I repeat

I have reproduced this twice.

At all speeds below 80km no misfire.

At all speeds above 80km the check engine light starts blinking.

When the OBD II readout is done, it shows misfire codes.

Now this is the layman explanation.

The tire creates vibrations, the coils pick up the vibrations and send wrong inputs to the ECM.

The ECM in turn sets misfire codes.

Those codes go away at all speeds less than 80 and always return at all speeds greater than 80.

The challenge is open, I have reproduced it twice on Siennas running 3MZ-FE.

I wanted to share it months ago but cancelled at the last minute.

Once tire was replaced the misfires went away.

The faulty tire was the front right tire in both cases.

I have not tested it in other positions.

I researched it some more and a Toyota technician confirmed he has seen it too overseas.

Go figure!

In both cases, the problem tire had seen better days, and should have been replaced a while ago but the client was buying time to source for funds for a replacement!

my friend is a tyre can cause vibration that triggers misfire through the coil pack then the coilpack is fault its means with a even a good tyre in bumpy road a misfire will be triggered


so the problem would not be tyres but loose connection somewhere, yes tyres triggered but the problem would be there waiting to be triggered by anything

check these tests on they and with your theory then a missfire will be always triggered


i dont research i work with cars, electronics is my play field, yes vibration trigger things if not correctly tightened, in this case as you say tyres triggers a misfire, how much vibration as the driver are you getting that a fully working coilpack fail, while the ride is still very comfortable

my conclusion yes vibration from tyres was there but still a missfire will occurs again, did you work on the car or you were told of the causes of the misfire

let me tell you one trade secret, mechanics and electricians usually do, sometimes customers brings in cars and they tell you what they think is the problem half of the time there are wrong, if they present a faulty thats looks like a big job and if i find out that it is 2 secs job i still, charge and tell that i worked on the faulty and tell them indeed thats was the problem. but reality it would be the case

about a month ago a customer brought in an audi a5 the car wouldnt start, he changed the battery still nothing, the guy was so much in hurry he wanted the car to be fixed straight away plugged the car to the computer no codes, he suggested a new starter we ordered one and it was to be delivered the next morning so he left the car. me being an electrician checked all the wire on the battery connector, audis and bwms sometimes they have more than one positive wire linked to main positive thick battery cable, one of the small positive wire had blown the fuse, changed the fuse and the car started. but since the customer suggested the starter i went along with his starter story charged him for a changing the starter so it him the problem was the starter. as for us the garage the problem was £2 fuse on the positive terminal of the battery

thats what i believe happened to this tyres causing missfire story

Sounding funny? Specifically about the tires causing misfires....and by the way it was one of a long list of possibilities, and never did I say it was the reason in this case

It is on reddit, check it out, I have personally confirmed it on a 3mzfe engine twice

By the way that comment was specifically placed there because he claimed to have changed coils but the misfires didn't go away

Once again let me restate this is no internet folklore and that A has not experienced something does not mean it has not or cannot happen or will not happen to B

tyre will never cause misfire no matter what


i can tell you are not a mechanic yes tyre can have a bump which will make the ride bumpy and if he coil is not tied enough it might cause a misfire but it doesnt mean its the tyre causing it NO its the coil pack or cable not being tight enough

being on reddit doesnt mean its correct reddit is for people who got no clue how things work

1st the codes are saying missfire per individual cylinder

2nd there are saying system ignition missfire likely coilpack
3rd mostly thats what is triggering the knock sensor since the missfire

I have many instances of girls even younger than 20 who got married to much older men and had successful marriages.

@topic, age is just a number and the fact that the lady is 20 does not necessarily mean she is not matured enough for marriage. I know many ladies in that age bracket who got married to men far older than them and they are doing well in their marriages. you see with women, there are forced to look and act mature by two things 1 the moment she get married even at 16 is forced to act and look simply becoz she now a married woman anf with comparison she must act and look mature like 40 yrs old woman. which is anfair the 16yr old is still battling teenage homornes 2 once a woman gives birth nature forced her to carer and provider to the child, so once again she is forced by motherhood to make right decision for the child and also husband.

I am. Yoruba too but I was born here in the North. I can't speak the language infact but my hard core Yoruba which I believe is common to all Yoruba. Inter marriage is very bad and I will think about marrying anybody outside Yoruba too.

I use to plan in the future that I might married a Fulani or Hausa or Nupe woman but more especially Fulani (I am a Muslim) but I pondered for a long while that this is not going to work for me. I can't marry a woman just for love, I have to consider the type of children that we will breed.

as for repairs i assume you are asking about repair costs, the best is take it to body shop repair they lift and strip that side and assese the damage they give you an estimation based on physcially checking than looking at the photo

If it is still within the acceptable thick it is perfectly legal in the industry those limits about the minimum thickness of the rotors have been tested by the industry. If something else was causing the rotors to warp in the first place that is a different issue. When you replace brake pads you want to remove contaminants by turning to get to a new surface. If your cheap brakes only last 2 years you don't want to be changing rotors every 2 years

yes your are correct thats the reason i said worn out disc, contaminants happen due to lying idle for a long time, then uneven happens when the pads are completely worn out to the mental plate

but did look at the one in the picture

thats a dangerous thing to do to skim a worn our disc especially the one on the photo, the outer side of the disc is completely gone, there is no life left in it

the moment you machine a worn out disc your weakning its structure allready worn out by general wear which happens when breaking, there is nothing to skim on the disc it will too thin you are actaully putting your life at risky

a thin disc will heat up quickly and the disc will warp and it wont be effective at breaking and will damage your break pads, worse scenario it will break apart

What was given to you was learner's permit. The process of driver's license is a long process, though you can do it yourself but not advisable because you might face some bottlenecks while doing it so, I advise you consult the service of an officer ( I am not one and I don't have any but that was how I got mine)

You will need a test certificate number which can only be issued by a confirmed driving school. It takes 3months to get that though, you may know how to drive but you need that to get a driver's license. They cannot do any magic or fake it because they will have to register you and the result certificate will be ready in 3months.

in my native zimbabwe, for you to get a leaner's licence (provisional licence) aka leaner's you need to book 1st for the test @ VID (vehicle inspection department) the test is a theory exam if you pass you get a leaner's licence which is valued for year of which within a year from the date issued you must get your full licence other wise you to resit again to get another leaners licence. so technically it takes just few hours to get your leaners provided you passed the test

so after getting your leaners thats when you can actually start to learn to drive on road with your leaner's licence occupied by a full licence holder, you ethier learn via driving skol (the best option ) or other mean family friend etc

then when your instructor thinks your are ready you book for the practical test, if you pass you get your full licence, they give you the temporal paper one while the mental one gets processed (i dont know now but they should be plastic but they used to be metal even our ID check attached photos )

My Highlander 2006 model was driving well until I decided to change the shaft with a local mechanic. After changing it the refused to change from gear one. At the moment the car only drives with gear one.

We checked and the transmission oil is not leaking.

so when youbsay shaft which one do you mean ? the car looks like a 4x4 which means the car would 5 shafts aka 1 each per wheel =4 then the 5th prop shaft = the one that transfers power to rear wheels


if the car is a rear drive you would get 3 shaft i.e 2drive shaft and prop shaft

so which shaft are you talking about

I wish it was that simple. It's the corrosion at the tire beads... Caused by the local vulcaniser's acidic eba sealant....

any alloy welder would fix it

is the alloy is leaking simple

find the leak and fix it

usually it would be a crack find it, get it welded

your problem would be solved
