Sirheed i dunno any websites in particular but you can try and search online you are bound to find something.

@venuss
Yeah you should start one, it is so good for people who are looking for help and it is also a good way to let people see your designs. Here is another blog i found she's actually really good, she even does wedding dresses http://gbemisoke..com/

This is what I’m working on now, I have already made the dress in red Ankara fabric but it is not the same thing, I only had about 1.5 yards of fabric so the sleeve had to be readjusted. Where I live I don’t have much access to Ankara so I have to make do with whatever I can get from my mum or I find around the house, I also didn’t do it with the neck embellishment. I will try and make the dress again in a different kind of fabric http://whimsyprints..com/2010/11/dresses-dresses-dresses.html

This is another one that I want to get done in about a week or two http://glam.co.uk/2011/11/covet-the-marilyn-monroe-look/oasis-volume-fit-and-flare-dress-30/

Here are some links that I have found to help with the pattern making process

Here’s a YouTube link on how to make a skirt

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6htVUoRp5io

And here’s another link on how to make a top pattern (thing is instead of measuring from the neck as she says I think you should start from your shoulder) you can also lengthen the pattern to make a dress

Aww this is so exciting, I’ve wanted to start a thread on topic this for a while but something always came up, so thank you Venuss for starting this. I’ve been practicing and learning to sew, and I have to say it takes a lot of patience and focus. The problem with your sewing could be the thread but you may also want to get it checked, you can get a Singer machine that tailors use in Nigeria it must be much better

This is the link to a blog that I have been spying on but she doesn’t put up pattern however she does a lot of diy stuff that can be very helpful if you love to revamp your wardrobe http://emblemofbeauty..com/

Also if you have any trouble and need help trying to make something feel free to ask I can always help with creating the pattern or Darhmee as she has offered. I will also try and put up other links that I can find and there are also a lot of things you can find on YouTube

Marriage is all about sacrifices and commitment, why would you get married to someone and promise them 'till death do us part' if you are not willing to go across the world with them, regardless of whether you like it or not. And anyway anyone who will picks their job over a partner has already shown where their heart is.

Yes I did, If he thinks he can get Aids within that period why can't she get pregnant (but then again I was just saying)
Romance / Re: Fear Of Unknown by Damsal(f): 12:51pm On Sep 16, 2011
That's so sad about her rape. But now that you've got over your initial worry about having HIV/AID, maybe your next worry should be what if she's pregnant.
Romance / Re: How Many Guys Can Wait. by Damsal(f): 11:13am On Sep 15, 2011
I agree with what sexkillz has said, we have complete control of our bodies anyone who claims they cannot control themselves has just expressed how weak they are.

And to answer the topic yes there are guys that can wait men with strong religious and moral values, men who see themselves as God's best and would not settle for anything that is less than the best. The Bible would not preach abstinence if it was not possible.
And for your friend tell her that if Joseph could work for Rachel for 14 years there's a man out there who thinks she's worth just the same, she should just keep her mind and spirit centred on God. As people of God we need to start feeding our minds with positive things and not the crap that the world keeps spewing out.

Celebrities / Young And Inspiring Nigerians Under 40 by Damsal(f): 11:24pm On Sep 21, 2010
I hope Seun is not offended that i put his name on my list, i was just looking for young role models and to me you look like the perfect example of one.

After watching the new rich and under 25’s in Hollywood on E! Entertainment which featured the likes of Miley Cyrus, the Jonas brothers and Zac Effron, and realising that in Nigeria there are no child stars except those over grown grandfathers Aki and Paw Paw that Nollywood is still passing off as children. I decided to create a list of Nigerians that I have come across who although may not all be considered young in comparison to Miley Cyrus, are under 40 and really inspiring.

I tried to be as diverse as possible in my search.

