Note that i travel on Saturday morning & land the next day... I hope i'm in safe grounds with regards to the 72hrs time frame, Just aint sure if it's before departure or landing.

Don't overthink it or analyse what you think border agents will ask. The chances of them asking is slim except questions related to school.

Correction while in the UK is a easier/better option.

Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 6 by Ugomaxx: 1:45pm On Sep 20, 2021
Pls gurus in the house. I stated in my application that i had no relative in the UK, based on their "definition" or more appropriately my interpretation. However, what i've been seeing here lately makes me concerned as i would be staying @ my Uncle's placs for my quarantine. I do not want to contradict myself nor give room for the border agents to use me to shine. How do i navigate this situation.
Also, my vignette has 10 instead of 20hrs p/w. I intend to initiate the correction in the UK & not here. This to avoid delays, is this prudent ?
@Bourne007, @Scooby, @Justwise etc Pls help me & respond accordingly.

VISA ALERT !!!!
I've always wanted to type that, now i get to, all thanks to my Redeemer Jehovah God.
I ported from the Canada express entry thread after i finally admitted to myself that that walka no go get head. This, after so much material & emotional investment. However, i do recall that the brain trust there made sure to advise all who cared to listen to convert their settlement (maintenance as it is called here) funds to a foreign currency, which i grudgingly did @ d tym. Infact, d week i finalised this "conversion" was d week d Naira was devaluated, prior to that it was around #360. I reference this because the exchange rate difference went a long way to helping cushion this very expensive Journey.
God has turned up for me every step of the way & i return all Glory to him. Sure, i still have my fears, new country, culture & all, but I know i/we will be all right las las.
Permit me to bore you some more with details of my application.

Standard Ikeja.
All I can say with regards to Standard application is to avoid it at all cost, especially during peak period, unless of course a part of you craves high blood pressure. The wait broke me as a man, hard guy hard guy, after 15 working days......
Anyways, i sent paid email on 01/09 & got the generic "processing, awaiting decision" response. At the time the tension done too hold me, sotey i post d letter here for interpretation, as if the letter was written in swahili. My school also called UKVI on my behalf, after initially not being inclined to do so, i think it May have helped. Perhaps folks here ought to try it.
Finally, thanks to the selfless people here who make out time to make life easier for faceless strangers. Perhaps, if Nigeria had more of you guys, we'd stay back in the only place we could really call home.
Hang in there Missowa & ieltsace. You're in my prayers, it will surely happen.

If your school isn't fast in responding to verification, ices will be better.
I believe ICES processing time has been increased to 20wks now, so it's difficult to see any good impetus for choosing them over WES, even accounting for verification and WAEC issues. This is a week past my initially designated 14 wks, yet they are still prevaricating. So knowing all these, it's still your call.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 8 by Ugomaxx: 12:59am On Jun 19, 2019
Interesting - So what are your assumptions? It kinda seems improbable especially if there are no back to back draws and/or fairly drastic increases in ITAs issued. Otherwise it ain't happening in July, and the month after is not assured either. On the upside, IRCC has target draws to meet.
Mind you, they have issued over 6250 or there about ITAs more then this same time last year. However, if they still stick to their 3350 invites every fortnight for the remainder of the year, they will fall miserably short of target, So...............
Ola2j:

Very correct. I arrived at the same conclusion. But I predict it would be between 455-465. If there is no 4 weeks gap again like there was in may, there would be a 450 draw or lower in july. But for this month, it is improbable
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 8 by Ugomaxx: 11:51am On Jun 17, 2019
@ Zeezi, @Sienakab being at 450 is not bad. My hunch is ITA will eventually start falling on & crushing (on a lighter note) people in that CRS score range. Just give it time. The problem is that @Jennyphab1 is right, his score really is 447 and not 450, unfortunately, which is very tricky even under the most optimistic permutations. So, @Sienakab my good man, you've to max out your ielts to stand a good chance. You're here now, so you might as well take it easy and read from Page 1,i have a feeling you'll be glad you did.
Zeezii:

you will get 450 CRS with IELTS 8777 for LRWS. Which is not a bad score

This is very true, same thing happened to me, tho in my case I was muttering gibberish & she put me out of my misery by moving on to the next question... It didn't happen again & I got 7.5. Speaking is really no biggie,
Just make sure you gather your thoughts, preferably voicing those thoughts out to the logical extent possible. I remember a question I was asked, loosely on genius & hardwork, I simply said "That's a good question, I've never really thought about it in this way before, but since you're asking............." It bought me time to gather my thoughts, also, it's a better substitute to"ehm" & long pauses.
MrPein:

Too much of it is not advisable. It would affect your coherence. A little is ok. If you can, try to speak slowly and collect your thoughts.

