How times change. So the latest strategy now is to let a stock be left off TS,wait for it to drop to close to PO price and then plunge in.Two months ago the reverse was the case. Oh! my NSE,how beautiful and unpredictable you are?
It depends on the stock. Fidelity has been on net offer before and after the PO. Even FCMB and Access that dipped, rose first before dipping.

Some months ago someone that mis-read the strategy decided to buy loads of Fidelity on TS and the person was alerted that Fidelity is bound to drop after TS is lifted. I hope the person heeded the good advice.

As an example, does one expect Aiico to drop after TS is lifted? I don't think so.

@ All,

NB I don tire to try get AIICO but the thing no gree show. Does anybody want to sell his/her AIICO.

Na beg.

Fidelity dey there but wait make it drop close to PO price.
My Aiico is available for sale at a shop near you. Only N4.50 per unit as you be nairalander.

Fidelity near PO price of N8 ke?? Like N9 or less?? I don't think it will get there. If you wait for that you will likely miss the train. Don't be surprised if they come out with half year results early instead of the usual February.

Fidelity will be the next short term money spinner. Just get your money ready and pull the trigger at the right moment!!

@easimoni - How are you seeing DEAPCAP now? Based on the projection in the PP document, the forward PE is now around 15. If they are doing a PO I will expect a juicy interim result to wake people up.

It appears the stock has hit a resistance around N4 and it may be the right time to pick up the baton. I put in a bid at N3.90 today but I'm not hopeful.

sorry, got it already, hope they wont come and tell me the same story about Japaul because I pumped substantial cheese into that one (p.o)and have been smiling with the nortward movement of the stock.
There may be other surprises with Japaul. I suspect bonus will be issued to existing shareholders and PO subsribers of course do not qualify. That profit you are seeing may end up being an illusion due to the dilution.

Intenegin is too expensive at a forward PE of 31.

@ All,
I'm glad you all are waking up to the issues I've always had with POs in Naija. It's not worth the trouble. Stay in the secondary market.
Are you not being generous to IEI?

I have a forward PE of 40 based on 5.5B shares and a half year PAT of 0.41B. Am I missing a Q-3 results?

this diamond is giving headache should i exit ? Though i didnt reach my exit point but i got some in it. Na that emergency money i want luk for. And i didnt c any future raise for a short term. Whats your opinion? I don't want to hear wenn. Lol!
Diamond Bank is a candidate to exit tomorrow for me. If you bought at the right time, you should still have around 16% Net. For me, my GDR will take care of any long term gains.

Note that Diamond is only dropping marginally. If you are a long termer, it is a good stock to hold.

hello Man-jiro or Pumpin please, do you have technical documentation that would better understand how to format and download the zenith sheet and import it to aptistock.

I copied and pasted fields to the excel sheet and was able to import but the updated info would not show up on aptistock. could i be doing it wrongly. are we to save the new csv in with the stockname first of the date, first infact if you can provide is with the csv's from 21st dec to date that will also be helpful

I even tried adding data manually to the NSE stock files such as for 7up ams saved it. but it would not update aptistock.

thanks

jimmyjam

please feel to email me at: blkjizz@yahoo.com

thanks

Also if anyone has an excel macros sheet that can calculate MA, MACD, RSI etc all on one simple sheet with graphs please email to me thanks
Use the thread kindly provided by easimoni. Everything is explained clearly.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-103844.0.html

I have also uploaded in megaupload link below a zipped CSV file with all the date from April 2007 to date that works for BOTH Aptistock and MetaStock. Ensure you save the data as CSV(MS-DOS) and not just CSV. Thanks to the original providers of the data (bigjay01 and savvylanre)

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SNAWNK4Q

For additional days, just create a new CSV file with the data for that day only (This means the import finishes quickly) and import this to Aptistock or Metastock.

Then copy the data from the new CSV file into the old CSV file so you can continue to maintain the entire data in one CSV file.

i use TRW
Will you recommend them based on the service you are getting? I'm not thinking of changing but I've seen a few members express concern with the service they are getting. Maybe this is one to look at.

I just discovered their website and I'm kind of impressed with the information they have been sharing since my free registeration on the website. Also the timeliness of it.

I suppose you get even better stuff if you have an account with them.

TRW Stockbrokers also send Technical indicators data to your inbox. Does anyone use this broker?? They just appear so efficient. See example email received today.

For the technicians - Personally, I have not started using these indicators.

