If 'they' cannot shake down the investigation then Kyari's life is in danger. I hope he is in water tight custody. |
Exactly what has changed from the PDP years.... The heists continue undauntedly..... unashamedly. |
Of course they will always play the ethnic card because the vast majority of Nigerians are filled with garbage loads of sentiment and this forum is filled with them as well. Only restructuring can put an end to this. Imagine the protest against bad policing a while ago shortly became a war between regions, ethnicities and religions and the opportunity to have a better police service via reforms was lost.; Why will Kyari not play the same tune to have himself and his band of brothers off the hook once again. |
Folks, the hot season is here and with the rampaging global warming the climate will be particularly fiery this year. There are three things that fires require for ignition; fuel, oxygen and a heat source. Every electrical device will be going through heat stress in this period from the wires in your ceilings, floors and walls to your overworked air conditioners, fridges and chillers. Make sure these devices and other electrical/electronic appliances and devices in your homes and business premises and are properly ventilated and not overworked. And for heavens sake get a fire extinguisher. Every building should have one or more on each floor level and spaced no more than 30 metres apart and should be strategically placed around access points and circulation routes and everyone in your dwelling must have a rudimentary knowledge of how to operate one correctly and effectively. Beware. |
Parachoko:Indeed. Just as most developed nations have a power mix of hydrocarbons, renewables and nuclear to check strategic dependency and an energy mix of electric, gasoline, diesel and even hydrogen/ethanol so they explore every channel of transportation to keep commerce moving. It appears we are just waking to the realities of strategic dependency/redundancies. |
We did say that the untimely truncating of the endSARS protest/movement by the lovers of the status quo will result in a police strengthened in impunity just as taking an incomplete dose of medication strengthens the impunity of the germs in your body. We can clearly see why we need a restructured, reformed police services top to tail. And if it takes taking to the streets to save the police from themselves and from dragging the image of this country in the mud, then so be it. Enough is enough. |
nonxo007:Not everyone will be rich or successful. The fact that he was a footballer does not exempt him from a humble life. There are ex-sports men and women, entertainers and so on the world over living at the bottom of the barrel for a myriad of issues. Nothing special here. |
LibertyRep:I just do not understand the stupidity when people talk like that. Is it a black thing or what. Such a daft thing to think and say. Then what is the point of elections if you cannot have a better government. What is democracy all about. When people begin to compare and justify the present woes on account of the previous experiences they have voted to change it is a slap on the faces of those who argued, cried, and then fought to effect a new government through the ballot, mocking them that their acts were all in vain. That is bad and corrosive for democracy. No wonder the dwindling voter turnouts in elections ever since. They cannot see the dividends for their mandate and it is all excused away. It is like as manager I am ordered to change a disastrous worker that has nearly bankrupted the company and after a while the situation only gets worse and at summons I have the effrontery to tell Mr. Chairman that the troubles are not new, that it has happened before so it should happen again.... what will become of me the Manager. Walahi some Nigerians need to be sacked from this country. We are THE PROBLEM, not the leaders we employ/elect. And since we cannot rise to demand and supervise to get good government we should not expect a better Nigeria after 2023 because we are not mentally fit to have one, period. Leave them alone. Their sufferings are not enough to wipe sentiment from their empty heads. When the water is hot enough the eba will be made before that it is just garri. |
olorunthobby:That of 'NEPA' is normal for this time of the year. The harmattan is over and the heat has taken over across the tropics and Sahel full blast so cooling is taking huge chunks out of the grid same time the hydro dams are essentially dry. This has been a recurring pattern for like donkey eared years. Just like the energy sector, we need to decentralise power top to tail, allowing multiple power grids localised and across specific consumption zones so that people can invest at all levels effectively, smartly and productively. This system which is geared towards enriching a few at the expense of the people cannot develop this country. |
