My mum had Stage 4 Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and passed away last month. Cancer is a horrible disease and I know what I went through during my mum’s illness and treatment. It was tough and soul destroying. I understand what you are going through, anyone making jokes about this lady having a mastectomy is ignorant and should pray cancer does not befall any of their loved ones. My advice is take each day as a blessing and keep fighting. Don’t forget to make sure she know she is loved. I wish you and your mum very the best.

I enjoy the fluency of your comments , but the truth be told appearance matters, in as much as you seem to be grounded in legal technicalities whenever one is confronted with situation similar with that of the OP we need to use wisdom,the system we are is warped I know it will take some time to clean up the mess, but looking at the security challenges and crime rate in the society now eveybody is a suspect when confronted by any SARS operative ,once you cooperate and with kind words you will even joke as the interrogation proceeds.

The OP will not tell you 100% what transpired between him and the officer just to gather support ,I am not saying there are no overzealous officers but at times we need to present ourselves in a calm demeanor to allow things work in our favour/advantage

I agree with you that our cooperation is important but like I said when they cross the line then really something needs to be done. It is unlawful for them to lay hands on a grown man who has not committed any offence neither should anyone be judged based on looks. Another person talking absolute bull. You will illegally detain someone for 2 days then illegally search their home? Which Inspector will allow you custody or who will prosecute your spurious allegations? You think arrests are just to detain suspects? You should present the matter before a judge or some form of judicial disposal ie fine or charge, caution or warn. You need to go before a judge for a warrant and frankly in your case you will laughed out of court for presenting a shoddy case and worse you will be reprimanded and arrested for various offences. The backwardness in law enforcement is alarming ans when we point this out even with prior experience you chose to remain ignorant? Keep living in the stone ages whilst developed nations forge ahead.

Reasonable suspicion is very subjective. Will a reasonable person in charge of all the thinking faculties think a corper in uniform going on with his life or duties in broad daylight is an armed robber? He even showed his ID and identified himself! On what basis or grounds is that search legal? Just because the last suspect had a funny haircut does that mean that every other person who has a similar haircut is a criminal? This is what happens when you have dolts in charge. The job of the police also involves making sure the case or offence is properly presented before a judge. The police are not lawyers or judge and jury. You build your grounds to search on facts not some airy fairy nonsense about looks. I think we need to start taking these abuses to civil court or reporting them immediately.

However, in Nigeria the constitution is not respected. Even Buhari does not uphold the constitution. Most things are done conventionally instead of constitutionally.

Who do you think will win this case if it actually saw the light of day in a competent court? Once an officer conducts an unlawful arrest or illegal search, it becomes open season because the civilian can physically resist and the court will find that officers were not acting in accordance with their duties or complied with due legislation. Let me enlighten your dimwitted response, the officers will find themselves reprimanded or criminal proceeding held against them for conducting an illegal search, false imprisonment and assault. The NYSC chap will be found not guilty of resisting arrest. What offence did he commit? It is a question of law and facts. It is wrong and should not happen to any member of public.

There could be other factors such as medication which could cause hallucinations, I once took malaria tablets once during a severe bout of malaria and I actually believed the rapture had happened. Was a raving lunatic that night. Infections, sleep deprivation due to anxiety or stress etc. Get some proper sleep, check your diet or see a doctor or therapist. You could also seek spiritual guidance too. In the long run, do your own research and come to your own conclusions.