I was asked a question during my speaking test, I couldn't answer. I froze. Literally didnt say a damn word. The examiner just moved to the next question. But this happened only once. Still got a 7.5.

I swear this is "mein diebstahl", cos I was thinking the exact same thing. The fact that Maple land is an "ice box belt" is something that is relatively easy to tackle, given as you can always get used to it in time, However, with regards to the Tax, e le yin gidi gan!!! Makes it substantially difficult to share the "quality of life" with folks back home, which I believe is the principal motivation of most of us here.

My heart truly breaks for this woman. Given how thoroughly engrossed we all are in this process, it's downright disconcerting when 1 hurdle or the other, human or otherwise seems immutable. But I believe this woman will overcome this one, eventually, one way or the other, all legit. Having said that @ednut1,me thinks it is downright presumptuous calling sm1 else's husband "selfish". Mind you, he mustn't automatically share his wife's dreams or ambition. In any case, he's expressed willingness to let her & d kids have her way. This journey is long & tortuous and needs everyone involved to be completely hands on, for that, you need to buy into the project. It takes some of us more time than others to see the "light", and there's nothing wrong with that. Besides, do you know how hard he worked to get to where he is now, do you by any means have a ready made job waiting for him in Canada? Won't he "start" all over like the rest of us? For all we know, he has thought it through and is not sufficiently persuaded.
So Madam, I believe you you know hubby more than any other person, so tailor your arguments and actions to his fears, dreams & aspirations and the greater good of the family. Use real life examples from the further research you'll make. Brace yourself up for ielts, ace that exam so you'll be well & truly on your way in this process. That way, you'll be animated well enough to encourage another person. As per child benefits in Canada, please trash that idea, only go pick it up from the dump if all else fails & you're still fired up.
Child benefits with avoidable family separations & devoid of emotional support - is that one benefit?
ednut1:
canada is not 9ja. Your kids will get benefits u can use for survival. So many selfish nigerian men smh.

Awesome, buh isn't NYSC kinda less than a year... I'd personally like to add it too, just d@ I fear it's just under 12 months.
Topsmamen:

1. You have to state your specific duties as an accountant in the reference letter to be provided by your PPA. The best is to get a sample reference letter which you will adopt into writing yours. See a sample here.

2. Get your PPA to include in your reference letter that you were paid in cash. Also indicate that you were paid Federal allowance of 19,800 under the support of the Federal Government.

Good Morning... Actually the default mode of UNN itranscript is hard copy, infact it is stated there on their website that they offer no soft copy service, however, probably as an exception or whatever, they sent mine to ICES as soft copy, and ices acknowledged receipt accordingly. It just has to be sent thru UNN email address to the usual ices email address, it's really no biggie, I suggest you try same. Note that transcript is faster with UNN if you had similar result processed earlier, otherwise, I suggest you make an appearance at the campus to do yours in person or thru proxy.
PVXstar:

Thank you, Ugo. I think I just have to send and follow it up. I will amend on the go. UNN does itranscript, and their default mode is soft copy sending, except otherwise stated. How ICES receives it is what I don't know, but in their website, they started that they accept soft copy.
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program - Connect Here Part 7 by Ugomaxx: 4:51am On May 04, 2019
1.I believe age discrepancy issues are best resolved via sworn affidavit, as it seems like the shortest route you have - others with better info & /or similar experience can chime in on this tho.
2. Here, I sent them my result statement ONLY, while my school sent them transcript. They are mostly concerned with your transcript, as sent by your school. I took the precautionary step of asking them via email & they responded that this arrangement could suffice. I suggest you inform them of any peculiar situation via email - they usually respond 2 official days tops.
3. Of course sending them a soft copy seems reasonably faster, but I think you should be more concerned with it being sent and received accordingly via either mode. While UNN does occasionally send softcopy, I suspect that it's NOT the rule.
4. check 2, the bottomline is that they wave a lot of their requirements with the exception of transcripts and you're simply over thinking it. But for your peace of mind, you can always ask them directly to be sure.
PVXstar:
Hi Fam,

I have been reading and following patiently, for a long time now. I have a some issues, and I pray somebody here has answers to my problems, and could help a sister out.

