We have several schools of thoughts. And the practice of Islam differs depending on a lot of factors. Muslims may consider Saudi Arabia but it is not enough to follow them blindly. GeoAfrikana: You have a point. But don't forget that Saudi has the highest number of World Class Islamic scholars in the world. They spend unspeakable amounts on building Islamic scholars.
Most of the big scholars we have in Africa, Europe and North America are products of Saudi University.
It's like saying America is not a model for the world in tech and innovation. Even you will know deep in your heart that you're telling a lie if you say that.
Leave politics aside, give credit to whom it's due. When it comes to pristine Islam, there's no match for Saudi scholars in the world. |

It is actually Israel. For example we love Nethanyahu. We welcome his wisdom. dyfaze: What's this one saying.. If Saudi is not the model for Muslim, Is it Rome or Israel?. I'm not sure you're a Muslim. |

It is Mecca and Medina that are important to Muslims because of the significance attached to them. Saudi Arabia is not a model for Islamic countries or for all Muslims. Some may look up to them SOMETIMES and there are many more who don't. 3kay945: What do you mean by your first paragraph if I may ask?
Just curious ni o.
It is Saudi and will always be. It is like a village home to every Muslim on Earth. |

Saudi is not the model for Muslims and they cant possibly dictate how to be a Muslim. They did a stupid and reckless thing. It is on them and we hope they arrested the leaders in charge. Onlinealaba: Nobody is above the law, Saudi that shut Kaaba knows what they were doing..stay at home and let's pray these pandemic pass and all religious activities can resume fully, you can't be more Catholic that the pope. Health › All You Need To Know In Coronavirus by Sterope(op): 9:39am On Mar 27, 2020 |
Many of us might get Coronavirus and very good number of us are going to be fine without any needing medical intervention or medication. For this reason we need to protect those of us who are at risk of developing complications and possibly death, we don't know ourselves. The following are steps to take to prevent and limit the spread of Coronavirus 1) Self isolate yourself: if you are from a high risk country or state, isolate yourself for a minimum of 14 DAYS. If you aren't but you have started experiencing the symptoms of Coronavirus, isolate yourself for 7 DAYS or until your high temperature and cough have passed. It is advisable to disinfect your surroundings! If you might have been in contact with a confirmed case, self isolate for a minimum of 14 DAYS If you are awaiting a test result, self isolate for 14 days About 80% of those infected would experience nothing more than mild symptoms and get well after 7days. Stay informed and access credible to guide you when your symptoms have gone from bad to 'I need medical intervention!' https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/ac-timeline-coronavirus-symptoms.jpgSeek help by the 7th day! 2) Contact tracing: contact those around you or those you have mingled with to self-isolate themselves for 14 DAYS to be certain that they are not infected and cannot spread the infection. Once they start showing symptoms, they should continue self-isolation for another 7 days (please see above) Some of us are going to be asymptomatic that is we will not show signs and symptoms of the infection but we can spread the infection. Please, lets self-isolate for 14 days 3) Identify the risk factors: The demographics at risks are the aged, the smokers, the asthmatic, people with pre-existing conditions, immunosupressed people like sickle cell carriers and our medical personnel. These people can develop complications and a good number of them in might die if we are not careful. Yes, there are reported cases of healthy, fit and young people who have died. Do not be complacent because you think you are young, fit and healthy. These people are going to form the majority of those who will need medical intervention. When you think of the medical resources that are needed to get a lot of them better, you will realise that we do not have these resources. Take a closer look at the mortality rate in other developed countries and now compare them with Nigeria with less than 90% of these medical resources. We are going to struggle. The numbers are not good for us but it can be the worst so far, all we need are a handful of irresponsible individuals. Please don't be a Covidiot! The more the infection spreads, the increase in the number of population that will require medical intervention that WILL get because we don't have enough doctors, nurses, masks, ventilators etc. Also, think of our medical personnel and their families. Nigerian medical personnel do not earn enough to be putting themselves through this hazard. 4) DO NOT CONTACT NCDC or GO TO YOUR HOSPITAL- unless your condition has gone from bad to worse. Please do not request for medical help. The more people that do, the less people who need help get the desired help. You will end up using your selfishness and ignorance to deny others of the necessary attention. 5) Build your immunity: this is the time to eat less rice, bread and sweets. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Above all, keep to the basic prevention tips and educate everyone around you. It is par of your civic duty! Because we are Nigerians. Our best bet are still: 1) Soap and water: wash your hands for at least 20secs or sing happy birthday while you are it. Soap is cheap and water can be easily found. Check online on how to wash your hands well. 2) Social distancing: At least 6ft. Do not go out when you don't need to even when social distancing would be practiced. You don't need church or mosque or school. The virus can be in the air for hours and can attach itself to surfaces so you might still get infected even if you are not close to anyone. 3) Don't travel home or entertain social visits of more than one person: sit your fine ass home. If your travelling is not a choice, self isolate when you get to your destination! 4) Mask and Gloves: Avoid using your unwashed hands to touch your personal effects of face. You can change gloves for that. You don't need to go out or bring out your phone, bag etc if you dont need to. Have you ever had a really bad tempered and easily triggered boss? Imagine having to live with such boss for the rest of your life. And you are expected to cook, clean, care, have sex with this boss for the rest of your life. Why should you think it is best for her to walk on eggshells for the rest of her life . Do you really think it is best to act like a slave because she wants to stay married. Would you continue a marriage where you have to tread very lightly? Wiseman5: By the way you sound, you really want your sister's marriage to work but your post here altered the motive. Never worry the only thing without solution is death and your sister and in law are alive. First of all, remove divorce from your mind expect if he is a cheat. Your sister must avoid confrontations and every other body language that suggests they are rivals. She should seek knowledge on how to win a man she is currently seeing now. Whatever brought them together should be remembered at such a trying times as this, and they must succeed. They should prove to everyone that attended their wedding that they are mature enough to handle their issues. God's help is present with them, relax weeping may endure for a night but JOY comes in the morning and that's very soon. Shalom brother, it's well. |