richmanrichard:No sir. You are not entirely correct. You may be too young to remember our first hosting of a FIFA World Cup event in 1999, and all the talk surrounding the FIFA inspections and the stadia we presented and the various adjustments we had to make to our pitch sizes in renovating facilities. Except for the very new stadia built, most others around the world do not have a detailed size but standards are acceptable within a range if it is to be approved by FIFA. |
Emax911:You are absolutely right. The dark days of parking the bus away is back. |
BJanta:Putin is doing what every dictator from Alexander the Great to Ghengis Khan and his big brother Stalin would do, which is to project power abroad to remain relevant at home and terrorize internal dissenters. As he gets old and frail and as he fears a putsch inevitably coming expect more wild and wacky acts. |
nedekid:What are you saying. Between 1988 and 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed and Russia could barely put a government together and was in total economic ruins and the United States was at its strongest (just before its misadventures in the Middle East) both economically and strategically, it did not press for a so called 'unipolar world', Is it now when it is looking more inwards that anyone should fear. The US is doing all this just because of its commitments to Europe via NATO and no more. It is not interested in Ukraine one bit neither does it care if more territory is annexed after all Ukraine is NOT entirely friendly towards the US. They are just lucky Trump is out. He wouldn't give a damn even if Russian tanks were to cross into Poland and head towards Berlin. |
oluwaahmed:And you cannot have working refineries with subsidies.... so. |
They refused to reform in response to the endSARS protest but boasted in their impunity. Guess nature is fighting back. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Shame on them and shame on their supporters who kicked against the protest and the chance to evolve a new police service. You have all been served. |
Roads were free. One big benefit. |
Here they go again with threats. As if they are capable of leadership when they steal mandates from the weak, gullible and divided. |
omoolokunEsin:As the saying goes. Whoever brings a termite infested timber home for firewood will have lizards knocking at his front door. With all due respect Mr Tinubu has decided to make himself Don, so as La Cosa Nostra says, he has placed a target on his back. He did his 8 years as governor but has continued in politics after that. That he has not been in office is no excuse for the fact that he has been interested in every political office ever since and has expanded his coast to influence, occupy by proxy and dominate the political landscape throughout the south west, meaning he cannot play innocent in all the strife going on. He has refused to let democracy take proper root in the domain he calls his kingdom and this in itself has consequences. The problems are just starting. Every great empire has a sunrise, a burning noon but a beautiful sunset. Like all great empires, they will eventually crumble under their own weight and collapse from internal strife. When Mr Tinubu has 'installed' enough lackeys and created enough divisions and the estranged ones form a critical mass..... then the barbarians will begin to bang on the gates of Rome. You had better advise Mr. Tinubu to begin to let proper democracy take root in order that he can plot a honorable exit strategy, a worthy end to all his political endeavours. That is sound wisdom. |
The next rainy season will be the proof. |
Nigeria. A Contractor's Paradise.... filled with rent seeking, round tripping leeches, all desperate to suck the life blood out of the economy, leaving it for dead. |
Buba Marwa should watch his back with diligence. This thing might rise to the very top of government. |
Contractors paradise, Nigeria has been reduced to. Which one is 'contract for printing of forms'.. How many are these people you need a 'contract' to print forms for. Everything damn thing in Nigeria is monetised, for easy graft and mindless sleaze. |
danot1030:Legacy of a failed end SARS protest. Told you folks that the blow back will be monumental. When government instead of looking into the police as a malfunctioning institution decided to back them completely and unashamedly against the public good they invariably set in motion a race towards wholesale impunity. This is how criminal organisations become entrenched in society like the mafia and various cult groups.... pure impunity. The actors feel above the law. Whoever approved Abba Kyari's continuous and active responsibilities in the police service under suspension should be dismissed instantly and prosecuted with extreme prejudice. This impunity of the police MUST be checked and brought to a halt immediately. They are getting out of hand. The govement should rise to its responsibilities before the public reminds them once again. |
