FunkyAlhaji2015: Let me educate you a little. A house officer in Nigeria is what is referred to as an intern in the U.S. and other countries.
Hospitals in other climes are not mandated to pay interns a fixed amount as it was the case in Nigeria. Hospitals are not obligated to pay interns, they might do this at their owe volition. Intact, in the U.S., interns (house officers) pay to enter the training.
We in Nigeria choose to bastardise everything in our country because we can.
The head of civil service, the Labour minister and the Health minister are all medical doctors, they know better and have risen up to do the right thing.
Lawyers in Nigeria do their own intern program too during Law School, they do not demand to be paid. There's nothing like house officer in USA. Internship in USA is the first year of resident training. And yes...they are paid and it's mandatory with average salary of $50,000. https://www.indeed.com/career-advice/pay-salary/how-much-does-a-surgical-intern-make |

And pls b4 u get busy with Google...make sure u know the difference btw house officer, an intern and a resident as it applies to different countries. |

Benwems: Nursing practitioners are basically in the USA where they run their clinics and diagnose and treat. You seen to be the person jealous here because I clearly stated that Nigerian consultants in the UK studio to medicine (MBBS) in the UK. Find out and get your facts right. Nigerian doctors doing GP in UK are mostly the ones who get employed from Nigeria here through work agencies in the Uk. They are mostly or not always given GP and emergency and they sign contracts too. So get your facts right.
And Hell NO, I’m not jealous of anybody. My dad is a medical doctor and two of my sisters are doctors. One in Nigeria the other in USA. I’m an engineer and I’m in the UK. I love engineering and it was my dream to always be an engineer. I justly speak the truth and state obvious facts. U know nothing about about the healthcare system other than what jealous folks like yourself tell u. Nursing practitioners exist in uk and I've worked with them. The largest percentage of black doctors in uk are foreign trained. Black British rarely get to study medicine when compared to Asians and whites...that's a topic for another day. So u should be grateful nigerian trained doctors are helping to change the negative stereotypes of blacks in the global scene as regards professional career. |

Benwems: You are the person misinforming people And you the person talking trash. Registrars on night shift are not meant to go to bed. No talking trash. It is because an average Nigerian is gullible that is the reason you doctors and people Brian wash them. Your talking of registrars becoming consultants, they learn from their consultants, as questions, read their books, consultants explain to them the diagnosis and prognosis with time the gather sufficient experience with the number of cases they have seen. Write required exams and if they pass become consultants. I will not argue with you. My father is a medical doctor from Germany. He’s a consultant and a professor. I’m not talking out of ignorance. I have also been to India and seen how their health system is run. Lying that resident doctors are the driving force of the health world wide is a big lie. People go to specialist for consultation not registrars. What happens is that there is usually 1-2 registrars with the consultant Learning from the specialist. It’s only in Nigeria , people consultant registrars because the consultants have refused to come to work. In the consulting room, it’s usually you and the specialist. You can even politely tell the consultant that you want some privacy that you want the registrar to leaving and the registrar will leave. I have done the twice. No big deal. It’s in the theatre that they are most needed to gain one on one experience and knowledge. Stop the lies and propaganda. Healthcare has beyond all these thinking u expressing... In advanced countries, nursing practioners see patients and run their clinic independently. Specialist nurses do routine surgical procedures like endoscopy. First contact physiotherapist now handle most non surgical orthopaedic cases. Gone are days of consultants or even doctors doing everything. Healthcare is now multidisciplinary oriented. Registrar doctors practically run the hospital. A medical registrar holds the night bleep in hospitals. He's the doctor running the show at night- emergencies, cardiac arrest, acute cases...name it. U have to be good and know your stuff to carry that bleep. Ive met a lot of nigerian medical registrars here in uk. So I dont know where u get that info that nigerian doctors in uk are not good. Besides, GP is a specialty on its own, and probably the most lucrative. U can easily pull over 150 thousands pounds in a yr if u hardworking. Its also the only specialty in uk where u can have your own practice. Maybe thats why nigerian doctors are rushing into the specialty. Your narrative is not only spurious but reeks of jealousy. I really don't understand what u have against doctors, but its unnecessary. In the 21st century, there are other professions more rewarding than doctors. Why not discover yours, rather wasting futile effort trying to bring down another noble profession. |

