buzugee:Your response is on point. Poor customer service is a Nigerian problem. And everybody is a king in his own world. Our arrogance is the beginning of most of our problem! |
@moderator I think that the idea of a health forum is excellent. The state of Health in Nigeria is deplorable and it is encouraging to see great minds that are interested in making a difference. I have noticed that people tend to think/believe that health advice/suggestions from this site can be a replacement for regular hospital/clinic visit. Sometimes definitive diagnoses and treatments are prescribed for posters to follow. And it doesn't help in Nigeria that anything can be bought over the counter. These things happening could actually worsen the bad situation that the forum was trying to improve. I know it is a virtual environment, and you may be limited in so many ways. But i suggest that a very strong and visible disclaimer be made that doing anything you read here is at your own risk. Nigeria is still a very naive society, but we are not going to remain there for very long. Good job!!! |
Alcohol addiction is a problem all over the world. In Nigeria, it is a problem that should be contained now. . because IMO, it is in its early stages. A bigger problem we have is poverty, which makes a major percentage of the population unable to afford regular meals, not to talk of alcohol. The big drinkers would be out of the small "middle class" that we have. Some factors that also help the Nigerian situation is our culture/"religion". Drinking alcohol is not very socially acceptable with us. And we have a strong family support sys compared to western countries. Therefore, alcoholics are more likely to have more pressure on them to quit by family. Problem drinker ![]() C - Do you feel you need to cut down on alcohol intake A - Do you feel angry when people talk about your drinking habits G - Do you feel guilty about your drinking E - Do you need an eye opener (alcohol) to get going in the morning. If you answer yes to 2 of the 4 questions, it is possible that you might be a problem drinker!!! |
Mariory:And yet again, you have been able to prove the Power of suggestion by suggesting that the caption of the post does not represent the actual situation in the picture. ![]() Because your suggestion obviously gathered some believers. . . netghost: Danni2: |
onye_ngbu*:Just wondering why you would pity him. . . Is it because the candidate he believed in did not win ![]() I think we Nigerians take things too personally. Regardless of who wins, the dividends of a good democracy should be felt by every Nigerian regardless of who they voted. Genbuhari should be as happy as you are as long as the President performs his duties as he should. And he does not not continue to make Nigeria a family business as we have all known it to be in the past. |
I hope Ribadu has really stepped down. Because he would be a bad choice for President of Nigeria anyway. We don't need a President whose actions are determined by his "party leaders" We have been in that situation too long. The fact that he is not in support of the decision to step down only tells us that he is a mere puppet. |
@mcgboye Welcome to Nairaland. Here, when people do not see your point of view, they resort to insults. And believe me, the only way around it is to stoop down to their level and return the insults!!! |
His talk is just like telling a mother who just lost a twin that "At least you are fortunate that it is only Kehinde that died and Taiwo is still alive" If our President values our time, and our zeal for good and credible elections, he should be apologetic to all the poor Nigerians who had to go wait in the sun, waiting to cast their votes ,only to be told that they have to come back on Monday. BTW, Nigerians who make money by the day will not be too thrilled about having to part with a day's worth of their livelihood. What is wrong is wrong. Regardless oof what Mr President's intentions are, that statement was totally insensitive!!! |
I can't believe that people believe this story!!! 1. How do they know that it is a baby in the snake's belly. they must have x-ray vision, or something like that. 2. If they know that it is a snake, then at least 1 person must have watched the snake take its time to strangle and then swallow the baby. 3. Smaller snakes stay away from places where humans live, not to talk of a snake that size. The parents of the child probable live alone in the middle of the forest 4. After swallowing a child, do you think it is normal Nigerian/human behavior to stand and watch They would have sliced that snake's belly in an instant to retrieve the child at east for burial. it is unfortunate that the cameraman didn't wait that long to take the remaining pictures.or maybe his battery ran out. |
The roads in the North are good. But vehicular traffic on those roads are almost next to nothing from what i experienced. You see a bike here and there, a few cars and cattle!!! Therefore minimal wear and tear, even with no maintenance. A lot of people cite this "roads are better in the north" shiit. But its all a load of bullcrap. |
