Doctorazz: Hi all, been dating this guy for almost over 5yrs ,hes very hot tempered&verbally abusive,at the slightest provocation he calls me names eg fool etc etc he's precently waiting for ajob to click.i visit him most weekends to keep him company since hes bored most of the time,he always looks for one fault in me or the other, when i leave esp for work in d morning after being with him, hestarts sending me messages of what i did thats wrong, and what i ddnt do etc.he teaches me how to cook to his satisfaction ,and if i make a suggestion,he gets mad at me and starts calling me all sorts of names, most times because hes so particular i always ask Him how he wants a particular food cooked, cos if one thing is put before another and its not the way he does it,he wont eat the food again.even times when i make a suggestion and he refuses,i do what he says yet when i go,he'll send me abusiv messages saying" why did i want to do it dat way,am i a fool etc etc and a quarell ensues, despite doing it his way.hes pushed me severally and i fear he may be physically abusive too.Anything i tell him about myself,he uses it against me when next we quarell, please i need advice, the most embarassing thing now is,wev been engaged for a year and from the look of things we may be breaking up very soon,iv been wearing his ring all along, how do i go through the shame of not getting married to him despite evry1 knowing us together? If what you've written is true..........then in your own interest.....EXIT the relationship ASAP. If you marry this boy..........you are in deep Poo!!! |
In no particular order 1. smart and intelligent 2. beautiful 3. hardworking and industrious 4. friendly and easy to please 5. trustworthy 6. believer |
alexiump: its high time we stop crawling in life. Get on ur fit bcux d track is 2 narrow 2 accommodate many. Cal alex when u re in need of a God fearing moltivational speak and an impact maker in life. 08176468385This guy wants to MULTIVATE my staff. He is a MOLTIVATIONAL SPEAK. |
abbeydot: Salam everyone,That is the irony in Islamic Banking / Finance. In it's strictest form, fixed deposit is not allowed as the depositor is earning interest on an investment. Islamic banking is clearly against earning any form of fixed interest or any interest for that matter. But in my opinion, whether you call it interest or profit.......it is simply an addition to your investment. So i believe Islamic banking is not different from the conventional banking.....its just a case of changing names while the substance is the same. |
Beef......you are the biggest ODE on Nairaland. What do you know abour solar energy? How come it is the least used source of energy? Since you can see opportunities in solar energy, why don't you make money from the opportunities rather than waiting for handouts from GEJ. Only God knows how you will survive by the time GEJ and people like you completely ruin this country. |
azpekuliar: This has for long puzzled me. Why do motorists in Lagos drive around with their head lamps on. And I mean regular motorists, not a VIP convoy. I can understand if its done on a hazy day, rainy day but in clear day light and with perfect driving conditionslol!!! |
glowithdan: It is gradually becoming a way of life here in Nigeria with the way we insult our president. We thought Yaradua was slow............but we found out that GEJ is STAND STILL. GEJ deserves every insult that has been rained on him. He holds the title of the worst Nigerian president as at today..........even OBJ is BY FAR better than him. We are completely disappointed and i am ashamed to refer to him as my president. |
phonebook: hello house.pls how do i remove d 'okirika' smell from clothing.Add dettol or izal in water and use to wash the clothes. The smell will completely disappear. |
Now i know........without an iota of doubt.......that Nigeria is BROKE!!! No wonder they wanted to increase fuel price to fund their recklessness. |
OP......great thread. I absolutely agree with your points, 7 and 8 most especially. I know someone with two degrees..........one a third class.......the other a first class. How did that happen? He did not follow the rules (though he knew them) in the first one......and the result......a third class degree. He learnt and followed the rules in the second one.....the result? a first class degree. One more point you did not add......although it might not be for everyone........TEACH some of your friends what you have learnt. Understanding is enhanced when you teach. |
samnix1: @poster, please show us a better job around, and thank God u even commended the Tiwa's track wc was produced by that same Don that u said should have done better, he is a don in the industry, U either like him and accept it, or not and listen to danfo driver "sureeeee"Oga, I'm not d Original poster...... |
gaffer: This album better than d previous onesYou joking.......right ![]() ? |
