HealthRe: Why Do Luth Dr, Nurses, Interns Have Bad Attitudes? by ziga: 4:24pm On May 18, 2011
buzugee:
well 'customer service' aint exactly top of nigerians priority. i bet you are the same way on your job or wherever. why do you expect a nurse to be different from the average rude nigerian ?
Your response is on point.
Poor customer service is a Nigerian problem. And everybody is a king in his own world. Our arrogance is the beginning of most of our problem!
HealthRe: Health Section Guidelines And Complaints Thread- by ziga: 6:52pm On May 14, 2011
@moderator

I think that the idea of a health forum is excellent. The state of Health in Nigeria is deplorable and it is encouraging to see great minds that are interested in making a difference.

I have noticed that people tend to think/believe that health advice/suggestions from this site can be a replacement for regular hospital/clinic visit. Sometimes definitive diagnoses and treatments are prescribed for posters to follow. And it doesn't help in Nigeria that anything can be bought over the counter.

These things happening could actually worsen the bad situation that the forum was trying to improve. I know it is a virtual environment, and you may be limited in so many ways.

But i suggest that a very strong and visible disclaimer be made that doing anything you read here is at your own risk. Nigeria is still a very naive society, but we are not going to remain there for very long.

Good job!!!
HealthRe: Alcohol Addiction by ziga: 4:45pm On May 14, 2011
Alcohol addiction is a problem all over the world.
In Nigeria, it is a problem that should be contained now. .  because IMO, it is in its early stages.
A bigger problem we have is poverty, which makes a major percentage of the population unable to afford regular meals, not to talk of alcohol.
The big drinkers would be out of the small "middle class" that we have.
Some factors that also help the Nigerian situation is our culture/"religion". Drinking alcohol is not very socially acceptable with us. And we have a strong family support sys compared to western countries. Therefore, alcoholics are more likely to have more pressure on them to quit by family.

Problem drinkerhuh
C - Do you feel you need to cut down on alcohol intake
A - Do you feel angry when people talk about your drinking habits
G - Do you feel guilty about your drinking
E - Do you need an eye opener (alcohol) to get going in the morning.
If you answer yes to 2 of the 4 questions, it is possible that you might be a problem drinker!!!

I noticed that too. However, as you can see nobody cares about the actual picture. I willing to bet there a quite a number on this thread who didn't even look at the picture. This thread is a good study and validates the Power of Suggestion.

You can be sure that a different thread title would have brought about a different general reaction. grin
And yet again, you have been able to prove the Power of suggestion by suggesting that the caption of the post does not represent the actual situation in the picture. smiley smiley smiley
Because your suggestion obviously gathered some believers. . .

Check the pic well, some are just sitting down while others are standing. Verdict? Its not true that they are serving punishment cos it is not possible.

He has obviously gone underground.
I pity that guy oo.
The guy was so passionate about his belief in buharia(lol).
Maybe this will be a lesson for people who board vehicles with tokunbo tires. Lol.

I really pity that dude. He sounds like a pretty decent guy.
Just wondering why you would pity him. . . Is it because the candidate he believed in did not winhuh
I think we Nigerians take things too personally. Regardless of who wins, the dividends of a good democracy should be felt by every Nigerian regardless of who they voted.

Genbuhari should be as happy as you are as long as the President performs his duties as he should. And he does not not continue to make Nigeria a family business as we have all known it to be in the past.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu and Co Have Damaged My Candidacy- - - - -Ribadu by ziga: 12:25am On Apr 15, 2011
I hope Ribadu has really stepped down. Because he would be a bad choice for President of Nigeria anyway.

We don't need a President whose actions are determined by his "party leaders" We have been in that situation too long. The fact that he is not in support of the decision to step down only tells us that he is a mere puppet.

