The nose cone looks like that of a medium speed train. Can't say how far that train is from the station but if it were moving at the speeds I think, those people are way too close to it and can be sucked in by the vortices generated. Very risky. |
Mhykel217:Stop all these personality pimping. What has he done in Kuje to deserve a second term. What has vastly improved since he assumed office and what is left undone that he has promised to do with facts signed and sealed. Let us graduate from sentiment pls. |
I do not have the details but it appears the Benue State government did not handle this matter properly. There is no reason why protocol could not have gone ahead of the governor's arrival. That should be the procedure when a VIP attempts access to a 'foreign' territory as the Governor has no jurisdiction over the AirBase which is a security zone. It will have saved all the drama. |
Truthisunique2:This is what we keep on saying. The paradox of any candidate in the APC.... or the PDP by its histories for that matter. How do you cozy up to the President who has been mistakenly been given the power to make or break the future while at the same time distancing yourself from his shenanigans and the baggage of an unsuccessful tenure. Folks, we can never get qualitative leadership into office with this structure. Sorry, but there is no point voting in my humble opinion. I just cannot stand in a queue to legitimize a system that will only guarantee prolonged suffering, pain, poverty and decadence. |
Nigerians should be wary of a political party that is becoming less and less democratic by the minute. It was their supporters that blindly stood by Mr. President when he kicked against crucial national electoral reforms. Now the stick is being used on them. Everyone will eat out of this humble pie we have collectively baked. |
Shetemi12:What are his solutions to Nigeria's key problems. 2023 is just months away. List his solutions, not his pictures. This is an election, not a pageant. |
Flying to the United Kingdom all because of 'just a dislocation...' Can we get any lower in this country? |
Rugaria:How is the West to blame here. How are they responsible? There is no single NATO country on Russia's borders. Ukraine is not a member of NATO and cannot even qualify to be a member at this point in time so the West has no defense pact with Ukraine but the West will seek to protect any democratic country that is under unjust threat. |
ALLNIGERIANSMAD:Exactly. Yet they are the worse victims of the bad governance they fight and maim for. So my first principle of collective suffering via democracy is simple. Yes, we will rescue the drowning men but not quick enough so he doesn't kill us too. Let them expend all their energy of installing bad leaders. When they are spent with suffering and are ready to e rescued, then we will start to vote. Nigerians are still not ready to move forward. You simply cannot force that horse to drink. |
kollinpowel:Are you sure of this? For they will have gained the much needed rest and possibly made a few more quid. Rather than partake in a system guaranteed to make them worse in time to come. Voter apathy is everywhere in the world where democracy in truth is not working well. As for the complaints. It is better not to vote and later complain than to vote and be disappointed. Bitter bile consumes faster from within, which is the experience of most who carry their oppressors on their heads. |
sencekompis:There are more 'pandemics' in years to come... economic 'pandemics'.... security 'pandemics'.... environmental 'pandemics'.... all sorts. The wise thing nations do is to elect leaders 'before' crises arise. It is the only insurance nations have to survive. In these parts we are always chasing crises in the third world because of lack of foresight. Waiting to react to tragedies before seeking to instal competence, capacity and capability in leadership. Insurgency caused us to run to a 'General' for succor but one who has not an iota of economic or social competence.... but these things will be tested and so here we are... |
nedekid:....And so Nigeria will not 'smell' progress....QED. If your car is bad you go to a technician. If your body revolts you see a doctor If you are in a bad spot, you seek an attorney..... Every one of these things affects Nigeria bodily.... but who do we seek to solve them.... our half literate and wholly incompetent "tribesmen'... |
tesppidd:That is what goverments are elected to do. Not manage the status quo and find excuses after the fact. Our expectations from the goverments we elect democratically is way too low. |
Kogi has issues.... a real Bermuda Triangle of maladministration.... of all sorts. Most certainly the birth place of Esau. |
Eriokanmi:Hmmm.... poignant.. Indeed they should read... I agree there are huge knowledge gaps amongst those that aspire to lead. |
CryptoTeacher:"Everyone'.... every Nigerian citizen has the right to contest for elected office... but because the democratic bar is set so low by the divided and ignorant citizenry that have pre-sold their franchises to sentiment.... 'anyone' is free to contest.... which is such a pity. There is just no other profession, aspiration or venture in life so open and worthless as political office in Nigeria. There are only a given number of pilots, doctors, petro-chemists, geologists, psychologists in Nigeria. If any industry opens for vacancies there will be only a set number qualified for such positions. What makes for a crowd or not at application or interview is the preset criteria. We the citizens have so 'cheapened' the position of President and permitted an alarming level of mediocrity that 'anyone' is qualified. Little surprise that we are the way we are. You simply cannot experience better than your mentality. That is a law. Until we restructure to align our sensibilities and evolve standards for life and living in Nigeria, the slide to infamy will continue. |