But just as accidents happen here...also school shootings, cinema shootings etc. Also happen there..I mean even accidents.
How many people do accidents kill on a daily in the suburbs in Nigeria? No where is perfect. Its just the wealthy sometimes have a better way and some opportunities to live better and avoid things that the poor go through on a daily.
And if they have health issues, they jet out if they like. But many of these people still usually come back. Because they feel Nigeria isn't too strict on many things for them. It's like u dont know what's medical emergency. Naija hospital still lag behind in that aspect....pray u don't fall victim, ur money won't safe u. See how coronavirus disgraced nigerian wealthy elites. They were just dropping like fowls. Even the presidency wasn't spared. Despite running to the so called 'world class' hospitals in Abuja or Lagos. Nigeria is ok to reside if u are wealthy, connected and well established. And that's more than sufficient to compensate for its inadequacy. This is what u guys should propagate for Nigerians in diaspora. Even citizens recently are complaining of the new tax policies by the new administration. What do you want to enjoy there that you can't enjoy in a place like Abj? Is it light, road e.t.c.
Everyone has their own preferences. Not everyone has to think like others who see the U.S as heaven.
When I make my examples I use saner places in Nigeria not places and slums like lagos. If u are wealthy n established in Nigeria, I see no reason why u should relocate. because if u do, ur standard of living will most likely drop. But comparing nigeria to any developed country makes no sense in all ramifications. Ordinary road traffic accident can mess u up in that country...despite all your money. Even ur President wouldn't trust his health with nigerian hospitals. Btw the op comparison of dollar earning to naira spending is very foolish. That goes to show his level of i.q |

BigBashiru: The curse of Noah upon the black race runs deep as I can see from your comments. Please see the bolded. The bolded is for black healthcare workers not healthcare workers from non-black countries. Slothfulness in duty is in the domain of black healthcare workers.... why do you think even Buhari doesnt believe in them??
As for being system failure, which system do blacks run that succeeds? NONE! Unless China comes to their help. This system failure you speak about exists only because it is run by blacks who are lackadaisical and unserious by culture. I noticed a lot of inferiority complex in your comments. Apart from western countries, public healthcare in other countries is shitty just like Nigeria. It's the same complaint of poor remuneration, inadequate facilities, non challant attitude of staffs and mediocre in built system. The system works in advanced nations because the social infrastructure is very strong and well developed. It has nothing to do with the black race. Besides I told u abacha ensured national hospital ran smoothly in the 90s. That institution was the pride of the whole nation until it was moved under ministry of health. Africa just like Asian countries function better with a top to bottom hierarchical system of govt...with the hope that the strong man at the top is a no nonsense, firm but benevolent semi-dictator. Most non western developed nations are either not practicing democracy or a quasi form of it. The above was why Nigerians voted Buhari with the hope he will use his positive ruthlessness n energy to shape nigeria in the right direction. But alas...He proved he's neither firm nor benevolent. Not to talk about his sub intelligence and his clannisih negativity. There's nothing specially wrong about Nigeria or Nigerians. We are simply not using the right form of governance to push reform and development. Democracy is not meant for non western countries. Democracy works best when the majority of the population are enlightened, middle class and well educated. This is absent in most non white countries. |

