HigherEd: That is really not just a prophecy but a visionary drive. The University has a solid strategic plan on how to bring this to reality.
And you would be amazed what Nigerian lecturers can do when backed by solid funding. The church is very willing to bankroll this venture. If anything i am very certain CU's dept of Economics has what it takes to produce a Nobel Prize Winner in Economics. What really is the biz of the church? |

SoNature: Let's not be fooled...no Nigeria’s president from the north will restructure Nigeria
I think the best bet is to vote for Buhari and endure for the next four years. Afterward, a southerner will restructure the country
A Nigeria's vice president is a nobody Both how practicable is it to truly restructure the country with a dominant northern house of assembly and a federal constitution designed to favour the North. |
Politics › Re: VP Osinbajo Responds To Atiku's Comment In Premium Times Publication by TheAlchemist: 12:08pm On Sep 04, 2018 |
DelNifty: VP Osinbajo really missed the point here about restructuring? Each region managing their resources and growing at their own pace will definitely make them sit tight, if the north had no free oil money they would definitely look for alternatives even in tourism and hold their leaders accountable and same is applicable to other regions. True federalism means the Government will only survive on tax & regulate the economy while the private provide jobs through investments. Please sir don't confuse us by diverting away from the essence of restructuring. Every one knows corruption is killing us even in your administration. But the VP is in support of State controlling there resources, deepening Federal Fiscalism, he also stated without fear or favour the need for state policing which is contrary to the President position. |

It is unsuspecting and it seeks to win over the opponent even as he may be planning to stab us viciously in the back". resurgent2019: Arrrrrrghh. I don’t support that oo. What the US needs to do is make a categorical statement that they don’t want Nigerians in their country again. It is a very simple matter. And it is better than robbing people of their hard earned application fees.
We know Nigeria has failed, maybe that’s why Nigerians are being rejected worldwide. The structural problems of the country has to be tackled at some point. We cannot keep being afraid of the violence of the northerners. If southerners can’t leave this failed contraption, we might as well face the notherners war for war and repossess our country. The North is like that because of the high level of illiteracy. We must continually push for a more literate North. There leaders have exploited the high level of illiteracy to their advantage. Nobody wants war! |
Business › Re: Dangote Oil Refinery Poses Threat To European Plants by TheAlchemist: 1:07pm On Aug 03, 2018 |
khalids: Now Nigeria especially Dangote needs to be careful....these Europeans can be very sinister and ruthless when they feel their businesses/economy is being threatened.......Best sleep with our eyes wide open It is a win for some of the refineries to shut down, no more fighting environmentalist, most of the refineries would be stripped down and shipped as replacement/servicing parts to be used for Dangote Refinery. I doubt, if any nation in Europe has made building a refinery a top priority, they are embracing a new future of zero or low carbon emission, so the gradual migration away from fossil fuel technology. |
Business › Re: Dangote Oil Refinery Poses Threat To European Plants by TheAlchemist: 12:58pm On Aug 03, 2018 |
abescom: The viability of the refinery business would hopefully force others to build something like this.
That will finally and truly mark the end of fuel subsidy and have a good domino effect on the country.
Small small we will get there. All that remains now is for all corrupt politicians to be killed if they refuse to die on their own.
[quote author=frugal post=69945378]The development of the country lies in the hands of visionary entrepreneurs. Our politicians have nothing to offer us. America is what it is today as a result of entrepreneurship. [/quot
The project is quite needed, but i would not consider it as been entrepreneurial at all. Refineries have been in existing for ages, so nothing new. The kind of entrepreneurship i would love the world to remember dangote for is something like this headline, "the Man who ensured 80% of Nigerian household now has solar panel as alternative source of power supply". Meet Africa's King of Renewable Energy... Dangote should aim for a project that builds a sustainable future. Why is Europe trying their best to move off fossil fuel technology for most of their basic needs. This is a challenge for Mr. Dangote, how do you promote renewable energy while not affecting the financial viability of your refinery in the long run... I am just appealing that we should envision what we desire Nigeria to be like 20 years ahead, most time we are only satisfied with looking forward like 3 to 5 years ahead. |
Business › Re: Dangote Oil Refinery Poses Threat To European Plants by TheAlchemist: 12:39pm On Aug 03, 2018 |
Shegzy8: Threat or no threat, we want the best for our dear country..I really don't know why a country in which its politicians promised to diversify the economy is still building a local refinery at this time and age...the world is moving on from oil and we are laying our foundation on that... obailala: Seriously?... Please tell me you're joking?....
Nigeria consumes an average of 40 million litres of petrol daily and about 1.2 billion litres monthly and all of this is IMPORTED. But you think it is a bad idea for Nigeria to refine it's petroleum within its shores because we want to diversify?.....
The most ridiculous thing about this comment is that in few minutes, there are already over 5 'likers' It is a good development by Mr. Dangote, but i also hope we shall see more effort on renewable energy, that is the future, from an environmental point of view! |