1. I want to evaluate my credentials(MSc), and I have an age discrepancy issue with my Nov/Dec wasc result. So, I chose to do it with ICES. What about my choice? Please, does anybody have same age discrepancy issue with wasc? If you do, how did you resolve it? That is the only reason why I am not using WES, which would have been better for me, in this case

2. Those that used ICES, did you request for a copy of your transcript from your school, first that you sent with your certificates to ICES, because they requested academic record , as one of the things to be sent alongside certificates and international passport? That's aside the usual transcript request from school that will be sent directly to ICES, by the school.

3. Did you ask your school to send a soft copy to ICES? Is it better than asking them to send a hard copy?

4. What about their request for certificates alongside transcripts from the school? Those that studied in UNN, how did you handle that? In ICES website, they stated that if the school indicates the awarded degree on the transcript, it can cover for the certificate.

Thanks, in anticipation

Bro, here's the download link to ielts cambridge materials https://englisharoundtheworlds..com/2018/09/cambridge-ielts-books.html?m=1 I suggest you go for 5-13 General training. Try doing a post test analysis every 2 listening & reading tests. It has both transcripts & audio, make use of it all. Also try to chill a bit, sometimes fixating on setbacks in a module has a way of magnifying them. Case in point, less than a week to the test, I retrogressed & started having 7 repeatedly, sometimes less. Needless to say that I panicked, but I started doing in depth analysis of my shortcomings. The fixes I needed slowly started coming to me. In short, there are patterns to the particular kind of questions in both Listening & reading modules that is derailing you, figure it out. All the best bro.
NB. I told a powerful being upstairs not to allow Listening fall my hand, you could try that too- together with the others of course.

In my humble opinion, I seriously think you should let go of that test, trust me it's way more difficult than the real stuff. In order to adequately assess your current capacity, go for the official Cambridge materials, as it's really your go to source for acing Listening & Reading. However, they are those who opine that practicing with ieltsonlinetest is ideal, exactly cos of it's difficulty. I don't.
For Listening, when practising try to peruse and decipher the gist of the next question, as it makes it harder to miss 2 questions in a row, if at all. Also, have a pen ready, so that every genuine "break" you get, you use it to underline key words in both the answers (For MCQ) and the questions. This keeps you in the rhythm of the test. Here, synonyms really come in handy, in which case a dictionary, together with articles (I recommend foreign) should do the trick.
For reading, Scour the articles and/or paragraphs for your answer, which you do easily by reading through the questions first. Allow the questions point you to the answer. If & when you do, read a sentence or two further down, cos that may be the real answer. As for "Not given", don't fall for it's myriad tricks. Even if an info can be inferred or is reasonable, but it is not expressly stated, don't tag it "true" or "false" , when it's obviously "NG". For instance, if it says Judas fell from a the top of a sky scrapper and leaves it @ that, DON'T assume it is TRUE that Judas died. It just didn't say so.
Finally, remember to pay attention to the little matter of Writing, and to some extent speaking. Writing is a formidable beast, find a way to maim that monster,
as others are pets in comparison.
rs172:
Good evening everyone, I've been practicing with ieltsonlinetests.com for the past few days, especially listening and reading, i don't know where I'm getting it wrong I've been scoring 6.5 and 7 respectively in both listening and reading, I've watched ielts liz tutorial videos i can't still get where I'm getting it wrong.

It costs #35k and can be done online, However it's faster if you've requested before, which obviously you've not. There is also the option of going down to Nsukka to do it in person. Follow up is key either way. Hope this helps.