The reason Naija is the way it is currently is because so many Nigerians lack logical thinking. There is no need to argue or contest whether Nigeria is still or was ever "Giant of Africa". That is ABSOLUTELY NOT THE ISSUE. The said statement in the commercial was an unnecessary jab directed at Nigeria, made by a Nigerian in an SA commercial that is supposed to promote SA to Nigerians ![]() ![]() There is no better way to describe that than insulting. And for the people who love the commercial, your brain is probably not mature enough to appreciate the message in it.For the Nigerians who still do not understand, it takes tolerance of other people and maturity to become developed! |
Ecomog should not go anywhere oooo. With the things going on in Naija right now, we just might need dem troops a lot more than cote d'ivoire. |
Becomrich?:Are you talking about the Northern part of Nigeria ![]() ? ![]() |
2good:We all know in truth that Nigeria needs to improve on a lot of things. I believe that the reason ROSSIKE put the nice pictures up was to counter becomerich, who posted 1 nice picture of Tanzania to prove that Nigeria is facing difficult times. |
@ROSSIKE you want to argue with Becomrich aka musiwa he he he he. . . No waste your time ooo. A lot of people on Nairaland are in a world of their own ooo. |
norrisman:you misunderstand my point. Whenever anything happens in Naija, people are so quick to blame the government. Even though the government fails us, even we fail in our responsibilities. Lets take the broken down truck for instance. the truck driver has a responsibility to make sure other motorists are safe. . . by putting up appropriate warning signs. i don't need to go into the details of that. His employers also have a responsibility to make sure that their truck is road worthy or even if it breaks down they move it out of the way. Other road users have their own responsibilities, the police etc. These are all human beings/Nigerians. And if they paid attention to their responsibilities, disasters will be avoided. But unfortunately, everybody fails in his responsibility, and we all know what crime we are guilty of. But whenever disaster strikes, the only failure we see is the government. |
tausi:interesting to know that just like Nigeria, Kenya has lots of tribes. Question - Do you have various tribes in Kenya claiming superiority over other tribes just like we usually have here on Nairaland ![]() |
It is not an assumption. . . I read what a lot of people thought about his idea. Most people suggest waiting for the person who is supposed to do it. And some people commented about our bad leaders. And some made sarcastic remarks. And some used the opportunity to prove to us for the 100th time that our leaders are not doing what they should. But what happened to the concept of picking up a banana peel from the floor so that people don't fall and break something. Despite the fact that you are not the floor cleaner. |
Even though covering the man-hole with planks might not be an effective way of solving the problem, the person who said that, is the only one who seems to be concerned about the possible danger that could be caused by the man-hole. And he was concerned enough to think of a way to try and prevent it. Most of the other posts are only stating the obvious. . . there is a man-hole in the road, and somebody is not doing his job. That is also important, but in the meantime, to prevent loss of lives, something needs to be done about it. And that is the problem with Nigeria. Everybody is too busy pointing fingers and not taking action, as long as they are not they are not directly affected by the problem. Societies only advance when we are our own brother's keeper and we make ourselves partly responsible for anything that goes wrong in the society. . . these are the motives of many well respected, voluntary organizations all over the world. |
namdo:There are so many people with African names in the caribbean. I've heard of Sade, Olabisi, Ronke, kwame, Neka (i guess that is supposed to be Nneka) |
banom:You have concluded that all the earlier posters are Yoruba because they were praising the Governor. Look who's calling other people tribalists. Your post reeks of bias!!! |
chosen04:I have seen a couple of posts by you, and you really didn't need to put any effort into convincing people beyond reasonable doubt that you lack logical thinking. If you have a point to make, please do it logically. And if abusive words are the only way you can think, then i bet you there are many people who can do better!!! |
Kobojunkie:What are you complaining about. . . I don't get it!!! What do you expect him to do. . . You are always claiming democracy, so can you please educate us on how he should CHANGE the status quo. Abegi, no be military era we dey ooo. |
chosen04:Abeg. . . If you no get anything to say, no be by force na!!! Ochi_Agha:Wetin be all this north talk sef. No be human beings dey north. Or you think say na only one group for naija get monopoly of violence. |
No problem. . . As long as the violence begins on his own home, family and property. |
