This guy is just using Nigerians to line his pocket. What is the end goal, what is the objective? Even if Tinubu was truly a drug trafficker, it’s not going to stop him becoming president because the law says anything over 10 yrs is irrelevant. So again what is the point, what is he and the likes of Hundeyin moping to achieve?

Family › Re: Men Are Afraid Of Successful Women. by casualobserver: 9:53pm On Apr 19, 2023
Men are not afraid of successful women. Successful women unknowingly tend to become masculine and aggressive which is a trait required to be successful especially in the corporate, business or political space. Women don’t know how to switch back to home mode so they bring the aggression and masculinity home. Men find this character unattractive and unfeminine. That’s all there is to it.
Education › Re: 25% Requirement: Solve This Mathematics Word Problem by casualobserver: 9:44pm On Apr 19, 2023
Obinoscopy:
1. A recruiting firm advertised for a job and people from 36 States and a Territory applied. The recruiting firm was tasked to recruit at least 25% of people from at least two thirds of the States and the Territory. If there are 100 people in each of the States and 120 people from the Territory, what's the minimum number of people the firm should at least employ?

A. 600
B. 620
C. 625
D. 630
E. None of the Above

2. In addition to the requirements above, the recruiting firm was told the Territory is also to be considered as a State. Thus the requirement reads thus: recruit at least 25% of people from at least two thirds of the States and the Territory. And the Territory is to be considered a State. What's the minimum number of people the firm should at least employ?

A. 600
B. 620
C. 625
D. 630
E. None of the Above

Please show your workings. Anyone who shows very clear workings and gets the answer has solved the 25% electoral requirement quagmire that is confusing many people.
The problem is not so much a math problem but an English problem. Most Nigerians speak English but lack English comprehension.

Questions 1 and 2 are the same, again showing your English is poor. The requirement is 2/3rds of 36 states and the territory in any order.

The “and” has included the territory in the whole. To require a separate 25% in the territory the wording would have been “ 25% of people from at least two thirds of the States and 25% in the Territory”.

Since 2/3rds of 37 is 24.67, and the requirement is to find the minimum, the answer is 25% of 24 states and 25% of 2/3rds of the 25th state or territory. Since there are less people in states that the territory, the minimum requirement will be satisfied from states.

25% of 24 states is 600
25% of 2/3rds of the 25th state is 25% x 66.7 = 16.7.

Therefore answer is 617.

I think we are saying the same thing.....

Great you were able to set the differences apart, which is Law versus Convention.....the only place you are wrong is your assumption that, since you have chosen to go with the Convention and therefore went ahead to marry only 1 wife, every other person must therefore go with the Convention and must marry one wife....does that sound logical to you?
I find it amazing how Nigerians read simple English and make assumptions and draw conclusions that one did not make or say. I am responsible for my statements, I am not responsible for your poor English comprehension.

Where in what I said implies the nonsense you wrote there? I will repeating that many Nigerians speak English but lack English comprehension. Comprehension means understanding what was said or written, you clearly lack English comprehension.

Poor English comprehension is now an epidemic in Nigeria. This is the reason why foreign countries require Nigerian students to u dertake English proficiency tests.

ponishah:
I know that our doctors and nurses contribute sometimes to patients' death, every sector in the country is like that too.
But, most times patients die quicker than normal because of expired food, drugs and drinks etc.
Yesterday, Easter Monday, I was feeling weak from malaria symptoms; bitter taste bud and low appetite. So I decided to drink milk and malt at night. Because I lost a healthy neighbour last week, that fear made me remember checking the expiry date of the milk, which I had almost opened.
The milk was produced in 04:22 and expiry date is 04:23, to me it had already expired because of our high temperature. I called the customer that sold it to me, and she said she bought them last month. I have told her to destroy them.

A lot of things we buy are expired items and we eat, drink and get complicated health issues. Most of us forget that soft drinks (minerals) and bear have expiry dates, and whole sellers always sell off the drinks that are very close to expiration at give away to retailers.
And World Health Organization should modify the font and positions of expiration dates on products, especially in third world nations.
NAFDAC died with Dora Akunyili, SON is the most corrupt of all.

PLEASE HELP YOURSELVES, ALWAYS CHECK EXPIRY DATES OF ITEMS BEFORE PAYING FOR THEM, OR AT LEAST BEFORE EATING OR DRINKING THEM.
Maybe we should also do a #ENDNAFDAC, #ENDSON ...

mods, na life matter be this o...
Like I say so often on Nairaland, Nigerians speak English but many do not really understand English. We have a chronic English comprehension epidemic in Nigeria!! It is self explanatory for those who understand English.