ndidibabe: Please ask him again. He took his time to listen to all the tracks and even pointed the flops. Did he say Don Baba? He isnt a fan, for real..You are a funny person o. I don't care about dbanj or don jazy and it is not about who will survive. My point is.......this is way below the previus songs donjazy had produced in d past........I guess its prob because he rushed the album. So I still say dat the album is below expectation. |
toideve: Are u sure ur not a fan of any?I am not a fan of any. I was d first 2 download d whole album @ wrk....I even invited my peeps @ wrk to listen......knowing Don Jazy.....my expectations where high. This album is nowhere near Mohits All Stars CV. I believe it is a rushed job. Hopefully.......I'l get to like the songs as I listen more. But its far below my expectation. |
I am not a fan of any..........but truth be told..........that album is Poo. Rushed job........nothing spectacular......boring songs..........Don Baba should have don a better job. |
First off........it is unacceptable for a 'wife to be' to tell her 'husband to be' to go and borrow money for a wedding ceremony. The ideal thing to do is to cut your coat according to your size. I doubt if i'll remain with ANY woman that makes such a suggestion. Secondly, where i come from, it is the woman AND HER FAMILY that is the host of the wedding ceremony so they should ideally foot the bill. This is to let the husband understand that he is not picking a wife from a family that does not have some honor. The husband and his family may (but they almost always do) contribute so as not to overburden the bride's family and also to ensure that their own guests are well catered for. Of course, it is the responsibility the husband to take care of the wife after the wedding......but a wise woman would also want to contribute to building her home......so that she can confidently claim a stake.....and not be taken granted by the husband. For me, I will not spend money that i don't have on any ceremony. I owe my wife and her family the engagement items that is requested for. I also owe her her wedding gown, outfits and probably the wedding cake. After that, whatever i do is not an obligation. It must be based on a proper cost benefit analysis. Whoever wants a big and grand wedding (my family or her's) should be willing to pay for it. I regard the OP as selfish and very inconsiderate. You want to get married and start thinking of how to pay debts Even after you know that he just paid for an apartment. Do you know how much it costs to rent and renovate? would you prefer he spends ALL his money on the wedding then you guys start looking for where to live? |
Well............ It is not absolutely true that poverty is a choice.....but then....some people have chosen to be poor buy their actions or in-actions. I'll give two instances that i personally noticed. 1. There's this junior staff in my office.....he earns way less than i do. One day, i mentioned the name of the hair cream i use.....and he was asking why i would be using such a cheap hair cream. I was like..........what ![]() My conclusion was that.....despite the fact that he does not earn a lot, he spends money on stuffs that i would consider unnecessary. The funny thing is that he usually asks for loans when the month is about to end. This means he spends all his money, and hardly saves any. This sort of people usually wait for the big break that might never come. even if it does, their appetite to spend increases, and the cycle continues. 2. I know a woman that usually helps people clean their homes and she earns a reasonable sum from doing that. One day, she tells one of her clients that she's stopping the job. Reason, her son just bought a car, and her neighbors will say.....her son just bought a car and she cleans people's homes. In both cases, i believe the two individuals have chosen to be poor. |
Imo obot: The fact that banks are using contract staffs in a bid to marginalize their profit ratio this days can not be over emphasize. If you are not satisfied with the terms of employment...........then don't take the offer. |
Joke of the century!! This Ngama guy wants to take over Ali Baba's job. I don't care about the figures being brandished. The reality is that the economic situation of Nigerians is not getting better. 3rd fastest growing economy my foot. Go and tell that to the hungry Nigerians roaming the streets and looking for how to make a living. |
This is not a cultural or geographical issue, it is an individual issue. Gone are the days where the man's money is our money while the woman's money is her money. These days, even in Nigeria, there is usually a sort of collaboration. A lot of young couples combine their earnings and pay for the household expenses together. @ OP, Your partner needs to wake up. Things are different now.........and even Naija boys in Nigeria don't want liabilities. She probably thinks you are one rich London boy. In addition, she has lots of wrong people advising her. |
One of the most insightful threads I've seen on Nairaland. Kudos to the OP. |