MACD
Review of FIRSTBANK (FIRSTBANK)
as of 1/8/2008

Current Statistics

     Close:   43.130
    Change:    0.230
MACD Value:    0.467
Signal Line:    0.450

The MACD can provide buy/sell indications in three ways, signal line crossovers, overbought/oversold conditions, and divergences.

Crossovers

Currently the MACD is bullish since it is trading above its signal line. The MACD crossed above its signal line 4 period(s) ago.  Since the MACD crossed its moving average, FIRSTBANK's price has decreased 3.51%, and has ranged from a high of 45.800 to a low of 41.150.

Overbought/Oversold

The MACD is not in an Overbought/Oversold range.

Divergence

There have been no divergence signals within the last 5 periods.

This commentary is not a recommendation to buy or sell, but rather a guideline to interpreting the specified indicators.  This information should only be used by investors who are aware of the risk inherent in securities trading.
-----------------------

Relative Strength Index
Review of FIRSTBANK (FIRSTBANK)
as of 1/8/2008

The current value for the 14 period RSI is 51.1156.

The RSI, written by J. Welles Wilder in 1978, can be used in several different ways to analyze a chart.

Tops and Bottoms

The RSI is not currently in a topping (above 70) or bottoming (below 30) range.    A buy or sell signal is generated when the RSI moves out of an overbought/oversold area.

Chart Formations

The RSI often forms chart patterns (such as head and shoulders or rising wedges) that may or may not be visible on the price chart.  Since the analysis of chart patterns is subjective, the Expert Advisor cannot find them.  You will have to visually inspect the RSI indicator to look for such patterns.

Failure Swings (also known as support or resistance penetrations or breakouts)

The RSI does not currently show any Failure Swings.

Support and Resistance

The RSI shows, sometimes more clearly than the price chart, levels of support and resistance.  As with chart formations, this is subjective, so you must visually inspect the chart to determine this.

Divergence

The RSI and price are not diverging.

I don't think it is too late to enter First Bank. I think it is early yet. If at all, I believe this will be the preeceding cycle. Expect the major cycle later before the 9 months results that are due next month.

Wanaj0 recommended First Bank long term. I don't think there was any coding there  grin grin grin

@ Pumping
My point exactly, that for long term investors, it is time to start accumulating Oceanic versus accumulating UBA because long-term, Oceanic will outperform UBA, Oceanic is growing profit at a faster rate than UBA and will parallel or have a greater profit than UBA in a year's time.

Chams:
I happened to have 1-million shares of CHAMS at the previous PP, and as stated in another stock forum, CHAMS is, and will be the MICROSOFT of Nigeria.  Accumulate as much as you can for long term investing.

I do not participate in cycle in cycles out, I invest for long term, 1 to 2 years and none of my holding has returned less than 500% within that time frame.  I studied the company fundamentals, talk with management and some of their clients, evaluate the products, and so on.  I do not dwell too much on the PE or EPS (as important as it is) but rather on future growth and potential of the company, and invest in companies both in US and Nigeria.
Oceanic - On that I agree with you but don't buy NOW. If you are in for long term why not buy cheaper in a few weeks?

CHAMS - So you don chop stock split of 4 for 1 ? I no be your friend again grin grin grin

Cycling In and Out  vs Long term investment - These are mutually exclusive. You can do both at the same time.

I am interested in Oceanic long term but I sold all my stock at 37.40 on Dec 31st. It is less than N34 now. I can go and buy the same Oceanic tomorrow at N34 to continue my long term investing if I wish. I will still be at least 5% better after brokerage charges . But I won't even buy tomorrow so I will be much better off. Yes, this will not always work, but sometimes it can be obvious and when it is, I go for it.

For me, I have 2 distince portfolios. Long term and trading of about the same value.

I mainly use PO's to build up my long term portfolio so I don't feel bad when I sell off my shares in the trading portfolio. I know I still have some of the stock for long term gains.

You see, there can be very good statistics with both short term trading and long term investments. Let me tell you that in the last 2 weeks of December last year alone, I know of a N25M trading portfolio that already grew by 30%.

My take is that you should go with the one you are comfortable with. Both of them work.

For folks that need to get high by getting NSE daily stock position and company results early. grin

I have now relegated Cashcraft to number 2 position for the promptness of providing daily stock position.

I now give 1st position to TRW stockbrokers.  grin grin

http://trw-stockbrokers.com/

Go under "Research" and register with them. You will get daily stock prices and company results before any other source in your email box. You can also get the daily stock prices directly from the website but the format sent via email is much better.

Cashcraft data is available about 30 minutes after the markets close, but TRW data is available as quickly as 15 minutes after the markets close.

The additional plus with TRW is that they will also send your the company results.