@mcgboye

Welcome to Nairaland. Here, when people do not see your point of view, they resort to insults. And believe me, the only way around it is to stoop down to their level and return the insults!!!
PoliticsRe: What An Unfortunate Slip Of Tongue By Gej by ziga: 9:37pm On Apr 02, 2011
His talk is just like telling a mother who just lost a twin that "At least you are fortunate that it is only Kehinde that died and Taiwo is still alive"

If our President values our time, and our zeal for good and credible elections, he should be apologetic to all the poor Nigerians who had to go wait in the sun, waiting to cast their votes ,only to be told that they have to come back on Monday.

BTW, Nigerians who make money by the day will not be too thrilled about having to part with a day's worth of their livelihood.

What is wrong is wrong. Regardless oof what Mr President's intentions are, that statement was totally insensitive!!!
PoliticsRe: Python Swallows 6months Old Baby In Okada, Edo State by ziga: 4:54am On Mar 31, 2011
I can't believe that people believe this story!!!

1. How do they know that it is a baby in the snake's belly. they must have x-ray vision, or something like that.
2. If they know that it is a snake, then at least 1 person must have watched the snake take its time to strangle and then swallow the baby.
3. Smaller snakes stay away from places where humans live, not to talk of a snake that size. The parents of the child probable live alone in the middle of the forest
4. After swallowing a child, do you think it is normal Nigerian/human behavior to stand and watchhuh They would have sliced that snake's belly in an instant to retrieve the child at east for burial. it is unfortunate that the cameraman didn't wait that long to take the remaining pictures.

or maybe his battery ran out.
PoliticsRe: Is It True That The Nw And Ne Have The Best Roads In Nigeria? by ziga: 5:19pm On Mar 26, 2011
The roads in the North are good. But vehicular traffic on those roads are almost next to nothing from what i experienced. You see a bike here and there, a few cars and cattle!!! Therefore minimal wear and tear, even with no maintenance.

A lot of people cite this "roads are better in the north" shiit. But its all a load of bullcrap.
PoliticsRe: South Africa Defies Nigeria On Nigerian Soil by ziga: 4:25am On Mar 12, 2011
The reason Naija is the way it is currently is because so many Nigerians lack logical thinking.

There is no need to argue or contest whether Nigeria is still or was ever "Giant of Africa". That is ABSOLUTELY NOT THE ISSUE.

The said statement in the commercial was an unnecessary jab directed at Nigeria, made by a Nigerian in an SA commercial that is supposed to promote SA to Nigerianshuhhuhhuh There is no better way to describe that than insulting. And for the people who love the commercial, your brain is probably not mature enough to appreciate the message in it.

For the Nigerians who still do not understand, it takes tolerance of other people and maturity to become developed!

Becomrich?:
the issue is, we have something to lost. and too manything to lost in a civil war, so we would rather excuse ourself. Ok, it was in 1976 they create abuja, and nigeria started making money from oil in 1971, so since 1976, they have been pumping the oil money into the north.

We would rather keep what we own, than be involve in this.
Are you talking about the Northern part of Nigeriahuhhuh? undecided undecided undecided
PoliticsRe: Abuja Bomb:98% Of Nigerian Do Not Benefit Anything From Been Nigerian by ziga: 9:27pm On Jan 02, 2011
2good:
You can put whatever nice picture you want to place on the internet about Nigeria, but it doesnt change the obvious that we dont have any form of social security from the government. You need to have money and buy your own security for yourself after paying tax to the Nigerian government.
If you live in Europe and America you'll see that there is obviously a massive difference between the quality of life in Nigeria and those places.
Nigeria is a place where money is distributed among very few people while the masses suffers because the system is sick. It will be unfair and selfish of me to come out to the public and be saying that things are very ok in Nigeria just because I have things going well for me.
We have to identify all these lapses in the system to be able to build the nation and make it a better place. The wealth have to be distributed evenly if we want to have a Nigeria.
We all know in truth that Nigeria needs to improve on a lot of things.

I believe that the reason ROSSIKE put the nice pictures up was to counter becomerich, who posted 1 nice picture of Tanzania to prove that Nigeria is facing difficult times.

