Should not have come. Was not necessary. The risks are far too great. |
Even in death more people will be put down hard by his funeral and we say we should praise these political feudal overlords who have done absolutely nothing for the peons to prevent scenes like we see from happening. Wouldn't it have been a better legacy to have the citizens bring the little they have to honour and celebrate your life and passing, even if it is bouquet of flowers out of the much you have put in their hands, the much you have blessed and empowerd them with. Instead this show of deadly shame. When it is time to award contracts for roads and bridges they give them to multi-nationals who are prosperous enough. When it is time to build schools and hospitals they give such jobs to political fat cats. Well we cannot see Mr. Folly Malfeasance from 'Julius Berger' or Double Chief Chop and Die from Failed State Enterprises and Sons scrambling for funeral food. They have cleaned out and don't give a hoot about anyone's legacy. But the folks who should have been enrolled, enlightened, empowered and enriched by mass employment public works programmes and projects will surely remember the misiadventures of their so called leaders as they pay their last respects not to the fallen but to the hunger they have been endowed with. In normal societies you will be enamoured by the sweet smell of a sea of flowers and the silence of respect and true bereavement. Here you will be assaulted by the stench of sweaty combatants and the squeals of a depraved people fighting for the crumbs of poverty.... sad. |
Zane2point4:The reason why you sin and remain alive and are able to reconect with God is because you have a powerful and brilliant attorney named Jesus Christ. Before Him you know the punishment for sin. Just look at the Old Testament. Look at what happened to David and Solomon. Read about the consequences of their sin. You will certainly not be able to serve such punishments from God today despite the fact that these men were far closer to God than most of us today. Read about the process and the price for atonement for sin in times past. Very few will be able to process that today. When we sin nowadays we just ring up our attorney and He goes to plead for us at no cost because He has subsidised it completely with His blood. BUT, BUT as He continues to appear before God with your case file time and time again His credibility on your behalf begins to wear. Romans 6: 1- 2 makes it clear that to have your attorney come before the Chief Judge is like hanging Jesus again on the cross if we are not ready to be 'dead to sin', verses 3 to 10 makes us understand that by continuing in sin we are giving power to death, verses 11 to 16 then makes it clear we have a responsibility to live for Christ and not become a 'slave' to sin which will lead to death 'of your spirit'. So to continue sinning you will be sacking your attorney and after a long while your day with death will come when you have exhausted all the grace God has made available. His grace is to give you a chance at living righteously, not a ticket to keep sinning. You have to decide sooner than later to drop sin and today can be the day your rope runs out. |
No, absolutely not. Love is not a feeling. Love is sacrifice, a state of spiritual unity with God. You cannot be in two states of the spirit at the same time. You cannot serve two masters. You must despise one, and when you sin you despise God. How can that be love. You are giving up nothing to show you love. |
Doesn't matter if you will not be distracted like while praying in your closet you can adopt any posture but in public the untamed eyes is apt to lead the mind about and to engage the soul to speak to God you need a rock steady mind. Some having trained their minds deeply with the spirit can pray in any circumstance. Their mind, soul and spirit are practically one. |
Of course they are because we are not running a proper democracy where the people matter. If not the choice is stark for anyone nursing future ambitions that now is the time to start distancing oneself from a goverment that is lost at sea and take sides with the people for posterity. Despite being a senior democrat and ex-president Barack Obama distanced himself from Bill Clinton in the run up to the elections he won because he didn't need the Clinton baggage. Boris Johnson stepped away from May who herself gave Cameron a wide berth. Prominent Republicans are beginning to step away from Trump as he flounders with Covid 19 and Black Lives Matter. If citizen vote matters the lacklustre Buhari presidency is supposed to be a danger to Tinubu's own ambitions and he should begin to distance himself from it not identifying strongly with it and speaking out to offer alternate ideas where opportuned because silence will mean acquiesence. But we know the citizens donot matter, all institutions belong to the presidency and his successor can be named today if the President so wishes, so everyone has to be politically correct despite the mess the country presently is in. |
