I read somewhere that during an interview, he said that Mohbad means "I am (Mo) Bright And Destined." More like an acronym for something positive.
The Church could have rescued him when he complained. It's too late to criticise now. |

Chinjo2: OP I advise you to be open minded and follow this proceedings with an open mind. What Atiku is trying to prove is that Tinubu is impassonating the real Bola Tinubu who graduated from CSU who happens to be a female. Those academic records Atiku is asking for will further reveal the real identity of the real owner of the certificate. Interesting! Mobil didn't verify his certificate before employing him? They employed Ahmed with a certificate of a female Bola Tinubu? This is becoming ridiculous. The lawyers are wise though. It's a golden opportunity.... |
Food › Re: Erisco Foods Arrests Chioma Egodi For Saying There Is Too Much Sugar In Tomato by delpee(f): 9:08pm On Sep 25, 2023 |
Erisco produces with locally farmed tomatoes unlike most others that are made from concentrate and fillers. If there's no added sugar, it should be healthier. It's not fair or wise to ruin someone's efforts without adequate facts. A breed of Jos tomatoes for instance has a sweet taste. Does that mean it has added sugar? Let's encourage our manufacturers biko. |

It's not too late for him to learn. He can become a certified PRO by getting himself registered with and training under NIPR.
Reminds me of the likes of Remi Oyo in the OBJ era...a true professional. Decent and always passing on information without exaggerating, being antagonistic or arrogant. I don't know if she belonged to NIPR though. |

Buhari regime in 1984. 3 guys were executed by firing squad. People kicked against it then. The regime was overthrown later for whatever reasons. IBB came in and stopped it. Now I don't know what to think because it's getting so crazy...... Lives are being ruined especially young ones who don't clearly understand the long term implications. |

AllenSpencer: That’s a man’s world!
Look at today, despite all the efforts of the dad to get him to that age, people still castigating the man and celebrating the woman that was absent!
The society never appreciates the sacrifices of men. Hmm! Those whose fathers did well appreciate. I'm one. For Mohbad....After reading through the many stories, it's clear that his dad tried his best. Unfortunately, those who interviewed him in his time of grief exposed his side of the story to misinterpretation. He probably wasn't in the best state of mind to tell his story. His dad sent him to a private school (based on the name) where he did fairly well according to his school Principal. He wanted to become an accountant before he deviated to music. He's also a carpenter...his dad's profession. Mohbad appreciated his dad but was also sentimental towards his mum. It's only natural. |

Great pity! A combination of poverty and ignorance on display. She could have contacted NGOs if she knew about that. It's so unfortunate that she didn't understand the message given to her prior to the birth if Mohbad. God had a special purpose for him to fulfil hence the name Ilerioluwa (God's promise). Perhaps his death will bring about the much desired cleansing of the music industry of drugs, cultism and violence.
It seems some record labels prey on those who are from poor backgrounds so the oppression can be total. It's so heartbreaking reading up on how he got beaten up so frequently and no one could save him. He only wanted to use his talent to bring about a better life for him and his family. May his soul rest in peace. |

I think it's time to leave this time wasting matter. Since CSU said he attended their institution and the transcript has been provided, there's no point debating the issue. All he requires is School Cert. His GCE is the equivalent of that.
Somehow, I think he's objection is based on his personal rights or just to drag the matter whose end we can predict. Lawyers must eat sha. |

That boy was depressed for God knows when Honestly, after reading through all he went through and listening to his songs, I feel that depression and lack of adequate spiritual and moral support could have killed him. His dad's attitude tells a story about his broken and probably unhappy background. Poor guy desperately wanted to shine his light and fulfill destiny in accordance with his name..Ilerioluwa (God's promise) only to be caught in a web of frustration. Very sad. |

Which Stupid Yoruba Custom did the father follow, does Yorubas bury their dead immediately?? Yorubas who go by tradition and culture bury young people immediately without the parents attending. It's seen as oku ofo (mournful death). Actually, long delays in funeral processes is a modern thing based on the availability of mortuaries and the wish for big celebrations for elderly departed souls. |

Family › Re: My Mom Doesn't Appreciate Me. How Do I Handle This? by delpee(f): 7:06pm On Sep 21, 2023 |
Undilutedme: Hello nairaland family. I trust you guys are doing fine. I have a little problem and I need a piece of advise on how to handle it. I have a very wonderful mother. She's caring, sweet, compassionate, name all the good characteristics of a good woman, she's got all but there's this problem I'm still having with her. SHE NEVER APPRECIATES ME, NO MATTER HOW HARD I TRY. My mom will never appreciate me for anything I do, even if she does, she does it nonchalantly like it doesn't matter. She compares me with friends at every slight opportunity she gets.
There was something that happened. Momsy travelled sometime around this year and stayed for close to two months and she has a shop that she manages. The shop's generator has been bad for sometime and it's really stressful for her selling with dim lights but she refused repairing it again because according to her, the generator is consuming her money because of too much repairs every time. So I wanted to surprise her, I called a friend that fixes generator to come help me fix it so when she comes she'll see that it has been fixed. My friend came and fixed it. When momsy came back and I told her that I fixed the generator for her, she told me that, she didn't send me to fix generator for her and that she is not going to use it. According to her "I send you make you fix gen?. I say I nor wan use the gen again". I swear I was really hurt.
On another occasion was during the just concluded UTME exam. My friends wrote before me, a friend of mine had 330 so I told her, she was very happy. She was like, I pray you get something like this. Fast forward, 3 days later, I wrote mine and result came out. I scored 314, when she came, just happily told her, instead of being happy, she just hissed and said "You nor fit get reach 330?". My spirit just died immediately. She likes comparing me with my friends.
There are many occasions things have happened but I'll not bore you with unnecessary talks. It's really eating me up emotionally and psychologically. How well can I make my mom appreciate me more?. How can I please her?.
Ps: Please nobody should throw insults at her. I beg you in the name of whoever you serve. Thanks. This is emotional abuse. Very saddening coming from a parent. If she does the same to others, I'll say it's an attitudinal issue which requires correction. If not, it's something deeper. Does she have issues with your dad? Some mothers project bitterness against their spouses/baby daddy on their kids. Maybe you should pour out your heart to your grandma. Don't get weighed down by misery/sorrow. It affects ones health in a slow but often devastating way. |

It seems to me that Mohbad's parents didn't do enough to help their son. He probably couldn't confide in them hence all these issues of struggles and unhappiness. I feel so pained as a mother reading about all his troubles... They were avoidable issues if he had strong backing and support.
May God grant his soul peaceful rest. May He comfort and uphold his family. |

A very sad part of our history. Moving away from the regional set up is a major factor in the ruination of this country.
The coupists made things worse by centralising power in the Federal Government. That killed the fair competition and progress we were making in the different regions, which could have culminated in faster and more sustainable progress, for the regions and the country as a whole. |

kettykin: The type of rain that inflicted this damage in Lagos would have gone without any noticeable damage in those cities Flooding in different parts of the "developed " world have been in the news lately. What happened here is a child's play compared to what we're seeing in other places. Libya was in the news for devastating flood yesterday. USA, parts of Europe and Asia too. Lagos is at sea level. People empty refuse in gutters and canals. What do we expect under the circumstances when rain falls heavily for a long period? Government has it's role but the people need to do better. |
