When you read all this and then say corruption is the problem of Nigeria then it is clear you need to attend the clinics of one or two of them to have your head checked.

It simply cannot be corruption that will make you put their potential patients and not them in charge of your affairs.
It cannot be corruption that makes folks here everyday celebrate those they will never consider as errand boys and engage as lowly servants to take charge of their affairs and steer their destinies.
It cannot be corruption that will make you boast about these folks and then boast about the ones that govern you right now in the same breath.

What is it then...

Can we see how things work in progressive societies. How the private sector can be set on an unlimited quest to develop a country. Countries that donot have the baggage of corruption, rent seeking and contract buccaneering masquerading as the so called 'Exclusive List'.

Now the world will flock to Space X's newly approved space park to experience galavtic adventures and massive revenues will be generated for the American economy. So, from being a deficit spender on space exploration throughout the NASA years, America can potentially be a net earner.

Can we see how a simple change in the structure of things can move a process, a moribund industry, even a country forward. If there were not visionary leaders in America, NASA will either be a damning drain pipe today or the country will have abandoned space for the east bloc.

Can Nigerian leaders insistent on the status quo and her hapless citizens see how prosperity is created, how countries are run. Now can we begin to think what to do with our big money guzzling, wasteful government companies, ventures, institutions and industries that need the right kind of structure, leadership and inspiration.

LIES!

The best thing to do is stop patronising DSTV. it is that simple, use your money elsewhere. Why do you think you have the right to dictate for a company how to price her services? If you don't like it, stop patronising them. I don't understand Nigerians, it is simple economics. Look at the vast majority of the comments, people who failed economics in secondary school. Nonsense!
You don't succeed in life by evading challenges. You develop by using resistance to build capabilities. Men go to space despite gravity, men dive to great depths despite crushing pressure, men invest in great enterprises despite damning economies because that is the only way to get ahead. The folly in the security of Multichoice's monopoly should be rejoicung for the courageous visionaire.

Nigerians should rise to the challenge of this company to establish their own to conquer Africa. Where are the Dangote's of the communication, broadcast and entertainment industry in Nigeria. Why are they crawling. That is what you should ask. There is nothing Da gote makes South Afrucan can successfully sell to us. That is the push back we should adopt as national policy.

Today we see a citizen Elon Musk firing rockets to the conquest of space on the patronage of government. Here government wants to take loans to 'upgrade NTA', funds that should ordinarily go to backing visionaries who can challenge the likes of Multichoice and deliver better products than NTA will ever envisage. So you can see that we suffer a lot because we don't have the proper framework for development.

So you can see just how much each Nigerian subscriber contributes to the coffers of the South African government through DSTV as compared to what NTA for instance makes for our government, (certainly a big zero naira). This should excite us into venture.

Cost is not the issue. Value for money is. And the best way to determine that is competition. This is where governments all over the world step in. To ensure there are no monopolies. One player on the court, one team on the pitch is not a game or match so cannot be regulated or umpired as it were.

Nigerians should charge their government to stimulate more private sector participation in the international sattelite briadcasting industry. If we don't do that Multichoice will have a free ride forever. Once again, a nation that doesn't produce stuff cannot dictate uts standard of living.

Yes, he is better than the coaches who led us in the doldrums of Egypt we once were, but like a Moses this man is just not good enough to take us into the promised land. Under him we will continue our wilderness experience, beating teams here and there only to fall short at the zenith.

Everyone knows he is a genius at setting up teams and elevating player performance through good preparation but he is not a good match day manager. His reactionary tactics are poor which includes error prone and untimely substitutions. Has not ever changed the fortunes of the team post incident.

I am not surprised that years after being in charge of one of the biggest names in African football he doesn't have the outright confidence. At this point in history Clemens Westerhof not a global superstar himself had done significantly better coming from a much worse start.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Trump Cuts US Ties With WHO, Claims It Is Under China's Control by Reference(m): 7:28am On May 30, 2020
The only organisation that tells us the truth is the IMF. That is why beggerly citizens filled with sentiment hate it. They tell you clearly to cut your coat according to your cloth and spend only what you have. Of course that will irk a beggar but what can get you out of poverty faster than that. Every other thing is self deception. Just look at Nigeria today.

With all its resources and record borrowing poverty abounds. We have no idea of how to SELF GENERATE PROSPERITY. We elect leaders out of sentiment not capabilities because we can access easy money without responsibility masquerading as aid. IT HAS TO STOP.

Africans can work. We work. I work my a.ss 7 days a week for weeks on end before rotating out. I have loved ones at the forefront of the Covid battle who have been doing 18 hour shifts since this problem started. Not every African is lazily waiting for aid. We need partnerships, investment. We are not looking to short change society like the so called leaders who fly private jets and drive bigger car convoys than those they borrow from or seek aid from. It is evil. That is why we berate them everyday.

And if the aid will end we real Nigerians say, so be it.

Congratulations.
You just answered your own questions.

Aslong as African countries lack good leadership, begging for aids from organizations such as the WHO would not end. Nigerian Senators, HORs, governors etc would rather enrich themselves than help less privileged Nigerians. Same as alot of other African countries with corrupt leadership.