1, Genevieve Nnaji

Now you honestly did not believe that I would make a list without this woman, did you? Genevieve Nnaji has graced our screens right from the 90’s and has only got better with age. While in the spotlight she has released a CD, modelled for Lux, released a clothing line, has been acknowledged on Oprah, made the headlines with D’banj and is currently the face of MUD cosmetics. She has done much more in her decade and something long career than most actresses her age have even considered.

2, Uchenna Eze

If you love to Google up the latest Nigerian news then you must have at some point come in contact with Bella naija as it has constantly managed to entertain Nigerian all over the world. Her website is much more centred towards weddings and fashion and every now and then there are articles which although I consider are often rantings by Nigerian women are nonetheless fun to read. Uchenna Eze has also featured on Oprah.

3, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

Is a Nigerian writer who has written books like Half of a Yellow Sun and Purple Hibiscus both of which have won literary awards. Chimamanda’s stories are strongly inspired by Nigeria and its political system which to a novice can be very informative without being overbearing; her stories often have female leads and are set in Nsukka where she grew up.

4, D’banj

Right from the moment D’banj graced our TV screen with Tongolo he has not slowed down getting many hooked to his songs such as, Fall in Love, Suddenly and presently Mr endowed. Although I have to say that I am not often impressed with lyrics such as ‘mo gbono fele fele bi amala to jino’ I do have to say that D’banj has placed a lot of effort into all he has done and African’s around the globe have come to realise that. His energy and excitement can be felt through his performances and it is clear that his glory days are not yet over, his achievements can be seen in his creation of words such as ‘Kokolet’ ‘No long thing’ and slangs such as ‘oooshe’. And I’m sure Mr endowed will be another name added to his already long list of names such as D’banj and Sk’banj as his Jamaican friends call him and the Koko master. He has also indulged in other endorsements such as the Koko lounge, the Koko mansion which was a show that featured on TV last summer and his new mobile phone which is coming out soon called the Koko mobile.

5, Joseph Yobo

Okay so in the World cup the Super Eagles were not super at all, they don’t even deserve an applause, but as the captain of the team Yobo has to make my list, and that’s all I’m saying about him except that he is also married to the beautiful Adaeze Igwe and has a son.

6, Linda Ikeji

Model, blogger, Author you name it she’s probably done it Linda Ikeji is another blogger who has made my list and clearly deserves it. She is an inspiration to many young girls as she has managed to achieve much and provided opportunities for other to do the same through her modelling agency.

7, Seun Osewa

Seun Osewa is a highly opinionated man who is rumoured to have dropped out of school to create his ever expanding social site called Nairaland. And although he is no Mark Zukerberg he has clearly achieved a lot more than others have ever dreamt to achieve. Nairaland boast of at about 500,000 members and constant visitors who occasionally check up on the site.

8, Chuka Umnna

Probably not well known to many but definitely another inspiration to join the list Chuka who is of mixed descent which includes Nigeria, English and Irish has managed to become a Labour member of the Parliament for Streatham. He has been a leading member of a pressure group, has written for a number of British newspapers and presently works as a lawyer. I’m sorry do I hear the next Obama?

I hope this list has inspired many as it has me,  We are not defined by the people around us, our parents, our teachers or friends but by who we decide we want to be, As Descartes famously said ‘I think therefore I am’.
Romance / Who Killed Romance? by Damsal(f): 6:14pm On Aug 23, 2010
I remember when I was in school back in Nigeria when a guy wanted to ask you out it would be a big deal not only for you but for him. He would write you a letter (this was the mid nineties, so mobile phones were just coming out) which was filled with sappy lines like ‘you are the only sugar in my tea or the only cockroach in my cupboard’ by the way this was always in every guys letter, like a law had been passed which required every love letter to include those lines. If he couldn’t write you a letter he would send a friend to ask you if you wanted to go out with him, you were most likely to reply with “I don’t know, I have to think about it” and if you gave back a negative reply he would still spend days trying to get you to say yes. During this period he would buy you gifts such as assorted biscuits, offer to take you to Mr Biggs and if he was good with his words he would write you a couple of songs.

