for him to talk about it.

LiteratureRe: Bad Spread (An Awareness Fiction Story on Ebola Virus) by pak: 11:47pm On Aug 10, 2014
As far as the literary value of this piece is unquestionable........

It is scientifically inaccurate, sensationalism at its best, the kind Nigerians love to read without checking up the facts.

This can only spread unnecessary panic cos of its alarmist nature.

To make clear, I admire the literary prowess of the author and I agree Ebola is an epidermic that poses so much danger to our nation right now but we still need to get our facts right.

1. Symptoms of Ebola begins to manifest between 2-21 days but typically it takes at least a week. So you can't catch ebola today and start vomiting tomorrow......mba !

2. A person with Ebola that's still walking around cannot transmit the virus.....only people who are visibly sick and have clearly manifested symptoms can transmit the virus

So ebola aint the bubonic plague ! its very preventable in fact one of the reasons it was always contained in the DR Congo in time past was because many of the tribes had a culture that forbade young people unnecessarily touching people older than them. So in effect, a lot of kids lived with infected parents and never got infected.

So nice writing style but please let's spread the right message.

The mind of an average African mind is filled with greed, the average African man want to be better than the rest, so therefore he careless to provide jobs just so that the man he tagged poor will not be richer than himself tomorrow. Dangote is a billionaire, but what has he done to help Nigeria?, Abacha stole billions, where did he keep the money? James Ibori went and bought estate in UK with investment, why didn't he build the estate here?

I don't blame our leaders but even the people ain't good either. Blacks are succeeding every where in different countries but the ones in the black govern countries are suffering. Go to Winnipeg Alberta Canada and see how those greedy leaders spend money on their Kids?, you will broke into tears.

Donald Trump is usually silly......

If we had done this to flights from Liberia, our current situation might have been avoided.

As a matter of principle, even the home countries with high incidence of the infection should have banned non-essential flights to and fro themselves without waiting for others to reject them.

Note that Mauritius in Africa here has already banned flights from Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea

AlBaqir: First, only the letters of the Arabic Qur'an are sacred meaning that the cover protective pages of the Qur'an or ordinary translation is not.

Qur'an being downloaded on the phone: the moment you open the application is like you've open the covered page of Qur'an is booklet form.

Ablution
Although ablution is only compulsory (wajibat) before you start salat, It is however, a highly recommended sunnah to perform ablution before reading or touching the letters of the Qur'an.

So whether Qur'an in a booklet form or downloaded on phone, you should be in a state of purity (wudhu) before you recite it.

We are enjoyed to recite Qur'an in a serene and tranquil environment. Those ladies could distract your attention in a public places.

For you to have time at office to recite Qur'an, you must have had or can find a secluded place. If however, there is none and its just only your office where more than 2 people share with you among whom are ladies half-dressed, in my own personal view, you can choose to recite with full concentration, inaudible voice in that condition. Allah is more concern on your inner heart (with full concentration) than just physical condition.

He knows best.
Though I am not a muslim but I must say your response sounds moderate and very reasonable, at least from the perspective of one who believes in or respects the Islamic religion

Although, I feel the gender of the questioner should have been queried because he somehow does not sound female to me.

Anyway, I appreciate you answer because one of the major challenges of religion in today's times is the ability to adapt to the vicissitude of modern life without necessarily being corrupted by it.

proevan: I see your beef is between the new and old testament is it in the knowledge or the books. Mind you 80'/, of what you call new-testament are quotes from the old. Matt.4: temptation od Jesus is Deut.8:3, Psalm 91 etc we are not here to debate nwe or old testaments but dreams. Jesus came to fulfill the old testament and not abolish it remember and as long as everyone doesn't have the Holy Spirit people will continue to dream dreams and want interpretations.

Let me close with this scripture :

2.Cor.3 : 1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? 2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: 8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. 11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious. 12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: 14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. 16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. 17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
So you are the SadeIyare ? ? ? ?

remember and as long as everyone doesn't have the Holy Spirit people will continue to dream dreams and want interpretations.

As long as you agree on the bolded, then there's no point pushing this. It shows you know what God's perfect plan is and I can relate with your reason for still insisting on dreams and their interpreters.

However, a forum like this is definitely not too appropriate to fully exhaust my reasons for insisting it is slippery ground.

proevan: So why do God minister to people through Angels when we have the Holy Spirit in this dispensation ?
As I said, God can minister through a Donkey if He so wishes !

but the Word of God still remains the yardstick to determine God's plans and purposes for a man's life not professional dream interpreters who manipulate circumstances to suit what they want to say !
Christianity EtcRe: Dreams And Their Meanings/ Interpretation by pak: 6:11pm On Dec 09, 2013
First off, God is answerable to know one, and he can choose to speak through a donkey if he so wishes.

But God through scriptures has established patterns with which He intends to deal with his children in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit

proevan: Acts.2: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
From a spiritual perspective, what do you think 'old men denote'.
Men and women, who will fulfill God's agenda in this time and age, will run with visions and prophetic words......write the vision and make it plain upon the tablets, (Hab 2).

proevan: Matt.27:19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
Sorry I sound harsh, but this is why many fail exams. Was she a believer ? Was she under the new covenant ?

proevan: Matt.2: 22 But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
Pls clear this misconception, the new testament did not start after Malachi. Joseph was very much an old testament man. The new testament started between the time the curtain of the temple was rent and the day of pentecost. Everybody before then, except Jesus of course, operated under the old testament.

proevan: Matt.1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
The old testament was still fully in operation as at this period !!!!!!!!

EBK2: 2.Cor.10: 3: You dont war in dreams. As believers, we war in prayers, the Word and Holy Spirit. So this Scripture is irrelevant in this discussion

Job.33: This is a very relevant Scripture to this discussion. backs up the assessment that dream is the means through which God speaks to His children because in that scripture, God is the one speaking. No place or mention of evil or demons in this scripture or evil.

1.Cor.12: You do not discern spirits in dreams. You discern spirits by the Holy Ghost and this is a Gift of the Holy Spirit, not some spooky stuff.

an evil and ungodly opportunity that is in capacity to take advantage of is going to arise, God is telling you not to fall into the trap of the devil so that you won't miss a bigger ,better and Godly opportunity.
The devil is so wise about exchanging one's glory with story that touch, a good example was when he exchanged the glory and dominion of man with the fruit of disobedience , the devil gives a cap(riches) in exchange for the head (wealth/flourishing) that wears it.
so my bro, do what God would be proud of when the time comes. Jesus loves you
