I understand that most people are confused as to if they should be privacy or consent required before student doctors and nurses are allowed in. Let me bring out some pointers

1. Once you are admitted to teaching hospital, you are defautly to be attended to by the consultant and his team including student doctors
2. Funnily, you have the right to ask for privacy in a teaching hospital if you don't want. But the doctor might not ask you since it is a default thing
3. Consent must be asked if any examination or procedure is to be done irrespective of who... It can be denied even in a teaching hospital
4. No body has the right to take away your rights even if he is a professor
Having said all that, I rest my case...

The issue is not procedural consent, but should medical student and student doctors be part of the team attending to patients without the patient's consent.
Remember, it's a team with the consultant as the head.
This will always be a contentious issue irrespective of the final decision. I agree privacy and respect for patients should be upheld and enforced. But the issue of consent for training from patients should be cautiously looked into.
Nigeria is a largely conservatively society and remember 50 percent of the population are Muslims.
Training of students in teaching hospitals could be disrupted n compromised if patients decides if they want to be seen by students doctor or nurses.
Some patients may even start demanding for same sex doctors.
Already, pathology trainees in the north are not well grounded in autopsy due to the religious n cultural reasons up north. They have to travel down south to learn autopsy. So what happens if southerners also start objecting to autopsy of their relatives?
Most white people don't care about being used for training purposes so long as they are informed n their dignity is respected. This will not be the case in Nigeria.
I support consent by default. As I said earlier, a lot can be done to make the patient feel at ease, respect for dignity and privacy.

As for bankers, I don't see their own as a reliable job anyway, but they can use their experience as bankers and access to fund to kick start a high profitable business in Nigeria. Most of such people lack foresight.. Most of them got those good jobs by luck and connection, that's why they cannot make sound judgment and that's why also they are usually scared of tomorrow, they don't believe in themselves. They believe in abroad saving them from future doom.

Significant number do the wife and children relocation thing while the main applicant remain in nigeria...esp oil company workers....that's what my FIL did.
But the point remain people are leaving and has nothing to do with economic opportunities. It has more to do with future security...

Let's be real...Nigeria's future prosperity is wrapped around international crude oil price. If that thing drops to less than 20 dollars per barrel....thats the official end of Nigeria.
This country can't survive a significant drop in crude oil price...it will descend into anarchy, massive poverty, uncontrolled insecurity n possible civil war.

It's pertinent to note that black Africans in the pre colonial period who had regular contact with the rest of the world build advanced empires that could rival civilisation of other race.
Ethiopians, Somali, arjuyan, Mali, Nubian had advanced civilisation.

Now to why ancient africa empires were not as developed as their counterparts elsewhere.

What we call advanced civilisation is simply the spread of knowledge, ideas, philosophy and technology across the world.
Civilisation started in the Mesopotamian region- mainly middle east and egypt and gradually spread to other parts of the world as people migrate, empires expand, new territories discovered or conquered.

As knowledge spread, various civilisation contributed to existing ones and helped in its expansion. Science got better, mathematics improved, new technology were discovered. There were new inventions n innovation making life much better.

Unfortunately, the inhabitants of sub Sahara africa were excluded from the rest of the world because of Sahara desert which was difficult to trasverse n very hostile to travellers.
Our people were not exposed to the revolving technology in other parts of the world around that time because human migration across the Sahara wasn't almost non existence. They were not in regular contact with civilisation elsewhere and couldn't share or contribute to existing knowledge or technology.

The whites will eventually bring the knowledge to us via the sea but they had other intentions. They obviously were not interested in sharing the knowledge, they came with other agenda.

Sub africa wasn't the only one cut off from ancient knowledge, science and technology.
Native Americans, native Pacific islanders and native australians were separated from the rest of the world by water.
They didn't build any advanced civilisation because they were also not privy to the knowledge in existence at that time.
That was why when they met the white man, they suffered similar fate to black Africans. They were humiliated, subjugated, and almost wiped out.

Its important to point out that science didn't originate from the white race. Mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, astronomy were already in existence, very much advanced n were taught in schools b4 the white race emerge from their caves. Science and technology were introduced to europe via Roman empire and the black moors.

Now the question is....
while other civilisation actively encouraged spread of knowledge and allowed contribution from other race....

It's yet another one of those linear scales created by white people that mean nothing.
Take for example the BMI. A bunch of skinny, hollow-boned white people got together and determined they were going to be the pinnacle of health to which to judge everyone else...while muscle-bound ethnicities look at them laughing.

My focus is learning life skills under his parents supervision. This is good practice and should be encouraged.
Not everything that doesn't conform to white man's standard is child abuse.
A lot of children help their parents on the farm. The white man will come here and call it child labour, thereby imposing restriction on agricultrual product from africa.

But it's ok for an 8 yr old kid lifting weight...do u know that kid could suffer a serious injury to her fragile bones. Professional weightlifters do get fractures despite their training not to talk of an 8 yr old kid. That's the definition of child abuse.

Assisting your parents is not apprenticeship. I started ff my mum to her chemist shop right from 8 yrs. I wasn't under any form of apprenticeship, but I assisted her in the shop to clean, arrange supplies, do mini errands n sometimes serve customers under her supervision. I was in primary 5.

