The CBN governor and the President of Nigeria should not come from the same geo political zone. I believe GEJ knows this.

Elueme: I don't see how this is a big deal. A plane returned back to the air because the tarmac was not free is not like a plane almost crashed. Then facing turbulence or piloting via the sky should as well be a near miss. I sense sabotage
Go check the records. The only time this was practiced in Nigeria, the DC10 owned by the defunct Nigeria Airways crashed and burnt into ashes. Taking off when almost on the runway is one of the most dangerous manouvres an aircraft can take. It is so very silly and insane for the control to have asked that aircraft to land in that situation and it shows how sick that sector is.

I wonder. A house is burning inside and landlord asks the painter to continue to paint the walls!

Obviously a very dangerous manouvre. Thank God it did not cause another mayhem. Aviation in Nigeria really stinks! Forget about the decorations and face-lifting taking place. There is no real vibrant idea to take the sector forward in the past months. Regulation seems to have gone comatose.

We have a non-performing government. Period!

The bank mentioned and the car dealer should explain to Nigerians how 2 cars can cost that much. Are the engines made of diamond?

Imagine that I am the only seller of CocaCola in Nigeria, should the government be stupid enough to buy a bottle of it for Two thousand naira?

Wetin? Nigeria is bleeding! Nigerians are the enemies of Nigeria.

How this help in ending the strike?

Her excellency can release N225million for the purchase of 2 cars for a public servant but when you need to release N200,000 to pay a professor for a job done then the country suddenly does not have money! That is why most professors drive soon-to-be-banned tokunbo cars!

He did as expected.

No kudos for that! In sane countries it is regarded as a crime to ignore accident victims. Here in Nigeria, it is national news if a govvernor or a president stops to attend to victims. What else should he have done?

No kudos at all for that and it is definitely not a piece for national news, except for idle stations like NTA etc.
Politics › Re: NCAA Bought N225m Cars For Operations by Dee60: 3:16pm On Oct 19, 2013
Why would this fellow in NCAA insult the intelligence of Nigerians? It can only be because he and cohorts all think we have a weak oga at the top!

He has bought 2 super luxury cars for 'operations' in a country where FG claims not to have money to pay professors and lecturers!

take dat: The idea that because other politicians at the national level are rogues, therefore, it is okay for Igbo politicians to be thieves is just beyond sensible comprehension. What you find reprehensible in others, you must also find reprehensive in your own. How do we then fight this mess when certain people embark on ethnic-mobilized solidarity and support for the corrupt? It is people like you who encourage the culture of thievery and hubris. Proponent of 'he or she can continue to run Nigeria aground in the sandbanks of corruption and mediocrity, as long as he/she is our own, we must rally support for them'.
You may not realize how many 'attack dogs' are paid to stay on NL to use regional sentiments to attack any anti-government comment! Just wait till you see how many people will hit at your comment! The cluelessness that people spoke about is suddenly now turning into tyranny.
Politics › Re: Aviation Ministry Confirms N255m Vehicles Purchase For Oduah by Dee60: 12:16pm On Oct 17, 2013
If this minister buys 2 cars for N255million, then let us multiply that by 49 ministers, we will get N12.9 billion. Please add one car each for the 50 or so aides of Aso Rock, then you will have another N6.5 billion. The President and first lady must have like 30 each because of the 'security risk' and that means about N15billion on cars. National Assembly has 108 senators meaning another N27billion if they have 2 bullet proof cars each. Double that for the house and you have another N54 billion. We can go on an on! Governors, Friends of the Governors, Committee heads of several FG committees, Heads of FG parastatals, Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Amnesty chiefs, etcetera...

Naija we hail thee! No wonder our teeming millions of youths have lost hope in this nation!

Politics › Re: Tinubu - Jonathan Better-off In Nollywood Than In Aso Rock by Dee60: 11:59am On Oct 16, 2013
Yesterday, the President said with his own mouth that the outcome of the conference will be sent to National Assembly to ratify! I was quite ashamed to hear that. What do Nigerians expect national assembly to do with such report?

HABA! Why waste time and money?

Nigeria has been talking since 1960 and failing to walk the talk! Talk, talk, talk, and yet another talk! Committee to set agenda and another committee to ratify, and another committee to arrange talks and after all that it goes to another committee in the house, and then it finally goes on the shelf, like many other previous reports!

