Most multinationals in Nigeria treat their employees shamelessly. The Asians treat them like dogs! If there are exceptions, those are few. This is known to those in government and also very much known to journalists. This is why those companies spend a fortune bribing government officials, taking journalists on expensive sponsored trips to different parts of the world and also bribing labour officials. These foreigners know that they could never try all these things in their home countries. They see Nigeria, not as third world but as 'lost world' country. They abuse our leaders and mock them when they talk,, but shower praises on them when they visit government houses. I do not blame them. I blame our corrupt leaders and our very corrupt system. |
This PDP fellow has grossly misfired. It is a pity that most of the statements credited to PDP people show how far away from reality they are. That is the same way they goofed in the Edo Widow's case. They are the ones that need to learn! The people of Lagos will rather go with a Fasola that is autocratic than a PDP government that achieves ZERO accross the board! |
Evidence without cash can lead to further confusion! Please show the cash and publish so ASUU would no longer have excuses. |
Amaechi can rest a bit now that Mr Wiks has launched a new war! |
What about the boy seated beside the woman? They forgot to offer him tea? |
bigtt76: This is totally ridiculous with every semblance to the colonial days when the slave masters keep slaves for pleasure. Point is did he need to insult the poor woman and only retract steps later after being bashed nationwide on social networks? We should not applaud this and the woman should be advised to return such money cos it makes mockery of the woman's status as well as those of millions nationwide suffering under the sun becos of these thieves we call politicians #nonsensePlease learn from Oshiomole and quickly apologize for your comments Just write - 'I APOLOGIZE'. That will turn things around and you will get praised. You may even see one volunteer to dash you your own N2million! Just a suggestion. |
PDP = 250,0000 APC = 2,000,000 APGA = ![]() LP = ![]() SNG = ![]() This woman will soon be flown in a private jet to Dubai or London! |
When you play too much politics, lies start to sound like truth to you! Nigeria's money is better spent on improving education and equipping the Police than in buying armoured cars for a minister who already has loads of cars! Imagine that 2 armoured cars bought by FG could buy 56 equipped cars for Police patrol! ASUU, please call of the strike for the sake of our students. FG, please EXECUTE the agreement for the sake of our students. Wike, Fagge et al, stop the mouthing! get to action. |
We are now exporting our odious air to foreign lands after saturating the country with our stench of corruption! |
So why did they strike in the first place? |
Greek gift. People Deceiving People. The rats have infested NL with their propaganda. |
When 2 elephants fight, the grass suffers the brunt...! The move by FG as announced by the minister may just as well put a final lid to university education in Nigeria. While this continues all the government people are sending their children to top schools abroad where lecturers are respected and very well paid. When their clildren graduate, they expect them to come back to Nigeria to continue the lootocracy where their parents stopped! I ask a question, would the resuming lecturers forfeit 5 months salary? I am not a member of ASUU but I think that unless the conditions in our universities are improved we will continue to run around in circles! If FG has agreed to some terms, why not sign and implement? Let everyone remember this - once the education system collapses, the nation is as good as gone! |
You must understand that words have no meanings except the meanings we give them! Crinkum Crankum means brouhaha brouhahatum! Honourable Patrick, please ride on. The few people with superior medula endowment can congrously comprehend the silocular dimensions of your grammatical deliveries coming from a compedium of lateral and vertical convergence of liturata and ejaculated verbosely from not a less learned homo sapiens than the honourable himself! |
ajalaolanr: Nonsense right?Complete arrant nonsense. The regimes keep getting worse everytime and in my opinion, this is the worst yet! |
egift: Nigeria have the capacity and human-resources to be a very great and prosperous Nation.I like your optimism and the optimism of other commentators here. But I think the problem goes beyond what you think. Many of the leaders we have had, including our present leader, actually do mean well but quickly get overwhelmed when they get to power. The problem is more complex. The best leaders, when voted in, would face the same hurdles and they will soon find that being a good leader is good, but may not solve it! In fact, I think some of these so called leaders are no longer in control! The country needs to be re-structured into something more manageable. We do not need to break up the country but we need to create autonomies and a lean centre. It makes no sense to expect one Police Force to manage 36 states. It makes no sense to have 36 government houses, all having huge personal security budgets. We do need 36 different houses of assembly, all trying to do the bidding of their governments. Nigeria needs 6 states and 36 LGAs. |
What is Nigeria's number 1 challenge? I dare say that it is not corruption. Corruption is massive but that is only a symptom. Our structure is the PROBLEM! We need only 6 states (or call it regions or provinces)! We need only 6 governors and only 6 state houses. We need a very lean centre. Let South West have one governor and one parliament. That reduces government spendings. Let the private sector run the economy. Then we will start to have true growth and true development. |
Ko si arugbo ni Bayelsa! |
Please pay ASUU people and let the schools resume. Thanks |

egift: Stop being ignorant. It is the law in Nigeria and every other country: whenever there is a disput between a worker and employee, if it results to strike, the employees will get paid in full with all the relevant benefits as long as they are still validly employed.Shows you what the problem is! |