I am very aware of what is going on. These people suspected. Other than the alleged symptoms etc, they didnt defer to the medical authorities. Their experiences were before the government guidelines. . salford1: Yes. Most government are behind because this is an uncharted territory for a lot of government or health care workers. The guidelines just started becoming available. Before the guidelines, alot of people just thought it was a cold or a mild flu.
Even with the symptoms, they need to meet certain strict requirements before they can be tested. The two experiences in this post do not meet the requirements and won't be added to statistics if the symptoms appeared today and they seek healthcare.
If you displayed all the symptoms in this world but have not traveled or been in contact with someone that tested positive, you would be declined testing in Canada, so you won't be added to statistics. You would just be told to self isolate for two weeks, then if the condition detoriate, then call emergency.
The situation is also fluid so guidelines are consistently changing, atleast in the developed world. Heck, like they just found out that aerosols makes the virus airborne for a few hours and also just determined how long it can survive on different types of surfaces. These were Information not previously available.
See the bolded. That's from the government's website of my province. |
Health › Re: Stories Of Nairalanders With Coronavirus by Sterope(f): 4:14pm On Mar 19, 2020 |
Their experiences made no reference to guidelines in place. From what I can see, they were sick before government started coming out with those. They didn't even call so that their names could be added to the growing statistics. salford1: It's not easy to get examined in developed countries due to the limited number of testing kits. They will not test just anyone that shows up at the testing centres. You need a referral from a family doctor or via a specific number that you have to call, then the operator would interview you on the phone. People are experiencing long wait times as the number is overwhelmed too. In addition, you need to meet certain strict requirements:
- You must have travelled and have symptoms. If the symptoms are mild, you would be told to stay home for 2 weeks in self isolation and recover. Hospitals only want severe cases to come to them.
- You can only test if you are within 2 weeks of arrival into the country and you have symptoms.
- You have been around a person that tested positive, and the person already has a file with the government.
If the lady we believed brought it to our office had gone for a tests and confirmes positive, we would all have been mandated for a test too, but the lady did not. |

You are experiencing shortness of breath. It is a new experience but you chose to stay at home in the abroad with all the panicking. Say I understand the US guy, he doesn't want rack up debt. What's up with the Canadian guy though? Lol, the other one said he blacked up and he still stayed home. Good jokes! SenecaTheYonger: Don't be stupid, it obviously isn't that serious for those who don't have underlying ilness. I can vouch for that first guy that said he's never had shortness of breath before, but what he described is accurate because I have bronchitis and he explained the shortness of breath, inability to take in enough oxygen, muscle pain from struggling to breath - it's too accurate. If someone with asthma or bronchitis or any othet serious health issues catches it, they'll likely be admitted. |
