But rejection is rejection - YOU AREN'T WANTED by a power outside of yourself - so since I haven't experienced a male's rejection - I still experienced a rejection that was depressing.

I want you to do me a favor - keep my name out of your mouth, don't speak it, think it, type it.  Don't address me in any way, shape or form and I will do the same with you.

But I have been rejected by employers - prior to choosing self-employment

That rejection hurt - it made me feel unwanted, I remember feeling confused mostly because I didn't know what I did wrong so I could work on correcting it.

My references were A-1; my skills and experience - top of the line. So it left me confused and frustrated. I answered that by pushing thoughts out of my head and continued to strive and push through it and stay positive.

Once you live a little - and you choose to live without this woman you sound like you really enjoy - ask yourself this,

If you send her away so you can feel "justified" that you have done the right thing "according to what you have been taught" that life is about.

Substitution sits wrong with me

If you are in the wrong - male or female - there is nothing like a genuine apology

If someone owes me an apology and instead substitutes that apology with an act of kindness - I would wonder their motive.

If I can't get an apology and kindness simultaneously - then I would prefer they keep the kindness and give me the apology.

I dealt with someone in the past who did this very thing and they did it all the time - instead of apologizing, instead they would extend flowers, attentive listening skills [pretence of being engrossed with my every word], rub my back, long hugs, etc, from experience I can say that gets old really, really quick and is just a bottomless pit that never ends.  The bad behavior becomes more and more frequent especially since apologies also represent discussing the behavior.  It's like a syndicate member killing someone and going to church to say "hail mary" and just continues with the killing with no real remorse.