Our students are aggrieved and need our support to have this strike called off. At the same time, if FG does nothing to meet the lecturers' demands, and the strike is called off, the result will be worse. It is bad enough now that no one wants to take to the profession of lecturing because of the poor perks, and it will get worse as the few good ones remaining will go and look for jobs in banks and bureau de change for better salaries. I am not a lecturer but know about the plight of hardworking young and innocent ones. What do we gain if we continue to breed zero-baked and half-baked graduates from universities. FG, save our education and make some gestures to these lecturers (gestures with action). The time to do that is now! |
There is nothing to big in ASUU's demands that FG should not meet. ASUU is possibly testing the sincerety of FG since past experiences have shown that government could not be trusted. FG, act now and save our education! The strike would not have been if FG had not failed on past promises, so FG needs to meet them mid point and let the strike be called off now! |
Those who truly love this woman would advise her to plead for forgiveness and possibly resign. If she had any goodwill in her SPG days, all of that would have been rubbished by her trying to cling to power at all cost. Dont people read history? Even recent history? Abubakar was that head of state that no one throws stones at today, just because he did not allow power to get the better hold of him. Not so for Abacha family and IBB et al, who continue to bear that load and burden of societal stigma, for the roles they played in their time. Madam Stella, your enemies are now pretending to be your best friends. They are asking you to fight on! Their names are not in the media. They want you to be there for their own gains. When eventually you leave, they will quickly switch to your successors and tell him/her how bad you were! As for your boss, remember he is a politician! He is waiting for the cry for your removal to reach its highest crescendo before he pushes you out. That way, he gets the maximum political gain from the whole episode. Just say you are sorry! You still have a life to live, madam! |
Now I see why she bought those cars! Dear President, please urgently order for armoured private jets for Madam Aviation. Madam, please change all your wardrobe now and buy yourself armoured clothes. Let us all be thankful that Madam was not in the vehicle! Come to think of it, are the assaillants not reading the papers? They should have known that Madam only enters armoured cars and their shakabula would not have made any penetration if she was inside! |
djon78: And people will say Goodluck is clueless, this is an excellent move. When I returned to Nigeria I wept at the number of SUV on Nigerian roads, I factored in the colossal amount Nigeria loses to these cars, I suggested that govt should impose high tariff on them in some countries I have been in they impose up to 150 percent. So I say it is a very good move by GEJ and Okonjo Iweala. And this will encourage local production and job opportunities, once again, nice move. You possibly should have wondered why the refineries are not working and why we keep importing fuel! Our FG argued for many years that they will not be able to police our borders and hence the need to keep increasing fuel prices to discourage diversion to Cotonou and others. The more they increased the more our NAIRA lost value. Now they will pay Naira 2 trillion in subsidies to marketers at the end of Year 2013. Good that you returned. Please do not be fooled. The smuggling cartel are toasting and rejoicing at this new policy. Increasing duty has never been an incentive to local production. You should go to the local markets like Apongbon to see how many so called banned goods are freely sold in the market and how many of those banned items are consumed in government houses around the country. This policy is likely going to seriously impoverish the common Nigerian. Shine your eye! There are some local assemblies as we speak. How many of their products has FG bought? Do they not prefer to buy 1 unit of imported BMW at USD800,000? When a similar step was made on gen sets, some people reasoned the way you just did. Today, how many factories of gen sets do you have in Nigeria? The duty on wheat went up to force Nigerians to eat cassava bread. How many of that bread do you have on the street? This looks more like shallow thinking. There is nothing excellent in it. If you really want to promote local production, you will carve policies to encourage that production. Give them tax waivers. Let duty free regimes work. That is what they do in other places. |
What a country? Soon the word Nigerianization would soon replace corruption in the English dictionary! One thing is sure, though, Nigeria will win and will triumph over this set of people. |
kmariko: Delta Flies New Route to Profits: Older Jets, published in today’s Wall Street Journal (paid subscription required or free metered view).Do we have a robust maintenance and inspection program? I hope we do! |
From the trail, I can see this is a 4th hand aircraft! United to Siberia to Aero and now to Eagle! Can we not come up with better ideas? yet our presidential fleet boasts of new and advanced planes! We are taking this cluelessness to another dimension by hiring propagandists to sit on NL 24 x 7 to attack anyone that dares criticizes government's actiions, inactions and misactions! With the way that this eagle is being packaged, it is bound for a serious still birth. I think we lost it when we allowed Virgin Nigeria to close! FG, leave investments alone for private people. Thank you! |
Why always me? Says Anambra! |
Nigerians should vow rather to stop voting thugs and incompetent people into political offices! |
If you smuggle a used car how will you get it registered? Let everyone raise their voice against this senseless and cruel policy that wants to ensure only government people (remember Stella!) and the super-rich use cars and then the others go with bicycles. That way they do not need to talk about subsidies anymore since there will be far fewer people buying fuel! |
