How do most of you ladies interpret someone addressing you using any of Mummy or Madam or Ma that you frown at it? To me it's no biggie but most of you don't like it
LOL... I once had an ED who fired a junior staff just because the girl kept greeting her using the words 'ma' and 'madam'...

This is no joke, and I kid you not.

Although she claimed she had warned her before to stop, but I still didn't understand the outrage. cheesy

Personally, I think it depends on the personality of the woman involved. This particular one was well known for wearing her emotions on her sleeves... anything could trigger her.
I can't even remember how I coped working directly under Ivy for that long... grin

After the whole function when we got back I was very angry not because of the shabby execution of a well planned marriage but the facts the she thinks I should commend her for her efforts and stress she went through and not the opposite. The way I look at the issue is like you registered for a course with 50 points as benchmark then u score 15 and you're expecting a "part on the back" or songs of praise. I ain't perfect but I love excellence, my sadness lies in the facts that I don't want to start our home with discord at the same time i can't tolerate or live with this kind of argument. The argument is that she claims it wasn't her fault, the people she designated could not meet up to expectations but every of the plans were drawn by just two of us only. Imaging spending so much to get very little outcome.

If you're in this situation what will you do? Thanks
I don't think a lot of people who have commented here even understood where you're coming from.

I too would be angry if she thinks I ought to commend her efforts after such a shabby execution.

What I think you should do, is to let her know you're not happy with the way the entire thing turned out and that although you're not blaming her for all of it, she should not expect that you give her a pat on the back either.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Rwanda Is Demolishing Slums And Providing Affordable Housing To The People by crackhaus: 8:55pm On Dec 25, 2020
Aconomist:
The Rwandan government fears it's citizens. If they don't deliver development, they will be overthrown. Nigerians suffer and smile so our government sees us as dumb slaves.
Apart from this, another major reason why Nigeria lacks development is the mentality of "I have arrived..."

Nigerians are more concerned with looking/appearing more comfortable than the next person, and once that happens, there's this feeling of satisfaction.

As long as they are not suffering or doing too bad, then Nigeria is not as bad as others make it seem. This in turn translates into a lackadaisical attitude towards development.
Family › Re: Is It Right For My Niece's Boyfriend To Visit Her In My House? by crackhaus:
Some elements of your story OP are not tying up properly for me...

1. Your niece is bold enough to invite her boyfriend over to your house without prior notice.
2. She's also bold enough to introduce him as her boyfriend to your face.
3. And then the ultimate display of boldness was to lead him to her bedroom where they spent three hours.

How? Why?

Na wah oo...
It feels as if you're the visitor in that house and she's the owner, because that's the only way any of this will make sense. cheesy

Okay let's go with it for a minute and assume this is all for real, why is your wife stopping you from talking?
You have a right to be upset, you have a right to lash out... this is not something you should be afraid to step on toes for.

As a matter of fact, it is YOUR duty to call your niece to order... NOT your wife's duty.
The girl is your niece, your own relative...
Whatever you do to reprimand her will be taken more lightly since you're her uncle by blood. Don't even let your wife be the one to chook mouth because the niece can go report her and twist it to make your wife appear like the bad person.

Just imagine, she say she want to counsel her gently... Lol
Pikin wey nor get respect for her host family.
You should drag her ears well well sef, I'm sure her parents will thank you for it.

As per the topic, actually, I have repeatedly talked about that on my other handle. Was just pulling your legs. How a marriage will be is defined before wedding. Once I attend any wedding, I will tell you if that marriage will be like cat and dog or peaceful. We are so materialistic yet so lazy but want good things to fall from heaven so we can brag on Instagram and the like. And tomorrow if things don't go our way, we start hating and cursing.

But I blame men who enable this nonsense. Men that think with their dikk instead of brain. Gives them controlling power. Of all the powers to seek, it's power to control women. Weak men everywhere. Shuuuuuuu.
I blame them too. If more men were like me, most of your sisters will not see iPhone to use or bone straight to wear. grin

Compliments of the season to you too mamacita...

bukatyne:
1. You missed a key element: madam OP does not work; she volunteers 12 hours a week. That is less than two hours daily. You cannot compare someone who works 2 hours a day with maids to someone who works more than 12 hours outside the house.

2. Feminism ( the first definition) talks about equal opportunities for men and women aka giving women the same opportunities the men have.

How does this tie into the gender roles this couple have chosen for themselves?

They run the traditional form of marriage at its core: wife keep house, husband provide.

How does this model suggest inequality? Or one person (the wife 'inferior' or 'subordinate') to the husband?

3. Women want different things. Some want the cash and all its pecks; some want a bit of romance; some want a great deal of romance. Also, some are passionate about family alone, some women love to wear many hats and be into many things; some want to work just to earn; some have their worth tied to their ability to earn etc.

4. Men are also different. Some would like the OP; some want a wife who works for clout; some want a high flyer; some want a earning and financially contributing wife; some want a wife who has a corner store so she can be available to attend to the family's needs etc.

Each person should know themselves and pick spouses that best suits them.
Buka let's summarize the issue and not dilly-dally...

The truth is that women these days (of a certain generation and below) want it ALL.

They want a man who will provide the millions while making out time to massage their bodies & legs, cook for them, buy them whatever they want, take them out to fancy places, all without demanding anything too much from them in return.

As far as they are concerned, their wombs and vaginas which holds and bears the man's children, is enough.

binghammer:
Guys, is sponsoring a Nigerian woman to a western country through marriage in the same category as paying her school fees because you are dating her? Would you do this? What if you guys have been dating for several years before you travel to the western country? Would you reconsider because of this?
Then she should have been working on relocating as well while both of you were dating all those years, just as you were working on yours.

Personally, this is how I separate an opportunist from a serious woman.

Why would she just sit around, she nor even get international passport, never paid any visa processing fees, or made any financial moves personally to show she is interested in traveling... then all of a sudden, once you relocate successfully, she will now expect you to bring her over through marriage? That's nuts...