dudu boy: Sharp man abi na boy, after going thru da posts, na u be da biggest and only fool hereSo sad |
dudu boy: Fools, una just come here de open una dirty mouths de talk s**t..na people like una go sell dis country because una get wetin una want. So dey should use da fact of unemployment to their advantage abi? FoolsUnfortunately............you are the fool here. |
dmainboss: You are sooooo wrong and seriously, you sound like a self righteous deluded perfectionist. You imagine you live in a eutopia I guess. Please wake up to reality. You cannot pay people salaries that cannot meet their basic needs and expect them to render good service. These people are given targets to meet. If they don't meet it, they get fired. Tell me how they can meet it if their take home pay cannot take them home? And for you to talk about MTN paying more than they can afford? You kidding right? MTN broke even in ome year. Have you ever seen a business plan that makes a one year break even projection? You are actually the one that needs a hot slap to wake up. I have worked for N10,000 before and this was after i spent five years in the university studying a five year course. The pay was really bad but i took it because of the experience i would get. I did not go about grumbling and cursing my employer. The experience i had happen to be the foundation for my current career path and i am pleased with the progress i have made. The point is.........when you take a job, it means you have accepted the offer that has been made to you. If you don't like the offer, then don't take it. Why should you take it then accuse your employer of slave labor?? Did he/she tie a chain around you? By the way, i can work for free. There are some organizations that i want their experience badly. If they are willing to take me, i can invest 6 months of my time working for them. |
Seun, Great job. The new Nairaland works well on my blackberry. It feels like i am browsing on my computer. |
teskyg: @ Sharp man, your comment is not related to the situation at hand.maybe you run a company with that mindset and you can share the experience of what such practice has added to the bottom line of your business. You don't seem to understand me. I am an employee but i do not believe my employer owes me. I take it that i render a service and the amount to be paid was mutually agreed. I believe i am underpaid but i don't blame it on my employer.....i blame myself. so if i want a better pay, i either renegotiate or withdraw my service and take it elsewhere. The idea that because you spent five years in the University so u must be paid a certain amount is just wrong. You are paid based on the value you add to the organization. Better still, you are paid based on the value YOUR EMPLOYER thinks you add to the organization. So if i want more, i simply develop myself to increase my capacity to earn more. I also ensure that i add real and verifiable value to the organization i work for. Note that i am not saying the pay is okay.....i for one CANNOT take that. i was merely responding to the quote in my first comment. |
Abba j: sharpman pple like you are reasons dis country is poo, im ashamed of ur commentYou are joking right?? why are you ashamed?? You want to be paid a fat salary..........while the owner of the business, that took all the risk.....and will take ALL the losses if the business is not profitable.....worry about paying you. If you really want to practice what you preach........just start your own organization..........and pay salaries you cannot afford. NOBODY owes you anything. You render a service and you get paid. If you don't like the pay, then don't render your service. |
doctokwus: That is one of d most unfortunate comments I ever heardWell..........it might be unfortunate to you...........but it's the simple truth. NO organization will pay more than the value it believes you add to bottom-line. After all, the business is not a charity organization. If YOU, as a prospective employee, is not satisfied with what you are being offered, the sensible thing to do is to REJECT the offer, rather than accepting it and grumbling afterwards. |
ojietu: 22.5% of #35,000 that will make it a total of about #42,875, that is still unacceptable, the office shutt down should continue, GBAMM.You should consider opening your own company and paying your staff as much as they want. |
jen_ny: Hi All,I'll advise you look for the 230k (it's now 280k) and finalize your ICAN membership. The info i have now is that the Direct Membership course that will hold in April will be the last. I believe that ICAN wants to stop the direct membership program. The implication is that you may need to write exams to gain ICAN membership. So you do not have the luxury of waiting to be buoyant. Whether you need the ICAN qualification depends on the type of job you do. If you want to have a career in Public Practice, meaning you want to eventually own your Audit firm that is empowered by law to carry out Statutory Audit, then you need a local qualification that is recognized. ACCA is not but ICAN is. |