He is free to run. He just needs to recognise the liberties of the electorate to choose whoever they wish to lead them and recognise the rights of others to contest alongside him. He neither owns anyone nor any institution of state. |
I will not disregard it. You lots are all selfish, corrupt racketeers. Sit down and 'think of your sins'.... |
adioolayi:Then strengthen your corporate governance and oversight structures, simple. It appears we are back to the fire sale mentality of the Nigerian Customs, the bane of the black man. If he cannot solve a problem he destroys everything. Close borders because of rice and here shut down the free flow of international finances because of the MTN type indiscretion. Is this wise? |
linearity:You know what they say about a body of water that doesn't flow...it soon begins to stink. Our currency exchange regime and currency movement policy will keep us in penury until we quit foolishness. |
blackTaliban:Don't mind them. It is the rush to the basement mentality of failures. Instead of solving problems they stoke sentiments and hide the skeletons. Little do they know that the business world has its own habit of sentiment. Sentiment that makes success attractive and failure contagious. Watch as those who were sitting on the fence head for the doors too as quickly as a badly run bank looses its capital in a flash. |
adioolayi:Oga. If you go to Ghana or Togo to establish a business and cannot bring back your profits to Nigeria or worst still your capital or God forbid the loans you took to establish it, what will you do?. The ability to move your resources at will is key to the ease of doing business and is fundamental to foreign investment. In a nutshell if you make it hard for capital to go out it will be hard to come in. That is not rocket science, it is common sense and that is why the only group of investors willing to do anything with us are the Lebanese, Indians and Chinese, a group not known for ethical practices. And no country can do without foreign investments, no country has all the human, monetary and material resources to develop independently. |
sassysure:Of course. Everything we said will happen is happening. Lesson for all. Support institutions not individuals. Look out for the good of the whole country and have peace. |
leaculpa:And how does this affect those who voted him into office with the hope of making their lives better. The public is not interested one bit in his personal achievements. It is not a beauty contest but a call to sacrifice and service. That is the legacy we the people will yardstick. The rest is left to his family, hangers-on and fans who scramble for crumbs off his table. If he was worthy there will be mass mourning. You simply cannot fake that and cannot force people to like or appreciate those they consider inconsequential to their existence, prospects or future. Our expectations of the leaders we elect to goverment remains far too low. |
EMDIEY:Commercial layers produce sterile eggs. They will not hatch. |
And what is the gain of the ordinary citizen aka the common man in all of this. To all those yakking above.... what is your gain.... nothing. Just primitive, sectional, ethnocentric, juvenile bric-bats that cannot add any value to anyone. Fighting over people who donot give a hoot about you. Folks in other climes view politicians (who in most cases do perform better) with suspicion in the least and outright derision at the worst. Here our pastime is to ignore their shortcomings, excuse their failures amd worship their ineptitude. Is there a surprise left to consider why we are at the bottom of most indices for life and reasonable living. Poor quality citizenship simply cannot expect a better run country. No be curse. |
And they say you are brilliant when you become a fraudster. Then why can't you anticipate the end game that you will eventually be caught and determine a plan to clean up the dirt and become legit.... Because fraud is a chief demonic spirit, the oldest amongst the fallen angels and was the key to messing up man in the Garden of Eden. It will not let you go once you invite it your life. It will destroy creativity, perseverance, patience, kindness, hope, love, every single attribute of God that makes a man victorous in life will appear and become worthless to a fraudster. He becomes short-sighted, impatient, hard hearted and tunnel visioned. He feels caged like an animal and will view legitimate work, relationships and living as hopeless. Fresh starts without Christ will be worse than taking a man off narcotics. Folks, don't get involved in fraud. It will core out your brain of any positive virtue. It will destroy your life permanently leaving you helpless and hopeless long after the law must have set you free. |
