If you want me to laugh forget it. I'm dead serious today. Covid 19 is messing with my schedule and forcing delays on some of my project deadlines. Anyway thanks for the skit some comedians masquerading as political jobbers deliver regularly. Lightens the mood once a while. |
That is why jungle justuce will persist despite our pleas to the contrary. As long as real justice remains illusive folks will continue to take laws into their hands and vote for self help. Malami is only appending his signature to the perceived failed status of Nigeria. |
You are no democrat mister. Sit down. Posterity will mark your decline from a progressive in the early 90's to a feudal autocrat today who cannot tolerate opposing political lineages and linkages. Leacture yourself about democracy first. |
A tedious read. Guess English is not one of your subjects. |
Racoon: ... you be real racoon. You no dey taya. Some of us have all but given up on Nigerians. Just sorry for them. |
One of the biggest challenges to the quality of infrastructure is our population size and the crazy rates of increase. It strains infrastructure and wears them out very quickly and where you adopt a structure that does not sanction or at least discourage this rapid population increase then the result is constant infrastructural decay. A taxi will always wear out faster than a private vehicle of the same brand for the same reason. Those foreign universities will only admit what they can adequately cater for. No more. But ours are massively over subscribed. In my time we were only 34 admitted to the Department that session of which 21 graduated and 5 of us proceeded immediately for a Master's degree with 6 joining in from other universities. We were three in a regular sized hostel room at induction but by my final year I had a room all to myself. We are killing ourselves by breeding like rodents. That isn't life at all. |
Power demand is nowhere near pre-covid levels as a lot of companies and industries are still shut or operating far below capacity due to the interstate lockdown either with huge inventory backlog or trickle raw materials. Logistics has been a nightmare for me since April though I'm up in most locations. So to determine the quality of electricity supply will not be accurate for a while. When the big boys are fully back, we will see. PHCN has to manage the small fry for now to maintain cash flow thus the seeming improvement in some parts. |
At least let it be on record that someone stood up against it so that history will not claim acquiescence on the part of Nigerians because that will be their plan. They will say we all supported it because no records exist of those who opposed it. Just look at how they tangled themselves with the anti fuel subsidy removal protest of tye past government. The loans today was yesterday's fuel subsidy, naira for naira. We told them then that they were kicking the can down the road. |
It is as if the whole nation is apologising for throwing Orji Uzor Kalu in jail. Can we simply agree on what is right and wrong as a nation and act accordingly. If corruption is wrong then what is the matter with us.... And don't say it is none of my business because our representatives, those we put in Abuja to decide the standards by which we live as a nation aka law makers have been trooping in to apologise on our behalf.... and it hasn't angered any community yet to scold or outrightly recall their representative who has gone a visiting, in total disgust at this charade. Is this how corruption will be defeated? PS: I will not even juxtapose the terrible condition of Abia State which both these men presided over for a whooping 16 years. If Abians are not tearing their hair out at this tragic comedy then all hope is lost.... completely. |
9PBLIVE:You just stress yourself for nothing. The vast majority of Nigerians are wretchedly poor yet will clap for things like these. If they won't pay attention to the source of their poverty nothing can and will be done. In two years not a singke one will remain operational. That is the structure of Nigeria, a contractor's paradise. Meanwhile Innoson assembles fire trucks but they won't go there because it will be more difficult to hide the over invoicing. Reprobate thieves. |
myboy2111:Quit ignorance. Colin Powell was never a service chief. Don't use the same standards of Nigeria to ascribe other more advanced countries. Powell was the Chair Joint Chiefs, a pseudo political cum political liaison role. The service chiefs are pure career military positions who may never see the inside of the White House unlike ours always in Aso Rock meeting with the President on bandits, herdsmen and insurgents. Can't you see Powell mouthing off politically recently. Service Chiefs don't know anything about politics neither do they care. |
Ruined for life. No reputable organisation will employ them. No reputable country will admit them. No reputable business man will transact with them. Lives truncated to the dregs of cascading criminal activities. A vicious cycle of freedom and felony awaits. |
Kingspin:As long as democracy remains a game of numbers true development will not materialize until the last citizen understands what his franchise represents. A chance to better his life and that any contrary reasoning will only make things worse. You simply cannot enjoy democracy with abounding ignorance amongst the people.. |
Job2004:Good morning. But when we say restructure they say no. Even the learned Vice President says the problem is not structure but in the allocation of resources, aka rent seeking status quo where productivity is attacked and mediocrity vociferously supported. Well, when you are given free money for 33 years called allocation instead of a structure that will make you eat from your research and development works then dried meat is all you think about. Why not. Give me free money for the next thirty years and I too will develop genetically enhanced self roasting chicken wings.... reprobate nation. |
The dividend of God less homes. When we ask them to start it with God, run it with God, so that it can end with God like results they sneer. |
Yet another who's legacy could have been much different. If only he could stand for what was right. But he couldn't. |
Single use plastics should be banned in Nigeria or taxed to high heavens and the revenue realised directly used to tidy up. |
Yes, security screening to ensure he is not a threat to the status quo and will not torpedo the Titanic carrying the owners of Nigeria. |