So long as that child is under the supervision of her parents, not in form of harm or carrying out any task that could be deleterious to his health or beyond what is expexted of a 6 yr old child; and also not in any form of labour or exploitation, there is no child abuse or child labour.
Millions of children assist their parents in shops or the farm in nigeria. How many have been arrested or prosecuted....none, because it's neither child abuse nor child labour.
U are the one who should go and learn the proper definition of child labour/abuse.

Not sure of her schedule but i see no reason to work full time if your husband is a doctor - his schedule alone is crazy.
I will tell medical and military families to hire a helping hand. Always de-stress, find personal time to exercise at least 5days a week. Leave that crazy idea of building a mansion in Nigeria while you take a huge loan for that beautiful house in great community in America.
Let's be careful and avoid that stress from the pit of hell.

Live in Nanny don't come cheap in western countries. They cost an average 30 dollars per hour. Besides, any form of maltreatment accusation from the nanny against her employer can ruin his life and land him in jail.
I agree with u on building needless mansion in nigeria but buying a house in a good neighbourhood is inevitable on the long run.
Neighbourhood determines everything here. Good schools, good hospitals, crime free areas are located in expensive neighbourhood....and if u want the best for your family, u will buy a house in such neighbourhood.

Trust me, U don't want to go buy house in crime infested or low income areas....having low lifes as neighbours. Its a disservice to your kids. I'm sure u dont want your son walking around the house smoking weed or your daughter humping d*ck from age 14.

U also need to save if u want your children to attend ivy league schools because they are f*cking expensive. And there's nothing wrong helping your kids have a head start in life by helping them pay for initial mortgage deposit. This way they can buy house in their early 20s n finish payment in their late 30s.
Immigrants sacrifice a lot for their kids in this country. This include working extra n long hours to achieve those goals.

I don't get your question. The issue here is about friction btw husband and wife due to the later working long hours.
As a nurse in the USA, if u want to work 72 hours per week.... It's your choice, carry go. The remuneration is good and it's worth the hours put in.
Now 72 hours/week away from home is a huge sacrifice and there's no way it won't cause wahala if both couples are not understanding.
The income may improve family status, but an arrogant n unsubmissive wife may actually weaponise the new status and use it to bully the husband...causing more friction.

For those career u mentioned, their status will probably not change even if they work multiple extra hours.
It's different for nurses. A RN can pull in 60 to 75 thousands working standard hours. She can double her income if she put in for multiple long hours.

As a nurse in the US, you are able to afford most luxury; any car, house, clothing, vacation and jewelries but you must put in the time for work.

Now, here is where the common problem is, nurses are well sort after and the opportunity to work extra jobs are plenty. The downside is that it takes away family time and wifely responsibilities. Most husbands do not want that but the greed for dollars and the good things the wives can get with it blocks any form compromise with the husband. The common rebuttal is usually; are you not the man? Why don’t you provide those things then? Me that I want to try why are you stopping me? Imagine what happens in a home where the wife works 16hour at two jobs and only comes home to sleep when the husband is probably away at his own job.

Let me tell you this, a nurse that works only 40 hours a week can never comfortably afford a Land Rover valor or Lexus Gx or Mercedes glc, it’s impossible. So how is it that most of the nurses drive these cars?

They drive it because they work more and family responsibility is neglected. In the US, if you have young kids at school, your life and time is almost sacrificed for them.

Someone has to be there to get them ready, to drop them off at school and pick them up after school. Obviously, if the wife is a “hard working nurse” she can’t. The man has to pick up this extra responsibility and cut down his time for work; meaning less money for the man and more more for the wife. That is the correlation.

So, the result is that the wife is more financially buoyant than the man. It then comes a time when the wife wants to pay house rent for her brother in Nigeria who lives in lekki and had recently lost his job but the husband says no, she can’t.
Who gives him the right to decide what she can and cannot do with her hard earned money? Forgetting that he also made the sacrifices for her to be available to go to that work. The truth is that anyone can do two jobs in the US. ( Go check the families that both husband and wife work two full time jobs, their children are always in trouble)
Ideally, this is not how it is judged by external advisers and even the wife themselves.

The judgement is usually this way; you are the man, why can’t you provide for your family, why let your wife suffer to work and you want to control her. The statement has sent many men to early grave This is bringing a man to the lowest of low. A man that has sacrificed his time, job, pride and almost everything hoping for a better family.

Nurses don't have to work extra hours to live a good life in the USA.
It depends on how much effort u put in to develop yourself. If u are stuck with just RN certification, well u may as well be ready to work ridiculous hours..
Specialist nurses n advanced clinical practitioners earn well over 100 thousand dollars in the usa. Anaesthetist nurses earn over 140 thousand dollars in some states. These wages for standard hours.
The problem is most nigerian nurses don't go for further studies once they bag their initial degrees. Doing so will resolve most of these domestic problems.

We're in this together. Male or female. It's a known fact that blacks are underrepresented in the top echelons of the Western society.
We don't need statistics to tell us. Look around the West, Asians generally are in a higher earning group. I am not talking about one or two high outsiders.

Nigerians are in the successful group. They are the most educated group in the USA.
I don't know of other blacks but Nigerians are pulling their weight.
