thelastPope: Dont mind the ACN. They are only good at talking trash. When they went on rampage and denigrated and insulted the late sage's wife, HID Awolowo, they didnt think it will have consequences? Some fools came on here to support the Tinubu madness. Now they will have to live with the backlash. It is very lame to blame all their problems on GEJ. Very petty.

They forgot that they only got overwhelming votes in Lagos and Osun during the last election. So their propaganda that PDP and other parties are no longer relevant in the southwest is nothing but lies. They will surely loose Oyo and Ogun in the next election. Ekiti will be a tough contest if Fayose runs. Let them keep blaming PDP for their foolishness. angry

Apart from Baba Fasehun, who else was at the meeting convened at Century Hotel?

Where did Baba Fasehun get the financial resources to register and fund a political partyhuh

Baba may have conceptualized and founded OPC. the truth however, is that he has lost political control of the organization to his younger and more dynamic assistant, Ganiyu Adams. Ganiyu Adams enjoys the patronage of the godfather of South Western politics, Tinubu. Therefore, except if this is a grandplan of Tinubu to ensure the PDP snag the Southwest region in 2015, (at presidential level)I do not see how this "UPN" kite will fly.

I may be wrong. smiley

So this Samini sha copied the Alingo beat, lyrics and dance to diss P-Square! he even went as far as using clips from the original Alingo video. From where I stand, that is copyright infringement. I hope he has their permission to do that sha. If he doesn't, P'Square should get their lawyers all over his behind and make some money off him.

I do not understand what his anger is exactly. Azonto is a popular dance that originated in Ghana. P-Square modified it and called it Alingo. I am not aware of any dispute that has arisen about the origin of Azonto that would warrant this unnecessary aggression.

IMHO, Samini is just trying to stir up beef to cash-in on P-Square's popularity. I hope P-Square do not grant his wish by distinguishing him with a response.

The only constant things we receive in that area from PHCN are the exorbitant bills that never fail to come. As it stands now, the only thing that would be news to us would be if the minister informed Nigerians that there would be no sun light because angels were carrying out maintenance work.

Dr. Fredrick Fasehun

By Sheriff Balogun

Leader and founder of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, Wednesday vowed to restore sanity back to the country’s political space as he revived the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), founded by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in the Second Republic.

According to him, a credible political association such as UPN would serve as a reliable, focused, people-oriented vehicle that the promoters of UPN would use to restore sanity to the political space, beginning with the South-west.

Fasehun in a statement shortly after the party’s committee meeting in Lagos, said: “One reason for our collective disappointment is that unlike many democracies of the world, government in Nigeria has failed to make the citizens the centrepiece of governance.”

He added that UPN had come to provide such a credible platform, noting that the party would meet the true yearnings of Nigerians for quality education, free health for all, a functional transportation system, rural-urban integration and mass housing.

“There is real danger for the country and we cannot continue to fold our arms and watch politicians run the country aground through profligacy and corruption.

“From all indications, Nigeria will not survive beyond 2014 as a country, unless Nigerians rise up to evolve good political platforms and traditions,” he said.

He recalled that UPN was founded in 1978 by the late Awolowo and was a popular party in the South-west until 1983 when it was proscribed along with other parties in the wake of the coup led by Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

He said before its proscription, election results in the Second Republic showed that the UPN was the dominant party in the South-west; was popular in the old Mid-West, now comprising Edo and Delta States  and the then North central, especially in Kwara State, where it won the governorship seat.

Lagos assembly probes ministry over demolition

The Lagos State House of Assembly has summoned the Commissioners for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Environment and the Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau in the state over the demolition of some houses in Eregbushi, Epe.

Honourable Segun Olulade, who raised the motion under Matters of Urgent Public Importance during a plenary session, explained that he received a call from Odo-Eregbushi informing him of the demolition exercise despite the fact that investigation on the issue was going on in the assembly.

Olulade added that “Stay of Action” order had earlier been issued to the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development through its commissioner, Mr Toyin Ayinde.

The chairman of the Committee on Physical Planning, Honourable Mufutau Egberongbe, also stated that deliberation was adjourned till the 13th of March for the matter to be concluded only for the ‘Stay of Action’ pronouncement to be ignored and the demolition carried out.

