The politicians are not the major problem, we the followers are - and let me hasten to add that I say that advisedly.

Some Nigerians are protesting the killing of Floyd in the use in solidarity with Black Americans. Curiously we don't protest against cases like that in Nigeria.

Politicians all over the world are wired similarly, but the followers in developed climes will not allow their leaders to ride roughshod over them while we genuflect before our rulers without calling them out through protests.

With this nonsensical way Malami and the FG is handling the case, we ought all to be on the streets.

Can you imagine such height of ignorance and dumbness? sometimes i just dont reply but read helplessly, in which direction we are going.
You are so spot on! I don't believe that we are cursed though. I believe, rather, that we have very poor work ethics. Have you walked into a Nigerian office (bank, hospital) and the person that is supposed to attend to you is busy on the phone attending to unofficial matters for several minutes! At the end of the day, we now complain about the economy. The question we should be asking ourselves daily as individuals is "How much have I contributed to Nigeria's GDP today?"

The problem is not in the absolute population; the problem is in the percentage of the unproductive population.

Sad as it may seem, the truth is that the only profitable thing some people would have done by the end of today is commenting on Nairaland! And that doesn't add a dime to our GDP.

how can you prove that a guy had sex without your consent, when you visited his house and used your leg to walk into his bedroom without him forcing you with a weapon or druging you, you even agreed to having a relationship with him
You have many acquaintances and friends who you trust but that does not mean that they can't harm you.

We have read severally about people that were beheaded by acquaintances or friends - and in some cases, family members - for ritual killings and what not.

Would you blame the beheaded people for going to visit their so called friends and relatives who ended up killing them?

Only people with low self esteem would go about raping ladies. As a young man, back then, if a lady said no to my advances that was the end of it. How do men even get it up when you can see that the lady doesn't want it as much as you do?

There is no difference between rapists and armed robbers; they both forcefully take what they have not been given!

The part of your post that I emphasized is a very low point of Obaseki's government. That action has denied some constituencies legislative representation for 4 years!

The second mistake he made was conniving with others to remove his party national chairman and failing to achieve that objective. From that point forward, it means that reconciliation was foreclosed.

Omitted from the long list of offences is China and the rebalancing of the Afdb currency portfolio.

Unfortunately there are those in Nigeria who will hate on the man because he was a PDP minister, others will hate on him because they want to zero his chances of returning to elected office and yet others because they hate his tribe. PoliticsRe: Adesina To Step Aside As AfDB President For Fresh Probe by teepain: 5:29pm On May 27, 2020
U.S. criticism of the bank’s internal processes follows comments by World Bank President David Malpass in February that multilateral lenders including the AfDB tend to provide loans too quickly, and, in the process, add to African nations’ debt problems.
I find the highlighted part of this post offensive.

Bretton Woods institutions like IMF, World Bank have been killing African countries with loans with onerous terms but they didn't consider it as 'adding to African nations' debt' but AfDB that is giving loans to African countries at lower interest rates is being accused!

If Africans wouldn't chart their course, Africa would continue to be milked by these people.

This is totally unethical if proven to be true. This needs to be thoroughly revisited & Mr.Ezenwa punished accordingly if found guilty.
The truth is that AFDB under the sharp leadership of Adesina has taken a lot of lending businesses away from American and French interests and the guy has demonstrated a sense of independence that is alien to these neocolonialists who would rather have their lackey head AfDB.

Sadly, I read on here yesterday how Adesina was thrown under the bus by some Nigerian tribal irredentists who accused him of hriring his Yoruba brothers in breach of extant recruitment processes and controls. However, this article has rubbished all those claims. The 2 major people mentioned as having enjoyed undue advantage from the troubled AfDB President do not share tribal affiliations with him but they are Nigerians and if they were qualified why wouldn't he allow their employment to go through.

Nigerians should be careful the way we play the tribal cards because at the end of the day only Nigerians can help Nigeria and Nigerians! Help will not come from outside.

The moral of this debacle can be captured in this rhetorical question, "Why does Africa Development Bank need non-africans as shareholders?"

Think Africa, Africa think.

There is really not much one can say here apart from the fact that your friend's mother-in-law and brother-in-law are sick in the head.