Does this man have anything else to do outside politics. I mean anything at all productive to society and himself. That can take him away from socual media once a while. What is his profession. Where is his office, business premises or workshop. How can people elect you into office when you have no office to start with.... when all you do is roam around town... |
contigiency:Money is never the solution to anything, structure is. Get that. The north has held power forever, it hasn't changed it for the better. The south has held money for decades, it hasn't changed it. Something is fundamentally faulty. That is the structure. Without restructuring nothing can work, no leader can succeed and this nation simply cannot move forward. Remember we are in year 6 of the corruption war yet it rages on. What I said in 2014/15 I am still saying today. What they were boasting about in 2015 on the other hand has all but been retracted. Do you hear from superman Magu anymore.... |
A for effort, F for theory. There is absolutely no way that thing will work. The size of the most sophisticated solar panels in the world his roof will accomodate will not produce more that 500 watts peak power. That is not near enough to move that much steel (should have used lighter materials like aluminum for the chasis and composite fibres for the body) and with four pasengers.... you need much higher energy density to keep a motor of minimum size of 3 horsepower running which will kill that battery I can see in seconds. Good try though. Now he needs a few books to add to his enthusiasm. |
Salvador1:Indeed. For your racial profilings and ethnic battles that are gradually pushing us away from thus forum. |
The sexuaalization of society on the web through uncensored pornography, lurid music and motion pictures from the so called celebrities, the breakdown of family structures and sou d moral upbringing through social stress and runaway poverty will continue fuelling this. When we as a society feel it is only money that counts, human tragedies are bound to happen. When will the human being count in Nigeria. |
Yungmil:You are grossly ignorant about democracy. Go and learn to be a model citizen please. It is not the name, it is the institution, the purpose of multiparty democracy in building nations that should be foremost. Guard that and all will be okay. The only danger here lies in the quest by a party once in power to destroy all political opposition. That is the grave danger. Stop that and no one will cross carpet. Democracy works to develop nations when citizens can freely remove non performing governments and exchange them with a promise of better performance, period. It does not involve the destruction of one. The African inherent desire to always be led by autocracies is our bane and that is why we chase names instead of institutions, people instead of policies and processes. We simply cannot build things or maintain them. When we fail we don't learn and repair, we destroy and claim to restart. In proper democracies parties are replaced in power for a season until the new fails and the tandem is repeated. Jimmy Carter failed in Iran and Ronald Reagan replaced him. His tenure was successful so his Vice was elected but after the disaster of the first Gulf war he too was ejected after only one term. The people were not saying like ignorant Nigerians that the Republicans and Democrats are the same or that Carter failed years before so the Democrats will never rule again or call for the formation of new parties. They elected William Clinton because they needed a strong economy and they got it. And since the Bush Senior term the Republicans have come back twice in Bush Jnr and Donald Trump. The Democrats have had Barack Obama in between. That is how progress is made. Here we call it recycling. There they call it the piston movement of internal combustion that drives the mobility of development. So you better learn how this thing works and apply your senses not emotions to gathering the critical mass that can and should move Nigeria forward by insisting your mandate stands and resisting any attempt to destroy democracy for autocractic temptations. |
For an administration that started out so promisingly, this appears to be its legacy and what it will be remembered for in decades to come. Can't see anything remotely resembling good governance in this country. Just one sad tale after the other. |
Citizens berating the opposition party concernig things that affect them negatively only fuels impunity. Who else is going to speak for you oh citizen. Every other democratic failsafe is rendered inoperable. How can things be corrected this way. |
Told you folks that probity cannot be found in any superman or angelic postulation, but in the right, working structure. As long as the status quo is kept, corruption remains for keeps. Just wait till 2023/4 for the tidal wave of sordid revelations about this administration's financials. |
Mr. Governor. NGO's running things, government workers running away. Instead of wasting your time and energy trying to square the circle why not just look at the structure and realise who should be in charge of what. It is staring you in the eyes.... Yet another proof that the government should not be running anything of importance. |
And the people there will not pity themselves and demand good governance. They want to be politically correct so they ostrich expecting the outside world to carry placards for them. The story of Nigeria. |
I will have rather liked to see the Federal Government directly involved in the completion of at least one of the lines in the ongoing metro system. That will make more strategic sense. It should cede these bridges to the Lagos taxpayer and put money into more important projects that has greater potentials in sorting out the congestion problems that wear out road infrastructure very quickly. It should take an equity stake in the metro system and liquidate same as soon as the system is up, running and returning investment. By so doing it will show the Lagos state government how to commercialise infrastructure in best practices which will trigger further investment by other interests. That to me is the fastest way of completing the metro system meaningfully. If the state government hopes to finance the project by debt or its resouces alone all in a bid to render a social service by government bureaucracy it will wait an eternity and it will not succeed. The Federal Government should help. The dconomic potentials of the metro are massive. |