Fast-forward to the present and now we have guys who wait for women to make the first move. I remember having a conversation with a friend about relationships and mid conversation he says ‘I don’t ask girls out they ask me’, let’s just say I had to cover my mind with the blood of Jesus a couple of times to ignore the thoughts that were forming in my head towards him. I mean talk about confident.

So what happened to romance did the independent woman generation kill it or has it just become as old fashioned as chivalry has become. Where women have decided to go after what they want instead of letting it come to them, where romance has become to exhausting and they just want to get straight on with it, or are they too busy buying properties and working long hours to even realise that it’s not there anymore.

Or maybe romance has evolved with time, where text messages have replaced the old love letter and instead of him asking you to be his girlfriend you wait till his facebook status changes to ‘in a relationship’ and instead of you spending hours with your friends deciding what you are going to wear for your next date you’re in the kitchen wearing an old scarf with an oversized t-shirt and jogging bottoms dragging at your feet cooking dinner because you are already living together.

So I ask you who killed romance?

i think u are only looking at things from the surface, maybe she got married at 18 as a virgin got divorced and then all the sexual crap took place since she says they only took place a couple of months ago. So your evidence is probably set out in the wrong order.
Fashion / Re: Nigerian Next Top Model: Beauty With A Purpose! by Damsal(f): 10:40pm On Apr 04, 2007
You guys saying the girls are either ugly or not photogenic i think you missed the girl in the fifth pix she's a total hottie.
And like Ladt T said these girls are nothing to write home about because after my excitement and checking the site i realised that the 'event' is taking place in London and not in Nigeria so they made a mistake with the title 'It's supposed to be Nigerian girls in London trying to rep Niga'
Dating And Meet-up Zone / Re: Most Lagos Girls Are Ugly Why? by Damsal(f): 7:20pm On Apr 02, 2007
Looooooool, seriously i find your post really mean and quite vain. You are not in the position to tell anyone they are ugly and how are you so sure there isn't someone out there who uses your name and the word ugly in the same sentence. You are only as beautiful as you feel and if these girls feel beautiful then they are. And by the way some guys actually find these girls confidence in themselves very attractive rather than the way they physically look.
Romance / Re: Match-making: Does It Really Work? by Damsal(f): 11:24am On Mar 20, 2007
Of course it works. I hooked up ma friends two weeks ago, and all of a sudden i'm talking to her on the phone and i can hear his voice in the background, they are getting on pretty well. They don't always have to be compatible opposites do attract.

Hey Tady, nice to hear you are making progress with your clothes. I am trying to get mine sorted and finished but i got lots of school work going on. I would love to see some of your designs if you wouldn't mind showing me, and if they are in african prints (tie and dye and ankara) then i would love to purchase some, ma cousin is presently in nija and can bring them over for me. (hope they are not too expensive though). You can mail me if you want to chat. And by the way ma name is Yemi.

TV/Movies / Re: Genevieve Nnaji for Hollywood? by Damsal(f): 3:00pm On Feb 11, 2007
Interesting is this becasue she has no talent or casue she aint hot, casue i don't know what more she would need to get into Hollywood.

My bad she would need to be a little bit more fake, get a couple of mugshots and have dated a couple of prolific actors. I guess by then she'll be ready for Hollywood.

zodiac:

omo eko virgins are not freaks
what is freaky here is that u paid a male FRIEND to sleep with your female FRIEND. that is freaky. how do u expect him 2 sleep with her.
it is in a guy's nature to believe that when he sleeps with a virgin, she expects committment.someone who is being paid 2 sleep with another is not ready for committment.

females that are virgins are stronger because they have d will 2 resist temptation from guys. is there anything freaky about being able 2 resist a guy's sexual advances?

Thank you, i was just about to give her a mouthful before i saw you post.

@dough
Yes there are still virgins, not every girl has sex on the brain. And i don't believe you should judge people by their outward appearance, not everything on the inside is reflected outside. And by the way what do you expect girls to wear on the beach a boxers.
