UPDATE : our source has it that FG has likely become broke, hence the delay and non payment of February salary in MDAs and federal tertiary institutions. Currently, not all employees in MDAs have received February salary despite being on IPPIS, while no employee has been paid in federal tertiary institutions, either teaching or not teaching.

I just love ASUU. That Union fears no 'baga'. Non academic unions are just bunches of cowards. If it was ASUU that enrolled in IPPIS like other union members and the new minimum wage and its arrears are not paid in January, they would have embarked on strike since.

Their bravery and proactiveness is the reason it seems government and management of schools fear them

UPDATE: ASUU is currently holding meeting in each institution regarding the delay in FEBRUARY Salary. If they do not get salary in the next 24hrs, their members are being requested to stop coming to work. This is what the likes of SSANU and the rest cannot dare.

This is an old news. We want a fresh update.

BTW, IPPIS or not, have workers in Federal academic institutions started receiving alerts for February salary? Everybody, what is the update in your institutions?
Tessyy1701:
There is a dilemma as to the modalities to be adopted for the payment of the February salary for federal University workers based on the January experience with the government failure to implement the payment of varsity workers using the Integrated Personnel Payment Information System (IPPIS). A source close to the branch Chairman of Nigerian University Administrative and Technical Staff Union (NUATSU) of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife said we are afraid the old salary structure may be use to compute the payment of February salary again as the government has not make necessary provision to commence payment using IPPIS for University workers because of the aggrieved Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) that are still dissatisfied with the new system of payment to federal workers. At University of Ibadan, a source had it that table for old and new salary has been prepared but the implementation of the new wage will be dependent of the federal government decision based on the money received by the University, he added that there is high tendency that the IPPIS will be used to make payment of varsity workers across the country which means new minimum wage would be paid to workers enrolled on IPPIS.

The Accountant General has requested for the compilation of list of members of Academic Staffs and Non-Academic staffs including Academic Technologist to be sent by federal universities to enable deduction of dues to be remmitted to the unions which may likely imply that the IPPIS would be used to make payment of February salary to workers. Meanwhile it has been observed that non-academic staffs want IPPIS for payment of their salary as they do not trust the payment system of University administrators based on allegation of double deduction of some fund on their salary aside backlog of allowances and arrears University administrators are owing workers.

Family / Re: Do I Need A Registry Marriage After A Church Marriage? Lawyers In The House by cerpvad(m): 11:12am On Mar 01, 2020
Hello. Like you said, a bigger church can collect the form from the registry on your behalf and you will drop a copy off at the registry at end of the wedding ceremony.

Please what happens, if the couple do not drop off the copy at registry office at the end of the wedding ceremony. Will the marriage still be a valid one legally?
blank:

The normal process is to go to your preferred registry and inform them that you are getting married in a registered church. They will give you the forms and some other processes. You take it to the church and they witness and sign it for you (during your wedding ceremony). Then you take a copy back to the registry. The first part is very important and churches who know what they are doing will ensure you don't bypass it.

If it's a bigger branch, they will collect from the registry on your behalf and then you drop the copy with the registry.

This is the update I gave yesterday. Guys, let's all be warming up for Aluta
cerpvad:
Update reaching me on IPPIS for Federal University workers is that we will be paid what we were paid last month.
What does this imply?

1. Implementation of Minimum wage has not taken effect for Federal University workers
2. Our arrears is now 11 months rather nine months
3. There is no idea or any hope in sight about when the implementation will take effect and arrears paid ,as FG appears redundant about the IPPIS issues.
4. There may be industrial action possibly a week after this month salary is paid.

Check out the bolded statements bruh. If you cannot cope with those conditions highlighted in the bold statements, no advice on Nairaland can work for you. It is either you accept her and the child or you get out of her life. You are even lucky its only one child. I have seen guys who married a single mom of two, three or four children and they are all happy living together.

Be ready to accept the boy and start showing him love. This way, her mother will have trust that you have good intention for her and her child.

It is time we all started being truly human and let love prevail no matter the situation.
WilliamsTheGrea:
Hello everyone, my name is Williams, I'm a young guy of 26 years old currently engaged to a very pretty young lady who is 24 years old

I do business online and earn good income before I decided to find a lady and settle down with and luckily I found a good one who is decent and don't flirt around or do social media's like whatsapp or Facebook. Hardly receives calls, not friendly with males lol (I managed to woo her through a church member)

We have been 1 year into the relationship now and we are to get married next month but guys the problem I am having now is that she has a child for another man which is her ex she was with when she was young she gave birth at age 20, we dated for about 7 months before she told me this.