A good example below:

Major donor contributors for free HIV and malaria drugs in Nigeria and some other African countries for example includes the WHO, The US Gov through (PEPFAR), World Bank, Unicef etc

However, the budget from Donald Trump's White House last year for 2020 includes a whopping $1.35 billion in cuts to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and $392 million in cuts to the funds to fight tuberculosis and malaria. This Corona outbreak also gave the US president another opportunity or justification to remove US own contribution to the WHO. Note there are many countries that contribute to the WHOs purse not just the US
The WHO Ethiopian president, executives and workers could care less, they would still get paid their fat salary. Let's even say WHO gets disbanded (which is not possible), their staff would simply get absorbed into the UN. Na citizens of poor countries go hear am.

For this, coupled with many other holes plugging by the US gov just tells us that the US can't be bothered to offer good assistance to any disadvantaged or poor countries in the world again. It's now America first which is good for them - Nationalism.

To be honest, I can't even be bothered if Trump gets re-elected in November. It actually favours me as I work in the Energy industry in Canada. Trump loves the energy industry, and he has speedily approved our pipeline that carries oil from Alberta all the way to Texas. It's a win for my Canadian economy. However, not much benefit is Trump's win for poor and shyte hole countries..Goodluck to Nigeria and Africa.
But don't you consider that a continuous stream of aid is what holds this continent down. Free money has never helped anyone. Have you ever seen beggars refuse a tip and decide to work. Don't you think it is time someone tells Africa the truth. You boast of Canada as a country not taking aid and the source of your prosperity yet you are not angry that Africa is aid dependent. How do you reconcile that if you have an iota of love for the continent or the country Nigeria.

Those who love not only desire the prosperity and liberty of the subject matter but are willing to advice and perhaps impose the hardships associated with the reality of moving forward. You cannit claim to love your child yet ruin him with aid till his old age. Whether by omission or comission less aid for Africa is better. Let Africa begin to wake up. We need investment not aid.

We will never become a Canada like this.

Nigeria's problems are far worse so let is focus our attention where it matters to us not on a society that can clean up its mess. The police officer has been arrested and charged in a matter of days. How many have been brought to justice for horrendous crimes on the streets and highways, in far flung villages, in the corridors of power...in this country called Nigeria. That is my concern.

A bad structure will always breed the corruption that ruins the entire system and truncates purpose. How do you administer a just system that provides for only 1,000 people per locality out of tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands. Will this not lead to bribery on the part of the uptakers and mercantile on the part of the promoters.

Why is it that every thing we do is founded on injustice. What is the point of a stimulus package that cannot cover head to toe like a blanket in the cold. Any set of people left out of cover are bound to drag the beneficiaries back into poverty. That is why schemes like the N-power have practically no effect on the poverty stats throughout the period of operations.

These people in leadership should think of better routes to lead Nigerians out of poverty. First of all by growing the economy. When the economy grows jobs are automatically created. This can be done in a depressed economy such as ours at the moment by government releasing its non performing assets to the investing community, yielding its exclusivity in areas of the economy where businesses can be created and investing in infrastructure by direct labour in partnership with govermental stakeholders at all levels.

So instead of sweeping streets and patching roads for a living they should be deployed to building these infrastructure in the first place. The metro lines in Lagos, the highways and hydroelectric plants we are planning to use the Abacha loot for, projects that consume massive amounts of resources and take many, many years to complete are veritable instruments of poverty reduction and should not be the playthings of foreign multinational companies.

Why is it that government cannot come together and pledge that for the next five to ten years, 60, 70, 80 percent of capital expenditure shall be domicilled locally and with cooperatives rather than companies, doing joint ventures with communities to build hospitals, schools, roads, bridges, rail lines, highways, power transmission lines, drilling boreholes and constructing water and sewage plants. What is so hard in being inspired to truly empower your people.

There are far better and easier ways to change the fortunes of the peoples of a country. China did not become a Tiger by handouts to a select few. It has become a giant by inspiring its people to do things, to make things, to be self reliant. They built all their critical infrastructure by themselves and exercised in self reliance through that kind of hardship. Today you may see a Chinese who is poor but you cannot see a Chinese who is hopeless and despondent. They know what to do to survive and thrive.

If as a Nation you never had these indices prior to this new administration why then would you say we had it worse during the PDP era?

What do you regard as growth?
Honestly, makes for grim reading. Indeed what is growth, what is progress, what is development. Are we moving forward.... Who can HONESTLY say the prospects of this country is better today than it was at the beginning of this administration. No one can. The comparison is always with an administration that was deliberately changed for its failings, not of successful administrations anywhere in the world. How can one be expected to accept that.

You take your accidented vehicle to have it fixed and all the mechanic can do after so much time and treasure expended is to compare it with the car you brought in instead of what it should be. Nigerians honestly deserve to suffer as long as our expectations continue to remain on the floor.

If the PDP won in 2015 and the country was like this in 2020 people will surely have regretted keeping them in government. I don't know why anyone who is not right upstairs feels people should not complain when their expectations have been clearly dashed. Remember in just a few months this administration will have spent exactly the same amount of time in government with the one they defeated at the polls.