BigBashiru: Let me tell you the problem with Nigerian Healthcare system..... it has nought to do with Buhari or Governors... it has to do with the Nigerians working at the hospital; for example:
1. Oxygen in oxygen machine is supposed to be filled once a week... the nurse in charge leaves it and chats with colleagues most of the week. Instead if the doctor/boss to fire her for negligence, he considers they are from the same town and let's her stay.
2. Doctors recommend operations to patients even when they don't need operations so they can make more money....
3. Accident victims are brought to Emergency Unit. Emergency Unit workers show no sense of urgency whatsoever to save a life. The same ppl in uk don't get paid a lot yet they still show sense of urgency in emergency situations. When the emergency patient dies they either burst out laughing or say: "it's not my father's hospital I cannot come and kill myself"
So the state of the health system is due to the Nigerians working there. They are unserious. That's why ppl prefer foreign doctors, foreign hospitals etc. U not making sense at all. Nigerian healthcare problem is all about system failure. And the responsibility of govt officials is to fix the system n ensure it works. Abacha took up the challenge as head of state by building National hospital Abuja to world class in the 90s. The hospital was directly under the presidency and he made sure it had sufficient funds/facilities. He proved that Nigeria can have a world class hospital if we want to. Yardua via his wife was building a world class cancer specialist centre in Abuja b4 his demise. What has buhari done as the most powerful man in nigeria? Nothing, he doesn't care. He continues to seek medical care abroad for his prostate cancer. Healthcare workers are not saint, they will be slothful in duty if they know they can get away with incompetence and mediocrity. But when the head of the country is not even up to mediocrity standard, what do U expect. Defending buhari is getting harder by the day. But u Muslims dont mind stooping so low so u can continue with your ridiculous excuses for Buhari. Admit buhari is a failure. U won't die if u say the truth for once. |

Goel: First written languages came from Iran, Egypt or somewhere else in middleeast but first paper came from China for sure. Modern mathematical digits are Arabic numerals which are derived from Hindu numerals of Gupta empire (Indian dynasty).
Mathematics at large from digits to trigonometry and even all modern complex calculations came from India, Iran and Arabia. Even first human civilisations were invented in these countries. Chinese discovered many great things like gunpowder. But calling them as mother of invention is exaggeration. They are old as country but very new as a civilisation. Iran, Egypt, India, Egypt and Europe, all had settled when Chinese used to do tribal dance with mongols in jungles. Egypt invented papyrus, the first writing surface which is a form of paper. |

So we all have contributed money to George Floyd’s family through our taxes that indirectly funds that settlement.
Meanwhile idiot police (such as the man that killed him) get to retire with full benefits and their association is not financially impacted in any way. That’s why they’ll never stop. I think police officers should be forced to have indemnity just like doctors. When u know a percentage of your salary could be used to settle liability due to your own recklessness, I'm sure they will behave. American police officers are power drunk. They behave like a mafia boss n not civil servants. They have this arrogant attitude their actions are sacrosanct n shouldn't be questioned by the masses. Some even called for prosecution of western business men who moved factories to China- they call them traitors. As per the news... Well most foreign media outlets are virtually non existent in china. I guess BBC won't miss anything. |
Business › Re: FG Rejects IMF’s Call For Further Devaluation Of Naira by SIRTee15: 9:24am On Feb 09, 2021 |
Giantfarmer: and here again imf has given condition for their loan like remove subsidy, increasing electricity tariff and devalue the naira, all this Nigeria has been doing all for the loan.and the funny thing is that the economy is growing worse day by day I think the IMF need to understand this is not West and the fundermentals on which this policies could work is not there in Nigeria..... instead it's devastate the the whole thing The naira is already devalued. Nobody gets dollar or any other foreign currency at the official exchange rate. These has resulted in multiple parallel rates which isn't good for the country's monetary policy. What CBN needs to do is to unify all exchange rates in the country n this can only happen if they allow the naira to be officially devalued. Other measures pursued by CBN such as restricting remittance from overseas, banning Bitcoin or restricting imports are futile effort that will only expand the demand for parallel market. Nobody will exchange his dollar for 360 naira, when there's an alternative for 500. If it means travelling to cotonou to change it....people will do it. CBN is the one that should get it's monetary policy right. But u are right on one thing...IMF has no good intention for Africa. |