The solution for now is for the lady to relocate to her father's house while waiting for the current rent to expire. Let her wait and see if the foolish hubby will come to ask her to contribute towards the next rent since they jointly paid the last rent.

I just learned that the northern leaders are even more wicked and heartless than most others in the country.

In streets where they all live together both rich and poor, they will be passing by poor people left right and centre besides them, but won't do anything. They don't care, if you like die, if you like live. Around December last year when kano was 0 degrees Celsius, many of them were sleeping outside on the cement floor bare without blankets or duvet. Even those of us inside the house wore like three to five clothes, these almajiris were still outside. Nothing concerns there leaders about them. They will just ride in their jeeps and move pass them.
A child not taught will sell the house well built. Even if their parents can't cater for them. Will the society too be wicked towards them? The level of wickedness exhibited by northern leaders is very very raw, and flawless. Bunch of wicked people
Your post in emphasis refers.

Please do not promote people to give birth to children they can't cater for.

Parents should learn to give birth to the number of children they can cater for.

If everyone in the society chooses to be irresponsible like those who send their kids to beg on the street joyfully and without any remorse, how will the society have funds to cater for the children uncatered for?

To be fair, El Rufai was not one of those who fought Sanusi.

I believe that El Rufai has what it takes to provide a rallying point for his fellow northern governors to end the almajiri culture. It is archaic and it promotes irresponsible parenting.

Imagine a responsible, tax paying parent, giving birth to 2 children because that is the number he can afford to cater for comfortably, then some rascals go to birth 10 kids even when they don't pay taxes and barely contribute anything to the GDP. Responsible people cannot be funding the reckless lifestyles of irresponsible people!

It has everything to do with all that you listed.
In a society where people are disciplined and sincere, it's easier to distribute food. People will line up, collect their share and go home. Nigerians have zero patience and greedy. They will collect and collect and collect. They will therefore deny others the opportunity to collect anything. You will have to bring in Police into a situation where in most society, police and force is not needed.
You don't seem to understand the impact of human behavior and thinking on his society, it creates the kind of society that you have.
Hungry and homeless people will line for assistance and food in the US. They will collect what they are given, will not collect more than what they are supposed to get and will show appreciation. Nigeria is the danm complete opposite.
My friend, a Nigerian in diaspora, owns a hotel in Lagos. He ordered his hotel management to do some give aways during the lockdown. The give aways was supposed to run for 4 weeks but when he saw the video of the first week he had to discontinue it. People were trying to pull down his gate, some were attempting to scale over the fence.

The masses of the country act irresponsibly sometimes blaming the government for their attitude.

Sadly, the Nigerian government since independence, has shown very little empathy for the masses. The more reason why the masses ought to exercise extra care in living healthily because if this situation becomes worse as a result of our nonchalance, Nigerians would have themselves to blame.

Let everyone stay safe and help others to stay safe.

I could even hear her kinsmen imploring her to desist from further assault to no avail.

You have just echoed my thoughts.

When and where, did Nigeria compile the so called national social register?

What is the basis of this conditional cash transfer?

If there is any basis at all, why is the basis not made public so that the potential beneficiaries can actually know ahead that they are qualified and they can blow the whistle if the transfer doesn't get to them because of some thieving politician or civil servant.

Without the general public knowing the rules guiding this conditional transfer, it would be subject to the fluid interpretation of the handlers.

The N1bn is "just a Month's Budget" right ?

Well a Month is a big deal in business. Even for big ones.
How many months have we had the lockdown ?

In fact, in less than 2 weeks into the lockdown, Large Companies were already Complaining of hugely affected by it. So explaining away 1bn as "just a Month expense" doesn't cut it.

Your take on the donations as a PR move is brilliant though. I too have been searching for a reason to explain it. This seems apt.
The donation is not PR.
As a matter of fact, donations made towards covid-19 by corporate bodies and individuals are tax deductible, meaning that when it comes to paying their corporate taxes these donors can (and trust me, they will) deduct the donations made from the tax payable. Hence, most of these donations are actually prepaid taxes in the real sense of it and not "donations".

Simply put, if I advance you #200 and later it is proven that I'm owing you #1000, I will only give you #800. Therefore my #200 is not a gift but a prepayment.