CELEBRITIZ:Yeah, saw the guard rail he vaulted over this evening..... damaged a length and a half.... He should pay for the damage to....'critical infrastructure'.... ![]() Lucky the lake is shallow in most parts at this time of the year.. |
Brendaniel:Yeah, Shehu Yaradua is one of my favourite race tracks especially driving against traffic....can't do less than 130 keys.... so tempting.... ![]() |
RedEnergy:I don't think you heard the report of the NNPC GMD or whatever. It was clear that they brought the tainted gasoline from Belgium..... (no pun intended). |
neuf:Oga, try and read nau. Those were proprietary technologies, purpose built from scratch. This specific kit is for existing platforms, i.e choppers built for manned flight. And it takes a whole new level of AI to build systems that act human. |
..... bloody ghost chopper....Some day Americans will be fighting wars on other continents from the safety of their Sunday afternoon family back garden barbecues.... ![]() |
tareigns:All said and done. It is the active, unadulterated reflection of our society. That in itself holds value to some.... a site free of pretenses. We are a nation of racists, bigots, and every immoral behavior under heaven. And the fact that it hasn't deterred most proves it is indeed part of our nature. |
Surgeons in the house. Can't see any suction..... so waris all the blood... |
SmartPolician:Does the DPR still exist under the new PIL? |
omoba2k2:Careful observers will have noticed this for years now, I mean the last four or five years. You just cannot top up at a gas station without a noticeable change in your car's performance by either a drag or boost in acceleration and at times in cold/hot ignition and smooth or harsh idling. I'm sure most will have mistaken it for maintenance issues but I have known it was the differing quality of the gasoline sold. We really and urgently need to get refining onshore. These folks in authority are just purchasing whatever they want from wherever they want and with the death of the DPR, no one to check. |
.....hmmm deregulation blues loading.... see the fuel looking like tombo... ![]() One visit to the gas station and your ride begins to sway, stagger and hiccup.... ![]() |
Sheuns:It is good to 'shame counterparts' which succinctly implies the failure of the citizenry to elect quality leadership. A while ago (during the OBJ regime I think) there was this series of peer to peer reviews amongst state governments. I guess the widening developmental gaps between the well ruled and mediocre states put paid to that. If you observe closely you will have realized that certain states have had average to good leaderships since democracy returned in 1999 while others have managed to elect serial failures to govern irrespective of resources. After all for every Akwa Ibom there has been a Delta/Bayelsa. For every Anambra there has been a certain Abia. For every Kano there has been a Kogi. And for every Ogun there has been.... of course Lagos. Others have realised this and managed to improve over time. Ebonyi, Kaduna, while others such as Cross River and Imo for example have deteriorated markedly. I think folks up and down this country should be motivated and shamed in equal measures when good things are advertised. I cannot see why anyone should be offended by this. If your government is piss poor. Take it on the chin and put up such billboards in your states to shame your goverments into proper action. |
One by one the pride of the government is being dismantled. What is left to boast about that this government is different or better than the one it replaced. Full circle we have come.... wasted another 8 years. |
Instead of planning an agenda that will move them and their nation forward via the instrument of democracy, see what our youth are busy at.... name dropping and ethnocentric postulating. The very things they pretend to hate but openly embrace with all sentiment and ignorance. His will the elite supremacits not feast on them. Long, long way to go in this country. My dear youths. The President has an agenda, the governors too... The delegates have an agenda..,. what is yours... your gain out of this democratic journey...for which you expand so much energy deliberating. |
'...like a giant leech at the top of the body politic, government is essentially there to fund itself...' The truth few Nigerians realise and are willing to accept, condemn and reform (restructure). In other climes the people fund the government they want. Here the government commandeers all the resources of the nation plus, takes almost everything for itself by creating a false sense of responsibility (endless sponsored conflicts, endless subsidies, etc) and leaving next to nothing for the rest of its citizenry, keeping them in a vicious cycle of poverty and dependency.... slavery. |
Peace1993:It won't bring about less corruption. There is no 'less' corruption anywhere in the world. What power fulcrum closer to the people does is to 'contain impunity'. Impunity is the fuel of corruption. The simple in ability of the people to hold their elected officials to account. The further away these elected officials are the harder it is to hold them accountable. That is why in 'sane' societies people regard their Legislators well ahead their Governors and Presidents. Because they are accessible and open to account. No Legislator anywhere in the world is immune from prosecution. So they are the fulcrum by which Governors and Presidents are held to account..... by this simple relationship: The people can charge their representatives and their representatives can charge their leaders. That is how corruption is tackled by the instrument of democracy. |
If the AGF is appointed by the President it still amounts to the same thing. What we need in Nigeria above all things for starters is the proper separation of powers. And the only thing that can guarantee that is an intellectual electorate. We are here today in the mire because referees are players and players are referees. |