After that the knives will really be out.

He is right. 'If', 'Hope', 'We will', are not synonymous with a dynamic people, inspired leadership or a progression to a better future. People who will do things will just do it, period. Embraer set up a production line in the United States in conjunction with Sierra Nevada Corporation for the manufacture of A-29's for export to customers.

so now you are using pilot to judge manufacturer of an aircraft.
As long as you view military products like automobiles or household goods you will not understand. Military aircraft are defined by their capabilities not by their brand name.

Today there are half a dozen iterations of the famous Kalashinokov AK-47 that if the Police or Army places an order for a consignment it has to specify exactly which model and country of manufacture because there is a huge difference in their make and performance. You may call the AK-47 a Russian rifle but I bet the Chinese who make far more units will disagree. Though under license, the Chinese made AK is a bonafide Chinese weapon. You will not call it Russia/Chinese AK-47.

Bros, stop proving what is wrong. The Super Tucano has its nation of origin as Brazil, that shouldn't be difficult for you to understand.

A simple Wiki search would have saved you from this unending claim to falsehood.

For better understanding, the fact that a Toyota car is built in the United States does not mean the technology isn't owned by Toyota Global, headquartered in Japan, neither does it change the fact that Japan owns Toyota.

If you find it too difficult to research more, here is an except from Wikipedia
You just do not understand how military equipment is made. To compare a combat aircraft with a Toyota is... puzzling. Those munitions (bombs, rockets) you see there are American made. To fit them on an aircraft together with the targetting systems, the communication systems, the survival systems, etc, you have to rebuild the entire aircraft from the ground up. It is not like pimping a Toyota. Russian guns and bombs will not work on American aircraft and versa. Brazilian gear will not work on American aircraft.

The airframe is Brazilian but the airframe alone DOES NOT MAKE A COMBAT AIRCRAFT. There is a reason Sierra Nevada not Embraer of Brazil was given the contract. The Airforce considers the capabilities of the aircraft more important that its looks or its so called name. If you want to compare automobiles here is one.

Innoson and many others buy CKD's from China and build vehicles according to their own (Innoson's) specifications. Say what you wish, it is an Innoson. You can go to China to buy something like it and the Chinese company may be selling to other African coubtries but once they are built or rebuilt they take on a new identity. If you look at all the variations and iterations of the Super Tucano you will be shocked.

The factory in the US was set up to help scale up production for international buyers, you can read more on that sir.

The fact that an engine comes from Canada or some other parts comes from another country does not mean they own it.

A variant of the Airbus A380 for instance uses Rolls-Royce Trent 900, does that mean UK owns it? In fact Boeing 777 and 787 Dreamliner use the same engine, does that change the country of origin? Spirit Aerosystems, an American country, makes fuselage for Airbus A350, does that change the country of origin?
Look. You can take a typical Embraer Super Tucano airframe to India or Russia or the United Kingdom to build it into whatever you want. Israel does it with every weapons platform it buys from the States. But when it guts and rebuilds an M1A1 Abrams or an F16 it calls it something else.

We are buying an American version of the Embraer Super Tucano. I don't think there is anything so difficult in understanding that. We may have had the option of buying a Brazilian built Embraer. Who knows why we didn't but knowing the quality of American equipment it makes sense to buy an American. And the first time in our history to purchase American combat aircraft.

Our only functional battle aircraft is the Alpha Jet. Originally designed as a trainer, this aircraft is a French-German combine. And with the little I know about these things I can guess the airframe will be French and the weapons systems German because the French have always been known to design spectacular airframes and the Germans have always been known for badass weaponry. Military weaponry are very expensive to R & D. Only few country companies are able to produce cutting edge stuff singlehandedly.

Embraer is a Brazilian company. Embraer makes all sorts of aircraft from passenger aircraft to corporate jets. When it comes to military aircraft it is a different ball game. Military aircraft have two components, the airframe itself and the weapons systems. The Super Tucano 29 is a joint venture between Embraer and the Sierra Nevada Corporation based in Florida. Check your facts. The plane we are buying is built in Florida. Look at the pictures. Do those pilots resemble Brazilians.

the simple fact that the F22 is 5 times faster means that they will reach BH boys before they disappear into the Sambisa forest...
The F-22 is an air superiority fighter meaning it is primarily designed to kill other fighters. This is does by stealth, an extraordinarily powerful radar that enables it engage and destroy enemy planes well beyond their own missile capabilities. It can engage targets up to 150 kilometres, further than any fighter today.

What makes a good jet fighter makes a poor ground attack aircraft. Ground attack means that your primary enemy is on the ground. If your enemy is not a missile battery equiped with radar the F-22 will never detect you at the speed it and the minimum altitude it operates. You need an aircraft that is slow enough to recon and spot highly mobile targets such as infantry. This is where the Tucano excels.

The best ground attack aircraft in the world today is the Fairchild A-10 Warthog. But even that plane's strong point is against armour like battle tanks not even infantry. By the way the plane is over 40 years old in service and the technology is becoming obsolete. The US will not even sell to us anyway.