michlins:He was elected to fight.... to change the way things WERE. Not like what happened in 2015 where so much was promised but at the end of the day they became chief defenders of all that was wrong previously, aka the status quo. Democracy is not a cake walk and politicians are not beauty contestants or entertainers. They are hated and vilified the world over even when they do right and much, much more when they fail. It is the fiery kitchen they are called to serve in. Soludo has started very well and I trust he will become an example of what having intellect and a serious capacity to govern brings. |
Takeproft:I agree with parts but I disagree with others as well. It is a matter of opinion. Some will just not take the vaccine no matter the 'scientific evidence', period. They have rights too and though they are subject to the legal system they will push back to have the laws changed. That does not mean they should be brutalized and killed with the audacity we like to do things in black Africa. The government of Canada has other options that it is not exploring and its dictatorial stance will cost it dearly down the line. It is not an example Nigeria should follow at all. |
And who is saying what the Canadian government is doing is right. This shows that we are still steeped in sentiment and emotion and so have been looking everywhere to justify our actions. The present Canadian government is not popular for this and its popularity has been on the wane for sometime, hardly the example of what is right. Why did he not use the examples of other nations in Europe for instance where most countries there have had such protests in recent months and tap from the wisdom is the ways they diffused such situations, without over reaching violence, carnage and bloodshed. We must learn to separate issues from personalities and events from names in this country and view things objectively. We should stop being drawn to wrong things to justify our wrongs. We can never make progress that way. What the Nigerian government did was wrong. What the Canadian government is doing is wrong as well, period. |
foyeks2001:Okay, that is good. In the spirit of democracy just keep the pressure on him for better performance. Do not assume his past will be carried into his future. Remember that in these parts, the second term is often a lame duck. |
To all the hordes of sectional, ethnic champions above, in the interest of your children that will consider they way you folks lived and died in the misery of sentiment, hear this. Zone the Presidency to who can, who will and who will swear with his or her life to: * Restructure this country along the lines of social and economic justice. * Evolve a national identity. * And most importantly, put Nigerians to work as a final solution to insecurity and the myriad of criminal activities presently drowning this country. And where you cannot find one, train a horse to do that... And I will gladly register to get a PVC. Anything else is just a waste of time and a waste of a lifetime. But when I observe 95 percent of the preceding posts I can only deduce that we have not suffered enough, the fire of despondency is not hot enough to separate us from the sordid habits that have brought us here. So, may the suffering continue. |
chrisdstar:That is why investigative journalism is so critical in a country such as Nigeria. If we had such a patriotic and dogged equivalent of the BBC World Service airing such a powerful investigative program such as 'Panorama', they will be all over Belgium digging for skeletons like Egyptologists to unravel the TRUTH and REAL HAPPENINGS behind this unfortunate incident?... or accident? Your conspiracy theory may eventually hold water for the Min of State for Petro did acknowledge during the week that methanol additive testing was not and has never been one of the parameters in our long infamous history of fuel importation. So how did it happen and more importantly, WHY?. The second reason is even simpler. When a supplier gives you a defective product that is out of your specification, the liability is entirely his.... except if you were part of the error. For the government to accept full liability for this tainted fuel to the point of it willingness to rectify by 'blending' with certified products at humongous cost shows there is something, someone is not telling us. If I as much as took a well packaged bunch of Ugwu leaves through JFK and the CBP chaps spot even the minutest bug shell or carcass, believe you me, not only will the whole lot be confiscated and destroyed but I will be fined and possibly black listed. The CBP chaps will certainly not invite me to their canteen for a nice vegetable soup meal and offer to pound yam with it. Let's get serious in this country. If no heads roll both here and in Belgium then it is almost certainly a conspiracy. |
Lovely, just lovely.... |
ntyce:That is what to do and not break the law. We have a fundamental problem of creating things in Nigeria. We rather bend them. And this is because we are poor on solidarity and advocacy.... and this is because we are essentially a selfish people. When things do not favour a citizenry they go to the source of the problem to deal with it. Here we find ways to side step it. |
SLOVFO:It is. The plates do not belong to you. Its like writing on your passport. |