Honourable Sanai Agunbiade, who also contributed to the issue, suggested that henceforth all ‘Stay of Action’ pronouncements should be made in written form to serve as verifiable evidence. He added that the Ministries of Physical Planning, Environment and Lands Bureau should meet and agree on a unifying demolition move and work as a single body and report back to the Assembly.

The Speaker of the assembly, Honourable Adeyemi Ikuforiji, however, noted that some of the Certificates of Occupancy being paraded by some of the petitioners were obtained illegally. He, nonetheless, directed that the concerned commissioners should appear before the assembly to shed more light on the issue. They are to appear before the assembly next Tuesday.

Sports › Re: Yobo Blasts Keshi Over Kenya Snub by Reptyle(m): 3:50pm On Apr 02, 2013
joseph1013: Fresh crises seems brewing in camp of Nigeria’s national team as Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo has come out openly to condemn Coach Stephen Keshi for failing to intimate him before leaving him out of the team that played against Kenya’s Harambee Stars in a World Cup qualifying match some days back in Calabar.

Yobo in an interview with Brila Fm Sports radio on Tuesday morning insists Coach Keshi was disrespectful for not giving him any prior notice before his non-invitation for last month's 2014 FIFA W/Cup qualifier against Kenya.

"I'm disappointed nobody called me before the team list (vs Kenya) was announced. It's disrespectful. I feel disrespected."

The Fenerbahce of Turkey defender continued, "I am the captain of the Super Eagles, I thought the coach should have put a call across to me. I have no problem being left out."

The Super Eagles escaped with a 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifying match after a last minute gasp effort from Italy-based Nnamadi Oduamadi saved Nigeria from an embarrassing defeat at home.

When Odewingie complained on social media about getting to hear about his exclusion from the nation's cup team in the media instead of from his coach, Yobo was one of the first persons to call him out publicly, calling him childish and immature. i wonder what he has to say for himself now that he also seems to be complaining about the same kind of treatment.

Business › Re: Illegal Third Party Withdrawal From My Account by Reptyle(m): 5:06pm On Mar 26, 2013
virtuoso01: I don''t actually know where to post this, but since it has to do with money I decided to post it here. But sincerely I need help and advice concerning this issue:

At exactly 11:23 am this morning I received a text on my phone that 1,450 Naira has been debited from my account. Reason, that I made a POINT OF SALE PURCHASE on Konga.com.

When I saw this I was not really bothered and that I would later go to the bank myself to rectify the mistake.

At 11:50am I received another alert of another transaction. This time 2,000 Naira was debited from another POINT OF SALE PURCHASE on pinreload.com.

Then I started getting worried, so I brought out my ATM Card to be sure and sure enough my card was still with me.

At exactly 11:54 am another message came in. 2,000 Naira debited also due to a POS transaction on pinreload.com.

Now I was very, very alarmed so I quickly stopped my business transaction taking place at that moment and jumped on the next bike I could find, my destination, the nearest GT Bank branch so as to block my ATM Card before the thief decided to use my money to buy something pricey.

On my way to the bank, I received another alert. 2,000 Naira on pinreload.com.

Luckily the nearest GT Bank branch was not too far so I got there within two minutes, but the queue was too long so I literally had to force my way into the bank. While I was doing this another alert came in, another 2,000 Naira.

Inside the bank at the Customer Care desk the queue was much longer, so I had to really persuade the guy at the desk to give me express service. In the process another text came in, 2,000 Naira also from pinreload.com. This convinced him and he quickly blocked my ATM Card which I was holding.

After blocking my ATM Card I asked him to help me to trace from where the transaction was taking place but he told me that I should come back for that for that will take some time.

In total 11,450 Naira was deducted from my account.

Then I called GT Connect to see if those transactions could be reversed and was told that it was not possible. She told me that she noticed that I withdrew from an ATM at computer village last friday, that I must be extra careful in places like that.

The problem that I have is that I do not think that I am willing to reactivate my ATM, in fact I am now very much afraid of that little plastic.

And please does anybody know how it is possible for somebody to just get my details and then use it for online transactions. I dont do online transactions and my ATM card is always with me.

Please I need answers fast not only for myself but for the tens of millions of Nigerians who could also be victims.
Na wah o!