We need less talk and more action!

How many committees now and ASUU is still on strike. One day, we would realize the committees to resolve ASUU crisis has spent N200billion to sit, and that will be double of what ASUU is asking for!

Are we high on something in this country?

FG will place an economist or banker in charge of finance ministry. Why not do the same for the aviation ministry? Dear President, please listen and do not play politics with human lives. It is high time we allowed a sound and experienced aviation person to manage that ministry.
Travel › Re: Pilots Were Arguing Before Agagu's Plane Crashed - Blackbox by Dee60: 11:32pm On Oct 11, 2013
What a hopeless situation we have here with people defending a minister or a ministry under whose coverage this has happened. So pathetic that Nigerians have become stupidly tribalistic. There is a clear suspicion that the aircraft was not airworthy. If that is the case, there is no way the ministry of aviation can be absolved. That ministry should just own up and clean up.
Education › Re: NASU, ASUU, Others Threaten To Shut Down UNN by Dee60: 11:09am On Oct 10, 2013
FG should be commit 5% of the money for the planned trillion naira Centenary celebrations to solve ASUU's problems. Why would we celebrate when the youths are confined to their homes doing nothing, indeed some have gone into various viles (kidnapping, prostitution etc - idle mind is the devil's workshop)!

solomon111: Nigerians have short memories.
The same OBJ that was a tyrant.
The same OBJ that embezzled $16billion meant for power reforms.
The same OBJ that was not able to reactivate our railway sector and repair our roads.
The same OBJ,under whose tenure the aviation sector was a complete mess.
The same OBJ under whose tenure pensioners were dying off like fowls before getting their pension.
The same OBJ that unconstitutionally witheld the federal allocation of a state for years.
The same OBJ under whose tenure price of fuel was never constant and NLC were always going on strike.
The same obj under whose tenure inflation was in double-digits,e.t.c.
Smh.
The only thing OBJ did well was taming troublesome northern elements, and GEJ will have to learn how to.
Which country do you reside in?
Politics › Re: Comparing Legacies - Obasanjo Vs Goodluck Jonathan by Dee60: 12:07pm On Oct 08, 2013
OBJ tenure showed dynamism while on the other hand things look quite static with the new regime.

We saw a lot of happenings with every sector - ports, customs, telecoms, aviation, power, anti-corruption, education (new private universities), ebt cancellation, introduction of vibrant hands like Okonjo, Nnaji, etc.

Now things look static - except for power where they just issued out licences! ope that works out fine.

GEJ has not been able to catch and prosecute people for corruption. Yet, there are allegations of massive looting going on.

Now, they are building up the debts again.

There is a lot of inexperience being displayed today!
Politics › Re: 3.2 Trillion Naira For Centenary Village! by Dee60: 10:18am On Oct 08, 2013
Export Free Zone is an hinterland location! A bit strange. Well, we pray that they get investors. FG must put no money into this so we do not end up with another white elephant like Abuja stadium that is used for nothing!

Investors would rather put money on Atlantic City which GEJ and Clinton jointly praised.

passion007: Ignorant people on this thread.
First, you should learn not to quote people out of context.
She clearly continued in the very next sentence:

She said notwithstanding this
reality, the Federal Government
would continue to ensure there
were no accidents.

Since you must be spoon-fed, let me explain it to you.
The Titanic, in its heyday, represented the best maritime technology could innovate, so much so that it's motto was "Not even God can sink it"
It capsized, eventually, as we know.

Kindly desist from painting Odua as insensitive.
More importantly, do not quote people out of context.

RIP to the victims of the accident once again.
.
It is totally out of place to call it an 'act of God'. Better to call it an accident. It is important to also see aviation beyond aesthetics. We need world class professionals and procedures in place and we of course beyond all these need God's mercies. We were told that the pilot of that aircraft may have been stressed before the flight just because of common car park that was not available for him which made him go round and round and ending up begging some people to get his car parked. Pilots in Nigeria are not well treated and they are owed months of unpaid salaries. Aviation Ministry pretends not to know that. They are waiting for pilots to start their own 'ASUU" strike.

The scorecard of Aviation is poor. Madam needs to admit that and get back to the root causes instead of calling it an 'act of God'. In a sane country she would have been removed for that kind of statement!