PoliticsRe: Killer Manholes On Lagos Road Worry Motorists by ziga: 1:01am On Dec 28, 2010
norrisman:
Where do you draw the line for this your social responsibility experiment? Do you ask people to push that broken down 18 wheeler truck loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol 10 miles down the motorway to a safe location to prevent an accident happening later on at night? How anyone can compare helping accidents victims to covering an exposed manhole on a road is beyond me,
you misunderstand my point.

Whenever anything happens in Naija, people are so quick to blame the government. Even though the government fails us, even we fail in our responsibilities.

Lets take the broken down truck for instance. the truck driver has a responsibility to make sure other motorists are safe. . . by putting up appropriate warning signs. i don't need to go into the details of that.
His employers also have a responsibility to make sure that their truck is road worthy or even if it breaks down they move it out of the way.
Other road users have their own responsibilities, the police etc.

These are all human beings/Nigerians. And if they paid attention to their responsibilities, disasters will be avoided. But unfortunately, everybody fails in his responsibility, and we all know what crime we are guilty of.
But whenever disaster strikes, the only failure we see is the government.

Hi all; am kenyan and love NL. Kenyan culture, beliefs and traditions are so diverse that I can't go into details here. There are over 40 tribes in kenya with different traditions and beliefs. I grew up in Nairobi which is a very modern multicultural city.

interesting to know that just like Nigeria, Kenya has lots of tribes.
Question - Do you have various tribes in Kenya claiming superiority over other tribes just like we usually have here on Nairalandhuh
PoliticsRe: Killer Manholes On Lagos Road Worry Motorists by ziga: 7:45pm On Dec 27, 2010
It is not an assumption. . . I read what a lot of people thought about his idea. Most people suggest waiting for the person who is supposed to do it. And some people commented about our bad leaders. And some made sarcastic remarks. And some used the opportunity to prove to us for the 100th time that our leaders are not doing what they should.

But what happened to the concept of picking up a banana peel from the floor so that people don't fall and break something. Despite the fact that you are not the floor cleaner.
PoliticsRe: Killer Manholes On Lagos Road Worry Motorists by ziga: 7:34pm On Dec 27, 2010
Even though covering the man-hole with planks might not be an effective way of solving the problem, the person who said that, is the only one who seems to be concerned about the possible danger that could be caused by the man-hole. And he was concerned enough to think of a way to try and prevent it.

Most of the other posts are only stating the obvious. . . there is a man-hole in the road, and somebody is not doing his job. That is also important, but in the meantime, to prevent loss of lives, something needs to be done about it.

And that is the problem with Nigeria. Everybody is too busy pointing fingers and not taking action, as long as they are not they are not directly affected by the problem.

Societies only advance when we are our own brother's keeper and we make ourselves partly responsible for anything that goes wrong in the society. . . these are the motives of many well respected, voluntary organizations all over the world.

Yoruba people has started praising Fashola because he is from yoruba, if he is from another tribe, they will be saying the opposite , Useless foolish tribalists.

What did fashola really did to improve the standard of living of lagosians. Nonsense.
You have concluded that all the earlier posters are Yoruba because they were praising the Governor. Look who's calling other people tribalists.

Your post reeks of bias!!!

I have seen a couple of posts by you, and you really didn't need to put any effort into convincing people beyond reasonable doubt that you lack logical thinking.

If you have a point to make, please do it logically. And if abusive words are the only way you can think, then i bet you there are many people who can do better!!!

Well, Keeping quiet actually spares us the shouts. I mean he is a position of power, and telling us what we already know. Why? That is sort of like listening to sanctimonious NASS agents telling us over and over about the problems with government but none of them actually stepping out to do something about it. If you are not EMPOWERED to change it(even with all the power you have been given by the people), then stop. I mean who is going to fix the problem is no one steps out to lead?

We get the same nonsense from even Jonathan himself. Imagine that one coming out to tell us of the problems over and over but never really saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and using his influence/power to make sure one thing is fixed.
What are you complaining about. . . I don't get it!!!
What do you expect him to do. . .

You are always claiming democracy, so can you please educate us on how he should CHANGE the status quo. Abegi, no be military era we dey ooo.