Ever since then I haven't really been myself, the child is a male child who lives with her mother but recently the mother called her to come carry the child as she can no longer look after him due to him being a very stubborn boy, the child is 4 years old.

Now she has gone to bring the child to our home, a two bedroom apartment, I'm a kind of guy who loves peaceful environment with no single drop of noise, now ever since the child came in about a week now, I have not had peace, we have quarreled several times because of the child, I'm not really comfortable with the child because I can't love another man's child as my own

My girlfriend is yet to give me a child of my own, the child runs around and doesn't listen except when beaten and each time I beat the boy up when he does wrong my girlfriend looks at me with hatred like I'm maltreating the boy because I'm not the father.

Please guys help me I don't know what to do but I can't cope with the child, I remember paying the child school fees about 3 times since we are together because the child's father isn't doing anything at all.

Now today is the child's birthday and she is asking me for money to get him cake and take him out.

My people of nairaland I cannot accept another man's child no matter what I love the mother but not the child the connection is just now there because the boy isn't of my character I'm a calm man, very calm but the boy is very radical and stubborn children irritate me so much.

I don't know what to do.

Each time this child topic comes up between I and my girlfriend she becomes bitter.

She says she will never take the child to the father or the family of the father that she must raise the child herself.

I don't think I can help train anothrr man child whom in the end will go and find his father after he is all grown.

Please I need advice, she says over her death body will she return the child to the father

I'm not comfortable in my own home.

A lot of things running through my mind like to break up with her for peace to reign

Or rent another apartment for her and the boy to go live in.

Please I need matured advice

Did you say no sex for the past 3 years? That statement makes your story seem fake. You are in a a marriage and you are not having sex for the past three years? What is your husband saying about that? How do you two dispense sexual urges. Perhaps you are getting it from a man out there and he is also being served by another woman outside. The two of you should stop deceiving each other.

Clear advice. Tell your husband how you feel and advise him to go and marry another woman while you quit the marriage.
Girlwhocares:
Please help me, I'm loosing my sanity everyday!
I'm scared to open up to friends and families because of what they will think or how disappointed or bad I will make them feel, also I'm afraid people will be judgemental about my actions.

I'm not physically and emotional connected with my husband which is affecting our marriage and my well-being, we live as co-tenant, we hardly have any conversation, we do things differently, we share different rooms, no sex for the past 3 years! Even during courtship and the fist two years of marriage I can account for days we were intimate.

Things are fallen out of place everyday, we have a child together who will be 4yrs and the thought of having another child has not crossed my mind.

I get irritated at everything, I hardly show appreciation towards him even if it means he has done his best, which later i will find myself guilty and try to make up but the spark and connection isn't just there.

Most times, I have a non-challant attitude towards him and everything he does to make me happy.

I feel lonely, bored and incomplete even when I'm 90% sure my husband loves me and always ready to make me happy.

I feel awkward communicating my feelings and thoughts to him because I know I might flare up with anger even when he hasn't done or said anything to warrant it.

Please I have come to this faceless forum to pour out my mind, my heart is heavy, I need someone to talk to, I'm afraid my personal intention of walking out this marriage even when my husband hasn't done anything to deserve this might backfire and has its negative effect on our child.

I honestly don't need anyone to insult me please as I'm going through a lot. All i need is mature married wo(men) opinions

Thank you for your time.

Family / Re: Best Way To Get A Divorce Done And Cheap by cerpvad(m): 5:20pm On Feb 19, 2020
THE PRINCIPLE OF NO FAULT DIVORCE IN NIGERIA
A no-fault divorce is a form of dissolution of marriage where the proof of wrongdoing is not required to be shown by either party. A no fault divorce in Nigeria are indirectly provided by the virtue of the Section 15(1) and Section 15 (2) ( e ) and ( f ) of the Matrimonial Causes Act L.F.N. 1990 (the Act)
Before analyzing the Nigerian provisions of laws stipulated above, it is worthy of the note to state that no law expressly provided for no fault divorce in Nigeria unlike what is currently available in all states of the United States where couple or a spouse may bring a divorce petition merely on irreconcilable differences without necessarily alleging any wrongdoing or trade blames.
Under the Nigerian law, a party seeking to divorce is mandated to satisfy the provision of Section 15(1) of the Matrimonial Causes Act, which provides as follows:
“A petition under this Decree (Act) by a party to a marriage for a decree of dissolution of the marriage may be presented to the court by either party to the marriage upon the ground that the marriage has broken down irretrievably”.
Unlike in the United States of America where a party can just assert the above ground without any further proof, under the Nigerian law, a party seeking to divorce must also comply with the provisions of Section 15 (2) of the Act, which provides as follows:
The court hearing a petition for a decree of dissolution of a marriage shall hold the marriage to have broken down irretrievably if, but only if, the petitioner satisfies the court of one or more of the following facts:

1. a) That the respondent has willingly and persistently refused to consummate the marriage. For this fact to be pleaded, the petitioner must prove that the respondent has failed to have sexual intercourse h he/she, but where it is proved that sex occurred even once, the marriage will be deemed consummated and therefore the petitioner cannot rely on this ground for divorce.

2. b) That since the marriage the respondent has committed adultery and the petitioner finds it intolerable to live with the respondent. For this fact to hold water in court, the petitioner must prove that not only does the other party commit adultery, but he/she finds it unbearable to live with such infidelity.

3. c) That since the marriage the respondent has behaved in such a way that the petitioner cannot reasonably be expected to live with the respondent.

4. d) That the respondent has deserted the petitioner for a continuous period of at least one year immediately preceding the presentation of the petition. The desertion means that the respondent has abandoned the matrimonial home without justification.

5. e) That the parties to the marriage have lived apart for a continuous period of at least 2 years immediately preceding the presentation of the petition does not object to the decree of dissolution being granted

6. f) That the parties to the marriage have lived apart for a continuous period of at least three years immediately preceding the presentation of the petition

7. g) That the other party to the marriage has for a period of not less than one year failed to comply with a decree of restitution of conjugal right made under the Marriage Causes Act.

8. h) That the other party to the marriage has been absent from the petitioner for such time and in such circumstances has to provide reasonable grounds for presuming that he/ she is dead.
It is obvious that the process for divorce in Nigeria is largely predicated on a fault basis. The Nigerian current system of divorce was largely copied from the British adversarial divorce process, which its change or amendment is likely to take place in year 2020 pursuant to the proposed legislation in English parliament.
However, considering the Section 15(2) (e) and (f) of the Matrimonial Causes Act of Nigeria, it is obvious some sort of limited no fault divorce are available for couple who intend to divorce without necessarily throw any blames.
Section 15(2) ( e ) of the Act allows couple to file for divorce without trading any blames only if the couple have been separated for a period of two years and they both consented to divorce. With the provision of this Act, either of the couple who have not cohabited for two years can file for a divorce without alleging or apportioning any blame to the other party, provided he or she will not oppose the divorce.
Another provision for a limited no fault divorce in Nigeria is the provision of Section 15(2) (f) of the Act which provides that where the couple have lived apart for a period of at least 3 years immediately preceding the presentation of the divorce petition. This implies that a couple who have lived apart for a minimum of three years needs not to provide further facts by apportioning blames to the other party in order to get a divorce. In the case of Ochei v. Ochei (1973) E.C.S.N.L.R., it was affirmed that a divorce court has no further discretion to exercise as to which of the party who caused the living apart when the Oputa J. stated as follows “ … the court has not got to consider the domestic history of the parties in order to decide who is the guilty party in the living apart”
In conclusion, it is right to conclude that there is a limited no fault divorce allowed in Nigeria, but strictly subject to the provisions of Section 15(2) (e)(f). The major benefit of the no-fault divorce is that it enables the family who are going through difficulties of divorce to suffer no additional pain of having have to divulge the privileged family information to a public court, which may further affect the quick healing and recovery needed by the couple, especially when they still both have children together who may suffer the consequence of the family separation.

Teezzbond:
Once a marriage conducted under the Act is two years, you do not require the leave of Court to file a petition for the dissolution of marriage (or divorce papers).

Once the marriage has been consummated, the issue of sex or lack of it is no longer an issue so kindly ignore the advice to "stop having sex", it matters not.

You need a lawyer if you want to dissolve your marriage conducted under the Act, the Court must be the one to dissolve it even if both of you (the husband and wife) are in agreement. Kindly contact a lawyer for proper advice.

If it is the mutual decision of the two of you to get divorce, the matter will be faster. You may not even have to rush the divorce process in court. But if she refuses to divorce you, that's where the problem lies because you will not be able to remarry and move on with your life until the court grants the divorce in your favor.

Since its Marriage under the Act, the court cannot accept your divorce petition now. You will have to wait till the marriage clocks three years and during this period, don't have sex with her. If you have sex with her, you will start counting another three years from when you have the sex before you can file a divorce again.