You need to be very careful where you use your ATM cards and what websites you enter your details into. Also, you need to have GTbank helpline and probably your account officer's phone number saved on speed dial on your phone. You can easily block your ATM and even stop a cheque with a single phone call.

I wish he hadn't written his last publication before his death. In my opinion, that is the only blight on an otherwise illustrious career. There are some stories that need to go to the grave with the story teller especially one that has bestowed the world with his extraordinary sagacity over the decades.

A lot is wrong with this country as is presently and we do not need anyone reminding us of a past best forgotten.

austinsmat: anybody that support amnesty to boko haram is a devil and a murderer, and all the blood of innocent soul that was shed by boko haram will be on him or her
I support amnesty for boko haram because I am convinced that is the ONLY FEASIBLE way out of this quagmire. I am neither a devil nor a murderer. I just believe that enough innocent blood has been shed and we cannot afford to lose more while the government and it's Ill-trained and Ill prepared army grope around in the dark claiming phantom victories over the terrorists and "condemning" the act when the next bomb goes off.

Now until somebody here or elsewhere suggest to me any order idea beyond the usual puerilistic "divide Nigeria" position, I am for dialogue with the terrorists.
Politics › Re: All Ministers Must Be PDP Members - Tukur by Reptyle(m): 4:03pm On Mar 20, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: I'm with Bamanga Tukur on this one. Even those technocrats who were not politicians before joining the govt should atleast register in their respective wards as PDP members and participate PDP meetings.

There has to be some sort of balancing of roles because without the hardwork of the politicians to win elections, the so called technocrats will have no govt to run. Also without the input of technocrats after an election has been won, the govt may not perform to the extent of having a good chance in subsequent elections.

Therefore, the so called apolitical technocrats should find away to participate in partisan politics, even if in little ways. Also the politicians should not hesitate to bring into their govt any deserving technocrat, even if apolitical at the time. The politicians should also endeavour to improve and technocratise themselves.
Now what kind of warped reasoning is this one now? undecided

bubadaniel13: Why some people like you see Amnesty as the best option,do you think the Boko Haram have any agenda apart from wrecking havoc on innocent people and planning to islamise the the whole north, maybe you have not been following this people, they are hell bent on making this country ungovernable,as far as i am concern the govt has done well in curtailing them if not they would have done worst,we must all rise against them,i am not a pessimist but amnesty is not even an option.
I only reason along the lines of a pragmatic and practical solution in line with the reality on ground to wit, THIS IS A WAR THAT THE NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES CANNOT WIN!!! Yes, a few terrorists are captured or killed but the truth is that majority of the victims of the military campaign in Northeastern Nigeria are innocent civilians. They are caught in the middle of a war of attrition and getting picked up as trophies by both sides.

Rising up against them is a good option; but you know that that is unlikely to happen in this country right? We simply lack the guts to do that because we love and value our lives. this people who we are dealing with do not value theirs. So tell me how you intend to deal with a man who is not afraid to die.

silica: yesterday, the lives of over 25 innocent Nigerians from all parts of this country, were caught short by a suicide bomber in Kano. The man drove a Volks Wagon car loaded with explosive into the luxury bus park during the evening rush hour. what the barbaric killer failed to tell us is what he wants for which these innocent men, women and children must die. Interestingly, some persons are still calling for amnesty for them and the opposition is busy politicising the matter. for all we know, it could have been any of us reading this or our loved ones. Do these men deserve amnesty for their continued killing of innocent Nigerians?
Don't just knock people who are asking for amnesty for these criminals....come up with your own brighter idea. People who are championing the call for amnesty are doing so in response to the fact that the Nigerian military does not seem to have a hang of the situation. The nation is immersed in an intractable war in the north and innocent civilians are getting shot and blown to bits by bombs.

As unpalatable as the amnesty option sounds, it seems like the best option open to the government for now.

Banning all these airlines and suspending others...soon Nigerians will begin to pay 100k and above for a return ticket to Abuja on Arik Air...at least until they record a crash. Then we punish them with a ban and throw thousands of Nigerians out of jobs. Then we wait for the next crash so we can keep up the same bizarre cycle. Like someone mentioned earlier, the next crash will not be a Dana Air flight so be very wary of that local flight you are paying a premium to get on.

In other news, more airports are scheduled to be shut down and repainted as part of the FG's drive to restore the confidence of the traveling public...