There is a difference between expired and best before. Best before is still safe and consumable but the properties of the product may be degraded, for instance, taste, freshness etc. you can consume food labeled “BB” after the BB date but food or medicine that says “EXP” “EX” or expiriy date must not be consumed.

That said once a product has passed it’s best before date it shouldn’t be sold. Normally it is given out to charities, homeless and food banks.

Before each election, the Senate is dissolved…the new Senate can either adopt the old rules or amend them as they see fit using the new majority vote in the Senate.

If the new Senate majority is PDP or APC, you don’t expect them to rubber stamp a rule put in place by the previous opposition who were majority at that time….that is not how democracy works.

The only thing that survives each Senate session is the Constitution, if it aren’t in the Constitution it is just a gentleman agreement be it ranking, zoning, etc…a new majority can use their newly given powers by the voters to trash all previous rules and zoning agreements unless the old club that put it in place can still muster a majority vote to sustain it!
Nigerian law also allows me to marry as many wives as I wish but I only have 1 because that is the convention. I don’t get your point or it’s relevance. This is not one party taking over from another and conventions are conventions put in place by senators not parties. They themselves es will tell you their rules are not partisan.

Now, from the above list: From the first Senate President , Nnamdi Azikiwe, to the ninth Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, they were all beginners. Thus, given that 9 of the 14 Senate Presidents in the past were first-timers, what is the rationale behind the so-called Senate rule?
very crafty but disingenuous comment. All the scenarios you mentioned occurred in new democratic dispensations where there were no ranking members so all senators were equal....anyone who emerged SP was by default a new member because all members were new, no senator outranked another. In all the scenarios you listed, a 1st timer had to emerge SP because there were NO ranking members, the only occasion where there were ranking members (oct-dec83) a ranking member was re-elected (Wayas). Feel free to disprove or present a scenario where ranking members existed and a newbie emerged SP.

I have no problem with Oshiomole as SP but he is a new senator and ranking rules should be respected.

I would like to believe there are still men that are faithful To their women in relationships. And despite the narrative not all men cheat.

So faithful Men of nairaland, how do you manage to remain faithful?
Stop looking for what does not exist. Men and women are not naturally faithful. A woman is faithful because she hasn’t got better options or she can’t afford to jeopardize what she has and a man is faithful because he hasn’t got the opportunities or he can’t get it up. It’s as simple as that.

If Dangote or Denzel Washington was pursuing your wife would she cave in? If Beyoncé was pursuing your husband would he cave in? That’s your answer!

Cabin pressure makes me partially lose my hearing abilities when I travel.

There are trips that air turbulence makes everyone to cover their faces and begin to pray for forgiveness.

Then there's a human being who genuinely believes that he can make it up there outside the airplane. Wow 😳
the bottom line is there is not enough breathable air above 20,000 ft. Commercial planes travel at an average of 30-35,000ft where there is not enough oxygen in the air at that elevation. It is for a similar reason that it is difficult to climb mountains like Kilimanjaro that are not even as high. It is also the reason all planes have oxygen masks. To combat this, the cabin of airliners are pressurized so that there is more oxygen per unit volume of air but that pressurization does not extend to the wheel well or baggage area. in addition to this the temperature at that level is between -41 and -51 degrees celcius, therefore if you smuggle yourself into an aircraft's wheel well, you are effectively smuggling yourself into your coffin.

Like someone posted Nigeria did not fall with kerosene and diesel subsidy removal and they are the most important fuels for the productive and the poorest sectors of the economy.

Romance › Re: Is It Proper To Ask A Girl You Want To Marry If She Committed Abortion Before? by casualobserver:
BeStroNG:
Man got to be wary with the way things are. No man would want to marry a woman who had destroyed her womb via abortion. Some girls have committed more than 5 abortion and may have destroyed their womb in the process. Imagine getting married to such a lady. If the womb is intact and the man is fertile, pregnancy cannot be an issue.

I'm trying to take that bold step by asking her if she had committed abortion before.

What do you think guys? Is it going to bring "wahala"?

Should I ask her or not?
Do you prefer the wahala of marrying a girl and then find out she can’t give you children? Trust me if that happens anybody you tell will say why did t you find out before you married.

If a woman is offended it is because she has something to hide. A woman who hasn’t will be proud to answer. That said because a woman says no doesn’t means she hasn’t had one.

Either way you have a right to know and in fact it is your duty to ask, even if she lies to you. What I will say is never believe what a woman tells you on issues like this without corroboration except the news is bad. When a woman says she's never had an abortion, her body count, her life story, the way she conducts herself, her sexual experience, her friends etc etc has to match. The only time you should ever believe a woman on matters like this without needing additional corroboration is if the news is bad.