See what feudalism can cause. Democratic decisions taken by the few at the expense of the many. Told you folks to flee such things and embrace institutionalization where power is through a revolving door... where those who seek it must bow down and fear the 'we the people'. Political power lesson 1: It is far easier to dethrone a monarchy than a democracy. Strong men politics is inherently unstable and gravely risky. It can be as attractive as a woman's stiletto but you cannot run fast with it and certainly cannot get very far. |
What sort of country consumes and destroys its best... What kind of nonsense is this.... |
finnacle2020:Abi oh. |
jidamsel43:The Vice President doesn't need to be in that NEC meeting if the President is there. We should prioritise governance. The country is more important than its politics. |
tope777:Failed citizen who doesn't realise the immense power he has as an employer of these people when he is enlightened enough to make the right choices at the polls. When we cast aside sentiment we empower ourselves to ride them. Divisions and the inability to congregate common values has weakened the citizenry and subjected them to the kind of humiliation described by your position. Happy they fight each other indeed... just sad. Tell an American this.... |
Nigerians should inculcate the habit of physical fitness at all times and shed those extra pounds. Don't live carelessly. |
What nonense is that. Political parties are institutions by their own rights and belong to no one individual or interest groups. They are simply vehicles for driving an ideology into power and should not be hijacked by anti democratic or feudal forces. If any individual wants to contest for power he subscribes to the party ideology. If he suceeds he serves out his term and makes way for others, if he fails he equally makes way for others. No hanging around formenting trouble in between. We will never develop with this primitive system of politics we play. Democracy needs to breathe to survive, a breathe of new ideas only the cycle of youth can bring. The rot we see in society today is partially caused by the endless recycling of old hands with expired ideas and failed ideologies. Selfish politicians way beyond their sell by dates. You don't see George Bush, William Clinton or Tony Blair hanging around playing strong man, kingmaker or Don Corleone. Where do we get this nonsense from. |
.... Battle of the Godfathers, reminiscent of the Sicilian mob warfare of the 70's to the 90's. Let us see who will be the last 'Don' standing.... .... not saying the APC is the mob, but.... I leave you to think it out..... |
Only Jesus can bring the peace man constantly runs away from Him to find. I will always say this: The hardest decisions in life which revolve around relationships are best made by God. Only Him can see what we cannot and anticipate events we can never contemplate. Have Him on your side and enjoy a lifetime of peace. Folks, there is just no substitute for a God centered life. |
Mediocre club. Instead of sacking Luis and asking for a refund. |
Indeed, governor Wike, indeed. What will be your selling point at the next general elections I wonder. Poor performance as main opposition. Not ready to take over at the centre. |
A thread opened to critique the history of racism in British schools is instantly hijacked and dominated by local racists who have infested every thread with hate and Nazi era superiority tripe. Folks, before black lives will matter to whites, it must first matter to fellow blacks. |
NettyNelly:Yes, he should. The military is not civil society and is not run as a democracy. He will be court-martialed and likely dismissed. No military will tolerate this. An American Naval Captain of an aircraft carrier (for that matter) faces similar action over a leaked memo complaining about the US Navy's handling of the Covid 19 outbreak aboard his ship. This soldier is a danger to his colleagues, superiors and the Army. No one will entrust him ever again with a weapon or deploy him on anny operation where he can compromise the mission and the lives of his colleagues. The military has well laid down channels of complaints and superior officers and supervising rank and file do entertain views during briefings. If he is not satisfied with the way the Army is run he is free to resign. Having said that, those who can, should and are constitutionally protected to speak out, the citizens share responsibility for the degeneration in the security situation by not objectively opposing the structure, administration and operations of our security architecture. The citizens of Nigeria have collectively failed these young men and women who constantly put themselves in harm's way so we can carry on our lives in peace by the familiar divisions of tribe, religion and background instead of a unity of purpose along the objectives of good governance. We all owe them an apology. This man has sacrificed his career and freedom having risked his life for country in the first place. A real pity. |
Let each State decide whether it is prepared to open up. Any State that decides to relax travel should be prepared for a surge in cases particularly hub States for commerce, transport and industry. |
